It is nearly time for my annual pilgrimage from Delaware to tha House and I am so excited. Last year this time my hair was weak, brittle, and stringy no matter what I tried. I was so tired of trying marketed to our hair products that were bought out by big business so long ago formulas changed = JUNK.I went to House of Melanin and found such an amazing array of products Id never seen anywhere else, all us owned. Staff took the time to get my questions answered and i walked out excited, and honestly a bit overwhelmed, with the repair set of Mane Choice products. Forward to a year later, my coils and curls are healthy, bouncy, shiny. I have happy hair! And an even happier me! Totally worth it to have high quality ingredients appropriate for natural hair! And they last long too. Only House of Melanin gets my business from now on.

I LOVE this place! Nothing but good vibes since we came in! Walking into a store tailored FOR Black women BY a Black woman was an experience like no other, it gave me the feeling of home. I spent the entire time discussing natural hair with the owner & her mother, who were both knowledgeable about the products. The esthetic was nice along with the music, and I liked that there were informational cards to read about type 4 hair, porosity, etc. I will say tho, be prepared to spend $, youre paying for top-of-the-line hair products

We love going to this place! Since theyve opened we been regulars. The owner has fantastic products for all types of black hair. Since buying products from her store my hair has shown significant improvement and my lady loves it as well. Its great to have a black own business in Oak Park that is dedicated to black hair.

She took the time to listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and assisted me in finding the right products for my hair. I have never had that experience at a beauty supply store. House of Melanin will be my new go to. The fact it is black owned is a plus!

Finally got a chance to go in and it was a great experience. Unlike the typical beauty supply, the owner, Myeisha, provides personal service. She is also a wealth of information. Based on my personal needs she suggested a hair care method I hadnt even thought of and the appropriate products to use. A majority of her products are from black owned businesses. The store is warm, intimate, and products are well displayed. House of Melanin will be my go to for my hair needs.

Loved, loved loved this store! I would highly recommend! They have every brand of hair care products you could think of and so many ones I had never even heard of. The people in the store really care about your hair and see it as beautiful and spend time to help you choose what’s best for you! To be greeted in such a way that feels like youre among family was the first thing I noticed. Then there is the selection of products. The store is very warm and inviting. The products are exactly what I was looking for and I was asked if theres other products I use that were not available so theyre definitely trying to work with their customers. This is now my beauty supplier, no more big box or Asian stores.

Great place for information about hair. Spoke with the owner and she has superb knowledge and is very passionate about her business and role in education about hair care. I was impressed.
