My wife and I recently purchased a used Honda Clarity plug-in from this dealership. Paris Spry was our sales rep. He was relatively new, and still learning all the details about these complex and sophisticated cars, but he’s personable, hard-working and earnest. We feel really good about the overall experience, and happy with the deal we got on our trade-in and purchase. I would definitely recommend them, and will probably go there again for our next car.
Had a great experience with Daniel Lew at Honda of Oakland. He made the process easy! For a sales person he want pushy or slick, just genuine and helpful. He was able to explain all the features of the car I was interested in and even got me the interest rate I wanted! While we were waiting for the financing we had a lovely conversation about his family and things felt like they were done efficiently. Had a great experience and now a great new (used) car!
I came to Honda to bring my car due to a recall letter regarding my airbags. When I arrived I spoke to Service Advisor Victor. Since I came to the shop a little late he advised me to come early in the morning and if I left it that day they would have kept it overnight. I arrived the next morning and took care of all my questions and got my radio to work the day prior. My car was ready around 10:30am. While the work was being performed he called me to inform me of he he had encountered during the process and thought that was very nice of him for bringing awareness to mind. Overall performance he was very professional, knowledgeable and respectful and would definitely come to him for services.
Got my new Honda Civic Sport this week! Awesome service and kind people helped me get a great deal. Had a couple hurdles they helped me navigate and off I went in my great new car. Thanks!
DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE!! MISLEADING PRACTICES!!I am writing this review to warn others of the shady business practices that are rampant at the Honda of Oakland. In Feb of this year I purchased a new vehicle from them. The salesman was personable and convinced me to add on an additional maintenance service plan. The manager of sales came around to the desk and assured I was making the right choicetires, maintenance everything will be taken care of! No headaches! Fast forward to September. My tire has a defect and I take it in to the Honda of Oakland Service (Across the street from sales) I waited for over an hour before it was my turn. I explain I had a bad tire and a service agreement. The gentleman said he just needed to confirm in the office. Another 45 minutes later he returns and explains I will simply need to pay for the labor around $35. I agree and drop my car off. The next day I get a call my car is ready and I head over and upon arrival I SIGN AN INVOICE and pay the $35 and leave. One week later I receive a call from Honda of Oakland-- there is a problem. Tires were Im fact NOT included in my service agreement, and I owed an additional $80 for the tire and I would need to go in and pay. I immediately called the sales department and left messages for the manager asking why he told me tires were included when they were not? I never received a call back and since have received multiple calls from the service department asking me to pay. I find the blatant misleading of customers not surprising but extremely upsetting. It is absolutely inexcusable to promise a price, do the job and then a week later change the price and ask for a clawback of fees. Best to avoid this dealership all together. Oh and the service department and sales department claim to not communicate should be a reg flag on all on its own. Save yourself the headache and buy from Carmax
They entertained close to KBB value of my used car when I sold it. The sales associates were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for an excellent offer and pleasure doing business with you guys. Shoutout to the acquisition specialist, Shiek Mobeen for his communication and speedy transaction.
Have been coming to the service department here for years and it has always been great. However it seems like their appointment system is totally broken. I understand that everyone is short staffed these days, but a little communication could really help make things easier. I made a 9am appointment 2 weeks ago, showed up on time, and had to wait in line outside the service center for over an hour before I could even talk to someone. Finally made it on the shuttle to head home 2.5 hours after my scheduled appointment (would still be many hours until the service would be completed.)Turns out the appointment is completely imaginary and just gives you some level of priority in the order they service whatever vehicles showed up that day. If they told me I’d be stuck sitting around for most of the morning I would have figured something else out or showed up earlier. The service person I worked with was friendly and professional and the service seemed good enough, but the appointment situation makes me hesitant to return since it’s effectively impossible to plan around the “appointment” time.
Worst experience ever! I had an appointment and arrived 30 mins early and still had to wait in line for an hour and 15mins, as the tech was writing me up she said they would need my car for four hours. I was only getting an oil change and tire rotation. Its not four hours from your appointment time btw it is four hours from your write up time. When I finally complained after four hours and said just give me my car back I can go somewhere else then they told me my car is next and it will be done shortly. An hour later I finally received my car. Never going back again! Even with a $10 coupon the service was $50 and half a days wait. Ridiculous. And this is the same place that told me I needed a new battery pre pandemic and Ive been driving my car for two years without my battery being replaced and its just fine. Steer away from this lazy money hungry lying place.
I have a 2019 Honda Accord. There was a recall on the fuel pump motor so I took my car there. I was told that the part was on backorder and I would get a letter from Honda when it came in. 2 days later I received a call from Winter Honda in Pittsburg where car was purchased to set up and appointment for part to be replaced. I was scheduled for 3 days later to allow time for part to be ordered. I took my car in and work was done. I live 5 minutes from Oakland Honda. I feel there was no effort made by them because my car was not purchased from them. I never got any followup call from them. I end up driving 30 miles away where car was purchase in order to get customer service. I will never go there again.
Love the service dept.. Not happy about the increase of cost to service my car. Car service price should not equal to car down payment...but thats what happens when new owners step in.
They are so over priced i should have learned for the second time they rake you over the coals. Last year I had to pass an inspection and some light was on so it failed. The garage said i needed to go to Honda to reset the indicator since I disclosed that it was because a failed inspection they charged $300 instead just $100. Now my catalytic converter was stolen they charge $300 just to look at it. this is CRAZY!!
This was my first visit at Honda Oakland and had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Glenn Scheffer. Not only did I receive top tier customer service, I received the car of my dreams. In fact, he went out of his way to get me everything that I wanted as quickly as possible.
I went to Honda Oakland by car or purchased it for my son who was working there the car was nice they told me they were going to fix the tail light and fix the front bumper and put the piece on that goes up under my air filter under the hood they fixed the back of the car but they didnt fix the bumper in the air filter when I went there to confront the manager about it he wouldnt come out and talk to me he sent one of the employees to come back and tell me theyre not going to fix the bumper the finance company called me and asked me did I know I was being charged for gap insurance when I was there doing the deal never talked about gap insurance I have full coverage insurance for my car so I dont understand whats going on there and its not right they should have sold me a card that was with nothing wrong with it they sent it to the body shop and they only came back with the back tail light fix they are full of s*** dont buy from there
If you’re on the market for a reliable Honda, please consider visiting to Honda Oakland and look for Eric and Hocine! They were so kind and empathetic, and looked out for me. ❤️I bought my first car today from Honda Oakland, after having so many hopeless and frustrating experiences at other dealerships all across the Bay Area, esp during COVID.Even Carl Curry (distantly related to Steph Curry 🏀!!) was so kind on the phone and dropped a note to Hocine to watch out for me before I even entered the store.Eric was extremely kind and helpful and held my hand every step of this very stressful experience of buying my FIRST EVER CAR (I’m in my late 20s). While having very little idea of the ins and outs of ownership (besides watching hours of YouTube videos and researching heavily on car websites). He also was very honest and authentic when I spoke to him about my concerns and insecurities. On top of that, Eric and Hocine stayed back to 8:30pm for me (they usually close at 6pm on Sundays) to help me through the process — and even explain some of the add-ones that confused me greatly when I was looking to finish signing. All in all, I’m writing this review at 3am in the morning because I’m so very excited to see them again tomorrow and pick up the car! 🚙 (You need to get insurance before you drive off. You can get it from them directly, if a fast turn around time is critical for you.)I’ll do an update review in a week to review any updates in on my car as the high (!!) wears off, but my experience with the team (Eric and Hochine) has been truly stellar. Thank you Honda of Oakland!
I would absolutely not recommend Honda of Oakland. The process was terrible from start to finish. I felt rushed and disrespected by the salesperson, who was manipulative and rude to my partner and me. After examining the car, we realized that the brand new car had a scratch (before it even left the shop). We were given a due bill to take to the service shop, but after leaving the car there for a couple days, we were told that it is not possible to fix the scratch there and it had to be sent to a third party body shop. The annoying part was the disconnect between people at Honda and the contrasting information we kept getting from different people. The worst offense was with the financing. We realized that we were unable to create a Honda Financial Services account about 3 weeks after we bought our vehicle, and we had to run behind finance for nearly a month trying to resolve the issue. We were given tons of promises to get a call back or that itll be dealt with in a timely manner but it never was. We involved the Sales Manager (Sam) and General Manager (George). I called George multiple times and emailed him - to no avail or response. We were extremely worried that not having an account (and therefore being unable to pay) would impact us and our credit score - we were always told it wont, but with no explanation, it was extremely hard to believe and an incredibly stressful month. Please check out other Honda locations before coming here. Honda SF, Honda El Cerrito, and Honda Marin all had better customer service. While the deal was good, it was not worth the stress and heartache that honestly took away from our car experience.
Fantastic service here today. Miguel Perez is a great advisor if you are lucky enough to get him. My smart key entry system light had come on a few weeks ago but of course I ignored it, and then I started having trouble starting the car with the push button. When I researched online last night I found out that theres actually a service bulletin about that and if I didnt get it fixed I might not be able to start my car. I was able to bring the car in this morning, tell them the problem and show them the service bulletin, and they fixed it! Moreover, it normally would have taken most of the day but when Miguel found out that I was going to wait because I live so far away he was able to put a rush on it and get it done in just over 2.5 hours. On top of everything else, when I asked about new wiper blade inserts, after the repair was finished, he offered to put them on for me for free if I just purchased the parts next door at the parts center. He also told me about a recall that I didnt know about. I didnt have time to get that taken care of today so Ill be bringing the car back next week. This was the best experience Ive ever had at a dealership service center.
While some Salesperson being very nice and professional; some are not results losing customers for good. I have been yelled at by a salesperson at the end of a negotiation by telling I wasted their time, and didn’t tell everything up front such as I’m paying cash or credit. As far as I know it’s best practice to discuss the price first; then disclose the payment method you are interested. It started as a good experience which ended unexpectedly having a salesperson literally yelling and blaming you for not telling them everything up front. Score 0 for attitude. Disappointed very much! I had in mind to renegotiate later but not anymore!
One of the biggest regrets of my life will be not trusting my gut and just buying a car on Carvana. This was hands down the worst buying experience of my entire life. Every single person I interacted with either lied, intentionally misled or made false promises. Including the area manager, George. Our sales rep made promises and did not keep them. His manager Carl made promises and did not keep them. George made promises that were not kept. Every issue we had were minor issues that could have easily have been resolved. If you want to deal with people who try and tack things on to your bill, lie to your face, refuse to do the bare minimum, this is the right place for you. If you like going to dealerships, Id say go to literally any other Honda dealership in the Bay Area.Ill never go to this dealership again. Not for sales or services.
I have used Honda of Oakland for service of my CRV since 2016. I have been satisfied until today. I waited in my car for over 30 minutes when there were just 3 cars in front of me. It appear that there was just 1 service advisor at 8:30 on a Tuesday morning. The excuses were:1. Short staff today2. Computers were stolen over the weekend3. New ownershipI had a check ACC light briefly go on one time the past month and one morning a check Brake system light went on briefly one time. I asked that the computer error log be checked and was told Diagnostic would cost $130. I though the computer check would be part of a standard service I was having A12.I think the business has gone down hill with the new ownership. Google and Yelp rating have been terrible the past few months. At 60K miles, time to find an independent garage.
Friendly staff, fast in and out
I have been purchasing cars from this dealership for over 15 years. The car buying experience is great, however there service department is THE worst! I recently purchased my last car in February 2020 and just had my second service done. The advisor that I was working with, actually took my car in and then left for the day. Almost 3 hours later when I went to check on my car, It had been done the paperwork was just sitting on his desk. I am still trying to contact the manager to file a complaint.
I took my car in to have a roof rack installed. They were able to install it but managed to put multiple dents on my car roof. Luckily they noticed and had me come in weeks later to have it fixed for free. Upon returning my car to have the dents fixed they originally gave me an estimate of 1-2 days and reassured me they would let me know for sure how long it would take by contacting me that same day with an update. After 3 days of no response and not knowing what is going on with my car and when it would be ready, I took it upon myself to call in. The gentleman who was helping me the whole time was off from work so I had to wait until the end of the week for a response just for Honda to tell me it would actually not be ready until the following week.I do not blame Honda for how long it took the repairs to get fixed, but the lack of communication is daunting. Please do not tell me you will keep me updated with my cars progress and then fail to do so. Also, maybe dont quote a customer 1-2 days knowing it may take a week or two in actuality. I would have been totally fine with them originally saying it would take a week or two. However that lack of communication between dealership and customer is unacceptable. Not to mention when I did hear back the gentleman who was dealing with me seemingly could not even remember my name nor why he was calling me.Definitely do not recommend this location to anyone. Not worth the frustration of dealing with this location
Horrible customer service. I was here for a diagnostic check on my car. The service associate insisted on me paying FIRST, before answering any of my questions. The report given was inadequate. The level of detail provided was equivalent to something I could gather with an OBD reader. I called them multiple times and left messages which they didn’t return.I basically spent $185 and got no feedback on what the specific issue with the car is
Need to readjust your service shuttle schedule now that covid restrictions are lifted. chat bot is stupid. it only collects contact info for sales to call you.
The experience me and my brother had at the Honda Oakland was beyond and above greatness due to the detail and efficient sale personBy the name of Ricky Saetern. He Should be considered the valuable employee of the month..Honda of Oakland got it right with adding Mr. Saetern to their establishment..Thank you again for being Professional and being the greatness that you showed us..From The Lewis Family.
Do not go here! These people will smile in your face and lie! If you do decide to go, bring a lawyer to look over the paperwork. I am a first time buyer and they told me I had GAP insurance when I left. One month later the finance company is calling and asking why do I not have GAP. I called the dealership for three days just for them to say SCREW ME. This is definitely a huge inconvenience and I would have rather gone to a mom and pop lot if my best interests weren’t in mind.
Got an Awesome deal. Didnt even bother to haggle because I now this was the lowest price. Look for Glenn. Very professional and thorough. Highly recommend!
I purchased my car here 3 months ago and was promised my first oil change for free. Apparently there has been a change in ownership and they are no longer honoring that and stopped doing that period. Make sure you get all things they promise you in writing before heading out.
Great service good cars. However when they sell you a car, they dont tell you that Hondas are probably the most theft prone cars. I love my 2018 Honda Accord Sport. On the other hand the dealership should have put wheel locks on the cars as a standard. I have had Honda rims stolen off my car 3xs in less than a year. The first time I had no wheel locks and after that I had wheel locks on and they still took the rims. So my advice is when you buy the car dont drive off the lot without making the dealer include wheel locks. After that I would recommend upgrading the car alarm, because each time my rims were stolen the factory alarm never went off. Hey even if they break your window the factory alarm will not go off. Great cars but thieves are always after Hondas.
Had an appointment to take my car in for an oil change and they said I would need to leave my car overnight. Overnight for an oil change? Thats ridiculous I told them no and I am taking my car to Jiffy Lube instead.
Skip this place.Or, I highly recommend being specific with what work you need done at service dept, and check your receipt.Just to be fair, the work they did was fine. The way it came about was not.My car was towed there after I got a flat tire, and yesterday evening they quoted me ~$130 per tire and told me they had two on site. PERFECT, Because I needed one for the flat and the other replaced anyway. I told them to reserve them and consider it paid for, but they couldnt because they have to do an inspection blah blah. Fine, take their word for it.Next day, they call me and ask that since the second tire is worn, did I want it replaced? They had quoted me $130 per tire, and as I was ok with this yesterday, I told them yes.... Go ahead.I get in to pick up my car and they bait and switched me. The FIRST tire was $130 but they didnt have a second at that price. The next one was some other brand that was $250 vs the $130. Seriously? I asked the clerk to explain what happened, and she stated that if I didnt want it they could take it back, but may have already disposed of the other tire. SO WHAT TF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? Drive with no tire?I paid, because its already taken too long to get one tire replaced, and now it would take another day for them to take the car again and get another tire in from elsewhere. They knew what they were doing and theyre ok with this.Really. Look into this. Bait and switch is no fun, and reminds me of why I stopped going her to begin with. Avoid.I hope the new owners/management is aware of this - and if they arent, they should be.EDIT: theyve left me their info so I emailed twice. No response. FiguresNow almost a week and STILL no response. All lip service - skip this place.EDIT #2: still no response. Its been month, multiple emails and nothing. All lip service. I feel like they knew what they were up to and dont care. SKIP THIS PLACE - try Piedmont Auto - they know customer service
Excellent, straightforward experience buying new Honda Odyssey! Ive bought many cars during the past 40 years, and Hocine Sekouchi of Honda Oakland was probably the most helpful, straightforward and knowledgeable salesperson Ive had the pleasure of dealing with! He knew the cars inside out, gave us a very competitive deal, and took the time to explain and demonstrate every control and feature of our new car - even setting up my smartphone to seamlessly interface with the car navigation and audio display screen. I highly recommend Cardinale Honda Oakland for buying a new car.
Honda of oakland they have Poor and agly coustomer service .
I believe my biggest mistake in life is purchasing a vehicle with this dealer, I almost spent 36K to buy a vehicle . I drove 1700 miles, my battery got started problematic, literally frustrating to take it to the dealer for brand new vehicle .they told me I need to drop the vehicle in order to diagnosis, (and I booked Uber to get to my home with my own expenses ) honestly this is ridiculous.i have been very very very frustrated with my purchase (not even a month) . ill definitely take this complaint to next level . I dont deserve to go through all this with having brand new vehicle .
This place is BEYOND amazing! Everyone at this location is friendly and provide a clear understanding of process of buying a car. I am a first time buyer and Asti was able to get me into the car of my CHOICE with ZERO hassle. I would recommend the facility to first time and repeating buyers.
Appointment system doesn’t even do anything. Showed up and had to wait 2 hours to check in my car…what’s the point
Awful customer service. Lack of communication between staff and nobody willing to provide proper help. They recommended we go to Berkeley instead of trying to help my girlfriend return her leased car to which they confirmed that we were lied to by Oakland Honda. Avoid if you can.
I was looking to purchase a 2020 touring passport. Unfortunately I wasnt able to get the vehicle I wanted I was very happy with the help Chris Ko provided. He was able to find me a passport elite with a color I liked but through no fault from Chris I decided to go with a different vehicle via private sale. I would definitely reach out to Chris Ko if I see a vehicle I like at Honda Oakland.
This was my second time purchasing/trading in at a dealership, and this experience was way better than the first. I love my car, and the price was so good I didn’t have to haggle them at all. Matt made sure my experience went as smoothly as possible. I drove all the way from Santa Rosa to get this vehicle due to the competitive price and I’m happy I did! I highly recommend this dealership if you are looking for a Honda.
So my Chevy Malibu broke down and these wonderful people here at Honda offered me all but every bit of their help for absolutely no cost let me use the restroom sitting there waiting room for the tow truck even offered to look at free check-up see if they can get it going Im sure thats not their policy or normal way of doing things before a very polite very nice
I am writing this review to compliment the service department. I have been very surprised on how efficient they are in getting me in and out within the time they tell me. My experience with other service departments has not been the same so I want to recognize them on the terrific job they have done for me and my civic. Keep up the good work!
Very easy to work with everyone at this dealership. Our salesperson, Issac, was a great advocate for us during the purchase process. Thanks, Issac! We love our new Passport.
If you go here, ask for Paul Juster - hes the best. Otherwise you are wasting your time. Avoid Isaac if you want to be treated with respect and kindness.
Relatively good service considering. I bought my car there so I have to go to that dealer. Always satisfied with their services.
Not that bad. Good variety of used cars. Good service department.
What an easy and personalized experience! Thank you Noel, Mark, Francis, and Oliver for working with me in making this all happen! What a great team in making my car purchase stress free!
Mainly the salesperson Daniel made a stressful experience of car purchasing, as comfortable as possible: patience with my questions which he answered well, i never felt pressured, he smiled and was professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. understood the challenges of this 83 year old looking at a car without a key!! I was a bit disappointed that no reduction, even a slight one, was available on the price...that was not Daniels fault.
Everyone is exceptionally nice. My car gets comprehensive care, they communicate with me throughout the process, and they have a nice waiting room with snacks, coffee, and plenty of space. They also gave my dog a bunch of pets and treats. A+ experience, I love this Honda.
Professional. Courteous. Efficient. Friendly. Will come back here again if needed.
Great customer service from Andre Miller who took care of me and my vehicle. He called and communicated with any updates and pricing. Thank you Andre!
Quality service. Andre was super helpful and friendly. His recommendations to save me money and address other issues in an affordable fashion has earned my trust for the future.
Okay, I had a problem with my car, which at first was handled very poorly by the manager (Brock I believe is his name), Thank God for Anthony who was very friendly and helpful. Todd was great, but he is the GM, so you expect that level of professionalism from him. The problem was straightforward to solve if the manager would have to listen to me, but he assumed I was a scammer then immediately treated me like one. This review has five stars because they did right by me; otherwise this couldve been a one-star review.Thank you again, Anthony and Todd.
Salesmen are deceiving and not upfront.
Great customer service and kind manner.colleague a grandmother and digitally challenged. She needed to know how to connect her new phone number to the phone access..not only did the salesman help her to enter..he also showed how to enter her family and helped her..He showed how to voice activate...by just stating the name.. He took the time with patience on a bustling Easter weekend..now she can call her two sons and daughter..her best friend by calling the name..
I decided I liked the price they were offering and bought it here without haggling. They matched a rate I was offered elsewhere (def werent the lowest otherwise). Love my car!
Wonderful service! Victor helped me with a key Fob late on a Friday evening just before closing. I was immediately assisted and the key was made before closing. I couldn’t have had a better experience! This is an amazing dealership! Thank you!
This place was great! I came in and right away got service. I came out with a car and a great deal . I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable car at good prices.
They charged my girlfriend $150 for a cabin air filter replacement. Total joke, find an independent mechanic. Its a $15 part and a 5 minute job.
Watch out for their slick financing. Your car price will jump from $$$ to $$$$. Read every fine print details before signing. Ill never go back there.
Had some issues with service. Tried to contact the general manager and service director twice. Was ignored both times. They got a few dimes from me but, thankfully, it was only a $190 lesson and not in the thousands! Its cool; Ill just move on and not repeat the mistake of doing business with them again.
I find their service department is very good. They really try hard to please. They know their way around the sophisticated electronics in modern Honda vehicles. The waiting area is clean, with good coffee and cakes.
Had a great experience here. Mark Ramos was my salesperson and I felt really taken care of. Trust me, this guy is very knowledgeable on product and is very fair and truthful with pricing. Not like other sleazy salesmen. Seriously, ask for him. Been to so many other dealerships and this was the first time I didnt feel suffocated. 10/10, will recommend friends & family.
Can I give Zero Stars?Terrible experience: these guys are scam artists and will try at all costs to pressure you into a credit check, presumably to sell you their financing. AVOID. I went in here with my own financing pre-arranged to purchase a used car. Manny and his manager, Eric, tried a variety of tactics to get me to sign a Credit Agreement Form. (a) They needed to verify my identity to sell me a car; (b) my Credit Union was part of CUDL and this would make transferring the funds easier; (c) the Credit Agreement Form was also their contract of sale document. Other rhetoric used to pressure me into cooperation was (1) it was hard to get a job there, they were certified by the DMV and FBI; (2) my data was as-safe with them as it was at a bank; and (3) I didnt understand how the used car buying process worked. I walked out and bought a car the next day at San Francisco Honda.
Great customer service, clear communication from the technician, quick service turn-around, and it was easy for me to come in at a time convenient for my schedule.
I bought my car here and had a great sales guy. Financing not so much. I always bring my car for service here. I tried Hayward Honda 1x . It was more expensive and the level of service just was not there. In Oakland they show me my report and answer any questions, the place is cleaner than other service centers i have seen in the area.
Brought my car in for a flat tire which was under warranty after buying 4 new tires the year prior. They insisted I only bought 2 tires, not including the one that was flat. I had to dig up my old bill to prove I bought all 4 tires. Felt scammy.
Sales dept us awesome... please be careful with the finance dept here.
Ask for Hocine ! Best person to talk to and very straight forward, helpful and respectful . Thank you Hocine !
This is the best Honda service location. You dont need an appointment, and they can almost always squeeze you in. The support techs never try to sell you repairs you dont need, and often try to save me money instead! I asked for an oil change for my new car, they did a quick inspection and sent me home in 10 minutes (with inflated tires!), saying I didnt need one yet, and that everything looked fine.
Honda of Oakland is the best Honda dealership in the San Francisco Bay Area in my opinion. I spend several weeks negotiating with nine local Honda Dealerships and Honda of Oakland was the best of the nine so I bought my new Honda Fit there last week. If you go there ask for Tuan Huynh. He is the sales person I worked with. My purchase was easy and there was no pressure. I knew exactly what I wanted, Honda of Oakland had it, and I was in and out in less that an hour.
When I called about an oil change they gave me info and said there was a coupon on their website theyd honor despite it being expired, which I thought was cool. When I came in less than an hour later, they refused to honor it and wanted to charge $30 over the coupon.1) wasted my time2) dont like being lied to over the phone for a bait and switch.
While their service is very knowledgeable - dont think too slow. The person who tells you rates for service is so quick to hang up the phone after you begin to say thank you... but oh - having a follow up question after that you better know that you will be hung up on and need to call again. He is courteous but too quick which can come off as rude!
I never got past the phone call with this company. I needed an oil change and a broken window repaired. I did not need to have a condescending men try to speak slower and higher and explain why my choice to not leave my car with them overnight is dumb. Don’t ask where I park my car at night, that is none of your concern, what does matter is you answering if you can do the service I need today. No? I’ll call another company.
Just bought a new Honda CR-V ex, was helped by Glen Scheffer. Got the best pricing and smooth transition through the buying process. I highly recommend this dealership.
Very helpful and capable service - thank you!
Took some time, but was glad to get it back. I hope I wont have to update this posting with any additional issues. Thanks Honda of Oakland.
Honda of Oakland saved me from Honda of Hayward(Sonic corporation owns Hayward and they are a bit scandalous...)... Honda of Oakland not only got me the deal I needed but for the price I needed... extremely good people(not like most places where the employees are more like robots than people)... Employees of Honda of Oakland KNOW their job well and are very helpful... quite honestly to those who read my post you really CANT go wrong with Honda of Oakland...one thing I am seriously impressed with them is they never tried to sell me on anything ...they let me figure it out for myself and when I had made MY choice they showed me all the features in detail,so I left there as if I had owned this car for a while.... contracts took 16 minutes to get through (Hayward took 2 hours and 45 minutes)...they also gave me more for my trade-in than any of the other 7 places I looked at...a last note, their inventory is pretty much top tier, their ability to secure cars that virtually no one else has access to (I bought a new 2018 pilot when I was told by Hayward that there werent any anywhere...).... i bought 5 cars from Hayward and never felt this content and confident as I feel now......THANK YOU TO OAKLAND HONDA...you are the best in my opinion
I started my new car purchase through their website using their new easy-to-use online car purchasing tool where, in essence, it allows you to purchase your new vehicle entirely online. My salesperson, Nicole L., was amazing every step of the way! I had a fairly challenged credit situation going in and they helped make the process as smooth as possible, being flexible where they were able to. The new era of car buying is here at last, where they use the latest tech throughout the process. All great things to say about Honda of Oakland!
I’ve spent thousands of dollars here with two cars were major and minor repairs and service. However I’m not going to go here again because they’re really trying to just jack up the price of their service without regard to whether it’s really needed or without regard to delivering good value and service to the customer. I would encourage you to find an independent mechanic or go to another
2nd reviewI came back here after receiving a coupon for a complimentary oil change since I purchased the vehicle there. I came in at around 11am and the person who helped me said that it will take around 2-3 hours for the oil change. 3 hours later I started to look around and saw that a few folks that came to the waiting room after me had already left. 3.5 hours later someone who came in after me was attended by a technician regarding the delay in their vehicle. 4 hours later I went to look for the person that helped me during check-in and he said my car was already ready! Why was I not notified when he said he would call me! How long would have it took if I didnt reach out! Horrible service! I mean I get it, its a free oil change but I do expect some kind of professionalism from this place.1st reviewOverall service was great from the sales agent to the manager and director. However, a day after purchasing the vehicle I started to smell cigarettes in the car and have been trying to get rid of it since. We didn’t notice the smell at the time as we were more preoccupied looking at other aspects of the car and negotiating a price. I’m sure they knew the previous owner was a smoker, I mean how could they not and not disclose this? It is business in the end after all.
Best car buying experience we have had. Great staff and product.
Excellent customer service! Exceeds expectations! Look for Brian or Sammy!
Leased the new Clarity. Price was fixed so no negotiation needed. Their service was great, they were attentive and very courteous from the front desk to sales to finance. Dont know how it would be if I had to negotiate for a regular car. Glad I didnt have to.
I had to purchase a battery for my key (I couldnt start the car without it). So, glad Honda is open on Sundays! Quick service. I was in and out in 10 min.
I went in for a rather urgent repair. The service department was very good. I worked with Christina and Chris. They were both well-informed, professional, and skilled. I know enough about cars to have a good BS-meter, and these folks were playing it straight. It was thorough, convenient, and quick. Free courtesy shuttle etc. Its a dealer, so it wasnt cheap--I might have been able to save 20% or something on labor going somewhere else, but in this case I was willing to pay for the extra service and convenience, and I probably will again in the future. (Hopefully not too soon.)
I have been to many Honda dealers across the country and have never had this experience. Without even checking the car they wanted to sell me $1,000 worth of maintenance including things that have been done recently. Then, in the list of repairs there were items that didn’t seem to be a problem until I went there. Now the car has a new noise and the battery all of the sudden is giving me trouble. And like others said, they do overcharge even for a Honda dealer. My experience at Berkeley was so much better and service was way faster.
Well organized, clean service center and waiting room. Smell of fresh popcorn doesnt hurt, either. Friendly professionals start to finish.
I get most of my work done here. The staff is very friendly, with a warm cookie and a free Lyft ride there and back while they work on your car. The list price for service can be pricey, so always negotiate for the best deal that you can, and always price-match for tires to get the cost down. They send coupons fairly frequently, so be sure to request those as often as you can! Even if you dont have one in hand, they will usually honor it. Car repairs and service can be a difficult field to navigate, but they seem to be fairly honest, and their tire prices are on par with Costco, with service prices better than many of the small shops in the area. I have found the parts department to be very economical for minor tweaks that you can do yourself.
Absolutely wonderful experience buying a new car at Honda of Oakland.I have visited dealerships all over the Bay Area and have been so disappointed by the horrible customer service, lack of knowledge, and honesty found in most dealerships.Honda Oakland was such a breath of fresh air. Our salesman, Sheldon, and the whole staff at Oakland were super friendly and helpful. They were direct and honest, and we left the dealer very happy about our purchase and find experience.
I just purchased a 2013 Accord Sedan and couldnt be happier with my experience at Honda of Oakland. Both T.R (salesman) and Roger (Finance) were excellent to work with and made the process of buying the car and trading in my old car very painless. I appreciate their honesty and straightforwardness. Would definitely recommend this Dealership. Thanks
Good choice of cars, excellent service, reasonable financing.
Their service center is really great. I know dealerships are inherently more expensive than a regular shop, but their representatives are very straightforward and easy to work with. They do not push you to do extra work
I called to talk to a representative the the finical department. It took me a combination of 3 call backs over the span of two hours to speak with them after going through other people. This was my experience today though I would still rate them very poorly for my buying experience which was a year ago.
Purchased my car here, this review is regarding their service department. The one star is for the friendly technicians, the missing stars are for the way the dept. schedules appointments. Be forewarned that appointments are for arrival times, that is when you get to drive your car in, which means minor things like an oil change could potentially take the entire day. Ive been to other service centers that make every effort to service your car as close to your scheduled appointment as possible. Better to call in an appointment and ask how long it will take, better yet find a good mechanic.
Got a very good deal on a used Toyota. Dealer and support staff were all very helpful. Only bad thing was that it took a long time to complete the sale, but mostly due to all the paperwork.
Ralph was my service rep. He was amazing. He answered all of my questions and kept me up to date on the status of my car. He even told me about brake service I needed but recommended that I get it elsewhere since it was cheaper. The folks answering the phones were also very nice. Too bad I live in SF, or Id come here more often for service.
Unfortunately I have never felt that the people working at Oakland Honda are happy to be there. I think theyre trying really hard but I never feel its sincere so even though my job is right in front of Honda Oakland I choose to use Honda of San Leandro they are way more friendly
Great for inspecting vehicles and basic services but they will charge you significantly more than other shops for anything moderate level like changing brake pads. I have them inspect the vehicle and the politely tell them to only do the lowest level service and take my vehicle elsewhere.
Bought a new car from Paul and Emily. They were kind and efficient. They guarantee the price that you see online. I’m very happy with my purchase.
