My drink (hibiscus tea) was delicious. I have to say that Im actually shocked that they have been open for over a year. I work around the corner and never noticed it (I drive by it everyday on the way to my parking garage)All I will say, is that when I walked in, I thought they had just opened because it felt sparse. Everything was very clean and neat and it looked like it was just a brand new store. No menu board or decor. Kind of felt weird when I found out they had been there a year! I thought they were still unpacking to move in!They had a choice of 2 pastries. Looked a little sad in the large glass case. Hopefully they will have more choices after covid. It would be nice to be able to grab a bagel or croissant or even a donut on the way in to work.
They have the best iced coffee (if youre into light/medium roast coffee)! They tend to use lighter roast coffee, so the flavor is quite floral and vibrant. Lovely atmosphere too - would highly recommend!
Im a mere coffee plebeian, although I try to check out smaller, local coffee shops whenever I travel. I tried a lot of coffee in Philly during my trip. Some just OK, but many were good. Cogito was by far the best, smoothest coffee I had. This place has a hip, modern, minimalistic style which I personally love. The regular latte was lit. I went back and got an oatmilk latte, equally lit. The baristas were cool and friendly as well. Ill be raving about this place for a while.
Make sure to visit this amazing cute & cozy place!! Their specialty coffee is delicious and the staff is super nice& knowledgeable, theyll answer all of your questions :) Grab a choc tart, support locals and have a great caffeine booster any time of the day :) Thanks Marco for being so friendly and greetings to David too ❤️
Iced coffee is really good but theres no Wi-Fi or access to a restroom. Those are two really big things in any coffee shop and a big no from me. As much as people may hate on Starbucks, at least it provides those two amenities, which are a bare minimum, really.
Philly hidden gem!! One of the best coffees in the city and open longer than other cafes
Specialty coffee, this independent is worth supporting, great coffee, high quality grinders and espresso machine, all served in a nice airy space. Worth seeking out.
Had the tesla blend in straight espresso... perfect cup.
What a hidden gem! Nice team of people and the coffee is so so good. I had a cortado, and personally I prefer it to be a little warmer, but the mouth feel and taste were on point! I took off one star because theres no pastry/ breakfast option.
Best oak milk iced latte! Great space for business!

Lots of inside seating with electrical outlets and good coffee!
I used to really love Cogito, they were close to my apartment and had great coffee and tea. Unfortunately right before COVID, I bought a tea and sat down by the windows to do work and the guy working there came up to me asked me to find a different seat because they didnt like people doing work on their computers by the window? It was very strange and I was embarrassed, especially after buying something. I thought I had misheard him because it seemed like such a strange rule..for a coffee shop. There were no other seats open so I had to just leave. I feel badly that they have lost a lot of business since COVID, but I wont ever be going back because of this.
Wonderful coffee! The employees there were super friendly and helpful. The cappuccino I got was perfectly crafted and I hope to visit again soon.
Stopped in to this new coffee shop in Center City. I had an iced latte with almond milk and a almond croissant. The croissant was just the way I love them - flaky on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. The espresso was so delicious. You can really taste the difference in the beans!I really liked the ambience of the shop. Lots of natural light and plenty of places to sit to study or catch up with an old friend. Will certainly be my go to stop every time I’m in Philly!
Excellent coffee and friendly staff!
Really cute place, nice employees. Amazing drinks as well, of course (:
Love the super chill atmosphere, cappuccino was amazing, along with the staff being super kind and respectful!
Let me just start off by saying AMAZING!!! Best coffee is center city Philadelphia! make sure to say hi to the super friendly staff and try out the espresso hot chocolate (dark choc ofc). great vibes, great people, and great coffee!
Good coffee, great service. Prices are a bit high, but that’s to be expected at a 3rd wave coffee shop. Their drip is excellent and their beans are top notch. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, their pastry and sandwich selection is limited (almost none). Hopefully that will return soon
Very delicious. The service was helpful and kind. This place has a cool design.
Strong ice coffee, maybe too strong for my taste. A large was $4. I like Starbucks ice coffee better
Seriously. Best coffee in Philly. Ive worked with the best coffee roasters in the world and Cogito is up there with the best. Love it!
Yummy coffee, friendly staff, good start to my morning!
Tasty oat milk latte and biscotti courtesy of Lost Bread Co. Four stars only because it cost $1.00 extra to swap oat milk for cows milk in the latte.
Amazing quality roaster!
Really like the place and they have great coffee. Unlike what some reviewers said, I like the no-laptop policy over the weekend. It’s not a work space you’re rating, it’s the quality of food and drinks...
There’s a policy about not being able to work on a laptop in the front area of the cafe. I was coming here so often because it’s a nice place to sit and have some decent coffee and get some work done in a nice space but it’s really not a good place for that anymore. The back area where laptops are allowed gets really crowded and it’s hard to find a seat. It’s kind of a shame but hey it’s their cafe they can have whatever rules they want. The coffee is decent but very expensive and not worth it to stop in just to get it to go - you might as well go elsewhere. There are a lot of other coffee places in the area with good coffee, WiFi, and more places to sit and work on a laptop or do whatever else you need to do.
The space is so beautiful, I greatly appreciate the natural light. Stopped in on a whim for a cappuccino and it was perfect (and I used to be a barista, so I take cappuccinos seriously). I will definitely become a regular here, and can see myself catching up with friends or writing or reading in the space.
Hands down the best cappuccino in the city. The coffee is delcious! Smooth, chocolatey, rich. The vibe is excellent and the interior design is gorgeous. New favorite coffee shop in the city.
Great coffee! High quality mocha (no overly sweet syrup)
I returned to Cogito Coffee this morning with the intent of enjoying a cup of coffee and doing some work. After I purchased the coffee, and set up in an open table at the front of the cafe, an employee came over and said I had 3 choices: 1) I could move to the back of the store; 2) I could stop working on my laptop; or 3) I could leave. Why?, I asked. Apparently, there is a new policy at Cogito, where the cafe forbids any paying customer from work on any electronic device larger than a phone in the front of the cafe. So, if you read a hard-copy text book at the front of the cafe for hours, this is fine. But, if your textbook is electronic and on a tablet, you are forbidden from reading the same textbook in the front of the store. In this particular instance, I would have moved to the back of the cafe, except there was no space in the back with a table to work on. So, I was given a to go cup and left. The arbitrary nature of this policy is the problem. Using a 5 inch electronic device (phone) is acceptable, but a 8 inch tablet is not. The employee also conveniently wait until after I ordered the food/coffee to tell me about this policy. I would refrain from going to this place, unless you enjoy the embarrassment of an employee asking you to pack up and leave in front of a crowded store for a totally arbitrary reason. What is the mentality of a person/business who comes up with a policy like this? Goodness knows what new rules will be introduced next week; I dont care to find out.
Awesome coffee, friendly staff, very clean place, spacious and good food. Need to say no more!! Joseph.
Wonderful coffee great space! I love the no laptop policy in the front of the store. It’s so fun to hear people chatting it up! #sharedexperience
I have been going to Cogito since it opened a few months ago. The space has always been a great place to get work done, but be aware of the new policy they instituted for weekends and holidays banning electronic use in the front of the store to promote conversation. I am giving one star because of the way the manager informed us of their new policy. There were 6 tables in the front using laptops, we ordered a cup-for-here and then sat down and unpacked our laptops. The manager ran over and told us that we were not allowed to use our laptops and had to move to the back of the shop, which was already full. Keep in mind there are 6 other tables of people that were also using their laptops, and therefore telling us to move to the back was basically a polite way of asking us all to leave. We had to pour our coffees into a to-go cup and repack everything up. A warning about the new policy prior to ordering would have been all we needed, and we would have gladly taken our business elsewhere. Will never go back her due to the rude manner in which this was handled. If they wanted to make more space for non-laptop using customers they will have an excess of empty tables from now on.
I have been to Cogito a few times since they opened. The coffee is consistently good and I enjoy the food menu. The mortadella sandwich is very tasty and the olive tapenade is a nice touch. It’s not huge but it will fill me up for lunch. I’ve also tried the espresso hot chocolate which was recommended to me by a friend and that was delicious. I have noticed that there’s been more room to sit down since the new laptop rule was instated. I actually found this be really nice and since there were more seats open I was able to have a colleague meet me at Cogito last Sunday for a quick work meeting. We easily found an open table in the front which used to be rare. Overall, my experiences at Cogito have been enjoyable. It’s become a regular coffee spot of mine and I’m looking forward to trying more of the food items.
Beautiful new coffee shop that really breaks away from the grab-and-go atmosphere of a Starbucks for a much more relaxing setting with lounge seating that perfectly captures the chilled vibes of Croatian coffee culture. The staff couldnt be nicer and the coffee was delicious to boot - great pick for any student or professional looking for a break
Friendly staff with a large, well-lit space. Their pastries were great and they offered a free coffee with purchase of their whole roasted beans. This area desperately needed a coffee shop that isn’t a Starbucks and Cogito fills that void.
BEWARE: This coffee shop employs Laptop Police, who will wait until you have purchased your coffee, sit down set up your laptop, then come over and tell you that you cant work on your laptop in their coffee shop, and you must stop working on your laptop or leave. I have never felt less welcome at a business establishment in my life. It was not only uncomfortable for me, but also for everyone else who had to watch me pack up and leave.
Definitely a best place to have a great cup of coffee in Philly! Will be visiting Croatia this summer and cant wait to try the coffee there.
Extensive high-qualify coffee menu. Food is pretty standard lineup of baked goods. The space is great: well lit, spacious, modern, and good WiFi. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Overpriced, crowded in the back of the cafe, but extremely empty in the front. Pastries are sub-par. Employees have an attitude about them like this is some UNESCO world heritage site--and the customers should feel grateful that they are permitted to step foot on this hallowed ground. Hard pass on this pretentious place.
There is a gym above the coffee shop and the sound of weights being dropped on top of me made it hard to get any work done. They also dont allow studying with electronics in the front half of the cafe on weekends or holidays so space can be limited. The pastries are not great, burnt and flaked everywhere. The coffee is good but overpriced.
See other reviews about not being allowed to sit in the front if you’re on a laptop. It’s nice inside, but I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re hoping to get work done.
Amazing coffee!
Cozy place, really friendly staff and superb coffee. Totally recommend
Been to cogitos a couple times now. Place is clean and well lit. Staff is friendly and prompt with the orders.I dont drink coffee, but they do have hot chocolate options in sweet and dark flavors, both are delicious. They do have a laptop rule (i.e. no laptops by the window), but theres great counter space and plenty of table spaces with outlets and wifi available in the back half of the store. Great for studying or setting up shop to work remotely for the day.
Its great place with great coffee and Im glade that you can meet with friends there and talk!
Best coffee Ive had in a long time in a bright and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend.
My Cheers.
Best cup of coffee Ive had in a long time.
Coffee was delicious. You forgot about the time you spent its really chill coffeeshop to be.
Great americano ! ☕️
Very nice atmosphere, delicious pastries, and of course great coffee.
Coffee is delicious and the service makes it stand out
Delicious coffee and friendly staff
CogitoCons: Rude staff, overpriced coffee, dry flaky foodPros: I dont ever have to go back!
Perfecto ..love Daisy
Ive hung out to work on stuff several times, new fav coffee shop in the neighborhood.
Amazing coffee! :)
I like that on weekends and holidays there is a separate area for socializing and laptop working.
Nice interior.
Too expensive
Nice to spot, glad they finally reopened. Coffee is good. No wifi available for guests, even though you can see their wifi signal exists...
Its the only place in Philadelphia where I had real coffee. I think the design of the cafe is magnificent. Well done!
