While traveling hours from home for medical visits we had a tire that began loosing pressure. We called several tire places and no one was able to get us in the same day and we had to get back home.Although the location was very busy, Barry told us to come on in and they would work us in. The employees were all so nice and helpful. They had us all taken care of while we walked next door to have lunch even after having to run to another location to get a tire to match the large size on the vehicle. They truly saved us from being stranded.

Everyone here is very friendly and they are very honest about whats going on. They tell you what you need and tell you if something is wrong. Theres no secrets when you go to Car-X Tire & Auto. They are very reliable and quick on service.

My car started making terrible noises and struggling to drive on my way to take my daughter to the zoo. I called and spoke with Zach, and he said he could get me right in to take a look at the problem. Zach and Barry were able to identify the problem, and check on possible recalls and write me up a quote. I was so impressed with their customer service and eagerness to help when other places I called wouldn’t even have been able to look at my car until Monday. They even offered to turn on cartoons for my toddler while we waited.

I have been going to this Car X for a few years now. What I like most is that they give you the estimate up front, before any work is done. You’re not hit with sudden fees, and if they do notice something else is wrong, they’ll let you know before hand & let you make the decision. No high pitched sales. I wish other mechanics would follow their lead!! Very nice and courteous staff as well. I’ve had to take my car in at the last minute, and 95% of the time they were willing to squeeze me in. Yes, I did have to wait, but it beats not having the use of my car for a day or two. Highly recommended 👍👍

Please dont go to the Maryland heights office because they will sabotage your car break something or take something apart saying that it needs to be fixed so they can fix it when you only there to get emission and inspection test they took parts or they loosen Parts on my car and told me that it will be doing something that it never was doing until I left there placed everything the man said my car would do it did and it never was doing that so please do not go to the Maryland Heights office to get anything fixed because theyre only there to make something broken to make money off for you Ive only reported them to the Better Business Bureau so you guys please please do not go to Car-X to get your car fixed emissions test because you would end up spending more money than you thought you was going to spend all because they want to make money and break and sabotage peoples cars to get the money so my reviews on this company is bad on a scale of zero to 10 I give it a zero once again do not go to Maryland Heights Car-X to get your car fixed theyre sabotaging peoples cars

If I could give NEGATIVE stars I definitely would!!! In the last 5 weeks we have taken our car up to carx MULTIPLE TIMES to have the same problem fixed! Ends up they put a faulty part on the car so now more issues are happening because like they said it needs to be fixed immediately and we can’t drive it like that yet they “fixed” it with a faulty part. Now they are refusing to fix the car saying we will need to pay for THEIR mistake!! We get the run around every conversation someone says something different about the car! I’ve literally never seen such insane incompetence by a mechanics shop! If you need auto repairs PLEASE do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!! A backyard mechanic is far more capable than this carx store is!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They talk to us like we’re idiots!! Just because we want it taken care of properly!

I dont know if I want to trust car-x anymore. To change my rear disk brake rotors and pads they asked for $900.00. For the same job Meineke changed me only $310.00. Meineke is great they didnt charge me all the extra fees that car-x were going to change me.

Lost pressure for months after new tires put on there. Bad seals. Not “the temperature.” I gave up after stopping in multiple times to have them checked and filling at least 20x on my own. Just refilled and sent on my my way. Too busy to investigate.

We took our car in for in inspection and it failed due to a steering rack leak. They “fixed” it for a very large amount and in the process messed up the suspension on our vehicle which we realized after driving it back home. When we called they did not take any responsibility and told us to take it the the dealer. We will not be using the place again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Needed a total exhaust repair. Quoted me and had my appointment set in the next 2 days. When I got in they gave me a 75 dollar discount and did fantastic work. Being out of town I need this done quickly and they did it quickly and at very good quality and they did fantastic work.

Wow! Tim was fantastic in working with me. I’d had “one of those mornings” and called to ask if they could change my appointment time. The only other opening wasn’t going to work for me but Tim said if I could get there, even 30 minutes late, he could still help me. This carx location was very good. Offered repairs on my exhaust at a reasonable price. Even brought me out after the repairs were done to show me what had been done. Very professional and the tech did very very good work. He even had to delete a rusted out flange and had to weld it all together. They looked like nice machine welds. Id give 10 stars if I could. Managed to get my cars window regulator and motor replaced on a Saturday. Thought it was a bit pricy at 550. They left grease fingerprint stains on my window but hey they fixed it so a solid 4 stars.

I came in today to get a headlight replaced, that I thought had went out. I originally went to Auto-zone who wouldnt help switch the bulb because the battery needed to be removed in order to replace bulb.I was helped by Tim who was very courteous. After inspection, it turned out that the bulb was fine and just needed tightened. They graciously charged me nothing and had me on my way in no time.

Excellent Service, Great Staff. I brought my car in for exhaust work. They had it on the rack in no time. The technician (Tom) looked over the the exhaust and found the issues. I asked if I could see the issue and without hesitation they took me out to the car and pointed out the problems. Parts were ordered and installed. After the installation Tom pointed out the replacement parts. The welds and installation looked professional. You get the feeling that he stands behind his workmanship. Great Car-X Auto Center. I went there yesterday June 27 because one of my tires had a leek in it but it was old so I was going to just replace it. While I was there I wanted an oil change and tire rotation. Some how it was lost in translation that one of the tire was going flat so they replaced the wrong tire and didnt even rotate the tires either because on my way to work with my son in the car the low tire pressure light comes on! Guess what it was the same tire that was giving me issues! So they didnt rotate them or didnt replace the proper tire! So I air it up at work send my husband and child on their way. On the way home from down town where I work my husband had to pull off 5 times to air up the tire! So I took it back today and they put the tire on the proper one and rotated them like they were suppose yesterday. I received only an apology not anything else for my time or my families life being put into jeopardy! I will never go back here. I got a phone call from Brian the district manager and he made me feel much better! He insured me that they were going to fix the problem at the source! He also seemed very sincere about what had happened and understood what danger my family was put in. Thank you for caring and making things right!

It visited Car-X for safety and emissions test. It took a standard hour or so to complete it and the mechanic suggested that my front brakes and battery need to be changed. They were able to complete the brakes and battery change quickly and offered me a good price point. I am happy with the services offered and would recommend it !!!

I cant say enough good things about this Car-X location. For the record, I hate chain car shops, and Ive been going to the same local mechanic all my life. But I recently moved to St. Louis, so I needed something quickly when my car needed repairs a few months ago. My alternator gave out and every other mechanic that I called wouldnt be able to order the parts quickly, or fix it in a decent amount of time. I dropped it off at Car-x and it was ready the next DAY! I was so impressed by the turn around time, and they were very upfront and clear with me the whole time- as a woman, I feel like mechanics try to upsell constantly, but that wasnt the case here.Theyve also checked out my ailing 2003 Volvo whenever I heard a noise, or felt a bump. They are very thorough. They never pressure you or make you buy anything you cant afford, and Ive purchased partial services from them before with the gentle reminder that I should get the rest checked out promptly.Matt and Mike in particular are great guys to deal with, they were never annoyed by my incessant questions and always got back to me promptly. Im scrapping my car soon, but Ill definitely be bringing my new car to this location. Theyre a fantastic business, trust me.

Carx got me out of a bad sticky situation. My window wouldnt roll up. And I didnt have the money to fix it right then. So we worked out a deal and the tech was able to get the window back up for minimal cost. Now I wont be driving down the road getting all wet!!

They were able to repair the muffler on a 14-year old Dodge Grand Caravan with handicap adaptations. Great job, prompt service, will definitely go there again.

This was my first trip to CAR-X. I had a screw in my tire and needed someone to take a look at it. I called and they said to come on in and they would take a look at it. Turned out to be a very small screw and did no damage. There was no charge for the inspection and screw removal. I was very thankful for the time that the CAR-X team took for such a small repair.

Very professional and speedy crew. Good prices. Lifetime warranty program is awesome. Have not seen any other shop including dealer that offers a lifetime warranty on parts with a labor warranty. Awesome carx

Update 2: It pains me to make this update, after the redemption story below, but the shop has fallen back into being cheats in the absence of Don or Tim. Went in for a simple alignment check, and 2 things happened. First, they tried to get me to sign consent to an alignment charge before doing the free check. When I caught this, the tech pulled the vehicle into the bay and claimed a whole host of things were wrong with my front end - ball joints, pitman arm, etc. and refused to check the alignment. The bay used did not even have the required equipment to test these components. As per my suspicion, my 2 trusted mechanics inspected the vehicle later and found no faults with the suspension or steering - much of which is recently replaced. Shame, but they no longer seem to be held to a level of honesty.Update: Don made the effort to reach out to me personally and invited me in to have a discussion on what went wrong. I definitely have an immense appreciation for a business that is willing to have these difficult conversations, and re-examine their work accordingly. The willingness to be transparent and genuine about the miscommunication that occurred is what will probably bring me (and my cars) back in the future.Like many chain service shops, they are thoroughly prepared to defraud you, here. Took in my already-inspected vehicle to test their free service, and they tried to convince me that multiple suspension, steering, and wheel components needed replacement - adding up to over $1000 (of which $400 was just their warranty)! To give them the benefit of the doubt, those components were reinspected by myself and two highly reputable independent mechanics afterward - they concurred nothing was wrong with them. All of this, presented with a smile by a polite team.

I took my car in today and because the repair would take 2 hours to complete two mechanics worked to get it done so I wouldnt have to stay and wait so long. Tim was extremely helpful going over all that needed to be done .

I have been going to the Dorsett location for several years now and they were always great until the last two times. This last time was the final visit I will make there. In the past they were always honest and forthcoming about work that was needed or not on my car. I was a loyal customer because they didnt spend their time trying to get me to spend $$$ that wasnt necessary. This time they really tried to make up for past misses. Wow, Told me I needed about $1,000.00 worth of work done to my car to get it to pass inspection. I was puzzled because it had not been giving me any problems and there was no sign of problems when I took it in 3 months before for oil change. I know things can go bad within that time but I left went to another garage that was highly recommended for honesty. Didnt say a word about the failed inspection, note it wasnt the emissions that failed. This guy passed it. I then brought up the failed inspection. His comment there are all kinds in this business. Just want to warn everyone. New employees at this place and they are not doing the business well. They should have kept Steve and the other mechanics.

Two weeks ago, my tire got a nail puncture. They were able to patch it. And as my day went from bad to worse, my debit card deactivated. They waived the fee and I’m truly grateful. I have been bringing all my cars here for years. The service from all the staff is unbeatable. Visiting the team has become a highlight of my week. I do A LOT of driving and have maintenance performed regularly. When a list of items for maintenance or repair comes up (on my 150000 mile vehicle) the guys always break it down, prioirtize and ensure I understand what is needed and why! They are willing to physically show me parts that require maintenance or repair. Barry, Tim, and Don are the absolute best!These guys are located close enough to work that I can drop off and walk back to work whe they do there thing. My workplace will be relocating soon too far away to walk back. I have already requested that the guys pack up and move next door to our new location... the guys here have already mentioned that maybe someone can just shuttle me back to work!Cannot imagine taking my car anywhere else!

Was helped by Don at the front counter, one of the most polite and informative individuals I’ve dealt with at a car shop. Just happened to come in during a special that saved me $15. I waited for my oil change and the workers made me feel more than comfortable, with refreshments offered and the tv turned on. I’ve always been used to waiting but they made this visit easy. Will definitely be making this my home store.

They have big poster of free check engine light code check offer in front. When I asked them for that they provided me estimate of around 70 bucks, when asked details they told it includes mechanic charges. When I told I only need codes in free as per the offer which hardly take 2 minutes, they told me to wait for 2 hours. Actually they were not willing to provide that. I quickly left and checked it in free at other auto shop with a good smile.

My muffler broke on a speed pump I called they were able to see me right away and it only took 54 minutes and I was on my way with a very quiet car safe to drive. They are awsome,efficient and very professional.

Was traveling for Edward Jones in St Louis and got a screw in my tire on my way back to Chicago- called a few places on the google list and was told I was out of luck because they were too busy- called Tim at Car X and told him i was stranded....He and his team helped me out straight away so I could get back to my family after a week of travel. They didn’t have to, but went the extra mile to help a stranger in need! Car X is a new friend of mine!

I honestly think this post made by Jason is very irrelevant based on the fact that this particular technician at this location has performed many repairs on mine and my familys vehicles and I or them have never had any problems with them. This seems to be somewhat of a personal matter that should not be posted on a google review. And naming a particular someone in a google review. Just low. Especially after you received a 250 store credit which you probably used. And trying to sway people away from this tech and this location. This is a great and honest shop. And Id trust any of the techs at this location to work on any and everything. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Keep up the great work and customer service Maryland heights carx. 😀👍.

The guys here are super awesome

They replaced my fuel pump back in February, and now when the gas tank goes below half, the car begins stalling. I declined their overpriced “lifetime” warranty on the fuel pump because it’s an old car and I don’t plan on keeping it for that long. I never anticipated needing a warranty on a part immediately after service.I shop around for estimates and have noticed CarX always recommends work that is unnecessary, and they are more expensive than any other shop in town.

Good staff. Guys are always really nice. Customer service is a priority. Treat their customers fairly and willingly goes the extra mile to make sure you know you are a valued customer.

I had such a great experience here, they took me to work and picked me up. Don was amazing and even remembered my name when I came back. They did offer me other services but we’re not pushy at all.

I needed a new battery before work and they got me in immediately and changed the battery in 15 minutes that the auto parts store said would take an hour because of difficulty. Excellent service!

I used to go elsewhere for my car maintenance until I came to Car-X with a coupon. I was impressed with the service, so next time I came back, and the time after. Each time I have been there they have been friendly and helpful. The prices seem reasonable and they have never tried to invent a problem to get extra money out of me. I had an unexpected repair today and they talked to the warranty company numerous times to work out the details so I could get my stuff fixed. They even gave me a ride back to work when it became obvious the repairs would take longer than expected.Bottom line is I think this business has great service and I will continue to come here for my car maintenance. My partner took my car in and was told he was the one to be talked to about any and all services. They called me and lead me to believe that they had talked with my partner and got me to agree to $700+ in repairs. When my partner got there they had “taken” apart to the point they couldn’t just put it back together and let him take it. After arguing with them they dropped the repair cost down to $400+. Very disappointing

AVOID. Took for a MO State Inspection and they found 2 issues that had estimate of $500. Went for a 2nd opinion with my IL repair connection and they were completely puzzled as to what CAR-x was talking about. Brought to mechanic on Dorsett/McKelvey and low and behold it passed. Wow.
