Fantastic old school record store. Feels like a cozy carpeted den. Love the posters on the ceiling and the staff were super friendly and enthusiastic about music. Found some MC5 and King Crimson without much effort. Barely scratched the surface of this place in the half hour I spent there. Cant wait to go back

One of my favorite (and unfortunately one of the last real) record stores in Phoenix. It’s like a treasure chest of great music and despite its cozy, hole-in-the-wall appearance, it’s so packed with great stuff that you could spend forever here. You can easily find anything from best-selling hit albums to obscure soundtracks you never knew anyone else had heard of.I especially appreciate that it’s not just a store full of new releases; I don’t listen to the radio often enough to know Top 40 and I’m not spending $50 for a shiny new press of terrible music (sorry). I leave Tracks In Wax every time with a giant smile on my face, always amazed at how awesome the selection AND the prices are.I love this place so much. I can’t wait to visit again and hope I’ll get to do so for a very long time in the future.

Just wanted to post to express my gratitude for the great treatment I was given by the owner of this awesome shop. Was looking for a good early issue of “The Wall” and he came through with a nice condition copy at a very fair price. Also, he took the time to talk to me about what I was interested in which some stores I’ve been to don’t/won’t do.I’ll be back and highly recommend Tracks In Wax to folks looking for great vinyl!

The man was very nice and helpful this was my first time getting a record player and he was very understanding and helped me to what I was looking and gave me a Business card and told me before I were to head down there when I go again I could call and ask for a certain CD or vinyl and that he would tell me if they had it. Over all amazing experience:) =)

Amazing amount of records here but definitely for someone with an older and more eclectic music taste. I dont think I found anything more recent than the 90s. That isnt a bad thing though if you love that music. The prices were unbeatable (meaning affordable lol) and they play interesting music.

This place sucks. Never open, and close whenever they want. 👎 posted hours says 5pm, 4:43pm and the place is locked up.Take your business to Stinkweeds, The In Groove or Zia. Youll actually be able to shop for records.

Definitely a place to find old school rock and roll. They certainly specialize in that department, for what it was, 5 stars for sure.

Cool shop! When I say cool, I dont mean hipster record store or a place a 20 something would like to hang out necessarily but a place where the LPs and the music is what matters. That being said if you want to grow a collection this a is a great place for 60-80s rock and pop records. I found a few good LPs to fill wholes in my collection at reasonable prices. There were many records I would have purchased if my budget would allow. The guy running the shop knows his obscure 60s rock and psych stuff and was playing a great beat up mono Zombies LP in the store. He also let me hang out and make a few more selections after the stores business hours were past. Check it out! Also, a 2 minute walk from the Metro.

Ive been going to Tracks in Wax since the 1980s. Before the internet it was the only place I could find old Motown records. Its the best in Phoenix, hands down.

Independent Record Stores are my U.S. Cathedrals to visit. I am only interested in Alternative and Classic rock. So I am looking for Bowies Hunky Dory or something by Jello Biafra or some super unknown alternative band I saw at Ocayz Corral in Madison, WI in 1986. Not necessarily first pressings, but the pressing I would have bought when I was listening to that album or tape. I have been buying vinyl since I joined the Columbia Record Club around 1978. I worked in record stores off and on in Milwaukee, WI through the cd de-evolution from 1988 to 1994. Tracks in Wax is run by the wife of the man who started the store about 30 years ago. She is doing a fine job keeping the flame alive via referencing the internet as compared to the often encyclopedic mania that distinguishes so many people in the biz. I saw the band Christmas at Ocayz in 1986 and this record had been sitting on the shelf since about that time. I picked up Diamanda Galas record the Divine Punishment from 1986, but I dont think I saw her until 1992 in San Francisco at the Palace of Fine Arts with my buddy Sparky. And there was a spoken word Jello Biafra 3 disc picture set as well of course because only a true disciple would want to hear what he was ranting about in 1998. I liked the motherly atmosphere and suspect some gems pass through these doors for those who are vigilant. Worth a stop indeed.
