Called this morning for a same day NY state inspection, got an appointment easily. Greeted by friendly staff who got me in and out of there! Great experience!

RICH IS BACK!! This is a 4/5 star place with Rich in charge. If he is not there, for the short time he was gone it was 1 to 2 stars at best. I feel very comfortable recommending this place now that he is back, but please read the rest of this review.Place has new staff all the time. I was dealing with the manager(Scott) at the time. I need some work done to have my car pass inspection, they told me. I had them do over $xxxx of work and they cant inspect it now because everyone, including the manager quit they told me. Dont even know if i needed the work done. This place is a scam from my experience. I will say when Rich the old manager was there, this place was on point. Now it is garbage and I believe they are scamming people with work they really dont need on the trust that Rich built. I would only go back if Rich was there!!!!! P.S. they told me my brakes needed to be done a.s.a.p just like a previous reviewer. Except I had them do the work and then they came back with more stuff and more stuff after that.

Manager was amazing! Professional and took the time to explain the issue and solution. Very appreciative and will be back. Highly recommended!

Rich Definitely cares...Went above and beyond my expectations

EDIT 10/30/21I spoke with Rich today and he assured me that Scott has been dealt with and he (Rich) is in charge again. While I still don’t like how Scott handled things, I am very relieved that Rich is back and I take back my comments about never returning. As long as Rich is the manager, this store will be my first choice for an oil change. Free entertainment while you wait is never a bad thing!I always had great experiences the handful of times Rich was the store manager but Scott left a very bad taste in my mouth. Sure he was friendly but I was instantly a little suspicious when he said Toyotas usually only last 110k miles and it was surprising mine is at almost 130k. I was willing to chalk it up to personal bad experiences with Toyotas but when he tried to say my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced ASAP, that’s when I really started to doubt his alleged “complete honesty”. I’m no expert so I scheduled a second opinion with my garage but I felt like my brakes were fine. My garage has a tendency to take people back into the service bay to show them what’s up to prove they aren’t trying to make needless repairs and this time, I was shown that my brakes were almost brand new. I get that corporate might be putting the pressure on to upsell services but to actively try and do this just because of the stereotype that women don’t know anything about cars has me furious, especially when I overheard Scott telling multiple other customers he preferred complete honesty so he could keep his customers. Well he lost me as a customer and I will tell everyone I know not to go there either.

Rich is a good dude. Called him up and he got me right in for an oil change that was over due. Chill and knowledgeable guy. Definitely be coming back.

Went in to replace a tire I thought was no good. They found a screw in it, and instead of just selling me the more expensive tire they offered to patch the one I had instead, guaranteed for the life of the tire (and it still has a lot of tread left.) Their honesty saved me around $100.

Manager was very nice and gave me a discount on my oil change without adking

I brought my fiancé’s Jeep Renegade in for an estimate on breaks and rotors and they were so nice and explained everything to me, showed me how bad it was once the tires were off, and guaranteed it would be done today so I told them to go ahead and do it. The price I was quoted never changed and they had it done with plenty of time to spare. Any future services for our vehicles will be done here! They are an amazing team!

I have been going to Monro for YEARS... And Ill tell you something... That store manger Kevin that works in the Newark store is just a PHENOMENAL person!! He truly goes above and beyond and truly cares about his customers!! Every time I have went there he has made sure I had gotten everything I had expected and then some... Hes honest, straight forward, kind, caring, and compassionate!! I ABSOLUTELY would recommend This store!!!

This location stays open longer than other shops in the area even during Covid-19, which is wonderful. Kevin & George were able to fit me in with such short notice on a car I was looking to purchase. They were fast, friendly, and honest. Would definitely recommend.

Very expensive to get a oil change but they were able to do it while I waited. That was the best part.

Since Ive been dealing Rich and now Kevin is in the store feeling comfortable with who is working on my cars consistently at an all time high. Rich was great and Kevin keeps that going. Iv used the monro muffler over in Newark NY location for many years since I moved out this way 6 years ago. Usually just oil changes and basic things and for the most part no complaints but then today I had to get tires balanced when I made the appointment I asked how long would it take then I was told about a half hour, so I had to make the appointment alittle earlier to make sure I was home in time to get my kids for my wife to get the work. So I waited around for about an hour and 10 minutes so I asked the guy hey how much longer is it going to be I need to get going, I was waiting just outside the front door when I asked as he was walking back in he said he would go check. I waited another 8-10 minutes he didn’t come back out to let me know how much longer so I saw him at the front desk so I walked in to check in and he was on the phone ordering a pizza so he walked back into the shop when I entered to finish his phone call then after words came back and said he’s finishing up the truck now. So finally got the truck about hour and half after. All that was annoying for sure but if no other issues I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing a review so I live about 5 miles away from the shop so on my drive home I was feeling a vibration and a couple times on turns was hearing a knocking sound so I got home looked at the tires and on the one wheel all the lug nuts weren’t even hand tight. With just my fingers I was able to get several turns on them before even jacking the truck up where I was able to get several more turns on them (took a video of it while doing it). Then went around to all the other tires and 2 of the centering rings on my rims were bent and the third one was missing all together. So I called the shop he didn’t really say much other then that his tech told him the one ring was already missing which i know it wasn’t because I just ordered them a couple weeks before and installed them myself and of course he didn’t say anything about one missing when I was at the shop. So now I have a call into corporate so I will update once I hear from them. But long story short I would be careful taking your vehicle there for anything other then an oil change if they can’t manage to tighten the bolts on a tire who knows what else they don’t tighten down.

I’ve come to this store multiple times for inspections and oil changes, and everyone is always friendly and my car is done quickly. I usually have my toddler in tow and he’s always welcomed to play around while we wait and the guys are always so nice to him. Great experiences!

I booked an appointment online for a state inspection, but when I went in, the gentleman at the desk said he didnt see my appointment in the system. He was able to do my inspection right away, even though my appointment didnt go through! Thank you so much for the great service!

Rich and his limited staff do a great job. His customer service is among the very best Ive ever encountered. They kept me updated on the progress of my brake job and didnt try to up sell me on things that I didnt need. I have been coming to this Monro for many years, and this crew is one of the most professional Ive encountered. I will be telling others about this shop. Hopefully they can get more workers as they are working short handed, but still do a great job.

I’ve always gone to firestone for years, and after always trying to be taken advantage of I started going to Monroe. Since Kevin has taken over I have been so happy every time I leave. Whether it’s an oil change, a tire rotation or getting repairs I’m always told exactly what I’m paying for and only what’s needed. Such a friendly guy and definitely recommend for anyone needing any type of work done!

I went in for an oil change and an inspection. The team there made a point to get me in as late as possible to accommodate my work schedule. The new manger I believe his name is Rich was amazing. I’ve been going to Monro for years for my oil changes, inspections, and new tires and this manager by far is the best. We were chatting as they were finishing up my car and I was telling himthe horror stories I’ve had at this specific location with the old managers. He was shocked to learn that after breaking my tire pressure sensor, the old manager didn’t have them reset the new sensor they put in so that the light wouldn’t be flashing in my car. The old manager told me I would have to go to ford to have them “fix it”. After learning this he immediately got to work to see if he could reset the senor they put in there. He couldn’t with the time they had left, but Rich didn’t want me to have to deal with the problem anymore so he set an appointment for me to come back in next week so he could replace the senor at no charge to me. As I was wrapping things up he was having me sign my paper work and stated that he felt awful that I received such awful service under the last manager that he waived the fee for both my inspection and my oil change. I couldn’t be more happier with the service I received today. Monro should be happy to finally have a manager that 1. Knows what they are doing 2. Cares about the customer 3. Goes above and beyond for the customer. Thanks again to the staff at Monro!

SHOPPER BEWARE!!!My wife brought her vehicle to this location for an expensive engine repair. In connection with the repair, an engine hose was not properly reconnected. This caused engine damage. Thats fine, it happens.However, per the warranty, my wife had the vehicle towed to the nearest company location to inspect the problem. That location advised us that their location did not handle such repairs and that the vehicle would be towed to the Newark location for further inspection.Its been almost TWO WEEKS and the car has not been towed, and absolutely nothing has been done to the vehicle. When contacted, neither the Newark location or the corporate office will provide any useful information, other than we are having the vehicle towed to Newark, and we will call you back with more information. Said promises of a call back have never been fulfilled. Meanwhile, my wife is without a vehicle and has suffered all of the mounting expenses and inconveniences associated.

After making a mistake and coming in a day early for an oil change and wheel balance, Rich was gracious enough to take my car in today. I am always greeted with friendly and personable staff. I continue to bring my car here for all of my automobile needs! Thank you!!!

Aesthetic upgrades continue to improve. Started going here consistently under previous managment, but Rich has greatly improved the customer service aspect. Going in today for an oil change, I was greeted walking through the door, by name, service was started and completed in a timely manner. Took my dart in to have a flow master kit installed, and bubba hooked me up. Dropped the car off the night before and he came in on his day off to get it done by noon the next day. It’s sounds awesome. My wife also gets her regular maintenance done here. All the guys are really cool.

Needed an oil change and NYS inspection. In and out on time. Very pleased. However, 3 days later, I realized the tech had not reset the computer after the oil change. Fortunately, my owners manual had the procedure.

My family and I have been dealing with Rich the past several months and he has always come through for us, we have had no issues with the work, we are so happy he took over at this location! We continue bringing our business to him and we highly recommend this Monro in Newark!

I would never go back!! I had the worst experience at the Newark Monroe Muffler. The manager was rude and the service wasn’t for the price. Not to mention, during this PANDEMIC, no one was wearing a mask. Not even the MANAGER at the front desk!! Disgusting!!

I brought my 2015 Ford Focus SE sedan in for an oil change and tire rotation yesterday. I was blown away that the mechanics are actually honest, fair and reliable! For only $16.19, Ill definitely be back. I certainly dont mind the long drive to Newark.

Great service on such short notice! Back brakes and rotors had to be changed asap and on Christmas Eve, none the less. They got me in with no problem. :)

Got an inspection which fixed the remaining problems, including specifically my rear brakes. My front brakes were fine. My back brakes were not great, but passing; and I got a new tie rod plus some etc/other stuff... But after pulling my E-brake, it got stuck, and in checking it, the inspector missed that it was still stuck on. As explained by my dad, my not having any sign of the problem except not great rear beakes, which I immediately started saving up for a buffer with my current funds. But no they are destroyed; the shoes, the cylinder, the drum, etc. I finally discovered the forced malfunction in the middle of 390N. How the hell do you leave a customers brakes on E-brake, while the car still drives fine, no notice or anything?. A month later I have no brakes at all and pull off--thank God safely. Livid.

Im so happy, these guys went above and beyond the call of duty and fixed my car even though it gave them trouble...I appreciate you guys

The staff at the Monroe Auto Center in Newark, NY are professional and still able to have a conversation and get to know their customers by name. I appreciate that everything is explained so that a non mechanic can understand it. When they recommend other work to be done, I do not feel pressured.

They do excellent service for fairly low cost. Service can be had without prior appointment. Staff are friendly and professional and personal and provide services as fast as possible.

If I could give a ZERO I would! I have never been more disappointed in an auto repair shop in my entire life (62 years)! They (Monro Muffler in Newark, NY) had my car for four weeks and after spending over $700.00 dollars I finally got tired of their excuses! But by then my car was in worse shape than when I brought it in and I had to have it TOWED to another auto repair shop! I CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES, I SENT MULTIPLE EMAILS!!! NOTHING. WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT GO TO MONRO MUFFLER!

Came in tonight and Rich was AMAZING!!! He has extremely knowledgeable and helpful!!! He has definitely made a lasting customer!!! Thank you so much for helping to keep my family and me safe!!!

Unfortunately I cant give less than one star. Have reliably brought my vehicles here through SEVERAL managers and got a pretty straight deal, however brought my minivan in for an inspection and was told it was good to go with 2 exceptions, brought it in today and no it all of the sudden wont pass to the tune of upwards of $3000. Manager took me out to show me a brake line leak and showed me the leak, on a disconnected line..... Will never come here again.

Very poor service! Dropped off our truck for an oil change and an inspection to a girl at the front desk for an apt we had made at 2. Came back at 4:30, they had forgotten about the truck and said it’d be another half hour. We came back an hour later (thinking it’d be plenty of time) and of course nope, just doing the oil change and still needed to inspect it. So for an apt we had at 2, we finally rolled out at 5:45 and missed an event that we had planned for weeks tonight thanks to their lack of professionalism. So ridiculous and not even an “I’m sry!”

Do not go here they will overcharge for repairs you dont need.I knew my car needed some work but they were excessive and false. It was the first time I took my 174k miles beater in for service. They told me both front springs were broke and both front brakes needed to be done. I did the work myself with a friend. Granted the springs were rusted but they were NOT broken. Now the brakes, ONLY the driver front side needed to be done due to the caliper not retracting, the passenger side was barely worn. They also recommended an alignment, for what I dont know, the alignment was and still is perfect. Their quote was $1200, I did the work for $200 counting the hundred I gave my friend for the help and use of tools. To top it off they missed the 3 bulbs that needed to be replaced.

They were all nice and polite and have excellent service they were fast and did a awesome job repairing my truck
