Best bagels in the Midwest. JUST like east coast bagels! Good variety on their menu but all flavors listed are not always available. 4 stars instead of 5 because the quality of the staff they have working there has declined over time. Staff used to be cheerful and friendly and now the staff that works there acts like they hate their jobs. Yes, they take your order, take your money, and make your food, but their attitude while doing those things now leaves a lot to be desired.Yes, I will continue to go there because they have the best bagels, but I will just hope they eventually hire people who actually like working there.Bagel varieties that I enjoy most from there are ancient grains, sesame, blueberry, chocolate chip, and dark rye. They also have many other flavors as well.The sandwich I like best from there is egg, cheddar, and turkey sausage on an ancient grain bagel. YUM!

Just bought them half an hour back, they are cold and not baked well. Bought them to my office on my birthday,Kept hearing two things Happy Birthday and bagels are not so good. You should probably been to a better place

Good Food, Major Staffing IssuesThis particular Einstein Bagels has good food and service when they are open but have been having ongoing staffing issues of some sort. Two times in the last few weeks they have had signs on the door when I get there saying Due to staffing issues, we are not opening or ...are closing at [time]. This has happened fairly often in the last few months and if the company doesnt get its act together I fear they will lose their customer base.

LITERALLY THE WORST. I have gone there probably four times and every single time they get my order wrong. I am not picky but now I am pregnant and I ordered a turkey avocado bacon sandwich. I get back home and open it to find a cucumber, cream cheese spinach sandwich. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Every single time I order a sandwich its way off. Im partly to blame for not checking my sandwich but they wrap it all up and bag it and Im usually in a hurry. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. There was one other person ordering when I ordered and we ordered the SAME SANDWICH! They literally just had to make two!!!!!!

Food is good in my experience but Im really sick of walking into the store 15-20min before closing and having someone yell WERE CLOSED! at me! I understand that walking in before close is kind of rude, but with even 10min left I should be able to get a quick bagel. Additionally, on several occasions Ive ordered a coffee and if theres someone in line behind me who orders food they will make the food first (fine, I am patient) and then theyve helped other customers before even asking another employee to help out with drinks?? And half the time what seems like the entire staff is just behind the counter talking about random stuff like their pay and not paying attention to customers WHO HAVE BEEN WAITING 10MIN FOR THEIR FOOD.I NEVER, EVER, EVER!!!! Write bad reviews, but this was the last straw. Id rather go to the Wendys next door where the staff are rude but at least they make your food fast.

The food itself is excellent and the location is convenient. That said, on my last visit I witnessed the manager berating the front line employee for five minutes straight during a rush. While the food is good, Im not inclined to give them business when such disregard is given to employees in front of customers.

Even though it’s a chain shop the staff here are super friendly and relaxed, and it feels like a neighborhood spot. The baristas know my name and remember my usual order (which usually bothers me, but here it feels nice!), and even ask about how I’m doing in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. A testament to hiring great, customer forward employees.

They always have a good selection of bagels, sandwiches and coffee thats fresh, plus a decent rewards program. But they seem to be chronically understaffed during busy periods. Ive had to wait over 20 minutes just for two bagels with cream cheese. If they can fix the staffing issue itd be a five star place

Not a great visit. We stopped in mid-morning, and were the only ones at the counter. And we waited for service... even though there were at least three people somewhere on the other side of the counter. No one acknowledged us - Well be right with you, - or even made eye contact, frankly. Finally, someone came to the counter from the back and attempted to kill us with kindness. But no recognition of the wait time... which was probably about 4-5 minutes. Food was fine.

Very disappointed. I stopped in to get a bagel bucket. Worst service Ive ever had here. The restaurant had 2 people in it. Both had their orders & were eating. The girl behind the counter looks at me, turns her back & starts to organize the prep area. She looked at me twice more & each time turned away. The 2 girls at the registers chatted away with each other. I was in there 5 minutes before anybody asked me for my order. Again, the restaurant had 2 people in it and they both had their orders. Finally, one girl asks me if Im ready. I name off 3 different bagels for my bagel bucket. Plain, blueberry & honey oat. All out for the day. They had like 4 chocolate chip bagels left but a bunch of odd bagels that Ive never known anyone who actually eats them. It was 7:55 am. They open at 6:00 am. An hour & 55 minutes & theyre out of the most common bagels sold. Poor planning, poor inventory management & horrible service.

If you like lox and bagels youve got to stop here. Get it on a bagel thin. A great way to start the day. Its a fun atmosphere, and the staff are always nice to you.

In my opinion they are the best bagels from a chain store. The store is always pleasant and clean, and they do a good job of keeping a wide selection of bagel available. The merger with Caribou is great too, because you can get your coffee and breakfast in one stop.

Beside having a friendly staff and my favorite bagels, my son tried the blended mocha and my daughter tried the blended campfire mocha. According to them, much better than Starbucks. I agree. Great job! Well worth the trip.

The bagels are small & over priced in my opinion. Can go to Hy-Vee for cheaper & bigger bagels. The blonde girl working seemed irritated, frustrated or just plain hated her job. There were only two other people inside besides myself. One lady was already seated & had her food. I let the gentleman that came in after me go ahead since it was my first visit & wasnt sure what I wanted to order. She proceeded to make his order before she could help me. When she had time to get my order, I ordered three cheese bagels (all that was left), not cut & a soda to go. There were no straws left so I asked for one while waiting. Sat patiently waiting for straw & bagels. All she had to do was grab three of the bagels & place them in a bag & give me a straw. She couldnt do that until the previous guys order was complete but then she burnt his order. Answered the telephone very rudely while I was there waiting. While I was STILL waiting for my simple order, she advised the guy that she burnt his order & he had to order something else but I already ordered the last of the cheese bagels. I felt bad for the guy as he said there really wasnt anything else that he wanted. So while he was trying to figure it out, she handed me my bag of bagels finally. I had to mention the straw again & then I got a weird look from her & she said that they are over by the soda machine. I had to say again that there werent any & needed to be restocked & she finally got but completely annoyed by my simple request. Honestly I dont know how she can handle a busier timexif she cant handle technically two customers at once. I would also hate to see it if anyone orders coffee from there as it would take forever. I dont know who this girl is but after reading the reviews I see that Im not the only customer that noticed her. Terrible at multi tasking & customer service in general & if I were the manager she would be fired as it looks like she is the main issue at that location.

Tasty bagels. Nice variety of both bagel and schmear for the dozen packs to go. In addition to bagels there are also breakfast and lunch sandwich options. Havent tried lunch but the breakfast sandwiches are reallllly good. Caribou coffee is available in this location as well though have not tried those products.Parking is great and there is a stoplight so youre not stuck at the intersection when you exit.Friday mornings are often busy so plan a little time if youre trying to get the weekly treat for work. (Havent tried it but understand that you can order ahead and pick up.)

I have gone here since the late 1990s. They are one of the best bagel places in Madison. My personal favorite is chocolate chip. I highly recommend them.

Stopped in yesterday to get a Nova Lox bagel for breakfast. Realized upon getting to work that the new worker had forgotten to put the lox on the bagel, so it was just the cream cheese, tomato, onions, and capers. (Side note: actually a pretty good combo for a bagel if you like the toppings on the lox bagel, but not lox. Give it a shot sometime). Called the location and talked to the manager who was very apologetic; he insisted that we stop in this morning to pick up our free lox bagel and a coffee on the house. It wasnt necessary, but it was a nice gesture on their part. I stop into this Einsteins location as a treat once in a while to shake up my breakfast options. They always have a nice selection of bagels out, good service, and hot coffee. No reason to not come back in the future.

Nicely remodel. Thank you for not getting rid of the Coca-Cola fountain drinks. Most of the Caribou /Einstein locations have. I tend to not go to those any longer when I travel because of it.

I havent had an Einstein Bagel for many years because I havent been near a store. I was near the Washington street store in Madison, WI, so I agerly popped in for a dozen. Wow, they either changed or the staff is not making them very well. They were no better than those grocery store bought packs of cardboard. The skin of the bagel was as dry and dull as a loaf of bread that was dusted with flour. Not the shiney steamed version of yesteryear that had that soft chewy inside and a tuff chewy skin. The quality of the texture was awfully bad too. Also to mention the workers were not very good at their job with an obvious lack of care. In one visit they have lost a fan of their product and a big dissappointment. What a waste of time and money.

This place is a joke. The customer service here is terrible, every time, without fail. Today for example, we came in and waited about three minutes to get our order taken, even though we were the only one in line & there were five people behind the counter. Once our order finally got taken I ordered a iced mocha & asked if it could not be very sweet. The lady behind the counter, blonde hair and glasses, sarcastically asked me, You want a mocha thats not sweet? & laughed and rolled her eyes. My boyfriend asked for an orange juice and she snapped at him to, Go get it from the fridge then. After we ordered, she snatched the card out of my boyfriends hands. By the time I actually got my coffee we were completely done with our meals. This is just one example of the terrible service we get every time we come. We come here because we like the food & prices, but after countless terrible experiences they will definitely be losing our business. The owner needs to take a serious look at his employees and management. Ive spent years in customer service & when employees are consistently rude and cranky it says something about the way they are being treated by their management team.

I remember visiting as a kid, and its only gotten better!This location recently underwent a remodel but still provides the same great early morning bagel breakfast! New additions including caribu coffee options!Its nice to sit down and enjoy a small meal and relax, or on the way to work for a bite in the car.

One of the Managers (female) is pretty amazing. No matter how badly customers might treat her, she just hangs in there, while smiling, too. Its inspirational. Dont be cheap...tip employees who deserve your thanks. Please?

When it comes to big chain bread/bagels spots, I prefer Einstein Bros. over Panera, Big Apple Bagels, etc. Their garden veggie cream cheese is my favorite and I like both their breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I typically visit Gotham Bagels on the Capitol Square, but Einstein Bros. is a good option if Im on the east side or dont feel like going onto the Isthmus.

Absolutely frustrating. I like bagels and coffee and been a regular since 2015. When i was in Middleton, I always visited university store and the staff is super nice and friendly. However, east Washington, manager is not customer friendly. when i visited today 2019/04/29 around 9:15 AM, she starting questioning that I broke the line. I guy who was behind me mentioned to her I was just off for a second and he says I am perfectly fine. For no reason, she totally talked nonsense for 2 mins and then didnt acknowledge my free coffee when I had 75 points.I didnt use the points earlier and told her that i dont know about your app but this shows that I have free coffee, she was very rude. may never go there again.

Would like to give a higher rating but dont believe its warranted. Two and three visits ago they were out of eggs (!?) and therefore unable to prepare complete breakfast sandwiches; last week I even called ahead before going there (out of my way, I might add). They close at 5pm weekdays. Id think itd be important to have eggs. Sometimes theyre out of orange juice. Staff turnover appears comparatively high. Three stars because I like the food very much when its available.

Stuff was good, staff was little rude. When I have ordered Bagle and they mis delivered the order to our table. When I approached back the lady in counter throwed it away in a rude manner.

Expect to be disappointed. The last couple of visit there I have been. Today I went there a little after 8 and they had a very few bagels left. They didnt even give out coupons or other hand outs. Today they lost 3 costumers when I was in there. I felt like they didnt even care.I love the bagels but you need to get there early to get what you want.

Great food, great coffee, poor communication. They need to work on shouting out names when orders are ready. There were several instances that food just sat for pick up because they did not say the names loud enough. Those of us who noticed began to crowd one side of the room, blocking people from getting coffee or just obstructing foot traffic.At no fault of the barista, a cappuccino took over 20 mins to make. They only have one machine for the job and our order was behind 4 other orders. On a busy morning, expect to wait.I would go back and still recommend these restaurants. The manager needs to take a moment and teach the workers to feel comfortable shouting names during busy times.
