Im glad to have a big Asian market near by. Like most big Asian markets, they have ten times more items than typical supermarkets. They have a wonderful produce section. Most of the store is very neat and orderly. Take your own bags to pack or ask for an empty cardboard box.
If your into Asian supermarkets, this is a great place to go. I lived in China for 13 years and this store took me back to my hometown. I was finally able to find some things I havent seen in the US for awhile. The prices are good as well.
Veg is not as fresh as it should be. It is also pricy.
You could find everything for asian cuisine. But not as clean as other super market
If you are Chinese or are familiar with Chinese culture this place is fine. Nothing fancy but will generally have some of the key items you are looking for. For me that was sushi rice and miso.
Great grocery store everything is so fresh out here .
No katsu nori, sometimes the fish smell permeates the store. Wide selection otherwise
Great Asian goods a very fun place
Have a lots of my different sauces I need to cook with and some good household things and great knives I need for chopping dicing cutting
I love this place! Always amazing prices and selection of produce and meats. They dont always have my favorite snacks but make up for it by having a great selection of hotpot supplies. Its a tad pricier than 99 Asian Supermarket down the street but the quality of the produce is more consistent here.
Great prices, their produce is generally ok but sometimes hit or miss. Same with their meat. Great selection of tofu and other soybean products at cheap prices. Extensive Chinese snack selection.
Theres a lot of amazing stuff here that you cant find elsewhere. Regular grocery stores dont carry bags of MSG, jars of laoganma, or cheap frozen jiaozi, but the Super HK pulls through.
Get your spices or Asian sauces (large) half prices of grocery store or Amazon. Definitely need to know EXACTLY what you want (suggest you have photo) most labels not in English.
Excellent good price nice workers
Reminded me of some markets in Chinatown San Francisco and Montreal. Beought some comfort to me although it was busy. Pretty well organized for size. Really packed in variety for POC to do all their cooking needs. Did get a little lost so looking forward to going back and figuring out where stuff is more and more.
Very nice service, available most of Chinese food stuff, but the shopping environment within the market could be better.
Super 88 or now its called Hong Kong Market is a great place to get all your Asian groceries a huge variety of items that you wont find in your basic supermarket. Be prepared to spend some time cause of all the different things
I like coming here for the variety of asian items that the local stop n shop doesn’t carry, the offer a huge variety in fresh produce, fish and meats
Reasonable price for food. Very convenient to come here with bus or drive. please bring your own bag. They are banning plastic bags charging 5 cent for each.
It is more a Caribbean store than Asian. So many haitian so go there to buy their groceries.I like it there
A small Asian supermarket in the area that has most of what we Asians need for our weekly groceries shopping. Not the most complete or the greatest choice of selection in the greater Boston area, but more than some Asian countries would stock of the non native Asian foods in the surrounding Asian countries. (E.g. China would stock of Vietnamese or Korean foods)
Great salmon sale today and tomorrow. Came out very satisfied. The cashier was very pleasant.
They have everything you can think of, the only thing Id change is the freshness of some products
Good prices, large array of east asian products and household supplies, limited selection of dairy products
Big store, maybe a little more clean. But other than that. Great price and looking for seafood is the place to go and good veggies
Super 88 more like super 100, this store has it all
Good almost anything u will get. But u will hardly get a help, I means who can help out with English, the employee dont understand english...so u need get ur stuff...by ur self....that takes pretty more time..
One of the best place to go for seafood cooking. The variety of seafood and fresh fish they provide customers with is excellent. And not to mention the spices. Fantastic choices for customers.
It may not be the most welcoming or organized of places, but thats almost comforting in a way with Asian supermarkets. Has lots of specialty products difficult to find elsewhere. Handling COVID precautions well.
Great Chinese supermarket. I Like this place for variety of fresh fruits and vegetables collection. Sea food section is very good. Different types fishes are available there. I love salmon, pompano, basa swai, shrimp, butter fish, red snapper, mangoes, grape fruit, guava, clementines, strawberry, banana, spinach, eggplant, carrots, onion, potato, tomato, lettuce, cilantro, cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato, and tons of varieties. All in Reasonable price. I often go there for monthly grocery shopping.
My girlfriend and I come here for the vegetables! They come in good portion. Great selection of meat as well.
Its good, I prefer kamman
Recently renovated and looks really nice! Great place for Asian groceries. I always come here for hot pot ingredients! Just wished theyd stock sweet potato snack more often
Good to get foods that are from many different parts of the world.
They dont sell only Chinese foods. I find for my taste too
Good one
The people however working there are warm, friendly and helpful. The produce selection is awesome!
Bought bad meat few times.
Cleaner than before
Amazing market, they have a huge variety of fruits and vegetables for really good prizes. As well as super healthy choices, many type of Rice, spices, meat& poultry, fish (fresh & frozen), atractive candy...Overall an interesting market to visit.
Theyre pretty much selling international food. I like it.
I love the variety of things they have but specially the seafood
Good to get live seafood.customer service is 0 star.
Great products and fast checkout.
This is your place for fresh fish and all again style groceries.fruits always fresh.but sometimes too many fruit flys around..alwats can get my kids pokey
Live Tilapia is awesome 👌
Prices on everything is higher than in Chinatown. Chinatown is only 20 minutes away by public transportation. Another thing is that the fish section is not very well cleansed. The meat and poultry area is suspect. The smell is a clear indication that something isnt right.
Always find what I need. Just wish some things were as fresh as others
Was good
Price is ok. Lots of variety in vegetables. You got to be curious and try different stuff.
Really great selection here at Super 88 and very close to J Malden Center too!
A fabulous Asian market! Super 88 had everything we needed and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are a variety of brands and products ranging from cookware to fresh produce to baked goods, we left satisfied customers!
Cheapest produce in town. Smells like a dirty fish tank though.
Well stocked with a variety of produce, meat, and Asian snacks and tea. This location is more spacious than the Allston one.
I always come to super 88 to buy almost everything that i need! On this trip i needed help and did not get it! i ask a lady who can help me and pointed out one spanish guy who is busy filing up tomatoes if he can help me get a jackfruit and to my surprise he seems doesnt want to be bothered and he said the the cutter is busy not even make an effort! Peace of advice if you want your store to success hired people that help not push away people.
Great greens and vegies. My go to place for hard to find Asian candy. Specially these guava hard candies. Too bad its far from me. I can only get them when I go to Malden. Im sure there are closer places near where I live but Im too lazy to look for it. Staff is always pleasant and happy to help even though most of them cant understand a word I say, but with the help of Google translate I can always find help.
Customer service is not the best service.
Wide range of selections for fresh and prepared food/goods. Friendly staff. Good price. I think the indoor temperature is slightly lower than other store on average, if it’s a concern for you during the shopping.
Nice
Dont go here they sold us rotten fish, wasted $40.00.
Very slow checkout experience with a single file 70 person deep line to get to the registers
Large Asian-themed supermarket. Substantial produce section. Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai products & ingredients well represented. Japanese, Korean, Philippino, Indonesian products less so, although there might be Chinese-made substitutes. 88 chain has long had the most accessible Asian markets in the Boston area. This one currently the largest
Recently remodeled inside. Lots of great, fresh ingredients as well as yummy goodies.
Wide spread of all the Asian food items. Clean and quick service. Packaging and aisle are very well stacked and presented. Most importantly quality of product is good.
Pretty good experience but if buying produce get there Thursday. If not you may get less than edible fruits and veggies. The variety of spices was impressive as was the various types of noodles. I was able to find all that I would ever need to prepare any Asian dish I desire. Overall, Id give the store a B+.
From the outside Super 88 is very deceiving. Once youve had a chance to wander around, you are in awe. The store is huge. A great store that carries mostly Japanese and Chinese specialties. I will be happy to recommend going there.
This is not your common grocery store; this is where you go to buy durian or duck eggs. They have a wide variety of Asian foods, ice cream, candy, cookware, etc. But you might want to hold your breath in the seafood section. Also, keep an eye on expiration dates; I picked up a dusty can of baby corn and it was only a couple of months away from its expiration (and those things have a long shelf life).
Lot to choose from.
EXPIRED FOODMy boyfriend and I went grocery shopping on 12/22/17, the seasoning was on sale, so we bought two different kinds of seasoning. I checked another one which would expire in January 2018, I thought this one would have similar date so we just checked out without checking date carefully. On 1/8/2018, my boyfriend made hot pot with this expired seasoning and ended up being sick. So he checked the package. The front of the package shows it was produced on 11/8/2016. On the back, it says this seasoning expire after one year of production date, which will be 11/7/2017. It has been expired for about 45 days when we bought it.The fact that the market sells expired food really piss me off. And we usually don’t check production date before checking out. We won’t realize this seasoning is expired if my boyfriend didn’t get sick. I’m not saying you should not go to this market, but you really have to be careful, and always check the dates.
Good deals on Asian-style meats and vegetables. Selection is not as good as some other Asian supermarkets. The produce is not as fresh, but reasonably priced and fresh enough to cook for the same day.
Much improved over what it was ten years ago when it smelled like a Chinatown alley and was almost as dirty.. Ill even occasionally but meat there now. Mainly useful for spices, sauces, oils and other basics for Asian cooking. Some have reported vegetables and fruits not fresh, but I havent had any problem. But dont treat it like a regular supermarket where you can just assume everything is fine. Youve got to pick stuff over. Same goes for the fish. If you know how to buy fish you should be ok.Seems to cater to a variety of immigrant, not just Asians, which is a plus as far as variety is concerned. They also carry cheap but practical Asian housewares. Its a good place to pick up a bamboo steamer or a teapot, or some basic pots and pans for a student apartment. Not the best Asian supermarket in Boston, but serviceable and easily the best overal choice in the immediate area if you want to cook Asian. I seldom make the drive over to Burlington because my neighborhood Asian market is usually good enough.
Very cheap prices for the area!I love coming here to shop with a friend. It is fun picking out different things and cooking them. They also have tofu at good prices.
Good source for Chinese (and some other Asian) ingredients. Also has a large Caribbean clientele
My favorite Chinese/Asian super market. Lots of parking. Fast check-out. Varieties of Asian veggies, and snacks. Very conveniently located near Malden center.
Plenty of parking, store is not too packed, have a lot of variety
Well the place is not well kept and it seems not the most cleaness place to buy groceries and the cashiers are very cold.
Pretty empty despite other grocery stores being slammed. Would come back since there werent long lines.
Always has what I want and plenty of it actually I love the store
Favorite Asian supermarket. Huge with good products. Just minimum staff.
This is a very international place with good food products and everything is very fresh . Good Asian spices and other products.
Not as pretty as H Mart, but a truly huge variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean prepared foods. We get frozen scallion pancakes and specialty oils etc. here. And theres a large variety of Asian produce. And unusual meats such as chicken hearts.
WIIIIIIIIIIIIDE selection of food. 10/10 for asian groceries
This Asian supermarket isnt as good as the ones Im used to in Queens, NY. Nonetheless it has all the basics (and then some). It caters to multiple ethnicities with products to make Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Spanish food. I come here whenever I need things to make Asian food. And great prices too.
Love this Store large variety of everything I.e. fresh Seaford, assorted Meats, Vegatables and Fruits
I really love coming here to shop for any Asian foods or grocery. The place isnt as packed and lucky for me, it is also close by. If you are driving, you will find yourself great amount of parking space.
Convenient location near the t stop. Decent sized supermarket with a large selection of produce. I usually go here to find vegetables/spices/fruit that I cant find in the stop n shop down the street.
Just good asian items. Not Super good. But for the price, acceptable.
Good Asian grocer. Produce could be a tad better but for location, cant complain.
Good selection of Asian food some hard to find items. I particuly was impressed with the extent and prices of the spices. I will shop her again
The wife loves the fresh seafood and produce. Many more specialty Asian items as well. Worth the trip.
Hard to navigate and no luck in getting help; has a large selection of noodles and everything from China and a few other Asian items.I was looking to make drunken noodles/kee mao; however could not find exactly what was needed.
Convenient location if you live in the area. You dont have to travel all the way to Chinatown for your Asian needs. Unfortunately, everything is overpriced, but I guess thats what you have to pay for convenience.Plenty of parking outside, so there is no need to drive around looking for a spot.
Great produce. You can find alot of good stuff here
You get ever there check it out.
I do not quite enjoy the shopping environment here. But its a convenient place for getting Chinese food and products. So I visit it regularly.
I think the place changed owner, but overall a good Asian supermarket. Quality is not as fresh and good as ones in Chinatown, but super convenient for people living north of Boston, and it has a parking lot. Can get crowded on weekend but more spacious than other ones in Boston so cant complain.
