Very very friendly workers. Great cashiers and baggers. Lenny is the star of this store. He is always happy and always says hello. He brings a positive attitude and joy to people. Makes shopping there enjoyable. Store is always stocked with the current holiday supplies. Front desk Employee older woman longer white hair she is always polite and smiling. Can not remember her name. Bigy in Northampton Massachusetts is a must for a enjoyable shopping day. Enjoy.

Not happy with Big Y. Ive been out of the area for several years and when I came back and shopped at Big Y I noticed they started charging people for grocery bags. That wasnt to much of a problem for me but the lady next to me was using EBT and only had food stamps per say. She had no money for bags and told me she would have to just load her groceries in the car unbagged because she had no actual money/change to buy bags.I gave her a dollar bill so she wouldnt have to do that. Big Y is that hard up for money....I kinda doubt it!!!Shame on you Big Y!!!!Ill go to Stop & Shop from now on. Well not totally true, I still go there for my cooked meatloaf...but thats it!

This was the nicest Big Y I have been to. Safety precautions started with hand sanitizer outside on a table. The store itself was beautiful. Great selection as well. My family ordered grinders, David was his name, very polite, did a great job at making our meal. My husband was standing back a few feet and he was asked if he needed anything. Great service. I was so happy to see a large dining area with napkins and hand sanitizer on all the tables. I did visit the restroom which was clean and had real flowers. I highly recommend this Big Y. Thank you for making it a great experience.

I absolutely love this Big Y location! They have an amazing variety of Organic and Locally made food options.They have a huge selection of Sushi, Fresh Sandwiches, Hot Food, a Salad Bar, an Olive Bar, Cheeses, Seafood, Meat, as well as a large variety of wine and liquor.They also have fresh flowers and plants.The only downside would be that they charge for shopping bags.

Big Y should be strongly commended for lifting their face mask and other customer restrictions in the most timely manner as allowed by Charlie Baker and Northamptons dictatorial board of health. While others around here are making up their own rules and looking for new ways to discriminate against their would-be customers, Big Y is ready to get back to the business of treating people right.

Well its your typical Big Y grocery store. I would say there sanitation level is a little higher than the Amherst Big Y for sure. I appreciate having different size options available to me. I do think that the pre-made food at this particular location is worthy of eating.

This market is kept clean all of the time. The fish and meat counter allways smells fresh and looks well organized. I especially like the sub counter. For a reasonable price, I can get a footlong sandwich which covers 2 meals for me. In addition, all of the employees provide consistently good customer service.

I am getting more and more disappointed, everyone I go in there they ripe me off. The price on the shelf is different than the price I pay. If they say its on sale its not. Check your sales slip theres always something wrong. You should not change for paper bags when you get them for free. Stop and Shop here I come.

Basically a liquor store mixed with a grocery store. I love ordering fish n chips or lobster to go. Avoid the pizza unless you love dough

Favorite supermarket. Super-clean, great selection of foods, with surprisingly good bakery, deli, florist, and sandwich areas.

Love the place and have better employees

Just had the best customer experience of my life! Its rare these days to find a manager that is sincerely dedicated to customer satisfaction and loves his job. I found that in Dominic the store manager at Big Y Northampton. I had a problem, got some lobster at the seafood market and didnt receive the level of service expected. I wasnt terribly upset, in well over 10 years shopping at this Big Y I have only had 1, maybe 2 really poor customer service experiences before this. With covid I wouldnt have even said much, I know everyone is stressed and I appreciate the fact that Big Y workers are showing up, so I could let a little attitude go, but when I returned my product the Customer Service Worker said that the Manager would really care to hear about the experience because they would want to be sure to improve. Dominic came quickly. I was shocked at his genuine concern. He looked me in the eye, gave me a legit apology and based on his demeanor it was clear to me that this person was committed to every customer having a perfect experience. Dominic then proceeded to walk me around the store explaining in detail how I could prepare the lobster. He was able to suggest a different product that would work better for me and took all the time I needed to walk me through what I needed to do to prepare it. While all of this was going on, for probably 15 minutes I felt like I was the only person in the store, Dominic gave me his full attention. I heard a quick call of his name on the speaker and even then he didnt take his attention off of me for a second. Once he was sure I knew what I needed to do he decided to do a little to make up for me having to make the trip back covering some of the product cost. He walked me to the door, wished me well and was sure to remind me to say hi next time Im in. He mentioned that he had been at this store for a few months having come from Pittsfield then Lee. Big Y is very lucky to have him, you can tell this is a company guy. He loves it, heck, right now I wish I was a Big Y store manager, he seemed so happy! And thats while working on Superbowl Sunday! I dont write a lot of reviews but I am unaccustomed to such sincere engagement with no judgement. Its only a 10 minute ride home but I had to call my wife on the way to tell her what a great experience it was. Thank you Dominic. You really made an impact on this customer and I look forward to having you at the helm of our local store!

This place is fantastic! the store is big, well organized and clean. The bakery has beautiful and delicious cakes and cupcakes. The managers Rob and Brian solve all kind of situations, give good deals and bargains, help you get things to the car, and they even load it for you. The cashiers, like Jennifer and Kyle are kind, friendly, and very helpful. Sometimes I have seen Kyle bagging groceries and he does it carefully the way you like. Bryan, at the service desk, takes care of you promptly and in a friendly manner. The store has many young employees that are all great. They have a young man at the self check out, whom I cant remember by name, who is also helpful and friendly. WOW What a team! Good Customer service is the way in this place. Thumbs up!!!!

Over priced as usual. Then they try to offer deals like buy-two-get-one-free, but all they do is Jack up the price so sometimes youre actually paying more than you would have if the item wasnt on sale. Honestly, I tried to avoid this place at all costs...

Well, cashed in some recycling cans. Gotmy receipt to cash in at the courtesy desk. Shopped a little. The went to check out. Cashier was horrible. No seperate bag or asked if I want to put my paid forexpensive Amazon Card in my pocket.Instead puts it on the top of my groceriesin my bag. I was talking to her aboutsomething being friendly conversation.The the cashier throws my activationreceipt in the bag. On the very top. Againdoesnt ask me, if I would like to hold onthe receipt or pur in bag. I had bought aBirthday card. Thats thrown in with thegroceries. What happened to putting itin a seperate bag that fits the card. If shewas out of bags. You say, Im out of bags.Not this girl (cashier). So, I thought Illcash in my ticket stubs from the recyclingcans at a different Big Y Supermarket.I just wanted to leave the store.

After purchasing grocery. I left the store heading home to Greenfield. I stopped off at Irving in S. Deerfield to get gas. Went to get wallet and it was missing. Of course I panicked thinking someone stole my wallet. Thought about for a second grab the receipt and called Big Y. Asked if a wallet was turned in. Thank The Lord it was. I evidently left it on the register. I prayed nothing was missing and that I wouldnt get pulled over cause my license was in my wallet. I give praises to the employees at this Big Y. You guys are a Blessing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Clean, well stocked, helpful friendly staff. See for yourself. Fruit and vegetable area is fresh and impressive. Fish and butcher areas stocked with high quality fresh choices. The cashier and front end staff top off my visit. I leave the store happy., buy more than came in for and always ring the bell!!

My favorite spot to shop. Most food sold is locally sources. Great selection for all types of food. Nice produce, fresh and a good price. It is a great spot. Love the beer and wine selection. The cheese counter is so very nice. They have great prices and sales as well.

They are doing an excellent job, frequent cleaning self checkout, had 2oz hand sanitizer for $2.09, had gloves, wipes, and hand sanitzer on entry. Store was pretty well stocked for a busy area. Thank you!

Avocado was a bit pricey and small. Had only one item and the express line was as long as the regular lines if not longer and people had as many item as a regular line. The young man was very nice that did end up waiting on me after 15min in the regular line. Smiled like he truly enjoyed being at work.

I went to big y today to purchase a gallon of milk..as i approached Maggie the cash register, not only was she unprofessional but she was flat out RUDE! She didn’t great me nor did she hardly acknowledge me...I swiped my card and received the receipt no thank you, or have a nice day was said from this cashier. As I walked out of big y I was CHASED by a man yelling that I didn’t purchase my milk! (Even though I had the receipt) I was brought back inside with almost every customer that’s in line starring at me. Come to find out the problem was that I didn’t press “accept” on the key pad! Maggie informed security that I STOLE a $4 gallon OF MILK! Ive been a customer of big y for 10 years now and I could not be anymore disappointed on how they handled that situation. Talk about embarrassing!! Absolutely ridiculous never will I step foot in Big y again! No thank you!

Whoever does the hiring here knows what theyre doing. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, in all departments. Staff also seems happy, which directly benefits their customers. I hear lots of locals say this same thing. Fresh food too.

I really like it because the produce is very fresh and the fruit is reliably high quality. The bread is generally good, especially the delicious smelling snowflake rolls.We buy meat and a lot of other things at Costco, but weve switched and now buy produce and bread at Big Y. Of course we get other things there too.

This big y is like the whole foods of big ys. They have a huge assortment of fresh, organic produce and cheese. The deli folks whipped up some meat and cheese platters for me in no time on last minute notice, which was awesome. The frozen food section is the perfect temperature, and the olive bar has stuffed grape leaves - so fancy! Ran into a friend next to the bacon section and we had a nice chat for half an hour or so. A++ would recommend as a catalyst for social serendipity.

Loved it until they plopped a big liquor department right in the middle of the store! Now: back and forth, back and forth. Must go down liquor isle to get soda. Bad move.

Dont come here if your skin is brown because the manager will literally follow you around into every isle and watch you. That is what happened to me yesterday. He even followed me to the parking lot after Id made my purchase :/ Might be the most uncomfortable grocery shopping experience Ive ever had. Ill definitely shop elsewhere in the future!

Normally I do like the Big Y in Northampton but I had a strange situation happen. I grabbed a single beer from the cooler which I was happy I could do. When I got to the checkout I was told its a mix and match and he cant sell me it. That seems crazy for a store that sells stuff wont sell me something. Why cant it be a mix and match OR a single can purchase. Strange...

One of the more expensive grocery stores around, base prices for most goods are inflated higher than its competition so if what you are buying is not on sale you are probably overpaying but, when the sales are on it shines. The 4 for 20 meat deals & buy 1 get 2 free deals really shine (although they do boost the base prices on sale weeks to compensate for the deals so keep a sharp eye) Its not as expensive as the Southampton, MA which had the highest prices out of all 60+ locations for years (thanks to a lack of any real competition)

Good place to shop. Staff always helpful & friendly. If you have any questions or issues you dont leave without answers or resolutions. Great meats. Try the Rib Eye.

This out off my normal route but I go here rather than S&S, which is directly across the street from my work, bc BigY, though busy, is always properly staffed to have enough cashiers to help their customers. I was told BigY pays their employees better too, though Im having a difficult time verifying that

Ive been shopping at Big Y for many years, and love it. The staff is very helpful, they have a good selection of food and other items, and have reasonable prices. I love the pizza! And the folks at the pharmacy are great.

Full supermarket, full deli, sushi bar, butcher shop and fish counter, cheese section, bakery, florist, liquor and beer isles, and take-out, eat in pizza, fish, soups, etc. The market has a great selection of regular, vegetarian, vegan, & gluten free foods. The full range of foods are extensive, the prices are average, and check-out us rarely quick. Have been at checkout several times when there are too many people w carriages waiting, and only 2-3 registers open, checkout is generally pretty slow, and a long wait...

The other day I went for pizza, it was amazing! Amanda made getting it a breeze! On my way checking out I always look for Jacob or Libby, they are two of the best employees there.

I am mad at big y because they don’t have the best drink ever they do not provide the most delicious drink! I will now tell you that the best drink ever is called REBBL (it’s a Health drink) basically a super food. Yum but oh no they just don’t provide what the customers need. Not cool - I will remember this!!!

Be sure to point out which pieces of Pizza you want in the pizza shop. I asked for two slices of a certain kind of pizza one of them was a normal size the other was probably a third of the size of the first one and I still had to pay the $2.50 but thats life. Needless to say I didnt open the box until I was already gone from the store, I was so very disappointed. If they dont know how to cut a pizza so each piece is at least close to the same size as the others they should give you a better deal on it. I learned my lesson and will never blindly ask for two slices again.

Good level of variety. Only four stats because some of the prices are on the high side. You can find better prices for dry goods next door at Walmart. The bakery and produce selection is wicked good.

I had my engagement cake made at the Bakery back in December. It was a very last minute thing and I just wanted a sheet of cake with my fiancé s and my picture and congrats and flowers or whatever. Basically I wasnt expecting much. It turned out being the most beautiful cake Ive ever purchased. They made some really beautiful flowers in the colors I wanted. The picture came out perfect they even put some sparkly edible glitter on it. They went about and beyond my expectations. I really wish I could remember the girls name. She rocks!!! Thank you so much.
