Excellent service and staff. Extremely honest and straightforward regarding services your car needs. I have been coming to this shop for years for oil changes and luckily that has been all that was needed until recently. My check engine light came on, they ran a diagnostic check and performed the necessary repairs. They always explain what is necessary and why. The mechanic, Justin, test drove the car after the repairs were done to make sure all was in good order and indicated he thought my steering coupler was faulty (which I hadnt noticed was an issue). He said I could check to see if that was covered under warranty. It was, the car manufacturer had extended the warranty for that particular part so I was able to get it fixed at a dealership for no charge. I was grateful for the advice and realize a shop not looking out for their customers could have easily recommended they perform the repair. Car-X definitely does business the correct way.

The manager Dave was professional, didnt try to screw me or sell me parts I didnt need. The price was cheaper than a quote I got at meineke by a lot. I waited in store and everything was done promptly, I wasnt waiting for hours like I have at other places even with an appointment.. great job car-x, I will definitely be returning in the future.

Dave the Manager is amazing! He has great communication skills and empathy. He tells you how it is and isnt going to up sale you. I appreciate how quick the service is here. They really take care of you.

I am a Korean who has just come to America.Recently, I bought old used car and got a problem.They inspected my car and told me whether it was a safety problem or not, and said that even if it was fixed, the cost-effectiveness would be low. There was no inspection fee, and no useless extra repairs. I will never forget this gratitude for the rest of my life.

As always my experience with Car-X has been great the Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They get the job done right the first time around. I always recommend them to my family and friends. The guys at the Odana St shop are the best in Madison.

The only reason Car-X isnt my regular mechanic is because I moved away. But when I couldnt get in near my house, they were my first call, even though its no longer a convenient location for me. They are always accommodating, helpful and honest in my experience. Even when I was bringing them absolute heaps, they cared for me and my car like we had a million bucks and did whatever they could to keep my car safely running for as little as possible. Terrific service.

They are very polite, courteous, and also clearly involved with their customers on a personal level. The service is also top notch. My alignment was perfect. They came back into the waiting area to speak with me multiple times to ensure that I was getting exactly what I wanted. I have used this Car-X location for several years with two different vehicles. They have always done excellent work and I trust their recommendations. On this recent visit, I asked Dave to address a continuous issue Ive had with tire pressure on my older car. Dave gave me a free tire pressure gauge as well as advice on looking regularly at my tire pressure, what to measure, and why I might need to visit them again to review tire pressure. Over several years and two cars, I really trust these guys because theyve kept my cars in working order for a very reasonable price.

If you live within 25 miles of the Odana Rd. Car-X it would be worth going there if you have ANY type of car care need. I bought and had tires mounted there and got a good deal and great service. Been there before and will keep going back.

Very good shop. Fantastic deal on 4 tires and a free alignment check with tire purchase. Did not try and sell me anything i did not need and was not pushy. Mechanics know what they are doing. Showed me a printout so i knew my car was in spec. Definitely earned my business and family and friends business. Will be seeing you soon for my oil change.

Dave was very helpful. We had to come to Wisconsin for some classes and we had to get an oil change before heading back to Indiana. At first it seemed like we werent going to be able to get the oil change, but Dave made sure he got it sone for us even though they closed soon.

After trying & failing to get in at 2 shops (including our regular garage) on our side of town, called this one on the other side of Madison. Friendly, cheerful staff got us in same-day, quickly identified & repaired our errant heat shield, and for an extremely reasonable price got us back on the road in a flash. Appreciated the free Wi-fi,, and the surprisingly comfortable chairs in the waiting area too. Special kudos to the guy at the counter, who also dealt calmly and patiently with the angry fellow who arrived late for his appointment.

Came in from out of town with an unexpected problem: underside part dragging. They took us immediately, fixed the problem promptly. Very courteous, no charge. Dave was great and got us back on the road right away. I highly recommend.

These guys are great! Ive had my oil changed here. Recently took my car in because I thought a wheel might need balancing. They listened, test drove it, diagnosed it as a wheel bearing failure. Thats a warranty repair so I told them Id take it to the dealer. They thanked me and refused any payment for their time. Ill definitely go back!

I recently brought my car in for a front wheel alignment. They showed me the before and after alignment measurements. The back wheels did not need an alignment. Immediately after leaving the lot, I noticed that I had to hold the steering wheel slightly to the right to drive straight. I scheduled another appointment approximately 2 weeks later to have them recheck the alignment. The new measurements they showed me were completely different from last time. The front alignment was not within specification and now they were requiring both front and back alignments. Its only been about 150 miles since they performed the front alignment. They offered to do the rear alignment for free, but the back wheels were too rusted to adjust. Good job for effort. However, they had poor execution, quality, and consistency. I wont go back unless I have to.

Brought my car in several months ago because my car was overheated and died. I also noticed there was coolant wherever I was parked for long periods at a time. I relayed this information to the technicians.They told me I needed a new radiator and I had it replaced. I paid over 1000 for this service. The next day it died. I brought it in again and they said that it was my alternator. I asked why this wasnt fixed the first time and they tried to justify themselves. Whatever. Spent another 1000 to get it fixed and I had no more issues (total of 2000).I thought I just had a stroke of bad luck.However, my fiance brought her car in this past weekend because it was having issues moving out of the first gear. She brought it in and they explained that it would cost 1400 to fix. Not sure of the details, I wasnt present. She paid and had it fixed and it ran fine- for one day. The day after she got her car fixed, the check engine light came on and the car is starting to have the same issues again. The technicians said that she would need to bring it in to see what is going on with it.Im not a mechanic, but it seems like there is something a little off about this and Im becoming suspicious that this CarX location is guilty of bad practices.They should fix my fiances car free of charge for not not resolving her issues like we expected them to and charging her for whatever they did because they sure as hell didnt fix it.Get a second opinion before letting these guys fix your vehicle.

$98/hr for labor? meh, a bit much but I can handle it and the estimate was only an hour... not to bad.150% - 600% mark up for parts? forget it... I wont go here ever again unless it is an emergency.On the flip side they did give me a ride to and from my house after I dropped it off there... so decent service.

Im currently waiting for my vehicle to finish getting its oil change. Affordable, coffee, paper, clean area lots of chairs. But theres golf on tv (snore) and the mechanics are shouting eff bombs in the garage and its very audible here in the waiting area. I swear a lot but others surely dont care for it. And its just not professional. But Ill come back if I have another good coupon.

I have had my vehicles serviced by Car-X of Madison for over the past 10 years. I have always love the service, customer care and most of all the piece of mind I have when I pull away from their shop. They have always made recommendations for me and my family to be safe on the road. The staff always has told me or my wife if a repair was worth fixing, you dont get that at every car shop. Trust me! The staff has always made me want to come back there!

Great job with my front brakes. The front brake pads of my Audi A7 started to rub against the rotor. I got an estimate from the dealer and was going to take it to them. When I had taken the car in a month ago they had mentioned that the rear brakes were wearing down and would need to be replaces soon. I was expecting to have to replace both front and rear brakes! I decided to have carX look at it first. The agreed that the front brakes needed to be replace, the left one was rubbing and the rotor was running about 20 degrees hotter than the right. They also looked at the rear and told me that they were down but I have time before they needed to be replaced. The got the front brakes done for me for about 150 less than the dealer had quoted and I didnt need to replace the rear. Great service from Jeff and Lars. Thanks

Im always fearful that a mechanic will charge you for unneccesary and expensive repairs. When I took my car in with multiple error codes that typically indicate the need for a new transmission, CarX advised me that it could be a faulty battery. We switched out the battery and I havent had any problems since. This place has knowledgeable mechanics who arent out to screw over their customers.

Called and made an appointment, Lars was very courteous, was in and out with a very reasonable solution/ repair, I will recommend and return !! Thanks again

These people always add up things you dont need and markup prices for parts and others so high. You end up paying more than thousand dollars even if you show up for minor things. Watch out for that sweet talking dude at the desk. Mechanics are not professional. I found nail in my tire after I changed tires. They offer guarantee but if the tire gets bad they will fiqure out ways to charge you more.

I go here because they are great guys and seem to do honest work and they usually have stuff done quickly. They fixed my brakes, and when the brake lines started leaking a week later they didnt charge me any labor, a fair deal.

I have only gotten oil changes/tire rotations done here, but they have always gotten the work done on time. They have a waiting area but since it is close to other stores, you can wander around while they work.

This particular CarX has now done work on my WRX, BMW 325i, Jeep Cherokee, Volvo V70r, and my girlfriends Dart. Theyre always quick to give out quotes and explain their pricing before trying to do any work.Not sure why people are giving low stars #s simply because they didnt like the price. If you dont like it, go elsewhere.

Im skeptical of mechanic shops. That skepticism increases when its a chain, even a small chain. But if you want to get an oil change done cheap, you have to go somewhere willing to lose money on it in hopes of bringing in a new customer. For the most part, thats chains. So then you have to be really perceptive about when theyre trying to upcharge you for something or when they legitimately found a problem.Car-X runs a 3 for $50 oil change special that has kept me going back for years. And yes, they do the full XYZ points check designed to uncover whatever work you need done. Yes they usually find something. But no, I dont think theyve ever tried to be dishonest or deceptive and tried to upsell me on something the car didnt actually need.A couple times I took them up on their offer. Their prices were standard shop prices-- usually they base it on how many hours the book says the job will take, plus parts cost (with a significant markup). So they werent a deal but werent unreasonable either.Basically, I go there for my oil changes, and when we discover other work that needs to be done, I price compare. Sometimes its worth paying extra for the convenience of having it done right there. Sometimes Id rather take it to my regular mechanic who will give me a better deal.But, knowing that they wont be the cheapest, I feel like I can trust them. And I appreciate a great oil change deal.

Had my car serviced here and a few days later had the misfortune of having a ball joint fail on my front wheel (I give that 0/5 stars). I was on my way to work an overnight shift and had it towed back to Carx. I never called, or told them what happened, planning on calling after getting some rest. I woke up to a message from Lars saying that they had found the problem and fixed it. Pretty great service.

I didnt know it could take an hour to service a burnt-out headlight. But I expressed my discontent and got a discount so I suppose that fixed the problem...Smart Toyota does it in 10 minutes for MUCH cheaper, might I add.

Lars is the best with an honest appraisal. FREE diagnosis was a plus after paying another dealer for a diagnosis and not part of the repair bill. Lars told us what to keep an eye on that didnt need repair

INCOMPETENT AND INSULTING. These pieces of work KILLED MY TOYOTA ENGINE - Toyota engines just dont die out of the blue! It takes major horrible work to destroy a Toyota engine, and these guys went the extra mile to ruin it. These arrogant hack mechanics FORGOT to put oil back in my car after they flushed it out (after doing repairs my car did NOT need, I only had a problem with my starter), tried to scare me into paying over $4000 to replace the engine ASAP. I went to them after getting a second opinion from another more reputable mechanic who could tell precisely what happened and knew they were at fault, but they condescended to me and practically laughed in my face. When Consumer Protection contacted them, they LIED about the work they had done and insulted me to boot. Be forewarned, THIS COMPANY HAS NO SCRUPLES AND WILL SCREW YOU._______Response to CarXs response to my initial feedback:Just because you respond here with more of the same does NOT mean you werent in the WRONG. You guys killed my car and were condescending and misogynist when I came back to you with issues. Went in for a alignment and they said they couldnt do a alignment because the have to fix the frontend 1st. ... Idler arm, pitman arm, front upper control arms, cam bolt setFor a whopping $1,338...that day I Talked and took it to my local mechanic down the street in Middleton and they said everythings in good condition but your water pump is leaking. No work done just looked at it. ( They dont do alignments there, they take it to their partner shop)So I took it to Tires Plus and alignment done no problem and they look over the front end tooSo ya I would not recommend Car-xReminds me of Jiffy Lube trying to hit quota to stay in business

I was in for a simple oil change with a Groupn Certificate. The service was fast and friendly, no pressure for add-ons or additional service. I would go back with or without a discount coupon.

Two different times the CarX shop on Odana road has been able to correctly diagnose a problem with my car that was wrongly diagnosed by another well-regarded Madison-area mechanic. I also have always assumed CarX was slightly more expensive because it is a chain and they rely on drop-in work, but Ive price shopped a couple of jobs and found CarX to be right in line. Theyve helped me out in a pinch a number of times.

Went in for an oil change, they did a complementary fluid top off but didnt fully close the coolant lid, the car kept on throwing the coolant like crazy every time I drove it for over 10 minutes. I had a terrible time thinking the car had something bad with the engine or the coolant system until I finally learnt what they had done. May not have been intentional on their part but it was a traumatic experience for me.Otherwise they were noce and explained things to me about my car in a professional way.

Thank you CarX crew and especially Lars, who got our out-of-town visitors in for a major repair on very short notice. You did a super job, above and beyond! You really saved the day!
