Stopped in today to see if they knew of a place I could get a quick repair in my sunglasses. Everyone was super friendly, and they fixed my glasses in 10 minutes completely free of charge! Will definitely be back when I need my next pair!
I love Optix! I have experienced a top notch eye exam, exciting frame search and extraordinary eye care services when I had an accident with a gasoline splatter. Definitely 5 Star service and care!
Very friendly team, fast service, and a willingness to help quickly when your lenses get scratched up. Only been wearing glasses since 2019, don’t plan on going anywhere else.
Okay...4th pair of specs so my review is valid! Optix is IDEAL! Choosing frames is like browsing at MKE Art Museum gift shop! Young NON eye rolling staff help thumbs up or down with I think real forethoughtful experienced and intuitive care. Doc McG. has been..is..extremely pro, chill, purposeful lead of my quirky eye care needs here. I have prisms, and progressives in each RX so not EZ and Optix Doc and staff are all in as we pace comfortanbly through each exam, frame choice, and lens variables. Walk in and hah...you ll see! Thanks Optix Very much for your artsy frames and professional yet relaxed care!
We love Brian McGinley at optic on Downer Whether he is helping our older daughter with contacts and updating her prescription or our youngest with an emergency pair of glasses as her ophthalmologist is in Chicago .Brian in the entire staff are awesome.Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend
I have been a customer for five years. I have found glasses that are stylish (truly unique) and comfortable. The doctors are personable and answer your questions. Very little turnover on the office staff who are great for trying on glasses and helping with any questions. My dog recently chewed (one lens gone, frames chewed, ear pieces chewed off) a brand new pair of Rx sunglasses $$$$. I was going to throw them out in anguish, but decided to take them in to Optix to see if they had any suggestions. Carly, took the glasses and said let me see what I can do. One week later I picked them up and she worked magic, got me new lens and they were wearable and but for one mark, looked new. I did not get charged anything. REMARKABLE!! Thank you Carly and Optix.
This is a 5-star review for the owners prompt response to a terrible review I wrote in full stress, financial fears, and anger (about lots of other things in these awful times) after a $39 charge for an Optomap retinal scan administered during an annual eye exam. I had not been told in advance about the charge and was unjustifiably furious about the unexpected charge after my exam, as I have so many other medical costs that I need to cover (as well as food) with my poorly-paidand risky job trying to raise others children. I had just taken out $40 cash to go buy groceries, and flew into a rage about not being able to go shopping, which - of course - was ridiculous, as the homeless/panhandlers (far worse off than I am) ABOUND by the Pick and Save where I shop. The owner, Brian McKinley, both called and wrote an apologetic letter with a a reimbursement check for this oversight (disclosure of the exam and option to delay the test until next year). In all other aspects, Optix deserves a 5-star rating. It was unfair of me to fire off a vitriolic review about one small oversight due to my own financial and health fears at this stage time for all of us. I apologize and will write Dr. McGinley a snail-mail letter as well. He and his staff deserve it and did not deserve the rage-filled letter. I profoundly apologize.Julie Slightam
Great friendly and incredibly helpful staff, as well as very personable and intelligent doctors. Clearly a well ran practice that cares about its patients! Glad to have switched to them.
Love this place! Everyone working there is very friendly and the eye doctor I went to was very helpful and easy to talk to. They are open great hours so I dont have to take off of work for an appointment. Highly recommend!
I love Optix. I went to the same eye doctor for 25 years and found out after he retired he was gone. So feeling orphaned I wasn’t sure where to go and I’m so glad I picked Optix! Dr Pham is fabulous. She was not going to let me leave until I could see clearly out of my left contact lens. I have had problems with my left eye contacts for a few years and I just kind of figured well it’s just something I’m going to have to just deal with. Not after seeing Dr Pham! Oh my goodness it’s so nice to see more clearly! It’s like a whole world opened up for me! I’m so glad I came to Optix and saw Dr Pham. She is awesome! Their staff is really nice. So thank you for adopting me! And the price was great too! Thank you so much!!!
So grateful for this place. I came in from out of town and forgot my contacts. My parents live in the neighborhood and we decided to give it a try and see if they could give me some trials. Everything worked out perfectly and everyone was so nice. Go to this place, and not just when you’re in a bind!
BEWARE!!!!! They do NOT tell you that you will pay $40 for a retinal scanAS DO OTHER PLACES -including Metro Eye -until AFTERWARDS!!!!This is a place for RICH people!!! Stay away!I will NOT return here ever again for that reason: it is a place -like many on Downer - for rich people, not lowly MPS aides and childcare workers. I most object to them NOT asking me if I wanted a retinal scan, as Amy Jankowski at the equally-as-upscale Metro Eye and at even at Wisconsin Vision always did. This is a sad show of paying for expensive diagnostic equipment during a routine annual eye exam covered by my insurance. I needed that money for groceries.
Very pleased with this place -- I used to go to another optometrist on Prospect and was delighted with the difference in coming here. I got excellent glasses for a lower cost than my previous pair 5 years ago with fast, responsive service.
The staff at Optix on Downer is extremely friendly, dedicated, and competent. I was not previously a customer of Optix when I called today with a favor. One of my students had been bullied and his glasses were stepped on; I called around to local places to see if someone could fix them. Without hesitation, the ladies from Optix went above and beyond for someone that might not have ever came back. Because of this positive and heartwarming experience, I will look to Optix for my future eye care needs. Additionally, I would highly recommend working with this phenomenal staff!
This place rocks. I was a week early for my appointment and they saw me anyway. I was in and out in under an hour. The staff and doctor were awesome. I went to Stanton optical first and walked out after a botched tele exam and a rude saleswoman annoyed me. Go here for service as it should be.
Let me start by saying the folks at Optix will go the extra mile for you. I have a very busy schedule and was having a hard time getting in to pick up my glasses. They offered to bring them to me downtown to my office in the US Bank building. I felt bad but took them up on the offer. Wow, I havent been able to see this good in years. I paid for premium products and services and that is exactly what I received, thank you so much, you now have a customer/patient for life!
Very friendly and helpful staff. They always adjust my glass frame whenever it bends between the scheduled appointments and ready to answer whatever questions I may have.
Im so impressed with the professionalism, communication, and customer service I experienced at Optix on Downer! Im in love with my new glasses. All my questions were answered, all my needs meet, and the process went smoother than I ever could have imagined. :) Ask for Tyffani; shes the best!
I like the customer service and selections for frames! Being somewhat frugal, I think the pricing is a bit up there, because I know there are buy 1 & they give 1 stores out there, such as Warby Parker. It helps to have insurance that will cover a chunk.
I bought some sunglasses from a website that turned out to be too small for my head. I went to Optix and even though they were very busy at the time and I didnt buy from them, one of the employees adjusted them in the back free of charge! A++ would definitely go again.
Walked in today to purchase frames for something I had lost in New York City. They were able to get the same frame that I had bought in New York ordered and promise a 1 week turnaround on my bifocals!!! Are you kidding me.... I think I found my new spot and will tell everyone about this little gem of an optical shop. When you stop by ask for Kelly!
My mother always said if you dont have anything good to say, then say nothing at all. I agree but also believe that when I have a good experience and want others to have the same, I should scream it from the rooftops. Let me preface my comments by saying that Ive worn glasses my whole life (40+ years, YIKES!) and have lived in several major cities on both east and west coasts. Finding a great (not just good) optometrist is always at the top of my list. I re-located from Boston for work about five years ago and would see my old optometrist when Id make trips back home. Seems logical considering appointments took place every two-years. That is, until I needed to see someone right away. Enter Dr. McGinley and the staff at Optix. Professional, attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable come to mind. All my needs were taken care of and did I mention the frames? They offer higher-end, better quality frames than the average. You get what you pay for and as far as Im concerned, the more you pay dictates how youll care for your glasses. If you want a great optometrist, quality eyewear and a good experience, Optix is the place for you!
Kathy, the office manager was extremely helpful when I needed help measuring my pupillary distance. I have never been to Optix before. Despite this she was kind enough to offer this service gratis. I ended up ordering a pair of speciality lenses today. Thank you for being kind and helpful!
A pretty awesome place in a pretty awesome location. It was my first time there and the place definitely made a big impression. My new go to. Plus, I can now see clearly now like a window freshly windexed.
The selection of frames is phenomenal. So many choices that you wont see elsewhere. Also, with Dr. McGinleys help I am able to read with contacts that dont dry out within an hour or two.
I thought I was doomed to never see again until I came to these folks. I did what most do and tried to cut corners by ordering online - big mistake - and tried every run of the mill glasses spot. My prescription was always off and the headaches kept getting worse::: Until I came to Optix. I could not be happier with my new glasses. That changed when I got my new puppy. She was able to find my specs one morning while I was blindly trying to make coffee and, well, destroyed them. This was devastating at first because they were perfect. I brought them back to Optix while wearing my awful spare set and started to pick out some new frames. It had earlier crossed my mind to try and fix them like I do with most everything of mine that breaks - but it just seemed impossible to me. The frames were bent and twisted, the hinges blown out and lenses gone. (Thankfully not eaten) But I dont know glasses. These folks do. AND were open to trying. So for the price of some new lenses (cant buff out teeth marks) some small titanium parts and some elbow grease my frames were totally fixed! Super Impressed with their work.Stop wasting your money elsewhere and give these kind people your money. They deserve it.
Going the extra mile every time... Whether its a scratched lens or warranty service on a designer frame, all of their staff try to make me happy and save me time and money. On at least 3 visits, the staff gave service I did not expect, yet I left very satisfied each time...
Would absolutely recommend Optix on Downer to everyone! I recently had a pair of lenses made for my Lindberg frames at a local optical store near my home, but they just could not adjust them properly. Because Optix on Downer carries Lindberg frames, we decided to bring them in for adjustment. A young woman by the name of Larissa waited on us. In spite of the fact that we hadnt purchased the glasses from Optix, she gladly offered to adjust and check them ... which she did to perfection. I offered to pay for her time, but she refused and asked instead if I would like to make a donation to their autism fund.I gave her all the cash I had on me, which was only five dollars, but Id gladly have dropped a twenty in their fund if Id had it on me. Ill catch her next time around because we will absolutely be repeat customers. Both ladies in the store were very courteous and professional and their store is very cool and upbeat. If youre shopping for glasses, make sure to stop at Optix on Downer. Youll be glad you did.Paula Erickson Bickelhaupt
I walked in on the wrong day after missing up my appointments and they were nice enough to still fit me in. The staff was quick and friendly and I definitely recommend Optix to others.
Best selection of hip frames in Milwaukee metro. Excellent service.
Awesome place! Awesome service! Love my Zero Gs!!
Excellent service, friendly staff, lifelong customer
I went there for an eye exam, and the Dr. that I had seen tried to keep changing my prescription (which has been the same for the past 5 years) to a prescription that was almost 1 point less that what I had been wearing for the past 5 years, and wanted me to try it but didnt have that particular prescription of contacts in house and had to special order it out so that my contact lens fitting/trial would be complete before they would let me order more contact lenses? When they got the trial pair in, they did not fit right and I could hardly see out of the lenses? I have been wearing contacts since I was 14 years old, and know that the pair that I have been wearing for the past 5 years fit just fine!!! I was totally given the run around, when all I wanted to do was have my yearly eye appointment so I could order more contact lenses. I then went back to see if I could get a nice looking pair of glasses because my dog had chewed mine up, and the prescription that they have on file for eye glasses is 1 point lower that what my contact prescription is, just like what the doctor had tried to put me in for contact lenses that didnt work. When I asked about it, the guy at the counter said your eye glass prescription is going to be a little bit different than your contact lens prescription One whole point different? right? Also the lady that works the front counter, to help you pick out glasses, does not smile at all or have any customer service skills at all. I had a horrible experience and do not plan on every going back there!
Been going here for years. Excellent doctors, excellent staff, excellent service.
I ordered contacts from here and I paid for them to ship it since I live farther away, and I didnt get anything for 2 weeks. I called them and they didnt know what I was talking about and they completely ignored or forgot my shipment.
If you dont buy their frames theyll provide you with an incomplete prescription and you wont be able to get glasses anywhere else.
