Beware - Mussels are not fresh! We went to Seafood City, Milpitas on Saturday 23rd October 2021, whilst there we purchased a bag of Live Black Mussels. These were the last item purchased before we drove home a journey of no more than 30 minutes. On arrival at home when we open the trunk of the car there was an overpowering smell of rotten fish. This was due to the bag of Mussels. We removed the bag of Mussels into the kitchen and washed them to get rid of the smell and it was at this point we noticed that all of the Mussels shells were open. Even after handing and washing the Mussels they remained open. On checking the label, I noticed that the following information was printed on the label.- Harvested on 1st October 2021- Wet Storage Harvest on 7th October 2021- Enjoy by 19th October 2021Obviously the sell/use by date had expired by 4 days which meant that these Mussels were not fresh and may cause a FOODBORNE ILLNESS, as described on the label. These Mussels were obviously thrown away and not eaten. This is my first personal experience of shopping in Seafood City, Milpitas and I would caution any other shoppers to check the freshness and sell/use by date before purchase.
Food is good, but operation is so slow...
Its more than just seafood, a huge market as big as Safeway, maybe even bigger. I didnt go around the isles, but a quick look told me that they have all kinds of food items, and more - e.g. cosmetics. You can think of it as a huge Asian market, not just Chinese, but items from Japan, Korea, Thai (saw some Thai red chillis). They have a vast collection of meat and seafood. Both fresh on the ice and frozen packets. Live lobsters in a water tank. I was there to buy clams and oysters, and found what I was looking for. Multiple brands of cooked clams, oyster meat, mussels, shrimps, process fish and shrimp products. I love their collection of fish - e.g. they have fresh salmon both in steak cuts and fillet s, and small chunked pieces as well. There were one or two food courts inside, plus all other shops in the complex are inside a air conditioned mall - so there were few more places to eat outside it.
I mainly visit this place for chicken and fish on weekends. They have fishes from all parts of world, live crabs and lobsters . Neatly cut and arranged chicken/meat section. I always go for qtr-cut chicken. They do a nice job if you need your fish to be cut.Have seen people getting their pick cooked or pre-cooked.
Vegetables were sometimes rotten. One needs to choose very carefully. The supposedly fresh fish is not very fresh anymore, it actually smells. Id think twice before shopping here.
June 11,2021- 5:30- Bad customer service. The old woman cashier with red eye glasses at the BBQ section(ihaw ihaw section) is rude and impatient...very impolite to custumers and talks harshly.
Tasty Phillipine dishes with a street food appeal..... Crazy packed with all locals of that area. Food was disappearing as fast as it was being put out. No laing! Ahhh. I drove to Milpitas from Redwood City (30 minutes) just for the Laing and chicken skewers! Uhhhg! None left. Oh well. Better luck next time. Seafood City was super popular that day.
Always great to buy from here. Hospitable staffs and always offering fresh produce. Great experience as always!
I generally go to 99 Ranch Market for my seafood needs but this weekend I decided to give Seafood City Supermarket a try. Big mistake. I got a tilapia and asked for it to be fried. I waited for almost 35 minutes before I got a fish that had not been scaled properly nor had it been fried correctly to the extent of being under-cooked in certain areas. Checkout was another 10-minute wait. I’m sticking with 99 Ranch market. Only people with a lot of free time and patience can shop at this place.
Bought Pamana Thai Tea Wednesday, 12/16. Drink it at work the next day. Attached photos. This is whats inside.
Our new favorite grocery store. Very friendly staff and good prices.
Great Selection of Filipino groceries and other Asian food. They also have a Grill City, hot food, grilled and my favorite Pork BBQ Skewers very yummy... wide variety of fresh Asian produce and meat market. Its one of my favorite Seafood City Supermarket.
This place is great. They have so many little stores inside...Papa Johns Coffee, a Bank, a boxing place, a gym, a boutique, optics place w/ eye doc, beauty salon and the Grill City. Grill city has really great food and BBQ. But over the year the price has slowly climbed to where its not even worth buying. 4 little sticks of BBQ chicken or port is $17(round up). Just buy the chicken and do it yourself.Always fresh fruits and veggies available. The meats and fish is great too. They can clean, cut and cook your fish for you. A time saving service and your house wont smell. The worst part about this place is CHOW KING and the AROMA Coffee. These two place are at war with each other. Theyve placed a divider between their 2 dining areas. I thought dining area was common like a food court but not here.....I can go on and on......
One of the only places in the South Bay that isnt expensive and will cut your meats thin via a meat slicer.Highly recommend getting your seafood and meats here because they offer so much convience that isnt pre packaged. As in they can fry fish, filet fish, and cut your meats the way you like it.Well done!
Has some good restaurants and stores. I like the place where it has good Filipino beef. Also, I didnt like that they closed Beard Papas. Overall, the mall is ok.
Asian store that has a lot of Filipino groceries. They also have Filipino food and street food within the stores. If you love sweet sausage, this is the place. I also picked fresh fish and they clean and fry this. So before I start my groceries, I drop by and have my fish prepared. I just pick it up at the end of my shopping. Highly recommended.
Place is much cleaner and has more products available than all the other Asian grocery stores. Only downside is that items here are considerably more expensive. Lots place options though for warm/cooked food.
This is a supermarket inside a mall. Its small but had a decent selection of household and food items. For such a small space they were able to fit in a few food venues like a BBQ grill kiosk, a fast food cafeteria style business against the wall and a drink stand. I didnt try the food but the drink was ok, reminded me of a drink I often get at bamboo but not as good. The seafood section is where this place shines. The name says it all. They have fresh and frozen, reasonably priced seafood items thats definitely worth a peruse. I will come back to try a few of their seafood offerings in the near future.
Food is always freshly cooked when I go which is around 10:30am. On my way to work very convenient. I like just about everything I have ordered so far.
Filipino grocery store. Good fresh seafood and Filipino dried good. They have a good to go food area, that also includes grill meat and fish.
A lot of items cost more compared to other markets. Good place to buy seafood. Card paying machines are slow causing extra delays. Being able to have your fish cleaned ready for cooking is a big plus to me.
Good place to get Asian groceries. Great location but parking does get crowded because of the other businesses in the area. Recommend getting there early or during off peak hours. Staff is friendly and efficient.
So much fresh fish and you can request to clean it free of charge. Also complete with all you can buy in a market and other shopping and good restaurants.
We bought pork spare ribs today and it was bad. Me and my wife had diarrhea within 5 minutes after eating the ribs soup. Thankfully none of our children eat it. The only ingredients in the soup are cabbage, potatoes, onions, salt and pepper. All are good leftover ingredients but the spare ribs that we bought today. The ribs smell fishy, the raw left over and the soup will go to garbage can. What a waste of time preparing the food and money.
Large, clean, great selection.OK update 12/22/2019:EXCEPT a bad rip-off at the fish counter.During cleaning, they switched out some of our carefully selected fish for older, uglier ones, and gave us a lesser count (8) than we weighed in (12).You can only tell at home and thats bad, no recourse. We were the only ones with anywhere near the count for those fish at that time, and out tag number was correct. Will clean my own again in the future.
Fairly new place, took over strip mall where Home Depot used to be anchor tenant. Shelves well stocked, though you will need to learn the store as there is no logic in stocking.... deli was busy, food was good, but there is never enough seating way to crowded to enjoy a good meal.......
I came in to pick up some regular groceries. There was a good sale with chicken drumsticks and a few veggies as well. All the check out lines were pretty packed, but they moved at a relatively good pace. The rewards program completely went away so this is a big disappointment. Most of the meats and veggies are pretty fresh here. The services at the meat department takes a long time, but you need to take a number so at least you know approximately when you will get called.
Second time at this supermarket and will become my go to supermarket for Asian, mostly Filipino food. There’s a good selection of Asian food and condiments but definitely focus on Filipino cuisine. It’s worth noting that there’s a Grill City mini restaurant located inside the supermarket for prepared foods.
Been here so many times throughout the years. Parking is plentiful and it has the best location right off the exit. Great options and a cute shopping center reminiscent of the Philippines. It’s next to all the Filipino staple food and shopping spots
I was in the store the other day and I found everything I needed. The price and quality of the products they sell are good. I buy most of my seafood in this store. My visit was even more wonderful at the check out register. I was helped by a young lady named Camille. She was so nice and polite to helping me with all the stuff I was buying. It’s a great place to buy all of your Asian food needs.
I went to Grill City in Milpitas. I still think food is good. But I like the Union City location more friendly and fresh food.
Nice place
This place has almost everything you need when it comes to Filipino necessities. It has Valerios, Goldilocks, Chowking, Seafood City, and other types of small Filipino shops lying around. This place reminds you of a supermarket in the Philippines. Not much review can be given here other than the fact that its a pretty well known place for Filipinos to hang out in.
One of the larger Seafood City locations with plenty of parking and its close proximity to the 680 Landess exit.Large selection of fresh fruits, vegetables meat and fish. Also, there is a small Filipino eatery inside which serves precooked meals and grilled BBQ pork skewers.
The aisles are a tight fit, which is inconvenient for crowded hours. Sometimes expired products are still on the shelf. However, its a market that offers a lot of variety. There is a good selection for fish, and fruits that arent commonly found in American supermarkets. It predominantly consists of Asian products. Just remember to check everything youre trying to buy carefully.
Good spread of fish and vegetables. Need to be careful while choosing seafood. Not everything is fresh. But it is a better version of ranch for buying seafood.
If youre craving Filipino street food or Filipino food in general, this is where you go for a quick fix. They may not have everything but they have a varied selection. You can find Chowking, Goldilocks, and Maxs within the same shopping area, too.
The place to go if you want to buy Filipino foods and fresh fish. Grill city is in the store and they got some amazing fish already cooked. Filipino breakfast and bbq pirk and chicken skewers.
Great variety of grocery items, meats, produce, and seafood. Ill usually go here on the weekends to shop when Im cooking any Asian food at home. Yes, its very crowded on the weekends, but personally I dont mind it as the ambience of the whole shopping center reminds me of back home. Be sure to eat at Grill City, which is inside the store. The food there always hits the spot.
Really good fish, and they even carry Indian mackerel and other fish Indians are used to. They even clean up most of the fishes for you. The only issue is that the cleaning and cutting service can be hit or miss.
Asian supermarket that focus on Filipino food and neighboring Asian countries. Organized, clean, fresh seafood at low end price, fresh vegetables with lots of varieties. This nationwide chain is competing to be your regular to go to place for groceries. You see a lot of smiling and friendly Filipino-Americans.
Everything is good except the restrooms. The lighting is dim and usually ran out of toilet papers and doesnt look sanitary at all. You also need to walk all the way to the other side (almost like the storage area of the building) of the building in order to use it.
Always neatly organized and stocked! I love the grill city food!
Absolutely a Must Go To! If you want Filipino Groceries and Filipino Food! The place is very clean and organized! Love the Isaw (Street Food) ! It reminds us of being back home in the Philippines! We drive 2 hours away to shop at this place and will continue to do so!
Filipino supermarket with lots of Western and other Asian items on offer. Cleaner and better laid out than 99 Ranch.
Fresh grilled BBQ on a stick Filipino style, grilled seafood such as squid, and a variety of fish. If you havent tried the Bopis, its a must. I didnt think it would be good but it was fantastic!
Excellent choice for Filipino cuisine as well as groceries, fresh food, veggies that cannot be found in the usual large supermarkets
One of the fresher asian / seafood markets Ive been to in a while. Vibrant ambience and lots of people coming and going. Great selection of seafood and also ready to eat selections from vendors in the store.
Their fish are fresh and the store is very clean, other than that the prices are high
Oriental store and christmas season you can buy lantern...
I love this place ! Great meat selection especially they cut it pinoy style.. Fresh fish is a must variety is great some fried /cooked mest and fish ready to serve. My only comement is their pinoy street food $2.99 for 3 piece of banana que !! Not even soft enough to eat. They jacked up the price too much. More than a bag of frozen fish ball. Come on... Wag masyadong mahal ang mga yan...other than this any fried /cooked food are priced too much... Sorry nailabas ko lang ang nasa loob ko.overall recommed this place.😃
A lot of fresh produce. Cooked food. Grill city inside the milpitas locations. Filipino street food. Organized and clean.
Just fantastic service and food served here definitely a place to stop by have a bite and go to the market for your everyday needs.
Pretty good and fresh fish. Love this place!
A spot of the Philippines in the South Bay. From the festive banners, Asian products, Original Filipino Music over the sound system, and Filipino dishes at the Grill City Fastfood place inside the supermarket, its so Filipino!
Delicious food choices & verities of shopping stores, second only to the mall..
Great market for fresh seafood. Delicious food as well
My wife to be is Filipina. She put me on to this place. Lotsa exotic foodstuffs and other Filipino products here. Pass on the balut, tho.
Great Filipino snacks, variety of Filipino groceries, slim choices of vegetables and fruits section
Great selection of Filipino and Asian foods. The Grill City restaurant inside sells popular cooked Filipino dishes
My experience was great because this place is a massive store and its popular! :D
NO STAR.Most people who gave this place higher rating are oblivious to the quality standards of the U.S. So bias as it is, they do not know what good is. Stale bread, mold food, improper customer service and management, duty of product care violation everywhere in the store....etc. When one comes from another country and only knows what their country does for consumer care, you get this store and the lemmings that follow. This place needs an overhaul.... but it wont because proud of proud people think this is the Filipino way to do things.Too disgusted with the way businesses like these do not work out simply because of mismanagement and cultural habits.
Well stocked, asian market with many types of ingredients. Also has a restaurant inside for those who want to eat while shopping, and a fish preparation place that will cook your fish according to your specifications (if you so choose).
Once a month we go here to buy Filipino foods and delicacies
A lot of fresh seafoods, very well kept. Great store to shop for orientals
Great place to shop for Filipino food. The meat selections are packaged just right for whatever dish you want to cook and are always fresh.
Nice for seafood foods especiallyThe only problem is the wait time for them cleaning our selected fish ( but yeah not their problem, too many people are there on queue )
Fresh fish and vegetables, nice and clean place where you can buy asian products, filipino in particular with friendly atmosphere, try to visit this place and you wont be regrets.
Pretty nice selection of grocery but theres really shady areas in here. mostly everything towards the left is the best but the right side has some nasty looking areas, especally the restrooms
Food items we get are clean, fresh and at at a reasonable price.
Lots of Asian based ingredients. Fresh fish, produce, and a few food vendors kapamilia (family) will love. Some shopping carts dont have the leg slot for children to sit, but very friendly staff makes up for it.
Great shopping center with friendly people. Variety of different foods and shops to choose from
Nice clean grocery store but restroom is closed.
We really love the variety of selections and authentic Filipino food. We love Grill City as well. We highly recommend Seafood City Supermarket 👍👍👍
For a seafood supermarket i come here to buy pork belly! they slice it for you to the thickness you want. also a great selection of filipino food ready to eat!
Very nice and cooked food too. Fish looks very fresh and has goldilocks right next too it
One stop shop for Asian foods. Filipino restaurants like Goldilocks, Chowking is also a stop for fast food..
Fresh fish and good place to find tropical fruits
Management is not good especially on the grill department. Need to change the manager. He needs to go for nanagement training.he is siding the employees in front of the customers that are complaining for the crew attitude.so I suggest to evaluate your manager before you lost all the customers.
They got so many type of fruit and vegetable here
Great place to buy seafood and produce. Grill city taste good but the serving is small.
