Went to Academy sports tonight to get my AFC Chiefs Championship shirt. Waited in line for 2 hours. The store handled all the fans so well. Over 500 people there. The staff was great and the check outlines ran smooth. The Chiefs are headed to the Superbowl. Ill be headed back to Academy after the Chiefs WIN the Superbowl to get another tshirt.

2nd year in a row their “machines have been down” to issue a KS whitetail tag. IE Ztheir employees are too lazy to go through the simple process. Horrible excuse of a sporting goods store. GO TO SCHEELS and save yourself the headache

This was by far the worst company I have ever worked for in more than enough ways. Management is an absolute joke and staffing is always an issue due to it.

Extremely limited selection of womens plus size clothes. There was one rack of fishing gear and one rack of workout clothes... Very disappointing.

When you have curbside pick up, I expect someone to be watching when we check in. After waiting 15 minutes we had to call by phone. We called and were told that the guy up front didn’t notify other employees. Then we waited 10 more minutes before our order was delivered. No apology for the delay and quite frankly the women (manager?) seemed put out that she had to help bring the kayak to our vehicle.She had come outside 20 minutes earlier and looked around the front of the building and parking lot. Did she not see us sitting in the curbside pickup stall? One would think she’d question if anyone was taking care of the customer.It’s after 9:00 pm on Friday evening and they weren’t busy!Alll I’m saying is you shouldn’t have to wait 25 minutes for a curbside pick up.

Love Academy Sports! Not many places sell my Bomba Socks. The only thing that would make them better is if they had a larger selection of Womens Bomba Socks.

Beware of curbside orders. I ordered a home gym online. These are selling like crazy. I went to the store, and selected the button to let them know I was there. No one came out. After roughly 15 minutes I went in to find out the status. The person at the podium right inside the door and I had looked at each other several times while I was waiting. When I went in he said that he knew that I was there but it was going to be a while. I had someone with me to help load the box just incase they couldnt help. After about 30 minutes they came out. Two kids didnt think that it would fit in my suv. I had measured prior to ordering and have a background in loading. I knew it would fit. They acted like they wanted to take it back in the store snd they didnt want to try to load it. I said it would fit and we began to lift it. While lifting a 4th employee came out and said they needed to scan my drivers license. I provided that. The item fit fine. When we got home and unloaded it we looked at the weight on the box. It was a completely separate unit and not the one i purchased. I tried calling the store and they didnt answer. I got only an. Hatted with someone who told me i would have to talk to the store. I finally reached someone the next day. We had to reload the item and take it back to the store to get the one I actually purchased.

I assume on average, I had spent somewhere in the range of $3000-$5000 a year at this store over the past 4-5 years. Always a good experience until now. November 15th I purchased $150+ Worth of merchandise along with a $10 rechargeable battery.Use the battery in a Deerfeed spreader for three days and it wouldn’t recharge. I brought the battery back less than four days later and the manager wouldn’t let me return the battery. Again I had planned on buying a display game feeder, ammunition, and a bunch of other things, along with my return... very strange that a decision would be made like this for a loyal customer. I explained this to the manager and he acted like he could care less. I’m very frustrated and will take my business elsewhere. With customer service like this, no wonder Amazon is taking over.

Awful!Ordered curbside pick up. I odered something online for curbside pickup. I got notification that my order was ready. I got to the curbside pickup parking spot and click on the link provided, I put in my parking spot # and it says a team member will be out. I waited nearly 30 mintues and no one brought my order. I called the number and was told someone will bring it right out. Waited another 15 minutes... still nothing. Called again and they said theyll bring it out in a few mintues. Waited another 15 mintues and still nothing. Called again and was told they are still trying to get the order ready. It has been over an hour and I still have not gotten my order. This is frustrating.

Bought Columbia boots here a few days ago. They had something in the insole that caused a severe allergic reaction. After wearing them twice, we decided they were not going to work. Called to ask how to return them. The lady on the phone said if they were in good shape, clean, in the box, and we had the receipt, they would take them back. The man at the store refused to take them back. Beware of buying shoes here! We have never returned a pair of shoes before, but these could NOT be worn.

I have been coming here for years and it is a fairly good place to get athletic clothing and so on. They do charge really high prices and the first few times I did buy something, it ripped within a few days which is quite the disappointing. However, this place is still overall better then other sporty-goods stores cause they staff is very friendly and make sure that you have everything you cam in looking for.

Went in this week to purchase new shorts and left with the Academy brand shorts. Unfortunately, once bringing them home and wearing once, they ripped. We brought them back to the store the next day and the staff was extremely understanding and willing to return the items without a question.The store is always clean and the staff welcoming. We will definitely be back!

They didnt have hardly any golf clubs or golfing accessories. They had plenty of hunting stuff if your into that. Looked around at other stuff but most of it is way overpriced.

Great selection of balls for everyone!Overall the best variety in sports and outdoor equipment in Johnson County while keeping things to a modest to cheap price. Scheels or Bass Pro may have better specialized items but they cant beat the deals you find here.The staff is abundant, helpful, and professional.

I purchased a Taurus PT1911 at Academy a year and a half ago for $500 and its one of the best purchases Ive ever made! They have the cheapest and widest selection of ammunition so I always stop here for a refill after hitting the range. If youre looking to add to your collection or fill an ammo can, this is the place to do it!

I went to the front desk to ask the older gentleman if they carried swim caps this time of year. He told me, No I dont think so, we did have some in clearance but I think we are sold out. As I walked to the door a little panicked about what I was going to do, I decided to search online before leaving. A cap on sale pulled up that was available for pick up at this location within the hour. I was overjoyed! As I stood there a nice associate lady walked up and asked if I needed help (should have got her name). I told her that I was looking for a cap but that I found one online. She said that she knew exactly where some were and offered to assist me with the location. She took me right to them, showed me my options and even grabbed my online order and processed it. I was able to get home quickly and get what I needed at a great price!! That is top notch customer service!!! I would recommend training all staff members to know what you guys carry.

Have basically cut their soccer section down by 80%.Soccer quality was already not great but now theres no options as well.Do the people in charge not realize that kansas city has the biggest youth soccer population in the country?! Thats a fact not an exaggeration.If their soccer qualitybof shoes, balls, gesr was better quality more peoplebwould by from them
