I was hoping to take this opportunity to address the owners question about why I first rated the establishment the way I did. First off, this place has a fun and really eclectic vibe to it. I can see why so many folks love it. My original rating was simply because I didnt find places within of interest to me. Please dont take what I have to say personally. Im just an average Joe who is a flea and thrift store junkie. Point 👉 me in the direction of a Goodwill, comic book store or rummage sale and Im eternally grateful. That said, Thornes is an awesome establishment, with great stores and very very clean.

Went to the cute little Chocolate shop inside, that also sells vegan chocolate and I was not disappointed! Amazing chocolate, I paid about $22 for 10 pieces of chocolate. Pricey you say, yes I know but when your vegan and want to splurge on your birthday I think its allowed! Besides Ive made my own vegan chocolate at home and its a process! Delicious, but still a process! Its called Heavenly Chocolate.

The portions of the food were good. The service and people were really nice and helpful but I found the food very generic. Its an affordable restaurant with portions which would fill you but cant expect alot of variety or taste. Silver lining there were alot of regular customers at the restaurant so looks like a quick to go for people. The ambience of the place was more like a fast food joint so wouldnt at all suggest a dine-in. Delivery and takeout friendly place.

Like a mall made by hippies and hipsters, For complete lack of a better description. Absolutely chock full of interesting small stores and boutiques - including the legendary Harels ice cream - this is the perfect spot to begin any Northampton experience. In many ways its almost like a microcosm of the town itself. In any case, its by far my favorite place to just walk and browse, particularly in the winter months when its too cold to do that outside. Just be prepared to pay a pretty penny for parking - although helpfully there is a parking garage and you dont necessarily have to track down street parking.

We enjoyed the Marketplaces unusual cafe and had Matcha and Golden milk--the most amazing selections when you dont feel like coffee. Both were lattes, well-made and delicious. Where can you find golden milk! We will be back.Since we were in the Marketplace in Northampton, we discovered the Olive Oil vendor across from the cafe, and decided to do a tasting. We were treated with such hospitality, that what started as a whim, became a purchase. We actually loved the tastings of both the oils and balsamic vinegars, and decided to take advantage of the special so we got a bargain.I opted for the fig balsamic--my fav, and for the tasting, was delighted. It isnt as sweet as the ones Ive had before, but it is acceptable. I do think I should try some others. We really enjoyed the shopping, tasting, and European feel of the whole Marketplace environment. It is a treat.

I was born in Northampton, but Ive traveled all my life. This store for the past 20 years (Im 24) has been the best store ever that Ive ever visited. The vibe, the workers, I remembered I went in during 2019 and we some candy, we were hyped, having a food time, I was visiting fam, and the fact the workers always talked to us as people, not customers, sharing jokes is a 120 steps up from NYC where Im live now. Ive always loved Thornes. I hope it stays open forever!

Thornes Marketplace is a one stop shop. The variety of stores can provide you with groceries, clothing (both men’s and women’s), home goods, gifts for any age, books, chocolates, jewelry, and even a seated massage upstairs. If you get hungry there’s a restaurant, there’s ice cream and a coffee shop with light lunch fare and snacks. That being said, there are a variety of stores and restaurants both similar and wildly unique that you may miss out on if you don’t explore the rest of downtown Northampton.

This is a great use of an old downtown building. A town-center mall packed with some of Northamptons best shops - theres even a gallery/performance space. Theres a very good coffee counter/cafe on the main floor, and a chocolatier across the way. Clothing shops, a first-rate kitchen supply store, a bargain basement store in, you know - the basement. Cornucopia whole foods grocery on the same floor is great for everything one could want for healthy/vegetarian/vegan goods, essential oils, health & beauty, supplements, herbs, flours, a dairy and dairy-free cooler, bulk goods, produce. Theres even an abundance of irresistible snacks and chocolates. This is an exceptional, locally-owned alternative to Whole Foods. Down yet another level is a wine bar. Theres also an excellent bookstore, a funky gallery, Harrells ice cream (!!), Paul & Elizabeths fine vegetarian dining, and a candy store (Captain Candy) featuring things boomers havent seen since they were kids as well as super sour candies for more contemporary tastes. Theres an elevator to make navigating the 4 floors easier for wheelchairs and strollers and metered parking behind the building. And the restrooms, once pretty dreadful, are now quite posh.

This mini Mall of an assortment of eclectic little stores goes back to when I visited Northampton in the 1970s. It is in a multi story building on Main Street and has numerous store fronts but the original buildings ceiling, (they have 4 walls and separate entrances but are open on the top a few feet short of walls top and all share the common buildings ceiling. The building just went through a $750,000.00 face lift this year. New store fronts, highly polished dark stained wood floors and new lighting as well as some new stores to reach 100% occupancy.
