Had my truck here a few times. People are pretty nice and the quality of their work is decent too.They have very high prices. For labor and parts. Charged me 200 more than msrp for a fuel pump module. Same for my front struts (which I should have just did myself) Cheaper to get parts at the dealer!When they replaced my steering rack they cracked the plastic on my splash guard by over-tightening the bolt. Not happy about that.My main set of keys has been stuck in their lock box for the past 6 months (at time of review) and it doesnt seem like they are too eager to get them out. Main reason for the 3 star review.Good warranty though. Did have problems with my steering rack shortly after they replaced it, and they replaced it again under warranty with no charge.

I was trying to fix my rear suspension in my 2015 Silverado at the car wash and of course they didn’t like that and asked me to get out of there. I made it over to Lenfers and they helped me out. They managed to get me in even though they were busy and it was close to Thanksgiving so I really appreciate the effort. I thought the price was very good and they had some free doughnuts. I get my oil changed at another place only because they are open till 10pm but when my transmission went out they were the first place I thought of to do the work.

I recently had my transmission go out on my dodge so I brought it into their Lino lakes shop. The car was bought through Carmax and had a warranty for the transmission to be replaced. Randy and Deb took care of all of the paperwork for me and I only had to pay the deductible once it was all said and done. The process was easy, quick, and stress free. Lenfer will definitely be my go to for anything auto related in the future!

I really liked the people there and they even have someone to take you back home and pick you up while they work on your car. I found that out after the fact though unfortunately. They didn’t really write anything down so they forgot to change my oil. I have been trying to get back there all week but it’s such a pain to be without a car twice in one week!

Had work done on my 2011 Ram 1500. Replaced VVT Solonoid. Price was reasonable. Military discount was applied. Communication could be better. Overall experience was good. Would recommend. Its been two weeks and no issues.

Went in for a oil change and my hood latch was stuck and it made it hard to open. The mechanic at Lenfer fixed it without me asking and did not charge which was very nice of them.

I recently moved to the area. This place was recommended to me by another business in town. The customer service, quality of work and compassion for costs of repair exceeds the reputation. They were concerned about the cost of any repair and only repaired parts that needed it. They gave discounts and coupons and honored a warranty repair. Hands down the best experience I ever had when dealing with car repair.

Honesty! Thats what you get at Lenfer. I have taken my vehicles here for the last five or so years. Two days ago my vans battery light went on and I knew right away it was the alternator. We had it replaced there a few years ago so I called them up. I brought it in and they had it replaced, under warranty the next day! I have always appreciated their honesty and integrity and will continue to suggest them to local friends and family.

Dropped car off last night for oil change, and morning steering check. No word by 4PM next day so called to see if car done. Was done so went to pick up car. No word on steering check, or any kid of checks at all. Dropped mailed coupon for $20 off with car, got $10 off. Don’t know what they did and don’t care. I won’t be back.

Last week a took the leap and got lasik eye surgery. It has been amazing to wake up everyday and not worry about contacts or glasses. An amazing bonus has been most of my dizziness and nausea have disappeared since Im no longer have my contacts or glasses moving around and messing with my vision. I stopped in at 8am to drop off my car for an alignment and oil change. I was greeted by 2 different people whom were very polite and helpful. Not once did I feel pressured at all and they did not try to upsell me. I told them what I was there for and they said they would get me in today. I was then offered a ride to work which I did not know was a service they offered! I declined because I already had a ride set up. They called me back at 1:45pm to say my car was ready. I was very impressed with the turn around time and price. This was the easiest car maintenance experience Ive ever had! Will definitely be going back and highly recommend!

Exceptional and timely service at a fair price on my 13-year-old Toyota 4Runner. Its automatic transmission was hesitating and shuddering as it up-shifted into 2nd and 3rd gears. On-line searching for causes suggested it might need major work. I narrowed my choices of transmission shops in the Twin Cities metro area, Duluth, and northwest Wisconsin based upon prior customer reviews and conversations with a handful of them. A week ago, I chose Lenfer and I wasnt disappointed.Lenfer was one of my very best experiences ever with an auto repair business. Randy and his crew of seasoned mechanics initially diagnosed the range of possible problems and explained their methodical process to fix them. They knew I had driven 80 miles for a diagnosis and pulled one of their experienced staff off another project to work on my vehicle while I waited. In about three hours--start to finish--they had completed the repairs. It was under $400 for parts and labor and my 4Runner runs like new. In contrast, another highly-reputable transmission shop that had conducted an error-code analysis and had test-driven my vehicle concluded that it needed to have its transmission rebuilt at a cost of $3,200.Over the past thirty-five years Ive only purchased quality used vehicles and hold on to them for along time. Our familys current two vehicles have a total of 400,000 miles on them. During this span Ive had plenty of service work done in several Midwestern and Mountain states. Even though it might be a longer drive for me, Ill be returning to Lenfer for anything beyond a periodic oil change.

By far the best oil change I’ve ever received. I had an appointment at 1 and got there 20 mins early. They were amazing and got me in right away. Oil change took about 20 mins. The technician came in and talked with me telling me my car was in good shape. He shared details with me no place has ever shared. The owner was great and made conversation with me. They seem honest and wholesome. They absolutely will have all my future business!

There are lots of auto places in the north suburbs. I like Lenfer because they are very competent, fast and their prices are fair. I always feel like they go the full distance to take care of me.

My son-in-law recently had work done to his car at Lenfer. Prior to this the dealership said the transmission repairs would be $2500. I spoke to Randy and explained what the dealer had estimated. Before he had a chance to see the car his estimate was $1600. So we were very happy with Randys price and had the car towed to his shop. After doing a thorough examination he determined that the car did not need all of the repairs stated by the dealer. All said and done the total repairs were $530! Randy had every opportunity to take advantage of the $1600 we already agreed on, however, he did the right thing and charged us for the work that he actually did!I will definitely use them again and recommend Lenfer to anyone!Thanks, Randy!

Best of the best! I found them online by reading all the positive reviews, and they deserved every one of them. They know there stuff, theyve always been upfront and honest with me, and they really work to help you out in any way they can. As far as honesty and integrity, which are probably the most important things to me in where I bring my vehicles, theyve been the best Ive ever dealt with. I drive a 1998 Sedan. As you can imagine, it has some issues that pop up here and there. A couple of the repairs, major engine work, have come close to a thousand dollars. Expensive, but they were big repairs. Something didnt quite seem right a few weeks after one of the repairs, so they had me bring it back in and found and fixed the problem at no additional cost. Great guys! My last visit didnt break a hundred bucks, and this was after repairing my brakes and giving me an oil change as well. These guys are top notch in my book.

Prices higher than expected for repairs

As a newcomer from California to Blaine I was in the need of a good local mechanic and a trustworthy automobile repair shop. I chose Lefners after I looked online saw their excellent reviews on Google and Yelp. Those reviews made me feel comfortable as a woman with moderate knowledge on cars choosing this shop. My boyfriend who is a car greek was unable to come there with me so I was flying solo taking my car in. The previous day my car had been making a creaky noise from the front when in motion, I thought suspension or shocks? As I entered the waiting room I crossed my fingers my bill would be honest and accurate. Often single women are pressured by shops for major unnecessary repairs when they take their cars in for repair alone. HOWEVER this was not the case at all at Lenfers. Instantly I liked the woman behind the counter. She was friendly, kind and empathetic! Yes, she was the owners wife, but after 5 minutes of being in there with her I knew I was in good, fair, and professional hands. The mechanics diagnosed and communicated with me what they had done and the results of the items they checked out. If Covid-19 was not around I would have given all of them a hug as I paid my bill which was under $50 for a diagnosis, air adjustments in tires, AND oil change. THANK YOU LEFNERS! I will bring my car in for future repairs!!!

Fantastic team! I thought I needed new brake pads, but they thoroughly inspected my car and said that I have plenty of life left in my existing pads. They even did research and shared with me that my concerns around a mushy feeling brake pedal is a common complaint for my car. They also did a great job of taking care of my oil change. This place is the creme de la creme! Not only are the staff lovely and professional they are willing to go out of their way to help! I brought a truck I was buying here for a once over. They let me know exactly what was wrong, and printed out invoices to help me negotiate a lower price. Sara then helped us with selling our old car, and hooking us up with repairs on the new one. This week long situation is boiled down to a punchy review, but mainly, what I want to get across is this: this shop helped me out in an extremely difficult time, and their service exceeded any expectation I could have ever had. 100/100 stars.

Lenfers rebuilt my transmission years ago, and they just this week replaced tie rods and the right control arm with lower ball joint and brakes. They are so helpful and affordable. I am so glad they are there doing what they do. Thank you!

Im paralyzed and use a 2001 Ford E150, which is equipped with a wheelchair left, to get around. The entire rear drive assembly needed replacement, everything from the differential, the axles, wheel bearings, and the housing. In an effort to save me money, Lenfer took my van to a shop that specializes in replacing rear drive assemblies with refurbished ones. When I had problems a few thousand miles later, Lenfer more than stood by the work. Despite having not done the repairs, Lenfer diagnosed and fixed the problem, charging me absolutely nothing for labor. Its nearly impossible to find that kind of integrity, especially in auto repair shops. Because of their honesty, their integrity, and the superb quality of their work, Lenfer has me as a customer for life. I could not recommend them higher.

Ive had multiple repairs done to my vehicles and other family vehicles at Lenfers. A couple years back Randy re-built the transmission in my moms 2001 Honda, its worked perfectly ever since. Theyve done alignments on a couple vehicles, to my satisfaction (Im picky). They also did a bunch of work on my in laws Honda Oddessey, accurate diagnosis, quality work and quality parts. At times they have suggested NOT repairing items that didnt need it.

They were fast, friendly and they went above and beyond to provide us exceptional service! This is my GO TO mechanic moving forward.

This place is awesome, honest & the only place Ill ever take my car after my 1st time there. On May 1st, I was driving from work in St. Paul and my car suddenly went GONG! on the passenger side and I felt some serious vibration in my steering wheel and saw it in my dashboard. Instinctively I pulled over looked under the car like the non-mechanic I am and decided it was best to drive across the street to my gym.After my workout, I figured it wasnt good to drive my car so I got a ride home. During the ride I started looking on google for places to tow my car without knowing what to do. At 9pm, I called a tow and picked Lenfer Automotive & Transmission because of other google reviews. Praying I would get a good deal I put my faith up and left my car there over night.At 7:30am, May 2nd I called, claimed my car and asked Dave to check out my mini-cooper. He told me he would get a chance to look at it today and call me back. He called me at 12:30pm the same day and told me it was only a bolt which broke in my car. He said the bolt held a bracket for my engine and it was ONLY $83.90. I was shocked...I know nothing about cars but if he would have said it was $1,900+ I would have had to figure it out and get my car fixed but he was honorable as the reviews wrote and he charged me the final bill of $83.90.Not only did they take good care of my car but Dave explained to me things about my mini-cooper I never knew. Like what type of oil is really required in the future and how I should maintain my vehicle for the long-term.This place is the best place in Minnesota to take your car if you can. Its worth every penny and more in terms of good honest service and passionate people. I recommend it to anyone.

I brought my car here to have a performance street steel flywheel and a stage 1 competition clutch kit installed. From the beginning it was a nightmare. The original installation was horrible. I had to pull over every half hour to let the transmission cool down to even shift. I took it back twice after that to have adjusted, and though it eventually drove, it was never satisfactorily smooth or worry free. Less than a year from their last adjustment, the transmission mount broke, which is very atypical and was due to the stress put on the mount from jamming and improper installation according to other mechanics I spoke to. Lenfer installed the new mount, but I had to pay for the part ($400). Within 2 years and 24,000 miles, the clutch kit failed all together. I was fed up with Lenfer and had another NAPA shop resurface the flywheel and install a new clutch kit. I have had no problem since and this other shop charged me $700 less than Lenfer for the same labor. I called them to explain the situation to Lenfer and provided them the receipt from another NAPA certified shop to no avail. They refuse to respond or stand by their work, blaming my heavy duty parts rather than their obviously incorrect initial installation that severely shortened the life of the clutch kit. Stay away from this shop! They charge more than other shops, dont know what they are doing, and dont stand by their work.

Lenfers is amazing. I had been told by both dealer and another independent repair shop that the only solution for my leaking differential on my 2011 Frontier Pickup was to replace the differential at a cost of over $3500. I stopped by Lenfers because they had rebuilt my sons Mazda transmission almost 20 years earlier, and they said they could repair the differential....at around $500. The final bill was less than $500 and the differential looks great, drives great and no leaks at all. Lenfers is a great option, especially for challenging or out of the box types of problems. However, I plan to return for all of my maintenance and repair on my Frontier. They take pride in their work and go above and beyond to find solutions most shops wont even think about.

Friendly and replaced my alternator twice under warranty. Just unlucky I got 2 bad refurbished alternators. Waiting room should have cable TV. Waiting for car watching ads is a little boring.
