We stumbled upon this place as we were strolling through the neighborhood. All 8 flavors we had were perfectly flavored (and pairing some flavors was a flavor explosion). The “flights” option allows you to try more than 1 flavor, def shareable (we couldn’t choose and landed up with 2 flights, 8 flavors!). Generous scoops and really nice employees.

We were at Dan Dan’s for dinner and the server there recommended this place for ice creams. I need to go back and thank that server because the ice -creams here were amazing. They have a variety of flavors and each one tastes incredible.Friendly staff serving generous scoop of ice cream. We tasted a few and finally got the raspberry sorbet, vanilla, and Old fashioned. The ice cream was great. Next time I am getting the full flight which gives you four scoops of ice cream. Quick shout to the freshly made waffle cones they smell amazing.Overall I really enjoyed it and will be back for more. Would recommend it to anyone

Please come here!!! Customer service is out of this world friendly and the ice cream, always delicious. My BF and I visit MKE once a year and come here every time. We share a flight (of four flavors) between us both and it’s plenty. This time around both of our favorite flavors was the “Door country cherry chocolate chunk”. Place, bathroom were clean, service efficient and charming. Can’t say enough good about this business.

Really good ice cream and a friendly staff. We got a two-scoop bowl with one scoop of Whiskey ice cream (from Great Lakes Distillery, which we had just visited) and one of Bourbon Praline Pecan (made with Woodford Reserve). Both were very good and it was very creamy. This particular combination could have benefited with some mix-ins, but most flavors have plenty of mix-ins already.

I went to purple door on the night of the 17th in August. Me and my bf wanted ice cream and loved it the last time we came so we returned. When I got to the front I was greeted by a really nice guy, he was very happy and smiling. He was friendly and easy to talk to and very fun to be around. He made our average ice cream run into laughing and joking around. It was so busy yet he was still patient and very nice even under stress! At the end I asked him about his eyebrow piercing and he was happy to answer! Whatever he’s getting paid, it’s not enough. I came for the food ice cream, now I’m retuning because of the amazing customer service! Thank you so much!! (I never get your name I’m sorry!)

Absolutely excellent staff and the best ice cream weve ever had! Highly recommend the ice cream flight and that you take the opportunity to get a small taste of a flavor if youre unsure. Sadly, no good seating indoors or out, but a steady flow of lined up customers shows this is no hindrance to getting such a tasty treat!

I love trying the “weirder” ice cream flavors that Purple Door offers, but I find that even their simple flavors are delicious. For example, I am ashamed to admit I could probably eat gallons upon gallons of Honey Vanilla. My new favorite is Mountaintop Cold Brew Blackberry Chip! This place is worth the long lines of people it draws in.

The ice cream isnt as good as custard and its really just like Babes or any other ice cream shop. They try to be unique with all these odd flavors but most are just blah. I dont get why they are crowded

Always the best; the line moves, its so worth the wait. Ride your bicycle and show your bicycle benefits sticker for 20٪ off. The kiddie scoops of this rich ice cream are still generous and very economical. Venture and get a flavor you have never had in an ice-cream!

Visiting a friend for the weekend and she recommended Purple Door as a must. We ordered a Chocolate Sorbet (vegan - pudding like consistency) and a White Russian - both were delicious!! Great business strategy to rotate ice cream flavors to keep customers coming back for more - there are unique ones that you can try with a mini flight rather than buying a whole scoop and regretting it. Very fairly priced as well. Happy to support a local business, especially when there is ice cream involved :)We waited in line for about 30 minutes (around 6:30pm). They are following social distancing guidelines by limiting the number of customers inside and requiring masks. Worth the wait.

I found this ice cream shop searching and decided to try it when my friend came to visit. Everyone that worked there was fun, personable, and knowledgeable of all things flavor! I only had to sample the “Purple Moon” new vegan to fall in love. They give a great portion size for the cost. You cannot beat homemade! My friend is back home in NC and still talking about it. I’d definitely recommend.

Only thing I was disappointed in was the vegan flavor I tried (Graham Cracker).Trust me, I love vegan ice cream as much as (if not more than) dairy ice cream, but the consistency of the vegan ice cream was kind of bad and the coconut flavor from the alt milk really overpowered it.OVERALL though - you should ABSOLUTELY come here (and maybe stick with dairy-based flavors if possible).

Love their ice cream flight! Its perfect to split. Always awesome unique flavors. If you like orange dreamcicle you will like the orange cake flavor. The chocolate is amazing too (even though usually I like all the unique flavors here). You cant do wrong really at purple door.

The ice cream was really good I had salted caramel and my daughter had purple moon. One scoop was a lot of ice cream. We enjoyed it.

Perfect! Crowded for a reason, so bring yer mask! Waffle cone was crispy and tender, door county cherry was balanced with cherries, a lil’ benzaldehyde-like flavor and chocolate chunks that were suitable for ice cream! Highly recommend!

Their Salted Caramel is the best Ive ever had. I get it in a sugar cone while my husband tops his dish of Salted Caramel with pecans, hot fudge and more caramel to make a Turtle Sundae. Great stop when we are out and about the city on Rollerblades

They were quite busy but they got thru the line pretty quickly. The ice cream was great as well. We had the chocolate malted chocolate chunk and the whiskey ice cream.

The ice cream was great! They had interesting flavors and a lot of traffic. 🏳️‍🌈 friendly and some seating. They move the line fast, but you may not always have a seat. But make sure you go! The whiskey and espresso flavors were to die for!

Creative flavors and concepts, but the tastes themselves weren’t revolutionary. It’s America’s fairyland after all, so it wasn’t bad, but I think I’m getting a picky taste for ice cream. Overall a very hopping place with some really interesting flavors of ice cream. Had the large flight which was a better value than just getting 2 scoops. It was definitely more expensive and a lesser value, as far as serving size, than I expected.The flavors themselves were really unique and something you might find in a gelato shop--tho a little more muted here.Good place to try once but Leons is better but less creative.

Great ice cream. No waffle cones on Sunday after Bucks/Brewers games due to understaffing. If the line is out the door, maybe implement a ‘no samples’ rule. Each customer shouldn’t take five minutes.

A truly unique Milwaukee experience! Take first-rate small batch ice cream, and combine it with completely one-of-a-kind flavors, and you have The Purple Door. The only downside is that regular ice cream is disappointing after youve been here a few times! My advice, order something youd never think of ordering...and if youre not quite sure, ask for a taste!

Over 16 rotating flavours, many which use local ingredients from places like Stone Creek Coffee Mocha and Anodyne espresso, Great Lakes Distillery, Lakefront Brewery. They give samples and have a happy atmosphere that makes adults feel like happy little kids. The waffle cone is homemade and amazing. A great place to also spend some time for meeting friends or even a date with yourself!Example flavours: Earl Grey with Biscuits, Spicy Chocolate, Double malted chocolate, Honey Vanilla, Raspberry Green Tea!

Delicious, homemade, and unique ice cream and sorbet treats that are as local as you can get. My personal favorite is the molasses cookie espresso ice cream sandwiches. Wow, just wow! So many flavors to try. The use of decadent dark chocolate chunks mixed with flavors such as Raspberry and Malted Chocolate are wonderfully satisfying. Pints to go, although I wish they also had quarts. Curbside pickup and local delivery are very handy during COVID, but cant wait to again take friends into the store. For a special family gathering at home try the ice cream kits--Do it yourself Sundae, Root Beer Float, Ice Cream Sandwiches. Located just a few steps south of the Third Ward and worth the short trip!

I can genuinely and honestly say this is the best tasting ice cream Ive ever had. I stopped on a whim, and I WILL be back next time in in Milwaukee.

We were so excited to try your ice cream tonight 1/2/21 around 9pm. Your website and google state that you close at 9:30pm. We found a parking spot and went inside, the door was open and we came up to the register and when the women came out, she said you guys are closed and have been for a while. I told her that it states online that you close at 9:30pm she didn’t seem to care. We left and she locked the door. If you close at another time. You should really lock your door and put it on your website. Please also get friendlier people to work for you. She was disrespectful and seemed like she just wanted to leave.

A local staple. The salted caramel is a must have in my freezer. So. Flippin. Good. And they rotate their flavors to include a variety of funky options as well as traditional (including some with alcohol!). Open super late in the summer with a line out the door at 10pm, no joke.You have to try it!
