This place is a great asset to the community!!I was able to come in and get help changing out a spoke and truing out my wheel.Thank you
Absolutely awesome place. Prices are so accessible, a generous lively spirit4d place. The volunteers made my day.
The staff is always helpful, they have fair prices, and they have everything youd need for your bike.
This bike store has the best customer service and helped me a lot on choosing the right bike, and has very good prices the best bike store near me by far.
Easily my favorite place to be on Venice Blvd. Quality community cycle people experience. Gentle sorts of all types eager to help you get your bike right. Highly recommend you fix your bike here, as this is an authentic co-operative bicycle service shop that truly serves the community and while we’re there together we get to experience a great place for building community. Take your kids here and teach them how to change their bike tube. Someone will be thrilled to walk you through it. They’re just that kind of peeps! Rave.
This place is the BEST! Because of Covid, their services are limited, but they are happy to sell bike parts so you can do your own repair and have a safe chat about how to do it yourself. Such an amazing service especially when all bike shops are super busy right now. Cant recommend this place enough
I needed tools and grease to change my pedals. I was in and out in under 10 minutes for 7 bucks.
You can tell they care about their craft. Had a enjoyable experience when buying a bike. They also walked through what other options are good such as locks, lights, and helmets.
Great hole in the wall. Nice people, good bikes and affordable prices.
Came across this shop and I’m very fortunate to have done so. Robert, Chad, and Tim were so kind, knowledgable, and helpful! They helped us with a variety of questions and were very patient in spite of a number of other customers requiring their attention. I highly recommend you pay these guys a visit and support this amazing community shop. Thanks again guys!
Very busy at times, so the volunteers arent always able to give everyone one-on-one attention, but their passion for bikes, biking, and helping people with both is really wonderful. My neglected commute bike turns out to have a lot of life left in it, and I was almost ready to throw it out. I never would have put the time or effort into it if all the tools and equipment werent available here.
Ive learned a few things and you can always buy cheap parts there. I dont know if they survived the pandemic though.
Super friendly and knowledgeable. Stop here first and they will rent you space and tools to get rolling and get smarter about bike maintenance and repair.
I came to Bikerowave after looking at for other stores for a used bike after my bike was stolen. Laurel, the volunteer at Bikerowave, Took the time to help me find a bike that was exactly what I wanted in the exact price range that I wanted to spend. This is such a valuable resource for the community, and I’m thankful to have been able to support them!
They were nice and helping me with my bike repair!
What an incredible asset to the neighborhood! The guys were so helpful and enthusiastic. Tom helped change out my punctured tube and patiently taught me as he was going. It was only 5.75 for the new tube and a patch on my old one and I really love that they educated me. We need more hands-on learning opportunities in the world! Highly recommend!!
This is the place where everybody knows your name, better yet where you want to know everybodys name. Particularly the knowledgeable persons. Cheerful places where everyone wants to help get your bike back on the road.
Friendly and knowledgeable service, great prices on refurbished bikes and parts.
They offer the best bike service for our local neighborhood.
Bikerowave is simply awesome!!! Their knowledgeable and friendly staff are there to help you with ANY of your bike problems or improvements. I highly recommend them.
Went in for basically a safety and quality check on a new bike, left with an incredibly comprehensive crash course on new bike setup and customization. They have every tool you could possibly need and a wealth of experience to guide you through it. Really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely return!
For $14 an hour you can work on your own bike and they have all the tools and extra help if you need it.
I first went here to get a new tube for a flat tire on my bike that was given to me, which I’ve been riding for some months. I was told it had been hit by a car and I thought that was why the back tire was rubbing on the frame. Turns out after going back today and asking someone to look further into it, my back axle was broken and was causing my back tire to slow me down and damage the tire, making me peddle twice as hard. Tyler, the volunteer who helped work on my bike was fantastic. He took the time and patience to check everything and did not stop until he found the problem. He was more helpful than anybody else I could have imagine taking this bike to and was teaching me along the way. I was thankful they took Apple Pay to pay and tip with my phone for the services. I am really lucky to have stumbled upon this place and love that I live so close to the shop for any future needs. I highly recommend them!
Hands down money well spent! I told them what was wrong, they helped me find used parts they had on hand, and they showed me how to fix it! I highly recommend this bike shop if youre willing put in some elbow grease.
A total gem! Please support your local bike co-op, consider volunteering your time, and tip if you can. A great place to get help with style and level of bike. Totally affordable bike parts and a great place to learn how to fix any problem with your bike. You can also build a bike from scratch. I cant say enough about this shop!
This place is great. If your a cyclists who loves to fix their own bicycle then this is the place to go.I did notice that volunteers were being selective about which people to help. People with less nicer looking bikes tend to be ignored. That usually makes a person feel lemons for the place. But the price to fix your own bike cant be beat especially the knowledge you gain as well.
I dont know jack about bikes so I was a little intimidated at the prospect of a DIY shop, but all the volunteers were super helpful. My bike is an older English model but they got me set up with the right tools so I could replace my saddle and adjust some squeaky brakes. They walked me through the whole process and also set me up with the lights, bell, and bottle cage I wanted. All new parts (they also have a wide selection of used) and an hour and a half of shop time came to $35. Will def return to learn more/as I update my bike.
This was my first time to any bike repair place, so I was a little intimidated. This place is great! They have bins full of bike parts that are inexpensive (most of their parts are donated) and a whole selection of tools and oils. You just put the bike on a stand and do whatever you want to it.My bike needed cleaning, re-oiling, brake pad repair and a wheel straightened. I kept mentioning this was my first visit, and they taught me everything. This is a DIY bike repair shop, but you should be able to handle most tasks unless its super intensive.I was there around two hours because I was thorough and didnt want to rush. My bike is nearly as good as new.And it cost $14! Other bike places were charging $75 - $100 for the same services. Plus, I now know how to do my own repairs now.DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
They were very quick and helpful.
Awesome PLACE! ( Great prices, people, environment, and you can learn! )I just finished bicycling Across America (Coast to Coast) Florida to California, and these guy helped me get my bike back in shape!
Inexpensive bike repairs + DIY instruction = the best bike shop around. If youre interested in learning more about bikes and gaining the basic skills needed to work on them, this place is for you.For 7 bucks an hour (plus the cost of any parts you need), a volunteer will guide you through the process of assessing and repairing your bike.Ive experienced varying hands-on levels. Some work on the bike for you and explain as they go along. Others explain each step and watch as you work. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. So if you want to do more (or less) of the work yourself, just let them know.If there is a lot of work that needs to be done to your bike, you can store it for up to a month. They accept bike donations - which they either restore and sell, or break down into used parts that they sell for super cheap. They are open on evenings and weekends but sometimes close early if no one comes in. So be sure to check the hours and call if you come later.
This place is like my church. I go here to unwind, relax, and work on my ride. The people who devote their time and energy in helping others are fantastic. Everyone is kind, welcoming, and eager to lend a hand. Ive been to the shop about a dozen times, and each time go I learn something new about my bike -- how to fix a flat, how to replace a tire, how to install brakes, how to keep installed brakes from squeaking, etc.. I highly recommend coming by the shop to work on your bike yourself, rather than spending the money for someone else to do it. The takeaway is so much better!
Went in knowing nothing - within an hour had everything shipshape on my 1985 Cresta. Im pretty confident that I can handle all maintenance and routine repair work now, especially with their tools and equipment. So awesome.
New to LA & eager to fix up a newly acquired bicycle, I luckily stumbled upon this place while looking for an affordable bike repair shop. I had called a handful of local bike shops to inquire about rates for a tuneup & received such lackluster input, I knew it wasn’t worth my time or business to go that route. I learned how to clean my hubs, re-grease my bearings, bring my chain back to life, switch out new tires, & patch an inner tube all for $66! If you have the time to learn, a healthy attitude, and want to support the cooperative culture of Venice, check this place out!
For very little money you get access to all the tools and gear you need to fix your bike. Theres always cool & knowledgeable folks around to help you out if youre just learning. Great little place!
I went in last night with my old hybrid. Dave welcomed me and I told him I needed my wheel trued. Dave guided me through the whole thing. My wheels did not need to be trued it was my brakes. We went through my bike and did so many improvements. I am not handy at all and David was the perfect guide. The vibe in the shop was mellow and supportive. I am coming back and anxious to learn more. My old bike is running perfectly. Fantastic shop.
One of the workers helped me understand more about how my rear derailleur works. He was decently hands-off. He would come by for a bit and explain something to me and then walk away while I made the adjustment. Then he would come back and check up on me. Rinse and repeat. Though I didnt totally like this because I didnt feel very competent, I think that it will result in me being more competent in the long run, so I am grateful for that. And the guy who helped me didnt even charge me because I spent ~30 minutes in the shop, total. And my rear derailleur is so much better now, and I can probably fix it on my own now!
Great experience. Helpful volunteers. Leave with your hands a little dirty and more respect for your ride.
Cant complain, its definitely a useful bike shop, especially if youre on a budget. Totally awesome place to get your bike repaired. You rent the time/space on the bike rack from them. They lend you their tools that are on-hand, some expertise if needed, and you repair / upgrade your bike on your own. Really cool idea, and this is a bike co-op, not a for-profit bike shop. Most (if not all?) of the people who work here are unpaid volunteers. Ive been here a few times in the past, and have gotten lots of work done for a good deal, and met some really cool locals while in the process.
Wow what a friendly helpful place. Built a whole bike super fast with tips from all of the guys. Thank you all!!
They helped me to find a bike that really suited all my needs. Wish they also have more affordable bikes.
Helped me find & fix my own brakes wen I was low on funds... Needed tools, they had. Showed me how to install new brake wires. Awesome bike co-op.
No frills, DIY bike repair shop. Nice people. Not a professional shop, but not supposed to be. More like a volunteer low budgie community place for low tech work. Not up on latest technology, But again thats not what is for. If its a good fit for your needs, great! If not, then thats okay, go to a pro shop thats better for your needs.
Best shop around. Everything is priced to sell, tons of used parts, sometimes extremely high quality for extremely cheap. The new parts are cheap as well. Extremely knowledgeable staff from simple fixes to technical ones, they wont do the work for you, but they will guide you through every step of the repair and help when you needed so you can learn bike repair for yourself. Stand time is cheap too $4-1/2 hour $7-hour and free for SMC students as long as you have the valid semester sticker. Great place, go check it out, theres even sweet chalk drawings in the bathroom.
We finally made it over, and are happy we did. It has a great community vibe and almost everyone there was friendly and helpful. We also learned lots about bike repair and maintenance!
I love this place very much it is very near and dear to my 💓
Great people. You must love to learn and get your hands dirty. It is always productive.
Great do it yourself spot with fair prices. They have some staff to help, but pretty busy. If you are new to biking I would recommend just waiting for someone to help you versus working on your own bike. I learned that you can make your front brake too sensitive, the hard way (broke both of my elbows).
This is how all bike shops should operate. Psh. All stores should operate like this. Life would be better for everyone.
Wooowwww what a great place. if you need help working on your bike/want to learn how to work on your bike/work on your bike yourself/talk about bikes/buy new or used parts/meet awesome people/get involved with volunteering at a bike shop then this is your spot! everyone here is so helpful and loves bikes! definitely go here.
Was in there way to long.! Getting things that I absolutely did not come in for, nor needed. I have to go back for re-fix! wow
It occupied three dimensional space in a friendly manner. I approve.
They have done the repair job quickly and perfectly
Hoping I have time to go back again soon. Helpful and chill
Great costumer service! They showed me how to change my new bike tire. Thank you! Will shop here again
I worked with a guy named Mike. Incredibly knowledgeable and kind technician. Definitely had a knack for teaching. An amazing amount of patience for newbies like me. It can be tough when the place gets busy and you have to wait your turn for a technician, but otherwise, the cost of the place is so little, I cant complain. What really stood out was how professional a couple of the people were. This amazed me considering they were all volunteers.I definitely recommend it and will certainly be visiting it again!
Great place if you are willing to be patient, learn something and are ok with getting your hands dirty. Dave is really helpful. And they also have used parts for sale.
Great place to maintain yer bike. Expert help onsite, tools. Nice vibe.
Bikerowave has the friendliest staff! They know all bout any kind of bike. They let tou use their tools or teach you how to repair change or w.e. it is you need done. Thet have a lounging area too.... Best place to get used new.parts for your bike
I love bikerowave 👍👍👍🚲🚲🚴
Great community bike shop. Do it yourself with assistance, low cost
This bike shop is a great place. Friendly staff. And the owner is a good guy. Great experience.
Went there to get my bicycle fixed. They fixed my bicycle, but also taught me a bit about bicycle mechanics. Fantastic place, great people.
Such great people, awesome teachers and all the tools you need!
If you dont want to pay high bike shop prices, but would rather learn how to fix and maintain your own wheels, this place is your place.
I am Filing a Complaint with Los Angeles County Bureau of Public Safety.Bikerowave has volunteers who think that Arguing with paying customers is goodAnd MORE IMPORTANTLY, Bikerowave Management allows Paying customers to leave the shop with a bicycle which is UNSAFE TO RIDE.
Great community Co-op to get yourself up & running on a bike...the people hear are great, really helpful
The volunteers suck. The customers are nicer. A complete waste of time. This pumps dont work . Jade is very monotone. Alejandro is ignorant and does not speak english. He sort of just stands around and shrugs his shoulders. This place is useless unless your just using their tools which are unorganized. Total crapper. Dont waste your time
The best place to do anything bike related
Absolutely horrible, I took a brand new bike to them to get some adjustments made, only to get a flat tire from their product 10 minutes after going on my way home. The. Once I called they told me “they didn’t want to talk to me, and they were going home.”
#supportlocalbuz wow !!! Impressive with this idea of repair -learn to fix your own bike! These place is awesome and people over there are so friendly!
Awesome place. Cheap way of getting your bike repaired and you learn it to boot.
Friendly and helpful, picked up a cool second hand bike.
Had some bike issues needed help with the volunteers were very nice and a 5 star bike kitchen!
Very very bad place will never go again
Awesome place, good prices, friendly and helpful volunteers
Love Bikrowave - All the crew is awesome and very helpful. Bikrowave is a great part of our community.
Love this place everyone is knowledgeable and so cool
It is NOT a commercial bike repair shop where they do it for you. The staff supports you to Do It Yourself, with stands, tools, advice.
A very unique and important place for bicycles and community
Hands down the best Bicycle Co-Op in Los Angeles. Nuf Said.
Fix your own bike.
If you bike more than a few times a month, and especially if you take your trusted steed out on sandy paths on one of our most-of-the-year gorgeous SoCal days, youll need some expert help keeping your bike happy and healthy. Thats where the friendly, if slightly grungy, folk at Bikerowave come in. Visit the happily haphazardly-decorated storefront on Venice Blvd just East of Centinela and pay a mere $4 per half-hour or $7 per hour of rack-time (that means the pole your bike gets clamped to so that its raised up to working height) and a volunteer will coach you through the hands-on simple procedures any bike needs for regular maintenance. For a little more money, theyll do the work for you. Bonus: A great taco truck has a regular spot nearby. Try the Sopes made by the friendly folk at Cemitas.
Love this place. They really try to help the public.
The best bike shop and the most friendly people!
There are volunteers and a head mechanic here to help those in need with their bicycle.
I fix my bike with the help of the friendly volunteers. Over several visits, I have replaced disc brake pads, replaced derailer cables, replaced a spoke and trued the wheel.
Great resource for everything a cyclist needs or needs to know
Take your bike and all questions, youll know how to service your bike by yourself eventually!
Outstanding place for bikes, maintenence, and community
Great unpretentious bike store for the
Great people
This place is the best!
They dont charge enough for anything they sell.
