This shop is fantastic. Had a blast doing 4 dives at the Vandenberg with Zack. Amazing experience and such a great guide. We also did some reef dives with him and his appreciation for sea life is amazing. We also had some reef dives with Drew and Tyler, both awesome guys as well. You can not go wrong by booking a trip with this group. I will definitely book here again when in the Keys.

I had a blast on our Sunday afternoon dive even though the winds were too strong to go to the Atlantic and instead we did a shallow Gulf dive. Having not been diving in years it was actually a great warm-up for me and my guide Arden was super helpful, clear, and knowledgeable.I left my wetsuit booties on the boat and emailed the office the next day. Zach and Mike very kindly shipped them back to me in Colorado and I am forever grateful because I love those booties!

What a wonderful and amazing experience we had with Southpoint Divers!!!We booked the AM wreck / Vandenberg dive on May 12, and due to another dive shop in Marathon cancelling a different wreck dive, we dove the Vandenderg again with Southpoint on the 13 as well.So may great things to say... the conditions were excellent both days: calm seas (the calmest weve ever been on), 80+ and 60-70 viz, and the Vandenberg definitely lives up to the hype with things to see at every depth and experience level. Wildlife was abound: Jacks, TONS of Barracuda, Surgeonfish, and a couple Goliath Groupers. Many more that Im forgetting as well. My girlfriend (and best dive buddy ever IMHO) even saw a Hammerhead at the safety stop on one of the dives.The crew of the Phoenix was fantastic. We had the same Captain both days, and different boat crews on the 12 and 13. All were superb. They were very attentive to the needs and questions of the divers on board, and were courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable all while being safety first.We only say a small portion of the Vandenberg, and could (and hopefully will) go back many more times. We will absolutely book with Southpoint Divers when we do.

Thank the whole crew of Southpoint Divers for one of the most amazing adventures ever. Tommy got us started off in the morning. You can tell Tommy loves his job. He just took great care of us and what a great start to the day, thank you so much Tommy. Then for the actual diving trip, Mike took care of us. Mike made us feel like were family. He looked after us so well and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. I cant thank everyone enough for a memory my wife Dana and I will cherish for a life time. Dana was a little nervous at first but with everyones help shes now Gung ho to get her certification to dive!

Wonderful people from those in the dive shop to the boat captains. Dove with Dillon and Tyler specifically- both fantastic dive masters who travel at the speed of snails so you can really take in everything around you - but everyone on the boat was in the mix looking out for clients as well as each other. Key West is a pretty awesome place on its own. Getting to dive with the folks at Southpoint made it spectacular and unforgettable!

We had an awesome experience for our first time diving. Zach Goodfellow was very patient with us and was absolutely the best!!! I highly recommend Southpoint Divers. All staff on board worked hard to make sure everyone was safe and had a good time. We did the discover scuba and our instructor was great and owes our little guy 5 hits haha!!! This was truly a 5 star adventure!!!

Lost my Hearing - I would definitely not recommend this, I went to scuba diving this June and had a horrible experience. That was my first time diving and the training class I had was in a 5 foot swimming pool and I can say the instructions give were poor. My question would be how can you give 20 min of instruction in a 5 foot swimming pool and take people to 40 feet deep? Also when I was diving the instructor was almost never with me. I was underwater for about 45 min and when I came back up I was covered in blood and not able to move at all, yet the boat stayed there for 3 hours to complete next dive, instead of bringing me back to shore and giving me medical attention. Because of this I lost my hearing in my right ear and partial hearing loss to my left ear and had to go through surgery and wasnt even able to fix my issue and now I have to live this way for the rest of my life. Now I understand the risk involved in scuba diving but it hurts to know that I lost my hearing because of bad instructions. It took me a while to write this but I want people to know the risks youll be taking and how important it is for the instructors to take care of you, especially if you are diving for the first time. Stay Safe and I would recommend other diving schools as I heard from several doctors (Otologists/ENT) people who dive before that this is not how instructors usually be.

Was able to gets several dives in with Southpoint divers over a weeks period with my daughters. Zach, Emily, Drew, Mike were all outstanding. Super helpful, knew their stuff, and made all the dives super easy. From the Vandenburg to reef dives it all went super well.

Great staff, captain and dive crew. The weather was not cooperating and they had to move the scheduled dive but kept me well informed. On the day of the dive, the visibility was bad but they were very upfront and I still had two great dives. I would recommend this place and hope to catch them next time for the wreck dive!

Wow! What a wicked experience scuba diving with southpoint divers! Pool training with Dylan was nice and chill, he taught us all at a good pace about how to use all the equipment. Once on the boat, our dive buddy was Arden who was very patient with my wife who struggled with the first dive for a few minutes. After that we had 2 awesome dives! A very fun experience that I would highly recommend. Funnest thing we did in Key West for our honeymoon.

My husband had a cruise with work that stopped in Key West. We arent really.cruise people but we love any chance to dive. Southport Divers had a very convenient schedule so we could fit in while we were off the ship. We did two shallow reef dives and saw quite a few interesting things. The dive boat was very nice and the staff was helpful!

My wife and I wanted to try scuba diving so we started researching companies. We chose Southpoint Divers/Key West Scuba Diving based on reviews and their PADI certification. We are so glad we did. The pool session was very helpful. My wife took a while to learn to clear her mask, Kim was so patient, helpful and so very friendly. The dive was canceled due to weather. They offered to refund or reschedule for another day convenient to us. We were supposed to fly home the next night but we changed our flights and scheduled for the next day. When we got to the boat, Kim was off that day. That upset my wife because she was already a little nervous. Dylan tried to be just as helpful, but the personal trust level wasn’t there since she hadn’t trained with him. She was too nervous and couldn’t go. She stayed at the top and snorkeled while we all went down. While I was diving with Dylan he would go out of his way to show us all of the sea coral and marine life. He was very helpful when my body couldn’t handle the first pressurization. He took me up and down multiple times until my body could equalize with the pressure.We did two dives and spent about an hour and a half or more diving in the ocean at two different locations.

Had a great time on the afternoon reef dive with my guide, Ben. Everyone at Southpoint was super friendly and helpful, very professional operation that I would highly recommend.

What a great diver shop! The staff was friendly and helpful from the check-in process to the last dive. I came solo and they paired me up with a dive buddy without any issues. They provide all the gear you need including wet-suits. (I didnt use as I normally swim in Lake Superior, so 75 water temp is fine with me) They were knowledgeable and provided safety instructions while en-route to dive site which was a great use of time. The also provided details of the specific dive sites, so you knew what to expect with the coral in order to successfully navigate around. Was able to get just under an hour of bottom time both dives! I will be diving with them again!

Great dive shop you have there especially want to thank Ashtyn for her hard work on finding the other matching fin to the pair I was looking for. it was under a lot of other Fins but she wasnt going to give up lol. keep up the great work, I will be back.

Been diving with Southpoint Divers foto two days. I have been diving the Vandenberg wreck and the Sand Key & Eastern Dry Rocks. All four dives were great.The service is good and the staff is friendly. The staff will explain about the dives sites and take care of safety. Especially on the Vandenberg dives that is relly nice.On the Vandenberg the guides Will show you the wreck and will follow the most conservative tables/computers. The V is a must do divesite, but for most divers a guide is strongly recommended.The Sand key and the Eastern Dry Rocks are diveble for most self guiding divers. Good reeds with beautiful coral and life. Saw sharks, turtles and a lot of other typical fish.

I did the afternoon reef dives and then two dives on the Vandenburg the following morning with this company. Professional, friendly, and helpful crew. I had a problem develop with my regulator and they did a great job setting me up with a rental so that I could dive on my BCD.

We did the online coursework through PADI and then the pool/open water sessions with Southpoint Divers. The whole operation is A-mazing! Our dive instructor was Mike and we saw him help three other people through their “resort dive” during the course of our training. He did a great job and everyone loved their dives.We decided after getting our certifications that we would book another dive to the Vandy & the Cayman. These dives were awesome! Swim throughs on the bow and great sea life. Mike and Zach did an exceptional job, we had high expectations and they exceeded them!Don’t have any reservations in booking a trip with Southpoint Divers, they’ll take car if you from start to finish.

Very detailed, efficient and professional dive shop. They run a solid team and as a dive master I would recommend diving with them.Unfortunately our boat had mechanical errors for our dive this morning. The boat hadnt run in 4 days, and Southpoint had not tested before we got on. I imagine this is a very rare issue.I was disappointed that Southpoint made no effort to compensate us for ruining a day of our vacation. We were refunded and told sorry. When asked if they expected to run the afternoon dive that we were booked on, we were told I dont have a crystal ball. No discount on future dives or recommendation of where to rebook.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COMPANY FOR SNORKELING! If you are a diver it might be ok but snorkeling is a total money grab for this company. We were greeted with snorkelers get on and sit there and left for the 35 min ride out with barely a word while the divers got ready. When we got to the snorkel spot the water was so rough if you werent puking (and divers and snorkelers were) you couldnt snorkel without getting waves rushing over you filling your snorkel full of water. Oh, and a pool noodle was your snorkel vest. I was in the water a total of 10 mins and feared for my safety. Horrible, awful, worst decision of my vacation.

I got my PADI Open water with these guys in 2016 and it was a FANTASTIC experience. I recently tried to dive with them again but my plans were disrupted (thanks Covid!). They were kind and accommodating about it! I hope to return to key west to dive with them again soon.

Boat was awesome. Diving was good. The little bit of gear we rented was nice. Drew our dive master seemed nice. The only reason for 4 stars was I just felt the crew was somewhat checked out and very disinterested. Captain was very difficult to understand when speaking. My first interaction with him was him telling me that I was sitting in the wrong spot. They seemed burned out honestly. I didn’t feel any “friendliness” or very welcome onboard. Other than that, it was what it was.

This crew runs a tight ship! I did the Discover Scuba program and it was definitely the highlight of my Key West trip.

Visibility was low, and cant control weather, but otherwise it was a really nice experience

We had great experience with discover scuba course.They were able to get my fiance that was extremely nervous to dive and enjoy it! They were not pushy and literally held her hand until she felt comfortable, now she wants to do it again and cant stop telling people all about the experience. The dive instructors where very friendly and knowledgeable. The locations we went to where full of many different marine species, big coral reef habitats, and we even got to see a shark. Loved Diving the reed with SouthPoint divers. Had a great boat ride with great staff! We rented gear and it was all top notch and they helped us set everything up and feel comfortable. We didn’t use a guide but the guides we did meet on the boat, were awesome and very knowledgeable of the waters! We would definitely dive with them again and look forward to the 100 foot wreck dive in the future!

I would highly recommend going through Southpoint Divers for all your snorkeling and scuba diving needs while in Key West! My fiance and I went scuba diving with Southpoint Divers twice this past week and both times were amazing. We saw beautiful coral, crazy colorful fish, and one of the top rated shipwrecks in the nation! All staff were helpful, informative, and smiling. I was a bit nervous for my first wreck dive, but our guide, Zach, was patient and made me feel completely at ease. If you get sea sick, perhaps buy a little Bonine from the shop before you set out on the boat, but all in all, a great experience!

My wife, two teenagers and I took the Southpoint Divers open water certification course last week with Chris as our instructor. We were going to do two days of discovery diving, but learned that we could get certified by basically adding one day of written coursework.Everything about the experience was wonderful. The guys at the shop were nice and answered every question we had. Chris was very patient leading our written course work and pool work. And the ocean dives were fantastic. The whole operation was run efficiently, friendly and safely. All the crew were helpful, and would go out of their way to help divers who werent even in their immediate group.Chris was perfect in getting us certified efficiently, while also caring about our safety and making sure we understood everything. During the ocean dives he was attentive and always watching us, but let us explore and work together as a family. I would highly recommend Southpoint Divers to anyone looking to get certified.

I was certified by Southpoint Divers just after New Years. The store staff was very friendly and the crew was great. Matt was a wonderful instructor! The boat captain (or Skipper as he liked to be called) came off a little cold at first but warmed up quickly. My husband and I had a great experience. I did see a few reviews of people that comment on not having a dive master dive with them - we were told in Key West it isnt necessary to have a guide for divers who are already certified so if you want a guide - you need to pay extra when booking the dive. Great experience!

Tremendous Dive company! They were professional, organized, fun, and above all.... safe! My son is new to diving and we want on the Vandenberg dive along with another wreck. They were both outstanding experiences. The captain and crew were there for your every need... which is what you expect! The difference is that they made it look so effortless (which of course it isnt). Being a former navy diver, I tend to look a little deeper into how a dive is run, how their seamanship is, and how they make their guests feel. All were top notch! I highly recommend Southpoint for beginners through expert divers. You wont be disappointed!

Southpoint Divers took my mate and me (two very experienced divers) out for two dives on the Vandenberg shipwreck site and we had a great time! Both the captain (who had an amazing sense of humor and great rhymes) and the crew were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the dive site. I hired all of my gear and it was all in good condition and appropriately sized. Booking with Zack in the shop was simple and easy, while Scott and David ensured the dive site was easily accessible with cross lines from the boat to the descent line. The entire boat staff was also very helpful getting divers in and out of the water. Overall a great experience and an awesome dive site!

Drew was an amazing guide! I would definitely recommend them. They kept all our gear for us too so we wouldn’t have to carry it back and forth everyday.

I cant believe there are reviews here warning people about diving in Key West...These people are the most professional personable staff from the front desk to the Captain to the Dive Master on our dive Zach. They were accomodating, friendly, very instructive and professional in EVERY way. If the people writing the reviews I read had there way someone would be holding their hand the entire dive. Do us all a favor and stay home. I hadnt dove in 10 years and these guys couldnt have been more helpful and FUN! Call them and you will absolutely ENJOY the experience.

I completed my open water certification with Southpoint Divers and it was awesome. My instructor, Drew, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The crew of the boat kept everything safe but were still laid back and friendly which is a difficult balance to get right.I loved my experience so much that I signed up to go on the Vandenberg dive the following day. I’m glad I did as the Vandenberg is an amazing wreck. I was with Drew again who was great as usual.I didn’t see snorkeling on their website but they take snorkelers as well on the reef dives. The reefs are great for snorkeling especially the shallower ones that come almost to the surface of the water.

Very very disappointed im a dive master after booking from about 1 month before a wreck dive first time on the island and traveling 2500 miles plus.on plane 41/2 hr drivingBringing all equipment and then one day before diving telling me is. Cancel because not enough people on group very very disappointedUnbelievable that a padi diving store can do that.Padi should not allow this to happen on their stores very sad. My wife and I had our very first dive with SPD. We started our day with a couple of hours in the pool with Bing (Kevin). Bing was awesome and put up with all of our silly questions. That afternoon we traveled about 11 miles offshore to two separate dive sites where we perfected our new found skills. Each dive was about 30 minutes or so and we experienced a good portion of the local reef ecosystem. Saw some sharks and other stuff. My only complaint was that the reef dives seemed a little rushed and were based more on covering ground than stopping to enjoy some of the sites. We were the first two out of the water on each dive. Secondly, SPD kind of pushes you to tip the crew 20%. I dont mind but the trip cost $400 already. Great dive!Great 1st experience! Great crew. Had a tone of fun.

Good operator and good diving.I dove with Southpoint Divers two days, one on the reef and one on the Vandenberg, totally 4 dives.I got paired up with good dive buddies and after good briefings we got sent out on independently diving without having to swim in a long line behind a guide as you have to do on so many agencies.For summer diving (July) no suit is needed, but for the Vandenberg light and gloves are recommended.

I completed my PADI Deep Diver cert with Southpoint Divers in May 2018. I called with short notice because I booked a vacation with fairly short notice. Not only was SPD able to accommodate my late request, they even dropped my training manual off at my hotel after they closed because I couldn’t make it to the shop in time. I re-reviewed all of the material and completed the review exercises the day prior and did 4 dives on the Vandy over 2 days with them. The wreck was awesome, and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable and confident with Zach. The shop staff was awesome, and the boat crew was great. I had a blast and will definitely dive with them again to get my wreck cert. I have dove with many companies and Southpoint Divers makes the top tier easily. I especially like that they get early starts, so you can still enjoy key west in the evenings.

Did the Resort Dive; for uncertified divers includes pool training and two dives with a guide in one day.First time diving and had a fantastic time. Was lucky enough to see a variety of marine life (2 shark species, stingray, sea turtle, barracuda, angelfish, parrotfish, urchins, porcupine fish, grouper). But as always, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Friendly crew provided a relaxing experience.Future husband enjoyed his day of diving.

This was a great experience, I would recommend beginners going with a guide though, It will be worth it.

Every time I am in Key West I make sure to dive with SPD. They are consistent, safe, friendly and know what they are doing. They make daily trips out to the best wreck dive in the Keys. They consistently go out of their way to ensure that my wife is happy and has a good time.

Beware of Florida dive operators. They accept no liability. They do not have divemasters go down with the group. You are on your own. We dove on a day when there was a current. All dive operators I have been with have you drift along the reef down current. This one expects you to swim against the current and drift back to the boat. We drifted past the boat in rough seas. They could not see us. Another boat had to tell them we were drifting away. It was 45 minutes before they spotted us and picked us up. Not a pleasant experience. Nice guys on the boat, but the system is flawed. Dont dive with a Florida operator in rough seas with a current.

My experience with Southpoint Divers in Key West7-04-15 - Day 1 two tank dive on the Vandenberg. They charge for a dive guide. A lot of people grumbled. The 30 bucks is worth it. With the profile being so short you want to be able to maximize your experience in a safe manner. That being said I did not have a guide but two dive buddies with hundreds of dives on the site.7-05-15 - Day 2. Standing at dock with two divers waiting for boat to show up. After a short while one of the other divers walked back to the dive shop and came back telling us that they cancelled the dive because not enough people were booked. We carried our gear back to the store for a refund of our prepaid dive fees. Nothing other than a refund was offered for the inconvenience of not being able to dive. Normally not a big deal. But nearly everyone in Key West is a tourist. This means if you came to dive you are going to incur travel and lodging expenses in addition to the dive. Thats what makes this a little more painful.OK. Rant over, back to day 1. There were plenty of staff members to assist with gear on and gear off. They offered to store my gear for the night if going out the next day. There were multiple briefings. One for everybody and the guides also went into more depth with their small groups. My buddies had already established a leader and he briefed us as to our approach. There was a short discussion on each persons level of experience and confidence for how the dive would go. Both dives were awesome. The staff were all friendly and asked frequently if you needed any help with anything. I noticed one diver needed assistance getting back in the boat and they assisted him by removing his bcd and tank in the water allowing him to climb the ladder.I would like to say nothing but good about Southpoint Divers except for getting stranded ashore with no dive today. I hope this info is helpful for anyone who wants to dive in Key West.As a side note this is an update to original review. I sent Southpoint Divers a message on via their website contact page and received no response. This tells me that customer service or satisfaction is not their worry.

A group of us were in Key West mid July and had a blast with the folks at SPD. My boys and I took an Advanced course and it couldnt of been better. Brian is an excellent instructor. Other friends were there to dive and/or snorkel and they also had a great experience with SPD. Everyone at SPD was nice and easy going, as you should be in the Keys. Zach, Shawna, Capt Mike and the rest of the crew were always more than helpful, never negative. I would go back today and dive with them again. Highly recommended!!

I did 3 different 2 tank dives with SPD. One was at the Vandenberg and the others were at different reefs.The shop was incredibly easy to work with. A diver in my party cancelled because of some equalization problems and they allowed him to move his dive to another date.The shop was a 5 minute walk from where I was staying(at the end of Duval St.). And from the shop it was a very short walk to the boat.Getting to the boat the Skipper collects your boarding ticket, assigns you your guide, gives you your equipment, and helps you board the boat.The staff on the boat will then put your equipment together (or not if you prefer to do your own) and gives you proper weight. Any equipment problems were addressed promptly.My guides were Zach and Kate. They were both fantastic. They gave an overview of the dive before getting in the water. They were incredibly professional.The boat staff... wow! Helped with everything. I will be diving here again.

Great staff and great times!

Awesome experience. Arrived at the dive shop the day before our dives and the guy working in the shop who was also one of the dive masters (Henry) asked if we wanted to come out and snorkel on their next trip that day as a complimentary trip. We booked three separate dives with southpoint so we were stoked to also get out and snorkel on the reefs. The crew Zack (a fellow native Coloradan), Alex, Henry, and the captain Kevin were awesome! Super accommodating, so Im not sure what the other reviewers were talking about. Maybe the people they went with were let go or something. Henry and I have actually become good friends and ended up swapping gopro footage too because the days we went the conditions were EPIC. When I come back to key west, this is the only shop Im going to. Cant say how awesome the two trips to the reef and one to the Vandenberg were! This shop has a great crew!

These guys need to fix their boat asap. It kicks a ton of exhaust back into the boat, causing chest discomfort and nausea. I cant imagine thats good for diving or the environmental. Watching their boat travel to the dive site and back is an embarrassment to Key West.

First class shop and dive outfit

The title of this review is for the Store, not for the Boat. I booked my dive through an operator (which I thought was the dive shop at the time) I want to treat my son (13) who was recently certified (JOW) to a wreck dive. I saw the profile for the Vandenberg and thought he MIGHT be able to observe on a down line. I KNEW (or at least didnt think) that he would not e able to dive ON the wreck. When I called to make the reservation, I asked 3 DIFFERENT TIMES if he could dive and was told each time that it would not be a problem as we would have a guide. Against my better judgment, I booked the dive,1st dive on the vandy, second shallow reef. I get to the shop and was informed that my son could not dive as he was only a JOW AND both dives were going to be on the vandy. The funny part about this was there is ANOTHER guy in front of me that was told EXACTLY the same thing about his daughter. I didnt get any kind of refund, nor did the other gentlemen, got charged for nitrox (only used one tank) and my son sat on the boat for one of the 2 dives (they agreed to a shallow dive for the second one)....Guys on the boat were great, DM that lead the dive was Great, did a swim through on the vandy. I would dive with the guys on the boat anytime, but will not book though them again.

We got certified and they were very helpful in getting us certified. The water wasnt very clear but there was nothing they could do about it.

It was ok but not ground breaking diving with them, the Guide we had Hunter was friendly enough but the general feeling was not a good one sadly

These guys are chaotic

Nice club, price 130 dollars for 2 successive dives on the Vandenberg, all equipment included sf the computer I brought. Briefing in ricain of course, but no guide (I am CMAS 3), another palanquée had a guide. Water 31 on the surface, 28 to 35 m, beautiful visi (at least 50m).The least: nothing to eat, no shower

Operation first! Great service and safety in every way! Super recommend it!
