I have been seeing Dave Heslington for guitar repairs for years. He is truly one of the very best techs with extremely fair pricing. He has a way of making friends, and making me and everyone else around feel welcomed around the store. Dave also has such great knowledge of music gear, and truly makes Best In Music one of the best music stores in the state. I always take my business here when possible.Best In Music has an amazing selection of gear, including any Fender guitar you could want. I had a special order guitar that had major delays on Fenders end. Dave, and the rest of the staff did the best they could to keep me updated, and when the guitar finally arrived Dave went above and beyond to make sure I was thrilled with the guitar. I spent some time at the main store of Best In Music. What a great store. They have everything you need for your musical enjoyment and learning. I was so impressed with the young staff. We have been here a few times now to go to the concert hall for our kids. It is a pretty small place but it does the job. There is a large selection of sheet music available for any instrument you have. The store is a bit cluttered but the staff was extremely helpful to find what I was looking for. I picked up some new guitar strings and as a beginner they were able to point me in the right direction for what I needed.

Great music selection, always willing to help me find a specific musical composition.I rated only 4 stars because I prefer when music stores allow me to sit down and play through the music. No one has ever offered me that chance. Either they dont allow it, or they do and havent mentioned it. That should be a standard practice when buying music.

My husband was looking to purchase a new guitar, and Anthony, the worker there, was very helpful. He understood the fine details and explained everything clearly. Recently bought one of my bucketlist guitars from them, a Martin D-28. Everyone I interacted with was fantastic. Fair price, great service and overall a wonderful experience. Anthony, Ben, Markus and Dave, thanks for taking care of me. I love the guitar and will be back for that OM-21 someday.

I am sorry to say that my experience in this store was sub-par and incredibly dissatisfying. The series of unfortunate events goes like this: First day. I take a classical guitar for a setup and inspection. I point out several problems I noticed, and request that the guitar be inspected and left recital ready. Please, identify any underlying problems, if any, so I can decide whether to keep it or sell it with full disclosure to potential buyers. Problems I pointed out to the repair tech: check the truss rod (this he did on the spot). Check the action to bring it to 4mm and 3mm with no fret buzz. Dress the higher frets for rough ends (treble side), including the inner tip of the highest fret (extra fret in latest classical guitar designs). Fix G string intonation problem by microtuning the bone saddle at the bridge. OK, no problem done deal! Day 2. I come back to get the instrument. I notice the strings (new set I provided) were tied to the bridge with curiously sloppy knots, but I decide to ignore that. I take it home, I notice fret buzz on the 5th string, on the A sharp note, that wasnt there before. The inner side of the extra fret has not been dressed as requested. The strings are new, but they do not stay in tune, regardless of how many adjustments I try. The guitar is humidified, btw. It could be the unconventional knots in the bridge, I think, but I am more concerned about the fret buzz and the undressed fret. Day 3. I call back. I take the guitar to the store once more. David (the tech) apologizes profusely for the oversight and assures me he will get to work on the fret buzz and the undressed fret on Monday (it was a Friday), free of charge. Monday, Tuesday, go by. Wednesday! (they may have lost my number?). I call. The guitar was ready. Great communication. David tells me with a worried look on his mask-less face the frets were all over the place from the 7th fret down to the 12th. I wonder why such a grave problem was not detected in the first paid-for inspection. A case of proactive customer service perhaps? He has worked on the frets, he insists, a job which would normally cost $80! Wait, you notice this severe problem and you did not think of calling the owner first, to let him know of the situation and explain the options and costs available? Now I am going to get charged an additional $35 to fix this. I was told there would be no charge, but I am in favor of compensating professionals for services rendered. Besides, that was supposed to be an $80 job, so why complain? As long as the guitar is recital-ready… I agree to pay, of course, but can I try it before I leave?. I dig in on each note to make sure the guitar wont break on me if the piece requires a Forte or a Fortissimo and, not only the A sharp keeps buzzing, now several notes from the 12th fret down on the 6th string suffer from an even louder rattle (they were silent before). Concerned, I point out the additional fret buzz, and the tech has the audacity to blame the buzzing on my playing technique. This was the telling sign of the kind of musical experts I am dealing with here. I have fallen among complete amateurs! By now the tech has rudely started talking to another customer and turned his back on me, while the matter remains unresolved. I pay and leave for the sake of civility. I will leave it up to the potential customers to decide, but I will have to look for a real luthier capable of working in classical guitars in Utah. One has to know ones limitations and this service was a total disgrace. If you can’t work on classical guitars, say so and be transparent from the outset. I am including photos of the curious tying technique at the bridge, the savage filing of the saddle, the blue tape remains left on the neck as a souvenir of the high level of craftmanship at play here, and a snapshot of the extra fret “dressing”. Stay clear from this “establishment” if you care for your instrument. And to make things more unforgettable, this week we celebrate the birth of J. S. Bach.

We love this store for all our music needs. Our household plays a large variety of instruments and receives instruction here as well. The owners are awesome people and the staff are always friendly. If they dont have what you need they have always been willing to order it for me. Highly recommend this music store.

Bought a new Taylor here today. I interacted with four people including the owner. Never had a better experience in a guitar shop. They were helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. They got me set up with everything I needed. I drove down from up north based on their selection of instruments and was glad I did. They never made me feel like they were “too cool” for me, which you can get from some other guitar shops. Thanks to the entire team!

These guys really know their instruments. They offer music classes and they are especially good at tuning Electric and Acoustic Guitars too.Also, the tongue drums shown in the picture make a very awesome zen type sound. Its nice to hear them played.Highly recommended.

I’ve always loved Best In Music. I’ve been coming here for years. They are my go-to for buying sheet music locally. One thing I really like is that you can test out the sheet music in the store on their pianos and guitars so you know what you’re getting. The employees here are pretty helpful and outgoing. I felt like I was getting solid advice when making a guitar purchase recently, so I left feeling confident I got the best bang for my buck.

Got a guitar setup... Ive played guitar for 16 years and had a number of setups done on my guitars and David knocked it out of the park! Very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job, I bought this guitar used a few years ago and it has never played this good!

For a small store they have everything you need and if they dont have it they can get it. We go there to buy sheet music very couple of months. They have a piano we can use to try out the sheet music. Very knowledgable staff and they even have a recital room.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I bought a builders edition acoustic from them on a promotion by Taylor a few months back. Best in music offered an amazing deal on top which made it possible for me to get my dream guitar for an incredible price. A few months after, I noticed a minor defect with the guitar case. Marcus was very helpful and reached out to Taylor to get it replaced quickly. The other tune-ups, lessons, and support they provide make an amazing value.

This is hands down one of the best guitar stores I have visited. I needed some guitars for a class I was teaching and Ellie was super quick to find me guitars that sounded good and fit my budget. I discovered this gem of a guitar shop when it hosted a Taylor Road Show in October 2019. There are lots of good guitar shops in Salt Lake City, but Best in Music in Orem is a step above the competition. They carry all of the brands I like: Fender, Taylor, Martin, Teton, Kala, etc. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and not bothersome. No one will be staring at you the entire time you play. They do offer product recommendations, which is how I discovered Teton - my next guitar purchase. I drive down from Bountiful once a month and inevitably return home with something in the trunk. Awful for my budget, excellent for musicians in Utah. Go support Best in Music!

Awesome shop! I spoke with the owner who patiently helped me identify the guitar of my dreams (Taylor 418e). He walked through the pros and cons of different models and gave me lots of time to hear each instrument and get a feel for them. I left with confidence that I made the right choice which is important when investing in a high end instrument. I also have looked online at the pricing of the guitar I purchased, and I feel like I got an excellent deal! Simply put, dont waste time going anywhere else, head straight to this shop if you want knowledgable folks to help you find the right instrument at a great price.

This is really THE guitar store, but it has also been my main destination as a piano teacher because of how well-stocked the sheet music is. Marcus and the staff are amazingly talented at what they do and today, gave my son a thorough tour of acoustic guitars. My son has played on a used Yamaha for years and it has sound issues in the upper register, so we wanted to see him get into a better instrument as he hones his talent. The Taylor guitars were his favorite, and the amps were fantastic too. Finding the guitar of your dreams is a life event, and he found it in Walnut wood. It is gorgeous!!!! He was given two free lessons and a nice guitar case with the purchase, as well as a lesson on proper humidifying of the instrument. We couldnt be happier. I recommend this shop to anyone thinking of purchasing a guitar.

Dave, the guitar tech, is the man! I was sad when he left a different music shop that I used to go to, but was thrilled when I saw him here. Their new management is very quick to respond to our purchase order requests and have really helped us out when weve been in a rush to get music ordered.I consider Best in Music to be an integral partner in our effort to bring music to the community.They have a decent selection of choral works in their main, North Orem location. Local church musicians will particularly appreciate their sacred choral selections.They also have a wide variety of solo instrumental music featuring both traditional and modern composers. Ive purchased everything from Celtic Fiddle tunes to Recorder music.

I was just at the 800 North store and the selection of american-made telecasters was amazing.. Ive seen guitars there that I havent seen any place else. They even have the new Acoustasonic Fenders.

We have been coming here for years for music. We also have our family Christmas recital here every year. We always receive exceptional care and you can’t beat the price. I once was looking for music. They didn’t have an uncommon arrangement I was looking for, but went to the trouble to find a place online I could purchase it. Always above and beyond!

Ive tried to support these guys since they sold the store to new ownership, but my experience with the new employees is less and less impressive. I have been buying here for years, but from here on out I will buy from Days Murray in Lehi (a drive for me, but always knowledgable service) or purchase online. Not worth the rudeness and trying to find music from employees who cant pronounce Bach.

Fantastic service, knowledgeable staff and good prices. During their frequent sales, youll get the best price anywhere, even on custom orders. Certain staff do seem to get commission of some type, but Ive never found them to be pushy or use high pressure tactics. The owner is onsite and working amongst the other staff almost every day and is really passionate about his work. I highly recommend Best in Music!

Great service. My experience here was great. I own a couple acoustics and stopped here to pick up my first electric. The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable and friendly. He wasnt pushy at all, and let me try out several guitars and amps while I got a feel for what I was looking for in my first electric.

I decided it was time to learn something new and wanted to learn to play the guitar. I went into this store as a complete beginner and honestly feeling a bit nervous. They helped me without making me feel like a rookie. They exuded love for music and got me very excited about my new adventure. This place is incredible. The prices are every bit as good, or better in a lot of cases, than what youll find online. The vast selection is surprising for the size of the store, especially for Taylor guitars. The Guitar Center in SLC doesnt even have this variety. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. With my instrument, lack of attention to detail when lowering the action and resetting the bridge pin correctly.Result:I called in, explained in detail that the bridge pin had split, which was causing it to pop out due to it being set incorrectly initially. I asked them to replace the bridge pin for free, I was asked to bring the guitar in. I decided not to bring it it, as it was more of an inconvenience for me. I decided to purchase the bridge pins here at Mountain Rock Music in Springville and replaced them myself.

I went to my grandkids piano recital here. They have a room for that with different level seating. It was so nice. And then we got to look at all the cool things they had in the music store. Lots of sheet music!

This is hands down one of the best guitar shops Ive ever been to. They have everything from $15,000 guitars all the way down to entry level. HUGE variety of guitars and amps. The place is huge too. Didnt even know it existed until today. Ill definitely be back often!

Excellent!! I decided to sign my son up for their music classes, specifically violin. His violin teacher, Tracy, is incredible, she clearly has a lot of experience with the violin, but she is also amazing at making learning fun for the kids. My son loves going to violin lessons. I am very impressed with her. I highly recommend Best In Music!!

Awesome place with a calm, reserved feel to it. They have a great collection of equipment of all types and they had some ridiculously generous deals on a lot of it. The best thing about the place, though, was what wasn’t there. I was not greeted with cranked up amps blaring Metallica riffs and three ‘drummers’ competing with who could drown the other out (Guitar Center, anyone?).I didn’t get any of the usual contemptuous and condescending vibes from the employees (Guitar Center again, anyone?). It was nice. I recommend this place. I will certainly be back.

I bought a new electric rig there and Kevin made it happen, even though I did not have enough to cover the whole bill. He was willing to negotiate with me so that I left ready to play. The prices are really competitive, the customer service is great, and they will cover all repairs and adjustments for as long as you own your guitar.I had been coming to Best in Music for months, trying to figure out the setup that was right for me. Everyone I met was always willing to help me work through different sounds until I felt comfortable in knowing exactly what I wanted. I have only really been to the Summer Hays location and the 800 N store, but all of my experiences have been very positive.It is really hard to go wrong when you are working with the awesome associates at Best in Music. Kevin, Breton, Zack, Cali, you all are awesome! I will definitely be coming back on a regular basis.

My experience here was excellent! Ive been in over the last several weeks to 2 of their locations to try different guitars. Ive always played acoustic except for 15 years ago when I tried electric for a while. I wanted to try a hollow body electric so I tested a few. Michael helped me with a lot of information I needed to get the most out of the Grestch I had settled on after shopping around.Ive been playing it for a couple weeks now and everything he said was true and very helpful. I cant recommend this place enough and will always go here for future music needs.

Great music shop to pick up materials for piano and voice lessons. I have been coming here for the past four years and have never had a problem finding the book I need. Sometimes a few bucks pricier than competitor stores or online. However, if you just want to look around or need a book fast, this is your store. I would recommend it.
