There doesn’t appear to be a lot of communication during the process. I had a car shipped from California to Idaho. The website gives updates. When the car arrived I got a notification. Then the website indicated that there was a delay. I did not get any information on why there was a delay. After I called them I was just told that they were getting the car ready. A week and a half past. I finally learned that the title was lost and they were trying to track it down. I continually called the business office. They were always “short staffed” and to “busy” to give me updates and check in with me. I was told 2-3 times that they would call me back the same day and I wouldn’t hear anything else back. They finally found the title. We went in to test drive the car. I wanted to sale my car to them and submitted all the information beforehand. It took 4 hours to test drive the car and for them to look at the car that we were going to sale them. No transactions were done that day. We came back after a holiday weekend to make the transaction and it still took them another 3 hours when we had 80% of the paperwork done beforehand and a cashiers check in hand because we were going through outside financing.I got the car that I wanted but the time that I wasted in that facility when I had everything ready for them was RIDICULOUS. They really need to work on their systems and being more organized. They have plenty of staff if they were more efficient with processes.

Great offer! Clean, knowledgeable, helpful, nice and pleasant workers. Only reason I didnt give 5 star is because I wasnt prepared for how long it would take. Took about 2 hours to do the deal. Thats fine but would have like to have known. Very impressed with the young man, Jakob, that helped me. 👏

The representative I worked with was great, the problem was that my car was dented at the dealership. The dent was not reported on the listing on CarMaxs website. Because of the shape of the hood I did not notice it until a few days later. By that time it had cut the paint.Edit: CarMax totally came through and fixed my paint at no charge. It was painless getting done and I am very happy with their work. Great to see a dealership willing to make it right for the customer.

I had a great experience from getting a car with these guys! No pressure at all and the whole process was so smooth! Everyone was very nice as well! Interest rates are a little high so definitely encourage you to get a loan from your bank if you can. Would definitely purchase again from these guys!

From beginning to end everyone of the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The first person to talk to us came by and was asking near the end what we had decided. We are surprised how many of our family and friends have used CarMax, but didnt tell us. We will definitely make use of them again (if we live long enough!).

These are the most amazing people ever they even spoiled my boys and got them snack from the vending machine, sung songs to them and got them coloring books! Plus now I have a car I absolutely love!! Everyone was incredibly friendly! I was able to get more than they quoted me for online which was an awesome bonus! They had a system issue which delayed the whole process but Matt was so nice about it and was the salesman that helped me when I had to come back! Matt W at the Meridian, ID CarMax is EXCELLENT and if I ever use CarMax again, I hope hes the one to help me! Friendly, patient, helpful, and all around a nice guy!

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I sold my lease to this company and they did not do the correct research on what the dealership lease buyout option was they just went off of what my customer buyout (their mistake they are an experience car dealership and they said know that they are different) called me after the transaction had already been finalized for a month later and say that I owe them more because they didn’t get the correct pay off amount. Lease company agrees with me that it’s carmaxs responsibility and closed my account and transferred the balance to carmax but it was a huge hassle. Just be warned no one there is competent enough to do their job correctly. Also should add the I made an appointment with them and then waited in the lobby for 2 hours until my process was even started.

Shopping for a new car classically has been a headache. However, I didn’t experience any of the stressors that typically accompany car buying at CarMax. The staff was very accommodating with test drives, explaining the process of car transfers from other states, and the loan process. What made it even better, was the lack of sales commission. The staff was there to help, not make a sale! This made my process more like my time mattered over theirs. I appreciated the lack of hassle and pressure. Their loan process was just as good as my private banks loan too. The trade they gave me for my old car was fair and the purchase of the new car was smooth. Keep in mind that scheduling your appointments (appraisal, test drives) would benefit you. I would definitely use CarMax again.

I sold a vehicle, bought a newer vehicle that was shipped in from across the country, looked at selling a third vehicle and now contemplating buying yet another.through the entire process, they have been knowledgeable, helpful, and above all NOT PUSHY!Very happy with my experience.

The staff here is awesome and friendly. I got an online quote that was over a grand more than anyone offered trying to sell my truck private party. When I showed up for the appointment the process went incredibly smooth and I was out the door in less than an hour with a check.

Fantastic experience. I was not expecting that they could fit me in since I didn’t have an appointment. I was in the area for 1 day (I live 4 hours away) and my vehicle had been conveniently delivered the day I was there. I walked in and asked if it was possible and from the start they tried to make it work. I had a little bit of a wait, but it doesn’t matter because they were willing to get me taken care of. The younger guy at the front desk (I didn’t catch his name) was very kind and genuine towards me. Noah was my salesman. He was kind and helped me through the loan process and get everything together to make it happen. The finance/sales manager was also very kind and helpful. And finally, Rebecca that cleaned my vehicle up quickly to get me on the road as I had somewhere to be. I wasn’t a number, but a customer. The vehicle is pretty great too! 10/10 would recommend this dealership to anyone.

Super easy process to sell my car! Completed online appraisal, made appointment to confirm appraisal and sell vehicle. Appointment started on time, accepted appraisal, signed paperwork and walked out with a check. All CarMax personnel were extremely polite and professional. Couldnt have been a better experience!

Have purchased 4 vehicles from here. The first 3 experiences were great. However the most recent purchase has been a total nightmare. Needless to say it seems they are more focused on making money than retaining customers. The car they sold us has had so many things go wrong with it, I highly doubt they even checked anything out on it before they put it on the lot to sell. Would not recommend anymore.

When we originally came in, we were told to make an appointment. We made an appointment for the next week for 1130. It was 1215 when my husband asked if about our appointment and 1220 before we were seen. We had our car appraised. They put smells like smoke on the appraisal. No one has ever smoked in our car, ever. The sales men who appraised the car agreed it did not smell like smoke and said one of the buyers put that. When we inquired about getting it removed they said it wouldnt affect the trade in value. That seems wrong to me. The appraisal was way less than market value and ended up being a waist of time.

Went in to sell my car. Had an offer from online. It was smooth and easy. No pressure given to buy since all I wanted was to sell. The appraisal offer online and the offer in store remained the same. It took a little over an hour, but went fast. Sam helped me and was amazing, great employee if you get to deal with him.

I wish I could say my experience was better but it unfortunately wasnt.. Buying a car can already be a stressful thing so having poor service certainly doesnt help. To be quite honest the main reason I even gave a 2 star verses less is because the sales associate from one of their call centers was extremely friendly and helpful. In store was a much different experience. I work in sales so I understand the industry. I was not impressed with the lack of customer service that was offered in the store.Having to make multiple appointments each time you come in and not being able to get in days on end was a joke.. Which I get times are weird right now. But the thing that myself and my husband found to be the most frustrating was when we did make an apt they were ALWAYS running 45min to an hour behind.. Plus they didnt even have my car ready even after I waited an hour. My husband and I both had cars shipped in and then made the apt to see them once they got here. Per the text updates I was receiving prior to my apt they were getting it ready and cleaned for me to see it. On the apt day, after waiting 45min with no updates I finally asked how much longer, they said they had to move other cars out of the way to even get the car I had shipped in.. Then when they did have it they hadnt washed it or vacuumed it. I was not impressed. Unfortunately they lost mine and my husbands business due to the lack of professionalism we experienced in the store. I hope CarMax starts to hire people who actually want to work hard and actually want to make their customers feel like they are a priority verses acting like they are an annoyance. A customers time should be valued much more.

She was very thorough and personable, made the process of appraisal and purchase seamless. Highly recommend CarMax in general but this location in particular, never had a bad time here and I’ve purchased 2 cars from them by now.

I sold my car to Carmax 6 weeks ago. They were supposed to pay off the loan on my vehicle, which they have still failed to do. I have called them and they said they mailed a check to pay it off. When I asked for a date and check number they didn’t have any records of that information. Now I have a late car payment affecting my credit because they haven’t paid the loan. Whenever I call the blame the financing company but can’t give me any details. Do NOT do business with this company.

It was really a great experience. They appraised my car, then gave me an offer. I thought about it for a day. I came back a day later with the necessary documents and I sold it to them. The offer was significantly higher than other dealerships I visited. We sat down at a desk and in 30 minutes they cut me a check. It was quick and painless. They were very kind to me. Highly recommended!

So amazing. We had to get rid of our car within a weeks time because we were moving out of state and found out from the mechanic that our car wasnt capable of getting us to our destination. We thought we could only sell our car for $200, and we never sold a car before, so the idea of selling it privately seemed daunting. So glad we thought of selling our car through CarMax. They did everything for us. Super easy. Super fast. Crazy good customer service. And bought our car for $1,200!!!

Worst attempt at car buying I’ve ever had. They text me to let me know 4 minutes before they closed that my transfer vehicle was in. They let me know that 6pm is the latest appointment time they have. I text back “ok. 6pm tomorrow it is”. I call the next day to confirm my test drive and appraisal. The person I’m speaking with say’s “I got ya in for 7 pm”. I said “No, I had a 6pm appointment, just need the appraisal added”. He assures me I’m good to go for 6 PM. Fast forward to 6 pm. I get the receptionist person and he lets me know my appointment was at 5 PM. I let him know I have a text that says 6. 640 rolls around and no one has said anything to me. I left. I’m a disabled veteran. It is hard for me to even get in there. To just be blown off like that is disgraceful. I will never use carmax again. The kicker to all this is that I had already been approved to purchase the vehicle I was test driving, I just wanted to check a couple things out on it before buying it.

I am a used auto dealer in Idaho. I found a 2016 Lexus RX350 in Arizona. I paid $499.00 to have it shipped to Idaho. I called CarMax 4 times and explained to them I was a auto Dealer and I wanted to Wholesale the car to my dealership and we agreeded on a total cost. (the price of the car and the doc fee). When I got the CarMax in Idaho Two times the sales people Lied to me of what is the law. I test drove the car for 24 hours and decided to buy the car. The salesman had no clue what a wholesale order was and had to call the business Mgr. She came out and I explained I had called 4 times and discussed the wholesale request and I had a cost agreed on. She then comes back and says CarMax doesnt Wholesale to dealers I told her of my 4 phone calls and it make no difference. Once again another lie to me. Ill never even think of doing any business with CarMax again. Buyers beware of the lies.

I have answered one survey already. The transaction would have been easier had we had A (one) person to connect with versus several. The final person we dealt with seemed a little perturbed with us. We couldn’t understand why some signatures were physical and some were electronic. We asked for a rip in a seat to be stitched, it appears to be burned (actually looks worse than what it did). We asked about loose trim strips around the windshield and were told that’s the way they are supposed to be. We have been looking at other odyssey’s since and that does not appear to be true. We have a question about the title. The previous survey I answered asked if I would like a call back and I said “yes”. I have not gotten any call.I just read another review about the cleanliness of the vehicle. We were surprised about that too! It was supposedly cleaned but there were several areas that were excessively dirty. They cleaned it again & still didn’t do a very good job. They cleaned it one more time before we left & it was better (not totally-but better). The wheels were dirty too. There was just not much attention to detail on the cleanliness.

They make everything very simple. The only thing you must be wary of is that the cost of their cars is priced (on average) a couple thousand dollars above the kbb value. It was certainly worth it for me because of the transaction convenience and the car I purchased was a difficult one to come by, especially in the great condition it was in. I took it to my Ford dealership (since the make was a Ford) to do a thorough inspection as well. The inspection results came back perfect which makes me more trusting of CarMax as well. I was recommended to use CarMax by a friend, and I would certainly recommend them to a friend/family member too.

We found a great car at a great price. The transaction was quick and smooth. As part of the deal, our salesman agreed to repair a glass chip in the windshield before it could spread, but he never would put it in writing. Ultimately they flaked out on fixing the glass. Still got a good deal, but dont expect any special treatment.

Experience was better than advertised. Found my car, out of state, asked questions about it. Delivered it to my local CarMax. No swarming or pressure.Charles was my first contact via phone to help me. He helped me get all the answers about the vehicle and even brought up some questions Id have missed. He got the vehicle shipped. Awesome support.3 days later Went in to test drive the car and loved it. Abigail, our sales rep, was fantastic, and the only person we met, NO pressure. Ordered a car from Modesto to come to Idaho. It sorta got lost until one day,9 days later, I got a call saying it was in. Got an appointment and they said they would bring it around. It was a different color than the ad and the pictures showed. Good thing is, my wife liked the color of the car, so we offered to buy it after a test drive, if the 199.00 transfer fee was refunded, which they did. Because of that and the ease of buying from them, I gave 2 stars.The car was dirty outside, wheels still had visible grease on them.So during Covid, they tout a long rigorous cleaning process inside the car.There is a big sign claiming this on the wall in the showroom. Well, the inside looked like it got wiped down in 2 minutes with a dry cloth. There were smudges on the jockey box, driver side door, steering wheel and completely dirty on the foot rest on driver side floor. The car also hada smoke smell to it.The other thing is, their website didnt load half the time when I wouldhit links in email trying to find out where the car was during transit.

It started off well. Found a vehicle I was looking for and went in and test drove it. Was told that they would put a 7 day hold on the vehicle which was a nice thought. I went back 3 days later only to find out that somehow the vehicle was taken off hold and that someone in another state wanted the vehicle transfered to that state. I had a purchase agreement so I could get funding, even with that it was still a lengthy conversation and process before they finally where able to get the vehicle off the other hold and I was able to purchase it. To say the least I was very disappointed with the fact that the 7 day hold did not mean much. I was even told that their system is flawed. Apparently the system and or a manager can go into it and take a vehicle off hold with no problem. On a good note, while still a pain. The battery died 2 days after I bought the vehicle. I had to take it down have it tested buy a new battery. Now with that said CarMax does have a 90 day 4000 mile warranty that covers any issues. I took the receipt back to the store and they did reimburse me for the full price of the battery. Just another inconvenience. I will say that so far I am happy with the vehicle I purchased, but was extremely disappointed in how the process went into getting it.

They have cars, but they have nobody to sell them and they cant keep appointment times so we left for somewhere else. The ammount of dealerships in the area you would think they would want more business but that was not the case. Waited over an hour just to be told it might be wise to come back another time even though it was our appointment time. I will gladly take my business and money to another dealer, and I really do hope you have a better outcome than I had. If not Peterson is down the road and will tend to your needs.

Showed up without an Appointment and was told that it would be about an hour before someone would be with me. I sat there and waited for over an hour and 45 minutes. Went to reception and was told they would only be able to get to me if someone didnt show up to their appointment and that it would be about 3 hours. Very unprofessional and I will not be going back. I understand I didnt have an Appointment but but wasted my time by not telling me the wait would be a lot longer than an hour and that I wouldnt be helped unless someone missed their appointment.

The service and no haggle part are great. Be prepared to wait a loooooonnnnngggg time to even look at a car though. The CarMax process is no longer geared toward the customer in the shopping experience. Shopping with CarMax is an online waiting game where you have to go through some frustration to figure out the rules.

We made an appointment. Drove 2 hours to the nearest Carmax only to find out that the car was inoperable. No sorry for wasting your time no, no nothing. Salesman acted like..oh well. So we looked around found another car, test drove that. When asked for details about the car salesman once again...i dont know anything about these cars so i dont know...so we did the research. We looked up answers to our questions. We sold us the car not the salesman.Bottom line, if it wasnt for the low mileage and low price we would have walked. Will not deal with them again.

I visited Carmax and had a good experience test driving a vehicle and discussing finance options with a salesman. As we were inputting my information and looking at final costs, the salesman left to ask a question to a superior, then returned and informed me that someone had placed a hold on the vehicle I had test driven. I asked what that meant and he told me someone had gone online and put a hold to either test drive or potentially buy the vehicle. He then said they couldnt do anything and said they would call me if anything changed. I couldnt believe they would turn down an in-person customer for a potential one online. Definitely frustrating after spending around an hour going through the whole process.

I was pleasantly surprised when I called just before 7 pm on Aug 24, 2021, and was offered an appointment for an appraisal at 730 pm that night. The need to trade or sell my vehicle is urgent, so I excitedly rushed over to the Meridian Idaho store to get the appraisal. Despite having an appointment, I waited patiently for my appraiser, as the guy who greeted me said they were busy and someone would be with me shortly. After a short browse of the used lot, Alyssa met me outside and kindly offered to look at their online inventory, saying its updated every 5 minutes and if anything has been sold or is on hold it would be easier to identify on the site. We found some good options for test drives and narrowed it down to 2. She said she would have the appraisal done by the time I got back from the first test drive and Id be able to take the 2nd one out immediately after. After a few minutes wait she pulled the first vehicle around, dripping wet from being freshly washed, which made the wait feel more understandable. I opened the doors and walked around inspecting the vehicle for overall quality and potential defects, of which there were a few. Before completing the initial walk around, some jack wagon, wearing a name tag with Todd on it, rushed or and said You cant go on a test drive right now! Its past 8 oclock! Were closed! I dont know what Alyssa was thinking..? You cant take this vehicle off the lot now!! As he unprofessional and nervously struggled through this interaction, he went in to track down Alyssa and exclaim how its too late and she needed to give me my keys back and reschedule. He said the banks are closed so shell have to call and get the payoff tomorrow. I asked why the cant do an appraisal without a payoff amount - like other dealers have already done for me? Why do they schedule appraisals for 730 if they cant complete them in time before closing at 8? He couldnt answer those questions. He just said sorry. I told him Ill take my business elsewhere. Again, he just said sorry. Todd, Im sorry that YOU have ruined my opinion of Carmax. Prior to this experience, Ive enjoyed many other experiences with them. Unfortunately, I will not be back as long as you are there. Its not a fast food drive thru where you stop providing service to valued paying customers - right at closing time. Id recommend you go back to working somewhere like that - where such practices are acceptable. Very unprofessional for the car sales industry and a company with an established reputation for excellence in customer service, like Carmax.

Very pleased with this carmax. We were pre-approved for the loan and didn’t know that we needed some document saying so, Because carmax does their deals a little differently because it deals third parties. Anyways he tried his best to explain their policies and how they work and were so used to how normal dealerships do loans and it’s nearly a scam so we kinda closed our ears and said no. But he got, who I’m assuming is some sort of manager, to come help and explained very clearly how they’d go through the process of what they do, and how our bank will buy the loan and pulling credit again won’t show up or hurt our credit. After that it was super smooth. Very straight forward, caring people. I had one very minor service needed and they got me in within my 90 day warranty as fast as possible. It took about 3 weeks but they’re just as short staffed as anybody so we understand.

Absolutely ridiculous!The 1st vehicle I was going to buy they made a mistake and sold it, the 2nd vehicle they wrecked it, the 3rd vehicle that I finally purchased, mind you for over $60000, was having a rough ride so I took it into the shop and it needed a full engine replacement! Luckily I was able to return it but what a nightmare! I will never do business with Carmax ever again.

The vehicles seemed to be priced reasonably. They do not haggle. They do have a nice looking showroom. I went to several dealers in Boise and Nampa and they offered the most dor my lease return. If you are looking to sell your vehicle I recommend going here first

Attention: Carmax offers employees a $3000.00 discount on every car because they have so much profit in their cars. I have purchased 5 vehicles over the last 10 years from Carmax. I purchased a car from Meridian Carmax and they have lied and been totally unethical. After 6 weeks of attempting to get them to do the work they agreed to they had the GM Craig call. I have never spoken to a more condescending and rude person. 12 weeks after buying I still cant register the vehicle because it wont pass smog. Save yourself Thousands of dollars and tons of frustration avoid Carmax Meridian!

Overall, I had a great experience at CarMax in Meridian. Kiel (I believe that was his name) took great care of us. He had a lot of patience with my sister and I who were being total chatty Kathys. lol. I was also pleased to find out he is a vet who proudly served this great country.Additionally, I was VERY pleased with the offer on the car I was trading in. In fact it was about $1,000 more than what I was expecting to get. I am also loving my 2015 Nissan Rogue.I will definitely be going through CarMax for my next car purchase.

Horrible customer service. Impossible to get through to service, no one ever answers the phone. Bought a car in February and have had ongoing problems since then. They had me take it to Ford to have it programmed and the hatch still doesn’t lift properly.

Will never buy a car any where else again!! The whole team behind this Carmax is top notch 10/10! The first time in I dealt with Conner and Dave what a wonderful experience that was! Conner was in training this day and did a wonderful job. That car wound up not being the one for us. That being said they made finding a different one absolutely effortless. Ria was a joy and an absolute SAINT to work with while shopping and actually helped us find THE ONE! Michelle was wonderful, knowledgeable, caring, thorough, and helpful!! Around 1.5 months back, I bought a car from CarMax Meridian location. The car didnt had the stepney tire, jack available in it. When my wife and I inquiry about it, the answer we received was that it didnt came with the car and we have the option to not but the car if we dont agree on this.Before that, I had already lost the opportunity to buy my wishlist car for two times just because after 3pm no one will answer your call and at some part it was our mistake as we havent check the stepney before the payment was done.

I traded a Kia they gave me a good price and I traded for a Ford Fiesta 2018 and after a few weeks I went and traded it for a Hyndia Elentra and love it. The only thing is I left my expensive sunglasses in the ford and after a month they have not sent them to me.

The app was confusing and it automatically schedule my very first ride when I didnt want it to be scheduled so I had to pay a $5 cancellation fee and the driver they sent out the first time when I didnt want the ride couldnt find me the second time when I did want to ride the guy found me no trouble at all

This was a frustrating experience with Carmax. They delivered the car dirty, it took 3 times for them to clean several spots on the car that needed attention. The car needed minor repairs but was a struggle getting them scheduled for service. I wound up having to get Infiniti to complete the service and I am now waiting for reimbursement from Carmax because I had to front the money. The car had a disgusting air in cabin filter and engine filter, which was never changed by Carmax. I am surprised at the lack of care by Carmax. It was very difficult to get a hold of anyone at the store to handle the many issues I had.

For a first dealership car buying experience for my husband we could not have asked for more. Jenn was our sales woman and she was so fantastic. Super friendly and fun. Really enjoyed working with her! We walked in without an appointment, got the car we were looking for off auto trader, AND we got a super low interest rate from carfaxs in-house bank. (2.9%!!!). Could not be happier and when I replace my car in a couple years I will definitely be returning to this dealership.

Drove 2 cars down there to sell 1 from over an hour away and I was still sitting around 1 1/2 after my appointment not being helped. I had to tell 3 different people what was wrong with my car because messages werent passed on. I was told someone would get back to me but they never did. I had to reach out to them. Many times the phone would just ring or Id be on hold forever. When they told me everything was finally fixed and I got my car back I noticed they didnt get everything. So its still not fixed all the way. With as much as I paid for the car, which was 130% over book value and the cost of their maintenance, I expected better.

I am so incredibly grateful for our CarMax experience, and the amount of professionalism shown by the staff. We sold our car and had zero issues, they gave us a very fair price for the car, almost as much as I would hope with a private party with zero hassle! We were going to purchase a car from them, however, the car that we paid to ship to the Meridian store from another state wouldnt start. Which was disappointing, however, no fault whatsoever to the Meridian CarMax, this store didnt do the inspection. They did everything in their power to reschedule, and fix, and ultimately when we decided that we didnt want to risk the purchase they refunded us our transfer fees. I was expecting more of a fight, because you usually do with transactions like that, however the Meridian CarMax team did everything within their power to ensure that we were happy with our experience, and happy we are. 10/10 on smooth, transparent car buying/selling processes, they dont throw any curveballs and have the highest levels of professional service.

After we called the bank, and cleared it with them on what they would accept as proof of residence, everything went smoothly. The salesman and staff didnt want to call the bank, so I had to. Other than that, everything was great. So, dont be afraid to call the bank if you are having issues.

Prior to purchasing a vehicle, I spent weeks doing my research. After deciding on a vehicle, I took the next step and spoke with finance. Everything was done prior to going into the dealership. The day before my appointment, I called to verify the stipulations with the lender, so we had everything we needed. I did what I could on my end to make the pickup go smoothly. When we got there, that was not the case. I found out that they ran my credit on the wrong vehicle. Instead of calling the lender to update the information, they reran my credit and submitted it to 3 other lenders. Because of this, new stipulations. After two hours, I got fed up and left. CarMax called me and once again over the phone we got everything taken care of. On the credit application, I under estimated our income. I did this on purpose because I’m self employed and didn’t want to over estimate and have an issue with funding. We went in for our second appointment (new salesman.) Once again he stated that because we made more than we stated that they needed to resubmit my credit application. Instead of calling the lender, they resubmitted our application and sent it to 3 other lenders, again! When the salesman could tell that I was getting frustrated he stated “It’s not my fault, I’m just trying to help you!” My response was that if I hadn’t already done this 3 times in the last week, I wouldn’t be frustrated and that I didn’t want my credit hit with inquiries over and over again. CarMax’s response when I said this was “Well, as long as you buy a vehicle the inquires won’t hurt your credit.” When I said that’s not true, “shopping” hurts your credit, especially when they submitted 14 credit inquires. He stated that he’s worked at CarMax for 9 years and worked in the mortgage industry so I didn’t know what I was talking about. What he didn’t realize was I worked in finance in the auto industry, not just as a finance manager but as a funder with a lender. I currently work in the housing industry. I know what does and doesn’t affect your credit. If I didn’t want this certain vehicle, if I hadn’t already had my credit hit, if I hadn’t done all this work prior, I wouldn’t have purchased with CarMax. What was supposed to be a smooth transaction turned into a two week long ordeal. I recommend if you’re purchasing through CarMax, come in with your own lender. You don’t work with just one salesman or finance manager and they don’t communicate. I love my new vehicle! But the experience was the worst.
