One of my favorite places to get Jamaican food from. Reasonable prices and plenty of food though the consistency of fullness of the plate also depends on who’s working at the moment but regardless, great food at such a great price. One large plate can easily feed 2 adults plus their jerk chicken never disappoints! Delicious mac and cheese too.

Horrible, disgusting and cold. Curry chicken wasn’t cooked all the way. Baked macaroni and cheese. I don’t even know why they call it that. No where near baked macaroni and cheese. Just really disgusted. I would give this a zero if I could.

I ordered jerk chicken and I got bake chicken with supposedly jerk chicken gravy. What a mistake. You couldnt taste no jamaican season. The young cashier was amazing. The older lady that serve the food was grumpy and mean. I will never go back there nor recommend this place to anyone.

I went today. Me and my kids. We ordered 5 meals.. And swiped a credit card. I asked if the card went through and the lady started mumbling under her breath Rude comments. Her attitude turned nasty. I wont be going back. Food is good but customer service is terrible. Somebody should tell them we dont act like that over here🙄🙄🙄

Probably the best Jamaican food within 100 miles.If you have thick skin, you can tolerate the stoic faces of the ladies but theyll warm up to you if you give them respect first.Oxtail is phenomenal, goat is cosmic, and the jerk chicken is like being on the islands7/21 Been eating from here for about a year now and its still just as good food, if not better!

Servings are more than adequate. This place is great. The shop isnt big but you can surely find a few authentic Caribbean treats.

I ordered A beef patty with coco bread. I didn’t get the coco bread. I also ordered a veggie plate with oxtail sauce, I didn’t get ay sauce on my rice. Im kind of bummed because I had my mouth fixed on it.

I called to place my order, when I got there the place was empty but my order want made. I placed my order inside the store. The price of the food has jumped up outrageously . A large dinner was $9.99 before. I bought two large dinners and now its $34. Plus on top of that you get way less food. This place is not even worth it anymore . I asked for gravy on my rice and got home and no gravy. The prices are to high, less food, they dont fix your order when you call in, slightly rude. Not as friendly as before. No one smiling. They talk to each other about personal things instead of focusing on the customers . This place is falling apart and Im going to have to start going to a different Jamaican restaurant.

The food is great and for a great price. In my opinion the best in the area. The ackee and saltfish is perfectly cooked and not too salty like other places.

I had to change my rating to five stars from three, I gave it three because theres a server there that always gives me attitude but the food is so good and authentic I cant let that discourage me, love the food.

Visited for the first time yesterday. The food was so good I HAD to come back today. Oxtails are super tender and flavorful. The fried dumplings were perfect. They have their food out early so it’s perfect for stopping in and grabbing a quick meal for later. The menu is extensive and the staff were friendly. Ignore the posts about rudeness. Come on in and enjoy. Cowfoot soup on Wednesday!!!!!

Love this place, dinner and groceries all in one! And the selections are huge for a Hispanic grocery.

Great selection of hard to get items, their meats are always fresh, and the butchers go out their way to customize each order.

Staff are a bit quiet but are really heart melting once you respond after they engage you, the foods are is really good, the chef occasionally comes out to ask hows the food and if you good, its easy to shop prices arent always the lowest but once you get good quality food its worth it.

I love to support my West Indian people. But enough is enough. We ordered a large oxtail meal and a small curry goat meal. The oxtail meal had three oxtail and curry goat meal had about 4 chunks of curry goat. Our meal came up to 32 dollars for nothing. This place is going down hill fast.

Ive had the worst customer experience today at MP International as of 8/21/21 my experience included employees laughing at me having to wait an hour plus for food that I did not receive to make matters so bad Ive been coming here for 5 years being treated poorly by employees but today topped it because you shouldnt have to feel like your service is not wanted here and I think I heard one employee mutter Dont come back here I really hope a manager sees this and take action cause Im not the only person who feels this way.

Patties are good, prices are great, jerk pork could be better, will definitely try other items on the menu and see how good they are. I like this place and will keep coming back. I like that its not just the restaurant portion but you can also do some grocery shopping. Not too many regular stores have real curry or real jerk seasoning, so I love that I can get that here.

I have been to both the norfolk MPs and the Newport News MPs. As you already know the norfolk MPs is way better and a little more organized but this one isnt bad either. The jerk chicken is moist spicy and flavorful, the cabbage is good and the rice and peas get the job done. I would say that the best jamaican in Newport News/ Yorktown is mystic jamaican but if you have the time and energy make your way out to norfolk to get some delicious jamaican food from the MPs in that area!

I would give this place zero star if I could‼️ their customer service is seriously lacking and the two ladies behind the counter is very rude you don’t expect someone to spend their money somewhere where you feel like you cannot be addressed accordingly I just want to say management needs to do something about this because they will continue to lose business I went there to buy some thing and there is no pricing so I asked how much is the item I was told it’s either this price or that price now when I get to the front I ask can you please check the price for this item she had the audacity to tell me I already told you it’s this or that that is not the way you speak to someone let alone a paying customer I am spending my hard earned money so therefore I don’t see the issue in me wanting to know the price for an item that I want to purchase I can say this I will not be going back there to purchase anything. I don’t get the food because it’s not very good in my opinion, but I love the market side of it. You can find a lot of great island products to cook your Caribbean recipes at home. Staff isn’t that friendly but I’m used to that...

Love this place! They have a great selection and even a restaurant type environment in the building. They carry fresh produce and meats, fresh cooked food, and also grocery products. They sell many things catered to a carribean taste. They even do international shipping to Kingston, Belize, and other places! And the barrels are cheap too!! MP is a little slice of home here locally if you dont have a chance to travel back to the islands too often!! Im a customer for life now!!

Today I visited MPs because I was craving oxtails and plantains. Unfortunately upon arrival the oxtails wasnt available. This was my first time at the Newport News location. The lady serving the food had a horrible attitude. Her aura was off and I couldnt hear a word she was saying when I asked about the food. Im willing to bet they smile whenever a white customer walk in and greet them with kindness. I rather google the recipes and make the food myself. Its ridiculous how their customer service is.However the food was delicious I may add.

The food here is good and I want so badly to support my caribbean people but I will NOT put up with TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE anywhere that I spend my hard earned money. Everyone behind the counter needs customer service training. Owner must learn to appreciate his customers. The ladies behind the counter are so rude and disrespectful. Being rude is NOT a cultural thing so dont blame the culture....YOU JUST RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. PERIOD! DO BETTER!!!

My husband was just in Newport News location. Oxtail was in the case for $8.99 but they said it was$10.99 and refused to honor the price they had on the case....Then they removed the price....who does that!!!!Terrible customer service.

The food is great, customer service needs work. I called to place a To-Go order and was place on hold for 10 minutes which is unacceptable, so I hung up and called back and I’m still on hold yet again for more then 10 minutes !! At some point customer service skills are supposed to improve, it seems like from the reviews you can say the food is great but customer service is poor.

I would easily give this restaurant 5 stars if the customer service was better. There are elements within the female staff that are rude, especially to female customers, and borderline obnoxious. Its a shame that the tragically cliche attitudes and indecency of the staff is hindering a superior product.Update. Went in today for lunch to an attitude because I asked a woman with a accent and a mask on to repeat her question. While I was paying for my food, another woman comes by and clearly says idiot. Make sure you put this on your list of must-try places to get something to eat you wont be disappointed..

Usually my oxtail here is prepared perfectly so it falls right off the bone. This last time I went it was not. However, this is still one of the best places around to get your prepared oxtails and curries. They have a large selection of island drinks and goodies! The price is pretty high, but not so astronomical to keep me away yet when I get my Caribbean cravings.

MP International is a great find! The food is always delicious, warm, and FULL of flavor. There are multiple choices at the food window, the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. If you like this style of food, you must give them a try. They run a great grocery with island items you cant find anywhere, fresh seafood, and the attached restaurant is one I strongly recommend. The attached photo is lunch (small) portion. Jerk chicken, cabbage and mac & cheese. You order at the hot food bar, then pay at the register. I believe the restaurant part is now taking cash only.

Stopped in for lunch with colleagues. The lunch deal is amazing for the price. You get your choice of chicken, two sides, and a drink for $5. The portion sizes are generous, and I had leftovers to enjoy later. If I get the opportunity to stop in again I absolutely will.

Great place! You can find a lot of food that you normally cant find anywhere else. Staff is a bit prickly, and about 2/5 of the prices are only known at the register, but theyre reasonable.

Make sure you check your receipts because it seems they over charge you from the actual total. Other than that it’s okay to shop because my husband’s Jamaican so he likes to get his seasonings and spices from there. But the food..... nah I’ll pass I’d rather eat my husband’s cooking. Oh and customer service is horrible they act as if somebody owes them something or people are beneath them.

Good spot when you cant get to the better MP Island Cafe in Norfolk. Curry and stew chicken are normally pretty good. Jerk chicken is good when not overcooked or dried out from sitting under lamps. Cabbage and Mac are good sides to choose.

Food is ok. The STAFF ARE VERY RUDE....The women there need customer service training SERIOUSLY. I will go to Palm Tree Caribbean spot from now on. PALM TREE IN HAMPTON VA IS THE BEST. THE FOOD IS GREAT AND THEY ARE NICE AND RESPECTFUL.

This place has great food. Its excellent and its operated by people that are actually from the Island. They are friendly and helpful as well as patient with customers who arent familiar with Caribbean food. Their grocery side appeared well stocked and they also sell fresh produce and toiletries.
