Since moving to Oakland in 2013 and bicycling more regularly, Lakeview Bicycle has become the only local shop I trust. The owner, a fellow named Charlie, is honest, direct, knowledgeable and helpful. He is a no-bs kind of person. Because of that, and because hes helped me out on so many occasions, I have become his shops loyal customer. I take all my bike business to him.Frankly, I would rather travel 3 mi down to Lakeview Bicycle than go back to the shop 50 yards from me in the Laurel after multiple dealings there left me with doubting the integrity of its owner. If youre looking for a bike shop in Oakland, I recommend you also head down toward the Lake and visit Lakeview Bicycle.

Really great service. I had gone to a bunch of other bike shops to repair a broken gear, and this was the first place to be able to fix it. (It was a really simple fix, but one bike shop said we needed a whole new bike). They even fixed my broken kickstand which I had not mentioned.

I came to buy a bike but they don’t sell bikes. They could at least let that be known on their website so people don’t waste their time coming down here.

About 2:30pm on 3/16 I got an email to shelter-in-place. Took my bike which hadnt been ridden for more than 5 years to Lakeview Bicycle. The man there helped me to inflate the tires on my bike, inflated one tire for me, and showed me how to use the pump to inflate the other tire, told me to inflate them to 40 psi, which I would not have known, gave me a free valve cap after mine disintegrated in my hand due to lack of use, and fitted the chain, which had fallen off, back onto the chain ring. All for free. He wouldnt take payment even when I offered. Hes awesome! This place is the best! Go there!

Good local bike shop for basic parts and repairs. I needed some new spokes and they were able to measure and cut some fresh ones for me, which I thought was awesome. My needs tend to be more specific (not many shops carry DH parts or do DH repairs), but for small stuff Id come here for sure.

Lakeview is an accessible, neighborhood commuter bike shop. The owner, Charlie, knows whats wrong with your bike, can give quick estimates on repairs, and does great work. His mechanics are knowledgeable and the shop does great work. And Charlie smiles, too. Honestly, though, who cares?Charlie built up a great wheel for me, replaced most of my drive train (but not the parts that will make it another year) recommended the right light, and made some adjustments without complaint after I fixed my own bike.

This place is amazing. Charlie is super nice and has so much great advice to offer.

I have visited a few times for parts. The owner was very friendly. Not detached. We discussed dynamo hubs and more. He definitely knows something about bicycles. Not the young kid trying to upsell on everything. I havent tried the shop for anything unusual yet. But I have been happy so far.

Went in for a tune-up on a Monday, was promised the bike would be ready near the end of the week.Didnt get the call until the following Tuesday night. Fee was $80, and I dont seem to have gotten my moneys worth. Two miles into my first ride, my back tire came loose. Im writing this from the bus stop, as I dont trust the bike enough to finish my ride into work.Definitely gonna try my luck at one of the shops downtown next time.
