There is a Luckys Market ilocated in Montclair, Oakland. It has three parking lots: one out front; one underneath; and one on top of the store. You can almost always find a parking spot at Luckys. They are open from 6-10—which makes it very convenient!Luckys has a weekly flier that is worth looking to see what their best deals are for the week They have a meat and fish counter—where the butcher can get you what you want. (They arent like the old fashioned butchers that can make special cuts for you—but they still can weigh things out for you). Also, you can smell fish before you buy—which I really like. They have a bakery, and a deli. You can get a sandwich freshly made, or a newly baked cake. They have a liquor department; a floral department; and a relatively large selection of produce. In the middle of the store, there are all those things we come to expect when we go into a large grocery store. What I like about Luckys—is they have almost everything.
ALL of the checkers are awesome 😊!!!! Love running into the area fire departments shopping 🙏!! Meat and seafood department butchers are great as well!! Love Montclair ❣️
Our local medium sized super market. It has a great array of products, but if their having a sale on something, its likely sold out. The staff here is very special, as many have been here over ten years!! Overall, a great shop!
Lucky in Montclair, Oakland is part of a chain and you need to be well off to live nearby. That said, it is a friendly neighborhood spot and was welcoming to this outsider from the East Coast who was staying locally in an Airbnb. Good selection of food at semi- reasonable prices
My overall experience was nice at the store I went to the deli department to have a sandwich made and I noticed the clerk did not wear a mask so I decided not to getting anything from the deli thats why I gave a score of 3 stars only
I used to shop here a lot but Im not sure I ever will again after what happened today. There was no one in charge of self checkout and the line and wait became very long with only 3 registers open. Many of the customers dont know how to use self checkout (one lady was at her register for what felt like 15 minutes because she didnt know how to put coupons in). So the people in line were waiting for incredibly long while management was in a mess trying to get someone to the self checkout area and the woman who was taking forever at her stand would go looking around the store for other stuff. Absolutely ridiculous and some of the worst customer service Ive ever seen.
Really classy and cheap supermarket in our city. My mother asked me last week to buy some of the goods we wanted. I was pleased that the saleswoman was able to help me out. Shes very welcoming. All the items I wanted were available, plus the price was fair. Youre asking me to visit your store again.
The store was clean. People were nice, but my goodness why are certain items soo overpriced!? Coffemate creamer for $14.49!? Its $4.99 everywhere else. Im done. Cant afford this store.
Clean and well stocked. Free easy parking.
Always a pleasant experience shopping there. The clerks are very friendly. I know where all the the things that I need so it makes it very convenient for me.
Clean n saftey precautions friendly n helpful staff
The workers need to learn how to wear a mask.
Best luckys in the Oakland area of about 25 miles
Feel at Home of the exotic spectacular service
A very wonderful experience A1 customer service experience I am big on customer service
Very good experience at Lucky - bought 2 huge clay pots as well as groceries!
Self checkout should have more than 2 registers. Fix the 2 inoperable ones, keeps your customers happy! Store is clean and employees helpful.
Outstanding old fashioned service and quality
Everything thing was just fine.Staff wS very helpful and thats always a plus.
I ship early to avoid the rush. The staff are pleasant and follow the covid rules. The store has pretty much everything I need. The aisles are narrow, which might present problems at busy times.
7/21/2020The store is so clean and well organized. I like the helpful employees and the cute sign by Lucky store sign with the flower above the entrance as you walk in. Everything about it is just a friendly grocery store!Hong in the deli was very attentive the other day and Lindsey was very cheerful and outgoing. Tonya near the check stand was super fast assisting us, and all of the lines assisted seem to move at a great speed! Even at self-checkout, where we ended up.
Overall clean store. Lots of produce. Butcher. Bakery. Our checker was extremely sweet and cheerful. My first time visiting this location and would definitely frequent again.
This store needs proper management. Its unfortunate that its the best of the two super markets in the village. From overtaxing on certain products to rude employees, they have lots of room for improvement.
I appreciate how clean this particular Luckys was..No crowd and.I was able to find everything on my list.A big difference between this Luckys and,the one on Est18 in Oakland.
Although it was busy the lines went quick and everyone were wearing masks properly.
Availability of variety of foods and antibacterial products are up. Prices are a good 15% higher than March. Shortage of whole Rosey organic chickens. Covid safe guards are low. Wipes for carts are outside. No hand sanitizer stations. Everyone checking out must be in one aisle. So you are consistently walking through air droplets from the people in front of you all the way to check out.
Great place to shop for essentials.
Produce seems fresher than the Safeway on the other side of the Village. Surprisingly good craft beer selection. The deli folks are friendlier than the Safeway too.Ive never tried the fresh grilled meats that they do in front of the store, but they do smell great.Covered parking under the store.
Poorly managed with super long lines and broken self checkout
All the stuff you need on a tilted floor that will always have your cart drifting away from you. Good selection though😏
They had everything I needed what else can I say
Employee that Checked Me Out was Very Good paid Attention to what I Ask Her to Do?💯
The cashier gave me 5 packed sandwiches with a bag of chips in each box. I wish I knew her name. But anywho. Thank you to the cashier. She was extremely sweet and had a smile on her face the entire time.
I purchase groceries often at this Montclair store and have always found the staff friendly and helpful and the store well stocked. I recommend it highly.
It is good and big store but employees have a bad attitudes. Those African ladies at the checkers are worst. One of the African lady called Ebony is very lazy and rude. Other African lady is very disrespectful.
Love the people there very friendly
Every employee is very helpfull . The store is always in order . The lines move fast and there is always parking .
Great sales and even better customer service.
Very nice store but pricey.
Its still a nice store but not like it used to be
One of the better of the chain grocery stores. Produce good. General selection good. Prices good. Worst things are (a) extremely lame music plays loudly, as if they want to drive you out of the store as quickly as possible, and (b) their milk generally goes bad before the pull date, as if something in the dairy delivery / storage process isnt working right. Other than those two items, definitely recommended.
Its fine, slow sometimes
It is always very good to shop at Luckys. In the north west there is no Luckys so I found Fred Myers. Love them both.
Great to have a supermarket near by. The staff is always helpful and they value customers and their time. I have never experienced the neverending line here.
Fairly well stocked though not as much as the Rockridge Safeway. For some reason the water misters over the produce are shut off so the fresh veggies seem to be drier - at least on their surfaces - than before. The 4 self checkout machines are a great time saver if you wish to check out less than 15 items.
Oh lucky. I wished this place was a bit nicer. They seem to have the necessities but thats about it. Their organic section is up and coming but lacks some basics but could be due to seasonal issues. I want to be a fan of this place but it needs a little help.
Its strange. Lots of the shelves were half empty. The store also did not appear to be as clean as it has been on past visits.
Need more organics just not enough local customers buying!? They had great selection for a while then scaled it way back again! Would think being in such an affluent area there would be more demand.
Luckys has changed so much. They used to be the store to do all your grocery shopping, with all the best deals, nice and clean. Now you can barely find a Luckys store, and when you do, their prices are soooo high, I just cant do any serious shopping there anymore. And this particular store looks dark, and gloomy looking, and not as clean as one would expect for a store.
Underwhelming, as a grocery store. Is missing many items (including a liquor section). For its size its surprisingly under stocked. Limited selection on even the basics. Probably fine for last minute grocery runs, but drive to the lucky a few blocks away and get a much better option.
Everything was great, except their was a power outage
Very clean and well organized
Big store
Having grown up in Piedmont, this is the main spot we would come 2 shop for groceries.
Better than the Safeways in the area. Dairy department is too small and limited. Id ditch half of the skus for better quality. Also poorly stocked and rotated... meat and seafood counter is mediocrity at its best.
The carts are able to carry a 150 pound overgrown 24 year old child without issue. The 24 year old girl pushing the cart did not have any issues steering it. Solid construction. It was a bit hard to get out for the overgrown child but thats his own lack of flexibility.
The staff is 90% great but the store itself is pretty run down. They have less than ten handbaskets (an employee told me this) so grab a cart if you can find one! And the store often has only one lane open. Ive actually never seen the self checkout open here. Its fine because there isnt another store in the neighborhood, but definitely not my first choice...Ever.
Service varies widely from checker to checker. Selection is pretty good. Phones cant receive data in the store. Entire store slopes gently to the rear, so carts roll away.
Long lines all the time and floors are really crooked If you dont watch out your cart will start going downhill crashing into people and things never been in a store like this... The employees are friendly but not a great selection
Decent sized supermarket. Lots of sales Adams a large BBQ pit outside on the weekends. Friendly staff!
My go to market here in Montclair. The staff is nice, and they have plenty of options for fresh produce. Stocked up on $1 avocados the other day. They were delicious
This is an excellent Lucky Store with good service, a good selection of organics, and fairly well stocked. But, they loose two stars for price gouging the Montclair residents. The prices in this store compared to other nearby markets can be as much as 30% higher. (For example, a pound of ground turkey at Trader Joes is 3.99. Its $5 on sale or $5.99 regularly at Lucky.) Even the local store Garner Joes nearby is easily 25 to 30 percent cheaper on many items.I was told by an employer that the Montclair Lucky Store is the most profitable in their chain. Im not surprised. So we shop their for convenience and speed. But know your grocery bills will be higher here.
Found what we needed quite easily
This store has very poor service and rude employees. I hate this place I will never come back there again. Especially those African American ladies are rude and racist.
Great store. Always clean, well stocked, and friendly staff who is willing to help you find things. Meat and Produce always well stocked with fresh product and weekly specials. Quality of product for these departments is great, better than many other stores. Be careful, there is a smaller older female asian clerkagger with glasses; that needs to go back to school on filling bags. She slams everything into the bag such as breads on the bottom, can goods on top, and places all the heavy things in one bag, instead of spreading the load across all the bags, and protecting the delicate items. Yes I can say this because I used to be a cashier and bagged for my customers. When I tried to correct her she argued with me, while the cashier looked in amazement when I loaded the bag without having to looks where everything was being placed, yes the old school method. Faster, better filling of the bag. Next time she comes to blows with me, Im asking for the manager. I dont care if youre in a union or not, do what is right for the customer. Brings back repeat business. Last thing, for some reason the floors have settled, so every aisle has a slope towards the front of the store, so your cart will roll away from you. Hope this helps.
The Lucky in Montclair is far better than the Montclair Safeway which is totally lame. Try it!
Good selection but they need to put the cost per unit (e g. oz, lb or foot) like Safeway does
Really big supermarket, you can find everything you can possibly need or wish, helpful and gentle employees, a bit expensive though, compare to others ( like Walmart).
A nice location. Better produce than Safeway.
They had everything on my shopping list and everyone was courteous!
A great experience seeing the same dedication in Florida and California. Thanks for a happy shopping trip.
Customer service is lacking. Asked for a coconut sherbet and was told I dont know if we carry that. No assistance whatsoever. And they never have enough lanes open to accommodate the customers. Only go there if I cant find parking at safeway. Every time I go to lucky I remember why I go there as a last resort.
Good Honey Dew melon today and generally good and varied produce. Knudsen low fat cottage cheese and Strauss nonfat Greek yoghurt. Nice market in the Montclair district of Oakland.
Best grocery in Montclair.
Great food, Bad smell right when you walk in. They have a great selection and their staff is really nice but they suck at monitoring the fruits/vegetables. I was sorting through rotten tomatoes while a stock member was standing right next to me.
Small place but organize good.
Hold on to your shopping cart as they roll on their own like the floor is tilted. Fifteen item limit ignored in the self check out. Store employees are mostly grumpy
Great store, so much parking. The staff is extremely helpful. The selection of speciality foods abundant, and the have the Tillamook Jerky I love.
Nice grocery store. Its well maintained with a good stock. Prices are moderate.
All American place to stock up on your monthly supplies, great prices on meat, and Dairy, not to mention Pellegrino soda water
Small but quaint little village shopping center. They have a wide variety of offerings. Friendly staff.
Great place to shop
A fairly average supermarket with a byzantine underground parking lot and awkward outdoor lot. The underground lot is entered through poorly marked lanes - which often result in people driving in the exit or out the entrance. The lot is jointly shared with trash service area - so it quite stinky in addition to being dark. Just to add to the unpleasantness there are frequent car break-ins in the underground lot. The above ground lot has a odd layout much like a garden maze - which seems to provoke drivers to pull in and out of spaces impulsively. I recommend the Safeway on Claremont - until the Montclair district drags both of their supermarkets into the current decade - with better lighting; with better selection; with cleanliness.
Have shopped there ever since it opened; today was the worst in terms of service. Bad- tempered check out person and bagger and it looked liked the Deli Counter had run out of items.
New to shopping there but everything was fresh, clean store, nice clerks, very helpful
Good selection but high prices. Parking always avaliable but always tricky with older drivers and multiple parking levels. Always smells like fish.
Spacious and clean for an older supermarket. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Friendly people!
Today, casher behaved bad and slow And helper insisted to 2for 1 product same item. But i saw mix and match in same company product. Anyways, so dont care feeling i got and slow...everything.
I love my local Luckys store!
Meat department is good, full liquor department. Generally quick checkout.
Its ok, but mid evening there was only one checkstand open, no self checkout open, and no atore-brand soy milk in stock.
Great fullsize grocery store. Parking is confusing, but they built it to try and maximize the amount of cars they could hold. I avoid the rat race and just go to the roof where there is usually a lot of parking.
Good meat and fish deals like 5 for $25. Very busy during peak hours and parking can get rough.
Absolutely love the girl in the seafood department Carmen was helpful.
❤❤❤ I LOVEEEEEEEEEE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS STORE 😇😇😇.
Great points/rewards program - i am always getting good deals and discounts
Well organized; clean.
