A great oasis of coffee as there isn’t a decent specialty coffee shop around for miles. They serve Philly’s own Reanimator Coffee and I wish lived locally to make this my home spot. There is some seating surprisingly with a bar near a window and normal seating in adjacent room. Parking can be a little tough but with the trip.

Great coffee and treats, everyone is extremely kind and helpful. The service is both safe and friendly, you can tell that they really care about the locals and their neighborhood. Definitely give them a try if you haven’t already, you’ll be hooked!

I love the natural wood tables and the large open room with big windows. The coffee and the baked goods are always great. And they have cool t shirts for sale

This is my favorite cafe and coffee shop. Joe, the owner, is a real pleasure to deal with going into the cafe. I can tell her takes pride (rightfully so) in working with local makers for the aesthetic of the space. The space is relaxing, clean, and not overwhelming as an atmosphere. Perfect to get my work done or have a quiet date. Fits right into Port Richmond, and offers just enough for food and drink (not too much, thank goodness! I dont like being overwhelmed by options.) The coffee is perfect, and served one wonderful ceramic trays. This place is the best- give it a shot!

Only been here once but the staff was pleasant, the coffee was delicious and its just a nice, cozy spot for a cafe. They also have locally roasted coffee for sale which is great, including one that the proceeds benefit the SPCA which is definite bonus points for me. Of course I bought some. Ill come back for sure when Im in the area again.

Locally, the kind of cafe I wanna go to does not exist- apart from THIS one. The flat whites are perfectly pitched. Full of true flavor. I didn’t eat there too often, but when I did- the bagels were great. You toast them yourself and help yourself to cheese, butter etc.The cafe has a nice ambience. Contemporary, but not pretentious.The best thing about the cafe is the owner Joe as he cares about his business and cares about us- his customers! It is very difficult to have a short conversation with Joe. He is from Port Richmond and knows everything and everyone locally. So if you are new to town or just visiting he is a Yoda like sage of wisdom. Loves his music too. It’s so nice to enjoy a cafe with great products where the owner is fully present, informed and interested in his customers. Highly recommended.

Small shop but lots of space dedicated for sitting which I like. There was enough room for me to come in with a stroller. Coffee was delicious. I got an iced coffee and it was wonderful. I will definitely be back again soon.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Philadelphia. The coffee drinks are fantastic craft brews, the beans they sell are great, and the owner is a real joy to chat with. Friendly people and comfortable intimate space. Id go there every day if it was a little closer. Love yourself and go there ASAP!

What an amazing coffee shop. Philadelphia, let alone Port Richmond, could not have asked for a better gem of a coffee shop. This space is to me the ideal cafe-delicious coffee and treats, a stylish spot, and top notch baristas. I want the word to get out about what a fantastic coffee shop this is, but I also want it to be a well-kept secret so that it doesnt get *too* busy!

Great coffee and the lighting in the afternoon is magic. It makes the whole place come to life! The guys always play great tunes and welcome you as you walk in. Joe has cultivated a community you want to be a part of.

I am not a coffee conisour, but this is my favorite cup of coffee in the city. They use Reanimator coffee and most importantly take the time to brew a good cup. This isnt 30 second mass produced lattes. My favorite part is how well their drinks are balanced. The Carmel lattes taste like both Carmel and coffee and are not candy sweet so you get a good amount of the roasty coffee tones and the nice sweetness of the carmel. The guys that run the place are also super friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Such a cute spot! Very airy feeling with high ceilings, lots of seating with big window views, beautiful design, definitely not stuffy or pretentious. The staff is chill, and great at what they do. For sure a “come up” for Port Richmond. ✌️☕️🍩

Quality, well-prepared coffee and espresso drinks. The coffee is really good, but I prefer their Americano with a decent amount of creamer. Its really a step above with a great pick-me-up strength but not burned or bitter tasting. The table area is kinda plain but bright and clean. They always have a few stacks of local papers to read and some other stuff. Just a nice relaxing spot to sit for a few and get some quick work done or regroup.

Great products across the board and perhaps more importantly the service is impeccable. The guys who work there clearly care about your experience and the owner is one of the nicest and sincere guys that you will encounter during your day. Do yourself a favor and make this a regular stop.

Great place to grab a classic drink or try something new. Owners are constantly adding to the menu and very helpful when suggesting new drinks. Definitely a hidden gem away from all the hustle and bustle!

Just back from my old neighborhood Port Richmond. I was delighted to find RiverWards Cafe on Richmond Street. The coffee is outstanding and the atmosphere is fantastic. A nice place to hang out, read and drink great java. Finally a classic cafe in the neighborhood! Ill certainly be back next time I am in the area.

I did a disservice to the nice folks @ River Wards by giving 2 stars. I revisited them the other day. 1st time only my riders went in. The cafe is nice, clean & intimate with internet. The street is tough to bike on, but if I lived in Port Richmond River Ward would be my coffee stop.

Ive only had their Cafe mocha which I think is better than Starbucks. Im a light roast coffee drinker and all of theirs are too bold for my taste.They have excellent pastries.

Nice place. Pastries are great but I was really disappointed with their coffee. I am a coffee-holic so I was thrilled when I saw we were getting a cafe in the hood. This place is situated about halfway between Hinge and Mercer Cafe both of which serve much better coffee.

Fantastic place, great for conversation, work, to start your day or for a mid day pick me up. Get the lavender French vanilla iced latte, you wont regret it.

Probably the best place to get coffee drinks in Port Richmond. The prices are reasonable. So far I have tried the Americano, cortado and the orange tea. The espresso is a little acidic but thats just me. There is a lot of Port Richmond history displayed inside for those who are interested. Overall, a nice gem that deserves a visit.

Im at River Wards Cafe using their free WiFi now to write this review one week after opening day. Im happy to see it appears to be well-received by the neighborhood already. After I locked my bike up on the corner, I entered to be greeted by the staff and informed that a bike stable out front of the store was in the works. I really dig the urban feel of the decor, the simplified menu, and the glass garage door that opens up to let the breeze in(yet not much noise from Richmond Street). I had the Americano and a croissant and Ill be back for more soon.

Definitely the best coffee shop in Port Richmond, and playing an important role in the beautification of Richmond St. and all of Port Richmond. Joe is a great guy running a great neighborhood business. They use Reanimator coffee from Fishtown and do a great job in preparing it. The Cortado is my go-to. Pastries are great as well. Good airy space with plenty of outlets.

River Wards Cafe is a harbinger of the revitalization of Richmond Avenue and the revival of Port Richmond. Its also in itself something our hood desperately needed: a spot for good coffee and FREE WIFI north of Lehigh Ave! The tables are a bit small, but theres outlets & internet & cool music playing. The chai latte is excellent; so is the owner and his vision for the community. For folks who dont have internet at home or just want somewhere in Port Richmond/Harrowgate area to do homework, this is your best option.Note: The state of bike parking on Richmond Ave leaves much to be desired, but the owner is currently exploring solutions to the issue.Excited for when Richmond comes back to life & we need bike parking more then ever. Until then, Im sticking around & supporting this shop and its forward-thinking employees.
