Excellent service! We dropped off the bike and 4 hours later it was ready. He did a quick diagnosis when we dropped it off and determined that he had the replacement derailleur in stock. Very fair pricing also. Almost forgot...he adjusted the brakes that I kept forgetting about.

As an avid cycler, I ride 5-6 days a week - I needed some repairs and decided to have my bike tuned up as well, so I stopped in at Island Bike Shop at the Shops at Hammock Cove - helpful, accommodating, professional, affordable, and amazingly fast - I was so very impressed and grateful - I highly recommend them. I wont go back. I called them and told them that I wanted to fix the brake rub on both my wheels, and that it may require them changing the rotors. The attendant said each brake service is $15, and each rotor costs between $10-$15, so the total would be between $50-$60 plus tax. I took them the bike. When it was finished, the bill was $120. I told the attendant that this price was not what they quoted. I calmly told him I was not happy that they told me one thing and charged me another, but he was not inclined to do anything about it. The attendant said there was no way anyone would have told me that the rotors were $10-$15 and that I was lucky to get it at the price of $120 because those disc brake rotors are so expensive. I took the bike home and noticed that I still had some brake rub, so they didnt fix the problem, though it had been greatly improved. Second, I checked Amazon, and the rotors were $12 for the back and $18 for the front. So, the first attendants price was not outlandish or absurd as was suggested. They ended up charging me $55 and $60 respectively for the rotors. Thats not my main grievance though. They can charge what they want or need to charge to be profitable, but its unfair to customers to quote one price and charge another.

I had good experience with the people at Island Bike Shop. I had a jogging stroller that needed new intertubes and air and they fixed it the same day. It was worth the money for me because it saved me a lot of time and headache! I will definitely come back with any other bike needs. Thanks again!

Stay away from this bike shop, try Bike Route or Western Bike instead. I called looking for bottom bracket bearings for my CH-46. It uses ¼” 11-ball retainer ring. The bike tech assured me they had them but told me to bring my old ones along. I had checked at Western and they told me they only had 9-ball but in multiple sizes, Bike Route told me they had the 11-ball. Island bike was on my way to my friends garage where I would service my bike. When I got to Island Bike and ask the Bike Tech for a pair of ¼” 11-ball retainer rings, he asks me for the old ones, there in the bike. Turns out he doesn’t have any 11-ball rings, he wanted to sell me 9-ball rings that would have the same diameter. They might work in an emergency but they’re not the same. Based on his response wouldn’t trust them to do any service work, they’ll likely use any part that might fit and most people wouldn’t know. Stay away for them.

I get my bike fixed here quite often mostly tires they do good work at a fair price
