I was recommended Fluid Motor Union multiple times and finally gave them a chance and the only regret I have is not going there sooner. This place offers awesome service and gets the work done for a fair price. Personally, I love that they will offer you a ride back to work/home if you are local and the inspection sheet that they send you after even an oil change on the car. It proves they went through everything and even take pictures to prove it other then just trying to trust their word if anything needs attention. They need to just be a little more kind on the phone it feels like a rush and they just answer “hello” instead of greeting you, but other then that I will keep coming back and I’m already serving my other vehicle their now too.

I have had 3 BMWs that I have bought used, all 10+ years old and they do an amazing job of identifying issues, explaining them, advising on what is urgent and what can wait. I reached out to FMU to get a new exhaust/downpipes/intakes. As I am new to aftermarket car mods I was looking for advice and which way to go. I communicated through email mostly with a crazy woman and what I assume a teenage boy (Donnie), both of whom I would never put in charge of communication with a doorknob let alone my business. We ordered the parts, all fine and good, I paid upfront. After a few weeks I begin to wonder where these parts are as I saw on the vendor site that they might be back ordered.This is where everything falls apart. The woman that answers calls doesnt know the difference between an exhaust and downpipes, which is something I would think that the person answering the calls for a business that only does car work might know. So she tells me all of the parts are in and to come on Tuesday. I show Tuesday to drop my car off and the exhaust isnt there lol. She threw a fit that she cant be in charge of knowing where all of the orders are and what the parts are, which is strange because I thought that was her job.Then I get to work with Donnie, the most unaware customer service person Ive ever met. Since Donnie couldnt figure out how to find where parts are from the vendor I had to try and track down where the parts are.. over a month after ordering them. Donnie then sends me an email to stop calling his vendors all over the country, that he has proof that I did this lol. The only person I called was the exhaust manufacturer, they called around to find where the part was.This was the weirdest experience Ive had with a company.. I can not show my dissatisfaction with a company more than this review.At the end of the day, they gave me no discounts for all the trouble and name calling from their customer service. It was comical. In fact, I had to pay them $800 to put on the parts, which they ordered the wrong part for the downpipe, they ordered it for a RWD when I have an AWD so I had to take it off since it didnt sound right.And Donnie told me to go to Blood Type Racing for further work since they know my car better. What a joke of a place. Im guessing this business was built on the backbone of OJ the owner who is technically sound, but he gave his friends/family jobs and theyre ruining it.

I called about 2-3weeks ago inquiring about getting work done on my 97 Lexus LS400. I had the parts on order and was just needing someone to do the work. I needed the timing belt changed since it was long over due since the previous owner never followed the maintenance schedule. When I called I spoke to a lady whom I specifically stated I have this vehicle, I have the parts all I need to know is how much will you charge me to get the work done thats all. She then proceeded to state that Oh we dont usually do the work if you have the parts because 1. Our mechanics dont get paid the same(Or something along those lines. Not quite sure what she meant) and 2. Because they couldnt provide warranty on the work done if something were to happen. After she stated that I took it as they simply didnt want to take the job which was fine I wouldnt have been offended I understand. However, she then states no problem tho I will get you the quote on how much labor will be. I then asked okay how much would it be if you guys do all the work WITH parts and labor. I told her I can return the parts and just have them do everything. She said oh well Ill just text you the quote for the labor so I dont have to put together to different price quotes. I was like okay then why bring up the parts issue up in the beginning then. So then I waited the entire day and I received no text. I call after hours I didnt notice what time they close and the machine said to leave a voicemail and someone will get back to you. I left a voicemail and regardless never heard back from anyone. If there is problem with someone providing their own parts then just simple say You know what we dont take on the work if provide your own parts etc than that would be the end of it. But dont give me some spiel about why you dont usually do the work etc and then promise to send me a text with the quote and not follow thru. The only reason why I considered to drive an hour to this place is because of Legit Street Cars YouTube channel and how he promotes these guys and their quality work and because a Toyota dealership want to charge me an astronomical price to do the work.

I stopped by for a PPI and they did a phenomenal job. My experience was really good. Came with a bunch of pictures and knew exactly what I was getting myself into. Got to see a lot of beautiful cars as well.

Excellent, professional service at lower cost than the dealership! I have used them several times for service on my BMW 535i and have always been well served and greatly satisfied. They provide a thorough and transparent diagnosis and a quick turnaround on the repair. I initially went there on a recommendation from another auto service workshop and now I have recommended them to many of my friends. You should check out the stable of luxury and exoticCars they service. It’s clear they have an excellent reputation, which is well-deserved!

My brother and sister in law are having twins tomorrow. They needed an oil change but fluidmotor had no availability. When they told them why they needed one right away, fluidmotor got them in immediately. Fluidmotor spent a long time doing a full inspection and oil change and took amazing care of my brother and his car. My family has known this business since they were a smaller shop in Plainfield and they have always taken incredible care of us and our vehicles. The people here are genuinely good, kind people and also know cars better than anyone! We cannot recommend them enough.

My BMW M5 had never run quite right. I took it to several mechanics to diagnose the problem which wasn’t showing up in an engine code with no solution. Fluid Motor Union took the time to fix the difficult problem. My car works better than it ever has! They were methodical and thorough and gave me confidence that my car (that I’m slightly obsessive about) was in good hands. There were no new scratches on the paint or soil on the interior. Excellent VW ServiceI had to do a Tranmission service on my 17 Passat R line and the dealer told me that the service only included 3 quarts of oil and no filter change. They were asking close to $300 for 3 quarts of oil and labor. If I wanted to change the filter I had to pay an extra 2 hours of labor plus parts. Marylin at FMU did a no hassle service with full Tranmission flush and new filter with gaskets for 40% less than the dealer and on top of that they ran full diagnostics to make sure there were no gremlins in the car. The result was a really smooth shifting car and my gratitude. FMU is a straight shooter, they always provide with real advice on things going on with my car and the never will sell you something you don’t need. They always are there to tell you what is urgent and what can wait.excellent service and they excel at technology! I got everything done via text. Talk about contactless service, Marylin knows a thing or two about that.

I’ve have used Fluid Motor Union for nearly a decade now. They’ve always taken care of my maintenance & service work from my BMW SAV to my Toyota 4 Runner. Very trustworthy & honest team they have. They always inform you on what one may need to prioritize for repairs or what things can wait for a later date. Very Impressed with Fluid’s digital Multi Point Inspection PDF they send you. This is the most comprehensive platform I’ve seen from a Service shop “hands down”. Digital Inspection report is very visual & easy to follow, lets one know where the health of your vehicle is really at. Also providing photo documentation with explanations. This new Service platform is definitely raising the bar!

Honestly disappointed. I had an issue with my transmission, and my car had to be towed here. I was told on the phone that it was $142 to diagnose the problem, however if I chose to have the issue fixed there I wouldn’t have to pay this fee. They called me the next day and explained they are just going to flush the transmission and replace the fluid and hope for the best. Fast forward two days later and they call and said that while it appears that it’s working fine now they don’t know how much damage there could be. And I’m grateful thats all it was. I paid the bill and went on my way. The following day I was looking at my receipt and I got charged for the diagnostic fee that they said would be waived if the issue was fixed there. I called and tried talking to them and at first they said “flushing it wasn’t a repair”. Then I was told well transmission fluid is expensive. I explained yeah I know I paid a separate $80 for that. Well it took time to do it. Well yeah I paid $105 for the labor of doing that. I would just like a refund of my $142 that I was told I wouldn’t have to pay and they should explain to people that there is an obvious minimum amount they have in mind of what you need to spend to have that fee waived.Update: was told to reach out. I reached out via email and never received a response. I figured since calling didn’t bring any result last time I would email.

First, let me start by explaining that I never, ever rate 5 stars because I believe there is always room for improvement any this 4 star rating is an average of my total FMU experience. I also, rarely, ever write any type of reviews, but I believe credit needs to be given where credit is due. Would I bring my vehicle back for service? Yes.That being said:My 2012 Audi R8 V8 had major slippage, did days of research, found FMU, read good and bad on the internet, saw FMUs Youtube channel which gave me confidence to call them. They accepted my vehicle on a Saturday, April 7.First impressions: The shop if very big, very clean, OJ (owner) and Marilynn (OJs mother) are very friendly and my questions and concerns were answered satisfactory (unlike many places here in the city where one is greeted with attitude and are unprofessional in general). The mechanical expertise is apparent through the cars that were receiving service, the quality of lift systems and the work areas.The diagnosis was completed on April 10, and I received the estimate on April 11th for a clutch replacement. I agreed to the estimate, even though on the higher end; however, bearings and other parts which often go overlooked by low-budget shops were included in the estimate.During the repair, I spoke to Chris (I believe service manager) for an update. I further had a straight-pipe exhaust which is too loud for my area and wanted my OEM muffler swapped. Chris said it would be even swap, no charge.Car was ready for on April 30th and when I picked the car up, it sounded so much better! The car was clean in and out, not one greasy finger print anywhere. They even cleaned my old straight-pipe exhaust and bagged it for me. It must have taken at least a couple hours to clean all of the carbon off.Final bill was slightly over the estimated cost and it took longer than expected for the shop to get the parts delivered (but that could be for a variety of reasons). I took the car for a long drive this past weekend to bed the clutch properly and let me tell you...the car drives amazing! As I was driving, I told myself, You definitely get what you pay for. So far, so good and I hope it stays that way for many more miles to come.Daniel G.Chicago

I think most other shops would have been happy to sell me new brakes whether I needed them or not but Marilyn and OJ have always been honest with me, even at their own expense.

I’ve been going to Fluid Motor Union for over 5 years now. I purchased a Fisker Karma and i was freaking out because i couldn’t find a near by Fisker dealer. Luckily these guys can fix anything haha! Worst shop I have used in a while. Was quoted one price and when it came to pay they try to charge me 3 times as much. They wouldn’t release my vehicle without paying. Gonna go to better business bureau and file a complaint. They respond to every bad review the same way as if every customer does not exist and try to play the “we don’t have you on record game”. I hope this place goes under. Just terrible service all around.

My car had hit a curb and needed an alignment. I called and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. The facility is top notch with best customer service. I dont have a Ferrari or the Lamborghinis that they usually work on but they treated my car just as such.Quick turn around and not over charged like many other mechanical locations. I cant recommend fluid more than I already do. Go to them and they will take care of you like youre royalty.

When I bought my Maserati Granturismo a year ago I had Fluid MotorUnion inspect it top to bottom and discovered that the valve cover gaskets were seeping. They said eventually I would have to have them replaced when they start to leak down. Well a year later I smelled oil burning and called them. Got me in next day, they communicated with my aftermarket warranty and got everything covered by them. My only cost was a drive belt they discovered needed replacement that I actually knew about but forgot to tell them and they found it anyways. I won’t take my Maserati or my wife’s Porsche Macan anywhere else.

I am truly disappointed in this place. I had so much expectations for this place and wanted to bring mine and my spouses car for some miscellaneous work. From reading the reviews, we thought it would be a reputable place. We were terribly wrong and the reviews on here are so inaccurate. These people dont treat customers well. They DO NOT take accountability for their mistakes when they mess up the work that the car was brought in for. They are definitely excellent and fast at placing the blame on the customer as if we are the experts instead of them (being the mechanics). So i suggest that everyone approach with caution and at your own expense. If they screw up the work and your car, youre responsible for all of it including all (and additional) payments for them touching it. I highly recommend some other business if you want your car in the condition you currently have it in. Trust me. We are so glad we did not let them touch any of our cars and we will be taking our service elsewhere!!!!Completely unprofessional service, total lack of knowledge, lack of ability in informing customer of all outcomes possible (this arises with their lack of knowledge as a mechanic) and inability to take accountability.

I have been bringing my cars here for years for service and modifications and couldnt be happier. They do fast and thorough repair work when necessary with very reasonable pricing. I have brought an R8 and a Huracan to them for exhausts, both of which have been some of the best sounding exhausts my friends and I have ever heard. I honestly wouldnt take any of my cars anywhere else. My cars are always clean and the work is always professional. Never had a problem and great customer service. Also, they have the best prices around by a long shot. I 100% recommend taking your car there, you wont be disappointed.

Their new shop is top notch. They do such great work too. Their fabrication even on simple things have such a high attention to detail, I have yet to find another shop that does such great work.

These guys know what theyre doing and theyre really trustworthy. I brought my car in about a year ago for multiple issues. They fixed the immediate problem and told me of other things they found that really needed fixed. What I really liked about them is that they were very honest with me and told me I could fix the other issues but since my car was really old it might be better to just run it out and start looking for a new vehicle. Theyre the first repair shop Ive ever been to that didnt just try to sell the repairs but openly discuss the pros and cons of the repairs and actually suggest not doing some things. Ive been going back for oil changes ever since and love the service.
