Apparently we arrived at a time they werent too happy to take the order even though the open sign was still flashing at about 8:30 (when Google says they close at 9) since we watched the guy board up the place at 8:40. The only reason we came across this place is cause we were headed home cause the line down the street at mango tango was long and not moving and this place caught my eye out of desperation. So my wife reluctantly parked in front and we ordered. Now I realize we should have just waited at mango tango or gone home instead. Our total was 6.50 so my wife gave him 9 dollars cause they dont take credit or debit (which had me feeling maybe they were a legit snow cone stand lol) and he picked up the 2 dollars shed left him real rude as if she forgot her money or all he was about to do wasnt gonna be pour some syrup on ice. Moments go by before the lady sitting in front with some people walks in from the back and starts helping him make our order (guess they were slammed with all three customers; me, my wife, and some other guy). As we watch my wife says I dont trust this. It looks like they just bought this place cause its about to be summer and wanted to make some quick money. So I laugh it off thinking surely not, right? Wrong. What she said is exactly how these snow cones tasted. They give you a spoon and straw as if you were gonna need the spoon for more than just breaking through the tough outer layer of ice and drink the rest of what I imagine to be city water mixed with an excess of syrup to try and drown out that odessa flavor. We were both able to finish about maybe half before we decided the rest just wasnt worth it. I ordered a large wedding cake/pina colada and she ordered a medium wedding cake/white coconut and sure hers wasnt as sad as mine but neither was appetizing. These might work if you were a six year old construction worker in dire need of hydration after spending the day in a hot 12 deep plastic pool across the street but if not ..just wait until Monday when Bahama bucks is open or wait in line at mango tango. Im not sure if its the quality of the syrup or the ice (or maybe both) but something was definitely lacking and I should have known what to expect when it didnt pass the soft ice I can lick some up with my tongue test. ProTip: you dont need that many sizes, three is a good average but 6 sizes gives off the vibe that you might not be sure what youre doing. Props to the faded do not give out free snow cones unless you own the place sign on the back door though that lets us know youve been there probably every year the exact day the weather hits 100 degrees.
