Came in for breakfast on a quiet Saturday morning. Food was absolutely amazing! Ordered the Crispy Dog Breakfast and a black coffee, took a little long for it to reach my table but it was definitely worth the wait. Two spicy-sweet sausages wrapped in fried corn tortillas and covered in scrambled eggs, salsa, and a shockingly spicy dragon sauce. Never had anything quite like this but Ill definitely be back to get it again.
The vibe was great! The food was just ok for me but I think that was more due to us asking to leave certain things off. Im sure the hot dogs were meant to be eaten with all the fixings, so leaving something off could really alter the intended taste. I still finished it so it obviously wasnt too bad.
I finally got a chance to try this place. The menu is very interesting, they have options i wouldve never thought of for a hotdog. Im glad i tried it out and the fried pickles are definitely not your regular fried pickles, they are soooo thick! Also, the best part is that the franks dont taste like your average grocery store franks.
Been able to travel to many cities inside and outside US, never found a place i like more, awesome food, awesome people, great service, Brad is a great guy, doesnt matter what specific preferences you have, there is a combination for u, also, Donuts, they fly, so get early if you wanna taste them.
YOU HAVE TO GO HERE!!! The hot dogs are good and so are the donuts. The donuts are made traditionally with a flair. We had the Kitchen sink, old fashion, lavender jam, maple bacon, peanut butter, traditional chocolate. The lavender jam was my favorite (middle right). The place had live music and alcohol out on the patio. It was a fun weekend spot. Inside they had pictures of rescue dogs up for adoption. Really fun place that has not only good food, service, and culture but helps the community. Will be back soon!
I love the Bear, dont ever change it! Great selection of craft beer, courteous and Helpful staff.
First impression is that the parking is very very chaotic. Had to park away and walk up, and I get it, its downtown so I was able to look past that. However, coming inside the atmosphere/seating seems very confused, like this entire restaurant is having an identity crisis. The food wasnt good in my opinion. The hotdog served in a Naan was just a weird experience. The Naan was cold and had a store bought taste to it, and the brat inside was luke warm because of the Naan being cold. We also ordered poutine and it was just average. The fries, cheese and gravy together just gave a flavor of salt and nothing else unfortunately. This place is kind of gimmicky and maybe thats why its so popular, but I dont think Ill be recommending it.
What a Central Phoenix gem! Fabulous menu, truly one of a kind!I beg of you, try it!
The owner, Brad, went a long way to correct an issue. Our food was amazing, but the customer service was even better! Thank you, and we will definitely be back!!
Dont let Hot Dog in the name fool you. This place is so much more and then some. Short Leash has been open for the past two weekends with limited hours for take out only. I have gone there both weekends. I rode my motorcycle over 50 miles round trip and was so glad that I did. I was able to order and have a seat on the shaded patio with music playing. The food is delicious as ever and I am so happy that they are doing a soft opening in order to let people know they are open again. They will expand hours as needed soon enough and eventually I am sure they will open the inside dining area with social distancing. Great place with resilient owners and friendly staff. Support local businesses!
We love this place !! Creative and Wide variety of donuts, dogs & sides. Beer selection is on point! The owners and staff are super cool and treat everyone kindly. * Dog friendly patio*
Best lil neighborhood famy patio around. Menu is unique and wonderful. Service is excellent, and drinks are plentiful!
First visit to Short Leash Hotdogs, very yummy and must go back. Blackberry lemon milkshake was perfect for a hot summer day. Poutine had a good balance of flavors and I wanted to steal the bowl from my friends. Sunny bratwurst was good too. Lots more to try on the menu!
Excellent service, great patio and waa perfect with live music and everything. Food was great, overall a wonderful experience.
Had lunch at Short Leash while on our way to Hell City Tattoo Convention. I did a build your own with the all beef with Mango Chutney, diced tomatoes & mustard. Structural it was not sound, but it tasted really good. The husband got a Chicago dog. We each got a side order of fried pickles. They are too die for.
The service was fast and staff was very friendly. As a vegetarian, I had s lot of options. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend the mac n cheese flight (fyi one has bacon if ur veg), fried pickles, cauliflower wings and arugula salad. There is parking and an outdoor patio in the back.
Great place to grab a bite to eat with a wise selection or beer and booze to choose from. Food was wonderful and an overall great place to meet with friends and hang out. Had a fantastic time hanging out on the patio, got to meet a few dogs people brought and listen to the live music this evening. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place to meet and hang out.
So I had to call them today becuz Google showed they were closed. The gal confirmed they were open Fri, Sat, & Sundays only for now.Im updating my review, I changed my mind & gave 3 stars. The staff were super great, & very nice, they played great music inside, & great atmospere. When we left, there was a band setting up out in the patio, pretty cool, for it being rainy & cold. They had nice lighting out in the patio. Loved the grey wallpaper behind the register! So I wanted to try their gormet donuts 🍩& their gormet hotdogs 🌭. I got the Spicy Thai Coconut donut & it wuz damn good! 👍👍 I also tried the Black Jam, the sugar on the outside of donut made it way too sweet, it was good, but too sweet for me. My mom got the Key Lime donut, pretty darn good. We got there way too late in the day for the selection of the donuts 🍩😕. Get there when they open & theyll have all their donuts they have on their menu. 👍👍 Their breakfast menu sounded really good.I also wuz craving the Bear dog, but changed my mind for the Sunny, & my mom ordered the Igby. It took a while for the 2 dogs 2 be ready. So my mom & I checked 2 c which is which. So they messed up the order. I ended up w/the Bear wasnt impressed, didnt taste any peanut butter, & bbq sauce over powered the taste of almost everything, & asked for light sauce, lots of bacon tho. My mom ended up eating my Sunny dog, cuz we thought it was the Igby, that she originally ordered, she said it was good.Im not trying to be mean, but Costcos all beef hotdogs taste really really good. The best part of my dog was the spicy sliced pickle that was toothpicked on the outside of the dog. Was bummed, far drive from where I live. I was expecting it to knock my socks off & it didnt. Sorry guys. 😐
Only giving it a 4 because while i love sausages/hot dogs/and the like, the price is trending steep. Food is delish, first time having cauli wings and oh...my...gah! Atmosphere is comfortable and fun. Live music seems almost guaranteed at every visit.
Alright, alright, alright...the dogs are good, the donuts are yummy...but the atmosphere, live music and special treatment you get from the owners who know what the definition of good service means is what keeps me coming back. Cat, the owner is the Best!!
Fantastic filled doughnuts, we absolutely recommend the chai! Cute atmosphere and very kind staff. Will definitely be back
Brad makes the BEST dogs in town. They may seem like some super weird flavor combos, suck as The Bear which has cheese, PB and barbecue sauce and is topped with Cracker Jax, but go with it. You wont be disappointed!
Best donuts in the state of AZ! Was our first time here and we enjoyed everything from the hospitality of server Serena to the clean & open environment indoors & outdoors to the menu. Will definitely be back for more another weekend.
Great place and the hot dogs are excellent. Friendly and nice staff. Awesome atmosphere. Will definitely visit again next time in town.
Love the food, this location is much better than the last, and there was even a live performer on the day we were there. It was a really nice atmosphere .
Great little place that never disappoints. Ive had their Sunny before, which is great and very different. This time around I grabbed the Millie with a spicy dog and let me tell you, blue cheese may be one of my new fave toppings for a dog. Always great service and they have a great beer selection as well.
They have poutine, Im easy to please.
A stop at Short Leash Hotdogs & Rollover Doughnuts is a MUST! Their menu is OUT OF CONTROL! I had the fried pickles, the Bear (beef wiener with PEANUT BUTTER, smoked Gouda, bacon bbq sauce, and CRACKER JACKS!), and the Sunny (Apple Gouda wiener with grilled PEARS, prosciutto, arugula, goat cheese, and honey). See what I’m takin about? THEY KNOW FLAVOR!And their doughnuts are DELISH too! Decided to go simple with an Old Fashioned cake doughnut. A PERFECT end to an awesome meal!Kate, one of the owners, noticed how much I was enjoying my meal (commented on how such a lil guy could pack away so much food...ha!), sat down, and told me the story behind this amazing space and concept - couldn’t have been nicer!Definitely check this place out!
This place is super cute. The food is delicious too.
I agree with the sentiments of a recent reviewer: The food was some good stuff, and the drink selection here was a highlight (they even had Cheerwine soda, which is cool), but the service was lacking. Even as I read the 80 Square Feet poster that pays homage to the original food truck roots, I wondered what was amiss about the staff because I wouldnt consider tonights service/attitude as 2. Exceptional customer service. I saw the fella running the dinning room taking water to new patrons or refilling existing water cups, but my table waited so long I had to go ask the bar for a couple cups of water. This wouldnt be an issue if I hadnt seen other tables receiving this service already. Undeniably fun food, but the vibe was a solid alright at best for my recent visit.
Tasty, innovative, and filling hot dogs and treats. I got the Bear with an all beef hot dog along with an order of poutine and it was delicious. My dinner companions each ordered the Oliver which looked equally as tasty. We also shared an order of the buffalo cauliflower and it some of the most deliciously executed vegetables Ive had in my lifetime and I LOVE vegetables. Ill be back and bringing additional friends. The vibe of the place was super cool and the staff was great. Cant wait to come back.
Most incredible hot dog I have ever eaten. Try The Bear. Donuts were delicious - Staff was helpful & friendly
Amazing...I dont know why I havent gone sooner. Amazing staff, food was so delish. And the Angry Orchard is great. They have so many varieties of beer on tap (too bad Im allergic), vegetarian choices, as well as carnivore choices. For all you dog lovers you can bring them with you. I thought it was going to be really chilly on the patio but they have a chimnea with fresh logs added all the time. Such an amazing chill spot. Definitely will be back. Thank you
This is just a little side room in Short Leashs entry area. It was not clear if it would be acceptable to sit in Short Leash to eat or not. Donuts werent sweet dough, which is nice. And a very good texture. The flavors were creative. A tad expensive for basically being a counter. I would feel more comfortable with the price tag if there were fewer flies in the case and there was more seating.
I enjoy coming here for lunch. I can always find a seat, they have free wifi so I can work and eat, and the espresso drinks are great. The portions for sides are modest but food has always tasted great and i still leave full. Its counter service (order anywhere at the counter) but they bring drinks and food to you. Recommended :)
Great place for unique hot dogs in an Indian naan like bun! Taste combinations you have probably never tried and great artisan donuts too! Chill outside patio, great beers, a fun place to come and enjoy some great ambiance :-)
Eating here has made me realize how incredibly inefficient hot dog buns are. Seriously, everyone should be enjoying hot dogs on naan bread stuffed full of toppings. Speaking of toppings, WOW SO MANY CHOICES. Do you ever fantasize about eating a hot dog with fried pickles? What about mango? These probably arent things that have occurred to you but you would be very wrong.Lets talk fried pickles for a second. I consider myself a conisseur of fried pickles having grown up in the south and these are the best Ive had. Like ever. Its like multiple homemade slices of pickles thrown together in a fluffy batter and fried to crispy, fluffy perfection. Like fried pickle pillows. Other standouts of apps are the jalapeño poppers and fried green tomatoes. My only regret is not saving enough stomach space for doughnuts but I guess that just means Ill have to return over and over again.
Chill place to stop for food and drinks. Awesome menu and beer selection. Dog friendly patio. We will be back.
They were out of donuts when we arrived the food was a bit flavorless, but had a great portion amount. Could have better options.
So delicious! Unique hot dog menu and drink menu. The atmosphere is wonderful too. You won’t be disappointed.
Read the menu everything sounds great, looks great in pics, NOT GREAT IN THE MOUTH! The only enjoyable things about this place are the wall full of puppy dog pictures from loving furr parents and a couple of different choices of beers in their canned section, the rest of it they can keep it! I wouldnt even go there to hang out to play the free pool and I love to play billiards. This is the 3rd time I have tried short leash in its new location on 7th Avenue, The 1st time I came to the new location I would have given it 0 stars it was absolutely horrible!! Not only did the mixture of flavors not work together AT ALL, but honestly made me spit out the bites i did embark on, but the cold dry hard pita bread they called a NAAN bread (its NOT) that it came in made me never want to try their food again. However I love food, and have a friend who loves hot dogs so tolerated going, therefore Ive tried it multiple times again and after this 3rd time here are my personal findings. Let me say I have only once ever finished the actual hotdog inside of my food ONE TIME, I have absolutely never finished the whatever else is going on on the not Plate.Im not exactly sure what changed except for clearly part of their menu and the atmosphere! Something is lacking something is missing in this new location. Definitely the quality of food is missing in this new location, the general demeanor of the staff is less friendly as well, whereas I used to love the old location the food there seemed really, good it seemed like they couldnt go wrong with all the things that they were making in that shop most of which they dont make anymore in their new location. So while their beer selection is infused with some really delightful brews like a few Sours, good rounded IPAs, and some rotating offers, I WOULD NOT be sending any one i know there anytime soon.
Not only do they have great food, but the service is excellent. Great, friendly staff, and the manager/owner is awesome. Im glad they were able to survive the pandemic! I recommend this place whenever I can. The doughnuts are kickin, the speciality dogs rock, and the appetizers are the bees knees. I try to pay a visit about once a month, as I love the place, and the community it is in.
Short Leash never disappoints. From the dog friendly patio to the local brews they support, youre always going to have awesome service, great drinks and excellent hot dogs. Perk! The also have a great veggie dog, which my wife adores. To end it the night right, grab a Rollover doughnut on your way out.
The Sunny Dog is delicious Sunny is my Dog Grandson❤️😘
The brunch menu is super fun and yummy! Make sure you get there early for donuts on the weekend. They sell out fast.
Great food! Friendly, helpful staff! A must try for anyone!
The service THIS morning, Sunday a chick sucked but yesterday was tremendous with a bearded dude. The food AWESOME
So fun. Food was delicious. Covid set up on patio was perfect. Service was great. Loved everything about the experience.
Cats a doll. So helpful.Totally different than usual, with the dog of choice served on a pita or aka namm bread. Will come back to dog deeper into the menu.Go there, check out out yourself
I love the poutine dog..always a great experience!
I love this place! Their ideas and food is phenomenal. Some dogs ingredients may sound awkward, but I guarantee they are to die for. I personally recommend you try the BEAR. It different but fantastic!
The concepts are so fun here with the hot dogs and donuts, but the execution missed the mark a bit. The donut (maple bacon, wowzers) wsnt fresh. The Cuban hot dog was pretty good though. Ive had better hot dog creations, but it was a solid dog and creative too (though a bit expensive). Its really a 3/5 place that Im bumping up for their very nice outdoor patio area and the friendly service.
Unique hot dog combinations and great donuts! Fun setting in the back with some music and good beers, pleasant experience overall :-)
I really enjoyed the food. The staff was extremely welcoming.
This is a fun hotdog themed spot with plenty of vegetarian options! The sides we delicious as well. It has a nice outdoor patio with a fire place. We will definitely be back!
Lots if different types of hot dogs and tasty donuts!
One of my favorite locally-owned joints. The owners are neighbors and we support them 100%. Great place to just hang out.
Amazing little hole in the wall. Make sure to go early if you want to get any donuts though they run out fast.
We had a really excellent experience at Short Leash Hotdogs. While we didnt try their signature Bear dog, we really enjoyed the food we ordered. The cashier/order taker was knowledgeable on the food items and offered suggestions when we werent sure. The mini corn dogs were delicious and the mac and cheese was definitely something to write home about. We also were easily able to find seating and our order came out quick. Definitely recommend!
