I had a great experience. The owner Henry was very helpful, friendly, and easy to work with. The Divemasters Max, Rob and Vince were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Rick the Capt was a pleasure to talk to. The dives were great. I am a customer for life.

My husband and our friend dove with Rob August 31, 2021. We took a refresher course, and did two dives with Rob who was absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend him to anyone and plan on coming back to Dive with Rob this winter. He is very professional and very personable and attentive. I hope you enjoy him as much as we did.

We had an excellent dive experience with Robert as our dive master. Captain and crew we also so helpful and cheerful even though we had to go through a huge rain squall. Its so nice to see the reefs so healthy and abundant and filled with colorful sea life.The only reason we couldnt give this review five stars was the sad condition of the boat. (Reefs End) Strong diesel odor permeated the entire crew compartment.All in all though, we had a wonderful time!

Did two days of diving with the Captain Hooks crew at Dive Key West. Dove the Vandenberg and the reef dives and all of them were amazing. Dive masters were extremely knowledgeable and the crew is attentive, safety conscious and helpful, they just want you to have a good time! I would love to come back for the wreck diving course at the Vandenberg.

Dont be fooled by the impersonators. Want to dive the keys? This is the place. Master divers (Sam&Rob), knowledgeable, skilled, and are always keeping an eye on you. Attitudes and egos are left at the dock. No young guns - Experts.

Dove the Vandenberg and the Cayman and reef night Dives and all of them were absolutely amazing. Dive masters were extremely knowledgeable and the crew can handle all your gear if you allow them and they take really good care of everything. After the dives they have a couple dunk tanks to wash/rinse your gear. Love them!

This is my second review for the Captain Hooks Dive Shop enterprise, the first was for the Marathon location back in 2018.Returned from a wreck dive today (Cayman Salvager) as well as a reef trip. As I understand it, most trips have two dives. I have used this outfit a couple of times now, because they are consistent with their service, and deliver it well! They are safety conscientious, want you to have an enjoyable time and want it to be an experience that you will want to repeat in the future. The crew, Captain Zach, Henry, Max, Chris were outstanding. The store staff was also very polite, professional and helpful in getting me my equipment (all in very good condition) making sure it fit properly, as well as giving me a briefing on its operation. Henry, our DM, took the time to point things out, kept a close watch on us, and even point out a hammer head to the other divers (my dive buddy and I unfortunately missed it). While we can all agree, this is a very enjoyable profession and immerses you in an incredible environment, these guys worked hard, and kept reminding us that “we” were on vacation and that they would do all the work. They did all the work! Thanks to all of you for a great day! See you again soon!

Shop policy is to not fill nitrox tanks with air unless all labeling is removed and a new visual inspection is completed. This has nothing to do with safety as tanks only need to be O2 cleaned for partial pressure blending. If nitrox is banked or membrane filled, its no different than an air tank with Nitrox safe o-rings.

Seriously BEST place for dive/snorkel trips and gear in key west! Every single staff member is great, SUPER helpful and so so kind. We took a snorkel trip with them and it was better than any other company we had gone with. They’re so knowledgeable about everything dive-snorkel-anything about the ocean. I wouldn’t go anywhere else but here!

Our Trip with Dive Key West was Excellent from the first call, until we stepped off the boat. The Crew was Fun AND Professional. The Dive locations were great, close to shore and uncrowded.

Super impressed and glad we went with this crew. It was easy to book, the staff was courteous and professional, and the boat crew was organized, helpful, and knowledgeable. The dives themselves were incredible — bunch of goliath groupers, a devil scorpionfish, barracudas, snook, tarpon, a massive moray, and even a manta ray that got super intrigued by us. We also appreciated the historical briefings and the complimentary snacks onboard. Awesome experience all around!

Our dive was canceled due to weather. We called just to check as we were leaving the hotel at 07:30, since we hadn’t received a call confirming the day before as they said, and they picked up the phone to tell us the dive was canceled.We asked why didn’t they call the day before as agreed to tell us the dive was canceled, and they said “we did call, and talked to a man named Zachary who told us he had already received the cal.” None of us are named Zachary. They clearly called the same person twice and not us.Do better. It’s a really simple thing and totally messed up our plans.

We booked a scuba trip and the day before they contacted us telling us our trip was canceled because they had overbooked us. Thankfully we found someone else but the whole thing was annoying and unnecessary.

Honestly SO unprofessional. We dived with the same company in Marathon and things went pretty well so we booked with Captain Hooks for our dive in Key West for the Vandenberg shipwreck. I decided to give them a call the day of the dive to get information on meet up and what not since me and my dive partner never received email or phone call with a confirmation/instructions.When I called, they said they “tried to call us the night before to let us know it would be canceled, but no ones voicemail was set up.” My partner never received a call nor did I, and I know for certain my voicemail is set up. They canceled due to weather??? The weather was fine and I called around to other dive shops and they still had plans to go out, but unfortunately could not accommodate us last minute.Y’all should really communicate with your customers more. This was a huge reason we came to Key West and we were looking forward to doing this dive. If you can’t actually provide the dive service, maybe work with another dive shop you can outsource your customers to if you don’t have enough divers... I mean... if the “weather is bad.”I am very disappointed and will never rely on this dive ship for any of my diving needs ever again.

Im am so happy that I found this dive company. My brother and I got our open water certification. Chris, our scuba instructor, was phenomenal. Chris is super knowledgeable, kind, and is a very good teacher. You can see his passion and that is so important for newbies especially. Chris made the process seamless and fun. He eased all our concerns and nerves about diving. I am so happy he was our instructor.On our last boat ride, my husband and our kids came out to snorkel while we were diving. Chris organized this whole day event with lots of eager kids! Sam, who helped my husband and the kids snorkel was amazing. He had great tips about diving as well. The whole day was wonderful.All in all, I highly recommend getting certified here or choosing anything that floats your boat. Everyone working at Dive Key West were great and friendly.Thank you Chris for teaching us a new skill that we can use for fun!! 😀

Henry Rose at Dive Key west is the best. I was hesitant to even go scuba diving and he made it possible for me to get my certification. During class he would take time to point out local sea life that we would have missed had we not been out with him. Ask for Henry Rose when diving Key West.

Everyone was great! I’ve been diving all my life and around the world and this by far was one of the best dive boats and crew I’ve ever been on. From the time I first called the dive shop to ask questions till pulling up to the dock after dive and the ride back. Everyone was pleasant, helpful and safety was number one. The briefing was great by the dive master Sam. He was funny and thought of everything. I felt very safe on the Vandenburg dive down to 90 feet. I would highly recommend Dive Key West and Captain Hooks!

Disappointed with the overall service. You would think with how many dive shops you have to choose from in key west they would be more accommodating when things dont go as planned for you. Never used rental gear due to boat problems, gear was out of the shop for only the time they were closed overnight, never left the car and they werent willing to help us out. Will be happy to dive and shop elsewhere when in the area.

Dove the Vandenberg wreck with Henry as our guide. They asked us to set up our gear on the tanks at the shop. Ill admit that I wasnt a fan at first but I noticed my weight pouch was damaged once I got it on the tank. Henry fixed me up, for free, and helped me set up my reg to be more streamlined. He really went out of his way to tell me the benefits of the new setup and was very accomadating to the group during our whole trip. On the boat and during the dive, he was just a very relaxed and confident divemaster. I really appreciate the extra care he took going down the rope and make sure we all felt comfortable.My wife was very scared, even stated she may not do the dive, and Henry got her in the water and even through a pass-through! She was very happy afterwards- saying how safe and by the book Henry was. I just cant say enough how happy I was with our dives, the customer service, and the guided tour by Henry on the wreck.We will definitely be back to dive with this shop again!

I had an awesome time diving with these guys. Everybody was professional and cool. Although visibility wasnt as good in Key West, this place was way better than Sea Dwellers in Key Largo.

If there were negative stars, I would post that. This store is a hoax. They will give you defective gear, indicate its your fault or some obscure policy that limits their exposure and responsibility, and you will not receive fair treatment.It is a surprise theyre still in business. Enter if you want to be scammed out of your money, or call one of the many other shops in the area if you have any sense.

Really had a wonderful time with Dive Key West. From the time of booking to check-in, I really enjoyed the ease of just booking through their site. Sam was a great dive instructor that made sure each of us on the trip was comfortable in the water and we maximized our bottom time at the wreck site. I felt safe and at ease the entire time. When we got back to the dive shop, they offered us the option of having our gear dry out overnight after rinsing it out. I really liked that option since it meant we wouldnt need to schlep wet gear around. All in all, when I make my way back to the keys, Ill definitely book another dive with Dive Key West.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff

We rented gear for a dive the following day, right before the shop closed. The next morning we found out our dive was canceled, but when we tried to bring back the gear (right when the shop opened) they were rude and unaccommodating. They refused to give us our money back or even offer any sort of refund. They wouldn’t have been able to rent out the gear we had to anyone else anyway, given we only had it during the hours they were closed. I just don’t think that’s a smart way to run a business. Will NEVER go back there again.

My Dad and I went snorkeling with Dive Key West and couldn’t have possibly had a better time! We went out on the boat with 3 Scuba Divers and had just as good, if not better of a time then they did! Everything was made better by our awesome Dive Instructor and Captain, each taking their time to make sure we were ready and safe. If you like personal treatment and the safety of knowing that real professionals are teaching and outfitting you then you will not be let down! (the old pickup and well loved boat were just as fun as the trip)Thanks Guys! Can’t wait to come back!

My wife son and I always enjoy the Florida Keys and always enjoy snorkeling. this year we got our fishing license to include lobstering and went to a local retail chain and paid $50 for a mask Fin and snorkel set up per person. A $150 later we go out to find some Lobster. Needless to say our masks leaked are snorkels leak and we were gurgling water most of the time. We stopped in at this store told them what our issues were. They set us up with a great dive mask and snorkel at a great price. We took them out snorkeling and lobstering and have not had any issues. The Masks are incredibly comfortable and not one drop of water has gotten in the snorkel.This is a family-owned company and Cece helped us with our issues. She was very knowledgeable polite and perfectly fitted our masks to our face.I highly recommend this dive shop if you want to get affordable dive gear.

My son and I recently traveled to Key West to get out our Advanced Adventurer diving certification. We settled on Dive Key West and it was our best decision of the trip! Bob runs and amazing shop with a courteous and knowledgeable staff. Their equipment is top of the line and the dive staff second to none; Alex, Jesus and on! If you make the trip and you are looking to increase your diving skills ask for Pascal! His first concern is your safety and his calming and knowledgeable nature allows you to learn how to dive! Best in Key West!

Excellent diving experience and fantastic dives with dive master Sam and captain Nick. Dove the Vandenberg and felt comfortable and in good hands.Saw moray eels, giant parrot fish, snappers, schools of fish, large barracuda and more. Cant wait to come back.Highly reccomend if you like smaller personal outfits.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with Dive Key West. We took the Open Water Diver certification course and our instructor was Mauro. This was the first time for both of us to try SCUBA diving. Our instructor was fantastic and made us both feel very comfortable and confident. He was very patient with us, explained things very well, and was absolutely focused on proper instruction and execution. I felt very much at ease and confident on that very first dive because I was well prepared. Bob and CeCe were terrific, as well as all the staff there that we met and were helped by. Looking forward to our next diving experience!

Complete scam, I bought free diving weights here for 30 dollars! Just two weights! They have no returns and have nothing but useless shirts! I didn’t get a receipt! I GOT SCAMED DO NIT SHOP THERE IF YOU LIKE HAVING MONEY OR NOT BEING WORKED! They charge way too much!

I cant speak to them for dive trips - but first quality instructional shop. My son got his cert over the Christmas holiday after they were recommended for instruction by several diving friends who live in the Keys.

My boyfriend and I were certified by Mauro Scali this summer and had a great time. I am reminiscing our trip on this cold Fall day and realized we never wrote our review like promised. Mauro was a great instructor. We felt comfortable diving with him and had so much fun. I would highly recommend you check out this dive shop and Mauro as your dive instructor or dive master when visiting Key West. Overall awesome experience!

Wonderful experience! I did my advanced open water with them and could have not been more thrilled with the instruction received. Cody was an amazing instructor and taught me invaluable skills. Theyre customer service inside the shop far exceeds what is normal and theyre a pleasure to deal with. Ive been to the shop before and stated that I was not going to purchase anything but they still took the time to explain to me everything I wanted to know. As a local, I will be using this shop over and over.

These guys went WAY out of their way to make sure that I got my 50th dive in and my friend got her qualification dived done even though Mother Nature just wasn’t cooperating. Also, they took my handicaps in stride and were so helpful with my gearing up and breaking down. Of note, Victoria, our instructor, was honestly the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of diving with, and Captain Jack was tops too.This center is merging with another 2 big shops in the area, so be sure to call around to find Victoria!

Rented full gear for a chartered catamaran trip from harmony yacht vacations. Prices we good and We had a great experience getting set up with these folks! Reasonably priced gear and good service!

I was certified through this dive shop in May. The instructors and crew are as friendly as anyone could ask for. The captain gives people rides to the dock in his van for those who cant drive themselves. Both captains were telling jokes to make the day fun and to calm the nervous ones down. When a storm came in one day and caused a dive to be cancelled, the crew always maintained contact with me and put me on the next available dive no problem. Me personally, I couldnt have asked for more.

We did a few dives and had a very good experience. They dock in a good area that has better access to some dive spots that other shops miss. Will dove with them again.

The person who helped me buy my snorkeling gear was very helpful and friendly. He gave me all the info I needed to decide what is the best gear for me to have. I’ll definitely be coming here when I need to upgrade or buy new gear.

New gear, a very friendly salesperson, and flexible booking. While the price is high, they agreed to take us (2 people) out on 2 reef dives. Was basically like we chartered a boat with crew and diving guide for 300 with everything included (tax, gear, underwater guide and beverages + fruit). In addition, we got a complementary guest pass to a yacht club with fitness, pool, buffet and beach for us to use until we leave Key West (not just while were diving with Dive Key West).

We originally booked two days of dive trips with Dive Key West but enjoyed ourselves so much that we added another day. All the staff and crew were excellent to deal with and extremely helpful, on everything from dive info to where the best restaurants are. Thanks to Bob, Dan and Sam who made our vacation a memorable one! We will be back.

Cant beat the customer service! My husband gets his gear serviced here all the time, they are always friendly and knowledgeable... it gives me great comfort that when my husband is 120 feet down his gear will be in top condition.

Booked a half day for snorkeling with Pascal (which is a french speaker, that makes the experience for frenchies much easier); after a briefing with Pascal, he brought me and my girlfriend to the harbor and introduced us to the crew Alex (safety instructor) and Jesus (the captain) all very qualified and funny; all professionals they made all of us feel like diving with friends, they are all passionate about their job which makes the diving experience even more incredible, even though their are a bit more expensive than the other offers in the island this extra cost worth because you ll have a smaller group, which will made the under water life more curious than afraid of you, thus they will approach you easily, which was my case. Totally advise you to go in this wonderful experience with them.

My family and I went diving here and it was fantastic. The dive instructors, Max and Victoria, were excellent and provided an awesome experience that could not be beaten. In addition the staff at the store are very friendly.

I am disappointed with my experience with Dive Key West. The management took the decision and risk to go out during bad weather, but it was the uninformed customer who had to pay the price for that risk.We went out even if the weather was not fine and it got even worse when we were out. While I agree that they cannot fully predict the weather, based on the weather forecast and their experience, they should at least make their customers aware of the likelihood of bad weather and let the customer decide if they want to risk going out. (Ive been diving in plenty of developing countries and they were much more aware of their weather - and much more careful in responding to it.) There was no communication about the weather until I got to speak to the crew on the boat on the way to the reef (which was too late).The first dive went fine, despite the limited visibility. But the second dive we had to stop after five minutes because of strong waves and very bad visibility. After we returned to the dive shop, the manager refused to offer me a partial refund for the trip. The only positive experience during the trip was the dive master we dived with, because she was considerate and prioritised safety.I would definitely not recommend the dive centre to anyone and I would not want to dive there again.

I dove with them yesterday on the Vandenberg. They were great! Professional with a focus on safety. The boat captain and divemaster were fun, focused, and knowledgeable. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Im a local and know the local shops. This one has the corner on certain brands of equipment - and charges accordingly. Watch out! And the personnel incl the dive masters can be snooty and arrogant. Totally unnecessary. You can find better in Key West. Much better.

The store is a SCAM they over charge you, don’t give you a receipt and won’t let you return there products. They have no options on any products. They took most of my money (I am a kid) for something that won’t even work for me. DON’T SHOP THERE THEY SCAMED ME (a kid) THEY WORKED ME FOR ALMOST ALL I HAD.

Worst experience with a dive shop! On vacation with family, booked a wreck dive for 2nd to last day in FL. I was called 15hrs prior to dive and informed of cancellation. With limited time and options I opted to book a sunset/night dive. I showed up at the shop about a half hour early for the dive. I was told the dive was cancelled. I was never given a phone call for the 2nd dive cancellation. Within a 24hr period Dive key West cancelled two dives on me. The great news was that they were doing me a favor by returning my booking fee, like I was going to pay for services not provided. Needless to say I was unable to dive in Key West. For the double inconvenience I asked if they could throw in a T-shirt. DENIED. Bottom line they were unprofessional and highly unorganized. I would highly recommend inquiring at other dive shops.

Older guy hastled us about leaving a one star review. The guys we rented from were great, but the guy that we returned our gear to didnt treat us like paying customers.

Instructor staff is good but the ownership is burned out and stuck in the 70s. Is not accommodating to customers and was quite rude. I am local and this may be okay for those not used to high class and quality service - kind of like bad captains catching grunts and giving the Keys a bad reputation for fishing when Mahi and Wahoo are plentiful. If you want a great experience, use Southpoint Divers in Key West or go East a bit to Looe Key Dive Resort.

The boat crew was great. The owner of the shop not so much. I prepayed for my dives about a month in advance. I have my own equipment but needed 2 air tanks for the 4th dive.of the day. By the time the trip arrived, I had bought enough tanks and requested a refund. I also needed 4 tanks filled with nitrox after they were used for our first trip of the day.The staff of the boat gladly took the used tanks to the shop to be filled. After lunch I was told they would not fill 2 of my tanks because they didnt have nitrox stickers on them, even though we used nitrox in them that morning with them and they had the analyzed sticker on them. OK...picky but I could understand. Next they told me they would only fill my steel 120s to 2400psi. Huh?? The tanks have been filled to 3000+ every other time but the shop owner said he had to go by what was stamped on the tank. I was basically stuck since they are the only nitrox filling shop in the lower keys.By now I just want to pay for my 2 fills instead of 4 and get my refund. The owner comes out with a sheet.of paper saying that I was under charged for my dives 4 weeks earlier. Now I am really feeling shafted. I laugh at his ploy to not refund the rental tanks. Finally he called the half fills and the refund a wash and I leave.I have been diving for over 20 years and have never seen a shop run as poorly as this place. A much as he tried, I wouldnt let it ruin my weekend but next time I will get Lost or find another Point to dive with.

First of all, make sure you do your buddy check cause they will not check you at all..to make sure your good to go into the water. I was having a bad problem with bouyancy..they gave me more weight..dive two..still having problems again they did not check..got down alittle ways..but could not stay down..so u surfaced and was tired gave the signsl for help cause i was in the middle of a seaweed bed.all they kept telling me was go under or swim thru it..knowing I had bouyancy problems...so i could not go under so i had no choice to but to go thru it....so some advice dont use them..,they just point to where you go..your paying for there gas and thats abput it ..if you do catch lobster they dont give yoy anyadvise to what restaurants that will cook it for you..so sorry guys..im not giving you a good review..
