Good and courteous service, under the two managers I dealt with on San Leandro St. In Oakland, CA. New customers should inquire about the difference in terms of you have your own insurance on the items in storage. You may be able to avoid having them charge for their insurance. I was a bit annoyed that they dont prorate your last months rent on move out. Other storage companies do that. Best to vacate right before your due date.

Very easy and simple. I rented a unit online and the next day I went in and stores my things. Rob was really kind to me and showed me around. Thank you for having exceptional service on all fronts.

Friendly and helpful staff, nice storage space. Only complaint is that they raised our rate after only several months (not even 6) and treated it like a normal thing - baiting and then springing a $20 rate raise for no real reason is poor business practice. I found a cheaper more convenient unit closer to my home. I wouldn’t have moved if they hadn’t raised my rate, it was already pushing it on affordability.

My son had this storage for 8yrs. I took over after he passed away on January 14, 2021. I can say he must have been satisfied since he kept it for so many years. However, I feel I was taken through unnecessary changes getting it transferred into my name with inadvertently over looking a simple thing on the paper I had to get notarized. I was made to do it all over again whereas I had to pay another $45.00 to write in a few words and have it notarized again.

You would think itd be easy to go into a place and rent something, but like life...nothing is that easy. Ive spent the last several days looking for a space to leave some of my stuff (recently moved out of the bay area) that I didnt want to throw away. Memorabilia, Collector items, some bedding, etc, but seemed every where I went there was a charge for this, a charge for that, had to talk to this person, then call that person, needless to say I was over all of it. Just as I was giving up a good buddy of mine recommended I check this place out. He had an easy, quick experience and told me to talk to Lisa...I did just that. She was GREAT! Just like that she blew my frustrations away and not only helped me get everything signed away and taken care of, but she even went as far as cheering me up. Im not much for talking to people but she had a very warming voice and was overly kind with me, even though I came in a little rough (sorry again about that Lisa). If it wasnt for her, I would be living with little space in my apartment. Thank you again Lisa for youre amazing personality and help, and to anyone looking to rent a storage in the bay area, THIS is the spot to go. Ask for Lisa, she might just turn your day around!

I came into this location and received the best customer service I have ever received. Lisa was very helpful and thoroughly explained the process. This location is very lucky to have an associate who patient, kind, and understanding. Although I decided to not use this location due to travel time, I look forward to using this location in the future and look forward to meeting with Lisa again!

The manager Tasha was very helpful and patient. I asked questions about the insurance, hours, size of the different units. She made sure that I knew that my property was secure and security cameras were in place. Also, she made sure I knew how to use my gate code to get in and out. She put me at ease. Very friendly. I even ran into other patrons and they were just as friendly as she was.

Its a very well organized storage facility but they could use a couple more carts to bring things in or out also a little pricey, I am paying $118 for a 5ft. by 4ft.Thats per month, thats almost $6.00 per square foot. Thats more than down town high-rise prices. But the first month cost me $58 and thats ok hopefully Ill have my things out before the end of the month. This place is very secure, nobody can get in or out without personal codes and keys so for a month not bad at all 😉.

Who loves having storage? No one. Especially in these Covid times, where storage likely represents a transition, downsize or worse... hardship. That being said, my experience at ESS Oakland was a good one. The staff is excellent. Nyle provided exemplary customer service. A very personable young man, customer-focused and willing to help in any way possible. The Mgr, Dan, is great as well. Both of these gentlemen represent ESS very well and balance service AND compassion. I have storage at another ESS out of state and the level of service doesn’t compare to what Dan and Nyle provide. Excellent clean place - friendly staff. Dan was the best! Stores my stuff a year and came back to the country and everything was perfect. Renting and moving out was a breeze. Easy spot off the freeway.
