UPDATE: Was informed by a person at the shop (11/20/2020) that they fry their donuts in a mixture of soybean oil, beef fat and lard (pork fat). I cant say Ive met a jam donut I didnt like here.Their selection of specialty donuts varies by week. This week they had banana cream pie. One word: WOW! My husband and I inhaled these donuts. It was a raised ring donut with a salted caramel/butterscotch glaze with banana pastry cream in the middle. Im so sad we only got two of these.My husband likes apple fritter donuts so I got a cinnamon apple fritter donut. Unfortunately, the fritter was raw in the middle. That was a bummer.If you dont like jam or specialty donuts, they also have classic raised rings or old fashioned. We have only ordered through Grub Hub, but the doughnuts are always super soft, fresh and delicious. Never soggy or taste of old fryer oil. Thier rotating inspired doughnuts have been unique and creative. Prices are average for high end, premium quality doughnuts.

We used Cardigan for our wedding desserts and it was the best! Maya was amazing to work with, she was incredibly responsive, flexible and made the donut display look amazing. Our guests absolutely loved the donuts instead of cake! This was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Thank you so much Maya and Cardigan for helping make our day such a dream!

Great donuts and donuts with interesting and unique types of donuts. Plenty of opportunities to try something new or grab an old favorite. Theyre conveniently located in the city center and the staff is great as well. A little expensive, but the quality is high and the experience is unique enough to make it worth the money.

Yup, Good donuts! However, extremely misleading marketing/advertisement leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They will send Facebook, Messenger & Text advertisements with some sort of Free Donut giveaway but its always a Buy-One-Get-One free or $$$ off a dozen, etc. which you only find out well after signing up. Now, I dont mind the BOGO (that is a good deal), but I really wish they were more honest & upfront with that. Honest advertising is always the best policy because what theyre currently doing feels gimmicky...I do good donuts not gimmicks.

I know what people think makes a great donut can vary tremendously so Im certainly not speaking for everyone. But for me, Cardigan Donuts definitely lived up to my lofty expectations! While the mall that they reside in is all but a ghost town these days, their shop is bright and clean with many glass displays full of beautiful, delicious looking donuts! They were light and airy and the cake donuts had that slightly crusty outer layer with the soft inside. They definitely made my morning and I most definitely will be going back!

Cardigan donuts is so good! Parking in downtown is not my favorite thing; however, these donuts are worth navigating the skyway for. Today we had a lemon poppyseed cake donut with a lavender drizzle. If that doesnt make your mouth water check your pulse...you might be dead.

I am a doordash delivery driver and I was standing in the store for at least 5 whole minutes before any employee acknowledged me. My order sat ready to be picked up since I walked in, and each of the 5-6 employees on shift ignored me until I said something. Very unpleased with my experience and I will never spend my personal money there.

We love Cardigan Donuts! You will want to sink your teeth into these classic and unique donuts. Our favorites were the Sprinkled cake donuts, the classic old fashioned and the fritter. We loved the open feel and there was plenty of room to move around and for seating. Friendly staff were happy help! Oh and we are big fans of iced coffee and loved the cold brew coffee on tap here. Try it!!

Ordered special St Patrick’s day donuts for my family today. I would highly recommend the key lime pie inspired donut, just the right combination of tart, tangy, n sweet. The rainbow road donut had more kidtastic flare, and a nice crisp and taste reminiscent of fair food.

I order a 12 oz iced mocha, 1 coffee cake donut and 3 French Cruller donuts. I did order from a delivery app and waited for a long time for the driver.The only thing they got correct was the 1 donut and the coffee. They were out of some of the things I delivered and never let me know. They sent me donuts that I did not order. If I wanted the ones they sent me I would have asked for them. I waited over an hour to get a delivery of old donuts I did not order. They did add a fifth donut as if to make up for the point they were out of my order.The donuts are hard. They are almost crunchy and do not taste fresh.The coffee spilled in the drivers vehicle. I know this because the straw was wrapped with paper that was covered in coffee. There was a piece of tape covering the straw hole for the coffee. So someone uses their fingers to grab the tape and then sticks it to where I drink out of?The iced mocha was little to be desired. I am glad I only ordered the 12oz. It tastes like old coffee with mocha.All in all, Im not impressed with this spot. For the price they charge I would expect some more professionalism and freshness of their products.If you are out of a product it is up to you to let the customer know and then ask if there is something else they want to order or if the order should be canceled.

I get the feeling that these Gourmet donuts have a drawn out design blueprint somewhere. Some real R&D has been put into the recipes of these gourmet pastries. I was taken back by the attention to detail. So many varieties- all gourmet. These are made with love by an artisan. Feel privileged to be able to get your hands on them.

Woke up early on this Saturday morning just to be disappointed! I first had Cardigan Donuts at a wedding where I tried the Raised Bar. I immediately fell in love with it because of the boiled milk icing they place on top-it tastes like whipped cream! -Delicious! I called last Saturday to inquire if they have any Raised Bar donuts available for curbside pick-up and the rep stated that they ran out as its a favorite but suggested that I can put in an order next week. I took his advice and placed my order on Wednesday to have it picked up today on Saturday. When ordering online, I was taken back at how little control we consumers have when placing an order. The only option we have is a Dozen of Assorted Donuts or a box of Donut Holes. What if we dont like all their other donuts?? I feared to myself. This was a turnoff but I still decided to give them a try. Once you add this option to your cart, there is a textbox where they state for you to Please tell us if youd like specific donuts so I took full advantage of this. I specifically requested at least 6 donuts to have the Boiled milk icing as it has on the Raised Bar donuts and then put in miscellaneous requests to fill the rest of my order. Today I was looking forward to eating some Raised Bar donuts but to my surprise, not even one of those was included in my dozen! I opened my box up to see that I received 6 old fashioned donuts (my least favorite donut!)...If I wanted this many Old Fashioned donuts I could have easily gone to the gas station by my house. Why would I need to order it from a place thats 20 minutes from my house in Downtown?? Disappointed is an understatement. I understand this is an assorted dozen but Cardigan Donuts, I also understand that you make your donuts fresh daily so I thought that by ordering 3 days ahead this would increase my chances of having at least ONE of your highly Favorited Raised Bar donuts! All pickup orders are ready at 8:30am on Saturdays and I arrived to pick-up my order at 9:15am...this is also something that I understand you all run out of very quickly so why arent enough being made then? This is now two consecutive weekends where I have been unable to obtain Raised Bar donuts! This is unacceptable and I am far from happy with my experienceUpdate: Owner of Cardigan Donuts reached out and learned that his team had mis-read my order and set me up with 6 old-fashioned donuts rather than 6 Raised Bars. He provided me a refund and offered to deliver donuts to my house. I am highly appreciative of his outreach and solution and I will be glad to continue doing business with Cardigan Donuts in the future.

To preface, my wife and I have been on a serious mission of trying every well reviewed donut place within an hour driving distance of us to find the best. I’ve tried a ton of donuts, not all, but a lot. I get a raised glazed donut everywhere I go, and I get there an hour after the shop is open to make the testing fair. (My wife is a scientist so she’s a stickler for fair testing). Personally, I test for how pillow-y and soft the donut is, the quality and ratio of glaze to donut, price, customer service and convenience. The last three are secondary categories since at the end of the day I just want the best donut. So far, my wife and I completely agree that Cardigan has been the best by a long shot. Perfect ratio of glaze to donut and the most pillow-y donut I’ve tried so far. It’s not the cheapest donut nor the most convenient location since it’s more downtown, but the quality of donut you get here makes it 100% worth it. We’ll be back this weekend and probably once every weekend... for testing purposes of course ;)

Yall are blind, ive beena chef for 20 years, its like a kid made these, filled doughnuts had no filling they offered cholate sauce with the churro 1 i didnt get, they brought it out to my car. It was gummy stuck to its self was mlstly spices amd coco, barley amy sugar and HOT, it was aweful HOT for them not saying its spiced, they said chocplate sauce, not spiced glaze or fudge ( it was glop that had trouble pulling from its self, 4/17 was date on the sauce Over 2 weeks old it was extreamly nasty )(( UPDATE owner said health board says 30 days HIS DEFENSE MEAMS THAT AINT CHANGING, THATS NOT FRESH AND LEAVES DEGRADED FLAVOR)) )cant come back here till its fixed also the jam has no shine, they dont add simple sugar to it its literally not jam it has no pectin added jam has no flavor no salt, you have to add a pinch of salt.i believe the pastry chef does not have a degree in baking, or hes just bad i chamged to 3 because he was a nice respectful and forth-coming gentalmen who offered a refund even tho that wasn the point

Ordered a few boxes for delivery. Asked for early as they could and they met that request. Great selection and everyone found something to try. Got a thing if coffee and got plenty of this is really good. Super happy with the service and delivery. Great tasting and very fresh donuts. Give them a try.Follow up: Got more delivered today. Are they a bit expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely!! We drive 20 minutes every Saturday to go here. Probably the 2nd best donuts we’ve ever had in the cities. ( sadly the first closed because of COVID) Their chai isn’t great but then I have yet to find anywhere in the cities that isn’t watery and disappointing and that’s the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars but as long as the donuts stay awesome then I’m gonna keep going.

I ordered a dozen donuts to be delivered to my daughter. I don’t live in MN, so I chose Cardigan based on reviews. I selected to let the shop choose which donuts to put in the dozen since I am not familiar with them. My daughter sent me a picture of the donuts (that I paid $20 for) and I can say, they look to be quite disappointing. I expected a couple of “fancy” donuts of some type. Nope. They were all plain glazed or frosted with sprinkles. Disappointing for the cost, but my daughter loved the donuts. So quality is good, but don’t let the staff select your donuts!

This place should have a perfect 5. Don’t know why you would give something less. I eat a lot of donuts and have eaten donuts from many places across the country. This is one of the best places for donuts. They do the classics incredibly well. The donuts are always fresh. Most places bake donuts too early in the morning and don’t refresh part way through the day. Our favorites are the glazed raised, old fashioned, glazed cake, and cinnamon sugar apple fritter. The donuts perfectly balance moisture and density with the appropriate amount of glaze or sugar. The ingredients are high quality and do not taste like plastic like cheap donuts. Also, many donut makers overcook donuts. The chefs here know exactly when to take the donuts out of the fryer for that perfect golden brown and soft texture. I could go on. We come here every Saturday morning. And you should too.

Went for some 4th of July inspired donuts and they did not disappoint. Their take on the bomb pop - delicious. Their take on orange dreamsicle - to die for. The apple fritter is also amazing, but I have to say my favorite was the good old fashioned donut - so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My mouth is watering just thinking about it - cant wait to go back!

The joy of Cardigan Donuts begins with seeing all the beautiful donuts they have to offer arrayed in their large display cases. Then theres choosing your delectables for the day. And, finally, eating them.Every time I have Cardigan Donuts, I think to myself, Wow! I forgot how good their donuts are. Today was no exception. I had a blueberry cake and powdered sugar cake, Boston cream bismark, and a death by chocolate. The cake donuts and the Boston cream bismarks are the best of their kind anywhere, in my opinion. And Ive eaten a lot of donuts. The death by chocolate was a frosted long john topped by candy bars. A donut with candy bars on top. Yes! As if that werent enough, it also had chocolate cream filling.I should mention that I called the shop before going there, as it was my first visit since the pandemic. My call was at 8 am on a Saturday morning and the person I spoke to was easily the friendliest and most helpful worker Ive ever spoken to. They really made me feel that they were happy to speak to me and answer all my questions. A+++ for customer service!Obviously, I will return to Cardigan for more of their delights.

If youre downtown and want/need a doughnut, this is your destination. Gourmet flavors without going crazy, prices slightly higher than a chain doughnut shop, but not exorbitant. Some flavors hit, some miss, but all are interesting. Standard doughnut offerings available if youre not feeling adventurous. Grab a cup of coffee while youre here as a strict upgrade to the coffee downstairs.

I come at least once a week, if not more. Its been terrible during quarantine because the walk there does not burn off the delicious donut I purchase as a treat. Ive never had a donut I didnt like from there. Hands down the best plain old fashioned glazed donut Ive ever had.

Ive had these donuts 3 times now so I feel pretty confident in telling you these are the New Reigning champion of donuts! Beating out Angel Food (airport location) for the top spot. Texture is superb, super fresh, and flavors are poppin.

Amazing donuts!

They have great donuts, some are basic like their old fashioned donut and some are more complex, there’s something for every taste. They also have good coffee and offer kombucha on tap. The decor is very Swedish modern, bright colors with cool, clean lines. Giving four stars because while most employees have been friendly there are some who have a bad attitude.

The best in the Midwest! We only get to make it here about once a year. Unless you work somewhere connected to the skyways in downtown Minneapolis its hard to get to.

The donuts here are delicious. The raised glazed are fluffy, sweet and tasty without the preservative aftertaste you sometimes find in mass-produced donuts. By extension, the chocolate raised are amazing. The chocolate frosting tastes like real chocolate — much better than Dunkin. The crullers are good but I was surprised at how much more I enjoyed their churro donut — same donut, different topping. And the old fashioned glazed are terrific- moist, substantial and tasty. The coffee is strong and smooth and compliments the donuts well. Early in the day gets the better selection.

Yogurt bowl was very filling and a good sized portion. Everything was fresh and prepared quickly. Coffee was top notch. I didnt have room for doughnuts this time, but they all looked amazing. They also have a small selection of cards and gifts with a quirky sense of humor!

Ordered donuts to have delivered. They did not have the donuts I ordered so they substituted fruit filled donuts without asking- I hate fruit filled donuts! I had to throw them away. I waited 40 minutes for my breakfast-which I did not get and wasted $20 because they refused to give me a refund.Terrible customer service.
