Ordered the chocolate cream cake. One of the best I ever had. As fresh as can be, fluffy and creamy. Was ready for pickup, no prior order required. If you want a readily available cake which tastes excellent, you cant beat this. The flavor, texture and ready availability made up for the lackluster presentation. 5/5

Excellent portion sizes, kind staff, and a sizable storefront. Pastries and cakes are unfortunately too sweet for my own preference. I probably wont be back myself, but its a very popular place with others! Had a couple of people in line both before and after me when I popped in on a weekday afternoon. Good on them; happy to see it!

This bakery looked really delicious, so I was excited to try it out for a friends birthday. We ordered a pie days in advance and were assured that it would be ready first thing in the morning, but when we came in they werent ready at all and told us to come back in an hour. That isnt possible, which is why we ordered it in advance, and now my friend has nothing for their birthday! With that lack of professionalism I cant recommend this bakery for special occasions.

We ordered a birthday cake for our sons 9th birthday. As usual, the cake was delicious. But this year, instead of using the typical decoration, our son selected an online picture and they somehow printed it on the cake. The result was really great and exceeded my expectations, thus this review! :-)Everyone at the party loved the cake: it tasted great and looked phenomenal. At the end of the day, there was no cake left....:-)Thank you for the big hit!

Called in looking for iced butter cookies and was told they would be have some in two days, so decided to go in regardless.When I arrived, noticed they had three different types of iced butter cookies on display.I purchased two of them which came to a total of $8 and some change 😳Total sticker shock$4 for a cookie?They are definitely not a $4 cookieWay over priced and was given wrong information on the phone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They have Christmas cookie trays!! Just like grandma/auntie used to spend days making! And we can just walk in and pick one up....

Have always loved this place! Been around since I was little, call Neldums back in my day. Same as it was then ! Absolutely amazing! When you get a cake from there, EVERYONE knows where its from on first bite!Got the chocolate cream cream, (they call it something else now) for a surprise birthday party for my bff! Of course it was a hit! They never disappoint! Prices are very reasonable! Good old local place! Hope we never lose this one! Gotta give them our local support to keep then alive and basking cakes and pasterys that are to die for!

I got my 2 tier wedding cake from here and i Loved it sooo much, i did really go into detail and explain how I wanted it though but it came out exactly how we wanted it and the cake was so moist and good.

What I like about Denmark is the butterhorns, dream cakes and the yellow cake with chocolate icing DELICIOUS!!

The mature workers acted like they didnt see you or your money 💲 wasnt green.as I was passed over 3 no 4 times I wasnt asked if I had questions or needed help. I brought a friend who didnt have no money and was treated more favorable.

Im so glad this place is still open for business and the outside of there shop looks so cool now! They even had the hours painted on so I was really happy when I stopped by today.I ended up getting a blueberry danish for breakfast and also got a freshly baked lemon meringue tart and a Chantilly slice to bring home and have for dinner. The last time I went I got an apple crumble and a danish and they were so good. Its definitely a happy place for me to go and Im just surprised I didnt buy more stuff when I was there today.Ill definitely go back again when Im in the area because the staff is so friendly and wholesome and their food is so good! She even told me the right names of stuff when I didnt know what they were called, which is super helpful when I tell other people.

A taste of Denmark is by far my favorite bakery in the Bay area Ive been going there for over 30 years used to buy birthday cakes for my daughters always would get the lemon sheet cakes they are the best and the strawberry whipped cream cakes are the absolute best I love the customer service there and theyre always there to please, now I just go there when I want to feel nostalgic its one of those kind of places that you can always go back and feel like youre at home a great place for me and will always have a place in my heart.

Delicious desserts for decades.I don’t recall seeing any employees with masks or gloves, but they’ve supported social distancing and removed seating during Covid. I’ll be grateful when they restore their hours, but I understand that they are doing what they can to stay afloat.

The petite four cake is the best..moist interior, and the ganache is perfect. When being helped I was suggested the one without rum, given I mentioned I was picking a couple up for my children.Will have to try out their other pastries.

LOVE their cakes! The quality of the cakes are beyond compare and great customer service as well. Called and gave my custom cake order over the phone was talked through all my options. Afterwards was emailed the invoice and how wonderful they accept PayPal payment! Went a the appointed time to get my cake and was helped right away and the cake design was exactly as I requested. The outside of the store has been damaged a bit which is sad as this is one of the oldest bakeries in Oakland.

Injust went in and spent $150 for a work meeting. Holy cow did I get a ton of items that looked gorgeous and tasty. The prices are really great and the variety is amazing. The taste? EVEN BETTER!

Not how it used to be. I used to come for their strawberry shortcake. It was the best I had ever had. But just went here after a few years and its not the same anymore. The Danish didnt taste fresh either. Sad and disappointed

Just like old times. I remember when this was Neldams bakery. The goodies still taste delicious. I ordered a cheese Danish, lemon bars, and a tiny cheesecake. All were flavorful, and the right texture. My only issue is I didnt get my Petit Fores which I looooovvvvveeee. I didnt realize with Covid their hours were shorter so products were sold out by the time I got there right before closing. Next time Im out there Ill head over early so I can have more to choose from.

Nice bakery and nice desserts. I like the place and I am very happy that I came here and enjoyed the delicious pastries. Professional staff and service was nice. My kids were happy to be here and now this place is one of their favorite places. Overall, me and my kids were satisfied with our experience.

Although our 25th Anniversary celebration was changed. It was a socially distant celebration🎉😷. We still ordered a cake. It was beautiful & delicious. Our family always ordered cakes from (Neldams). Thank you for years of tradition.

One of the few places I can still find a Chess Pie! And STILL cant find a turnover comparable to the buttery goodness that this place makes!!! I used to take my children there when they were little, when it was still Neldams Bakery. I dont notice any difference in the baked goods since this place changed over some years back... Which is a GOOD thing! 😁 So nice to have a taste of nostalgia to share with my children (who are grown now). 😊

We ordered our wedding cake from a taste of Denmark! It was delicious and assembled perfectly. Its exactly what we wanted and our guests enjoyed every bite.I only wish they wouldve provided a box to place the leftover cake. Other than that we would definitely recommend this bakery for cake orders.

All I can say is Amazing! The apricot and pineapple turnovers are beyond description. Wonderful flaky crust with a delicious filling.I live in San Jose so my husband and I stop by anytime we are passing through Oakland. If youd like some fabulous baked treats check it out.

The staff was very polite and professional. Denise helped me pick out the best cake for my event. I received many compliments on the cake from my family. Pina colada cake is delicious. I also purchased a birthday cake with Frozen theme. The kids loved it!!

Unfortunately their service doesnt match their delicious desserts.Because I wanted to order a custom cake, I kept getting past up, the employees had to help everyone before me.One employee started my order, then walked in the back to answer a phone call.He disappeared. 25 mins later, the other employee tells me the same thing. She needs to help all these customers before me.They werent even kind about it.Im a pretty patient person, I understand how hard it is when your slammed and everyone excepts you to help them right then and thereSadly, I no longer will make the trip out of my way for them .

The dessert sweets arent great (cakes and cream puffs, etc.), but the danishes are the best youll find. I grab some sticky buns, cheese danishes, or honey nut danishes at least once or twice a month.

This bakery is definitely one of my favorites in the east bay. The chocolate eclairs are delicious. The seasonal butter cookies are always cute and of course yummy. I have yet to order a cake here. Perhaps my wedding cake!?

Absolutely everything I have ordered from Taste of Denmark has been remarkable. They are masters of the craft!

This place is surely not the same as usual. I’ve been coming here for several years with my family and now i don’t think about coming here. It looks great from the outside but no so from the workers and quality aspect. Homeless come in there and harass customers and they also touch all over products paying customers pay for. The coffee machine is accessible and getting touched all over by them. Some of the managers are rude and disrespectful. Only some of the clerks are really why I spend my money there. Some of the products is dry, old and hard. Customers told me the managers treat them horrible. I’ve heard them say the manager refers to them as Boy/Girl. That term was used back in space days and I didn’t like hearing it. One innocent guy with a disability is being called stupid and idiots by the same manager. Prices and products were being brought up unexpectedly without workers notice. There isn’t one accord there and heard they were being punished for not knowing new product and when they asked for further help. The workers aren’t taking serious even when they it’s a serious illness. One clerk said managers thought it was funny and they jokes and said haha I heard you almost Died. Also, it’s a clerk being treated differently from others. She’s allowed to do anything she wants with no consequences, but when others do it they get punished and talked about. It’s no fairness !! The big thing I’ve heard is that it’s rat traps laying in the bakery area as well as sightings of dead roaches. The building is falling apart and most stuff breaks and doesn’t work ! Totally disgusted and I feel for those workers.
