Stopped in after church. Being a Plainfield jr. And high school alumni, my wife and I wanted to let our kids experience some of our childhood. What a mistake. Food was cold. Entrees were brought out at separate times so some of my kids had food while the rest waited. Four cooks in the kitchen and they couldnt heat a bowl of soup or coordinate a tables ticket to get the order out together for everyone to dine at the same time. I cooked for a restaurant(alone) about the same size as Larrys and never would have sent out a partial ticket to the table. And I damn sure would never have sent out cold soup or any thing else for that matter. Such a shame!!!!

Worst experience ever. From the waitress to the overall experience. Ordered a skillet NO ONION, and my husband ordered a Denver omelet. Took 30 minutes and had to ask a different waitress because ours didn’t even return to check on us. When we finally got our food I had onions in mine. Asked for a manager because I was not waiting for it to be remade and I was not even happy with our waitresses terrible customer service abs asked for the check. They took only 5.00 off because the waitress said I didn’t say it. Well if she did her job correctly and paid attention to my order I said it. I can’t eat onions due to digestion so I’m pretty well aware not to eat them. And request them to be removed from food I order. I will never eat here again or ever recommend this place. I get places are short staffed and trying to do their best right now and I’m always super happy to over tip and eat out at small owned places for this matter. Not here. Never again.
Overcooked and greasy cod fish dinner. Too much breading. Hamburgers were pre-made and overcooked almost to being hard. Better find a new cook or you wont last in the restaurant world.
Definitely needs help. Needs a good cleaning. Not worth the money or the visit.

Worst experience ever, went for breakfast with my family. My wife got plastic wrapping cooked In her omelet, we sent it back then the second plate had plastic wrappingwith the veggies( obviouslythey brought the same plate) not caring if the costumer could shok on the plastic. Very careless and poor management. Never going back again.

Larrys has been a staple in Plainfield for 30 years. The staff is great and they are long time employees. Larrys is a place where everyone feels welcome when they dine here. Gus is a very gracious host. They give back to the community and have been giving back for years. With service and hospitality like this they will be here another 30 years. The food is good too and the menu has something for everyone.
Dead bugs on window sill. Dirty silverware. Waitress said wasnt her turn loud enough for us to hear. Food was mediocre at best.

I ate here a few times about 15 years ago and it was good. Moved away and returned to the area last year. I went back twice now in the last 4 months. Both times, waitresses were friendly. The first time it was Sunday morning for breakfast. It was crowded and they were understaffed but we were understanding. I got a skillet and it wasnt very good. Recently decided to try again for lunch on a weekday. There were like 3 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant, so not crowded at all. Ordered a BLT on crossaint, came with fries and soup. My husband got breakfast. It wasnt very good. The crossaint was more like a bun than a flaky crossaint.I hate to criticize price because prices have gone up everywhere and I know I can eat at home for cheaper. I also know the issues that have come with Covid but if we are going to pay $13 to $15 a meal, I expect it to at least be good.I do appreciate a good diner but this place needs more than a good scrub down. I think it needs a renovation. It just feels grimey in there. Again, I know thats costly to do, but they need it! But sadly being a long established business in a community just wont cut it for much longer, if you dont have at the very least, good food.

Average but overcooked eggs, the fruit was fine and bacon was ok. The service and staff were nice and friendly. The air conditioning was not operating the day we dined there so it wasnt a spot to stay very long.

I was in Plainfield looking for a restaurant to eat at and I seen this little restaurant called Larry’s diner I was hoping to go in there to get nice food. I went with my mother and she got an omelet, she said hers was good and I was still waiting for mine, I ordered a waffle with fruit they brought it out and it looked SO GOOD so I took a bite of a strawberry and they were rotten and so was the other fruit! My waiter did take it back and said sorry and got me a plain waffle but the receipt still made me pay for the rotten waffle! The food is also fairly expensive but that’s okay. I do not recommend going here but I’m giving it a 3 stars because the waiters are very nice.
Been a long time since I ate here last. Not a bad place to go for a good breakfast. Had the corned beef hash and eggs. Coffee was good as was the food. Service was excellent.
Took 30 minutes to order and then get our food when got toast and two skillets. Took other people before us when we were there before them. Rolled eyes at us when we asked nicely for more water.

Waited almost two hours for our food. The waitress was bragging how her daughter came to work with her to help, but to be honest they both sucked. They both literally ignored is the whole time. Every other table they has(which was like 5) got thoer food before is and the waitresses never even really came by to refill drinks, or check on us. HORRIBLE!!!!

First time i was here i had a lovely experience, second time here today, it was terrible. The waitress rolled her eyes and sighed when we asked for more water, and it took us 30 minutes to get asked what we want to drink. The food was fine, just upsetting service...
First time steak and eggs with coffee was excellent. This time not so much.coffee strong and bitter and eggs and hash browns taste like dirty grill...

Good food, amazing service, wasnt the cleanest though. A lot of the utensils and plates seemed old. Interior was a bit dark also, they should open more of the blinds. The prices seemed a tad high as well for the quality of the food.

We just finished lunch at Larry’s Diner in Plainfield. The food was great. Large portions, great staff, owner greets you when you walk in the door. The prices were incredible. During these Covid times, you feel very safe eating at the diner.
Food and service are good. Cleanliness of the restaurant was definitely lacking. I dont think anyone has cleaned under the tables in years.

Been coming here for years, some of the best food! Breakfast is always great! Highly recommend the fish, they have several varieties, the Greek portion of the menu is awesome!! Wait staff is always friendly and courteous! Ill always stop here when I am in the area!!

Nice place kind of expensive 4 people with avg meal costed around 75$ but food was a five.
I can not describe how dreadful this restaurant is!!! The eggs were as soggy as wet cardboard, and tasted awful. The steak as-well looked like dog poo, and it was as dry as dead skin, not to mention the sauce was unexplainably rotten as-well. Also my coffee tasted like it was sitting out at a hospital for 15 hours. That smell in their reeked of pure sulfur and the walls looked like there was mold everywhere! The place all around looked like I was in an old run down ghost town! Not to mention those nasty floors looked like they havent been cleaned in months!!!
Loved the family atmosphere and personal attention. Breakfast dishes are huge enough to be shared. Prices are reasonable as well for diner - definitely will be back!

Huge menu. We went for a really late breakfast and left stuffed to the gills! Staff was really nice, and even talked to Larry for a bit. This place is a must if you want the old fashioned diner experience.

This restaurant holds a special place in my heart that they have been able to capture ever since I first came here as a child back in the late 1990s. Almost every Saturday my father and I would come to Larrys for breakfast and head over to the Ace Hardware afterwards next-door. The food has always been a good value and the service always friendly. I enjoy coming here whenever I am back in Plainfield when I am looking for a familiar and cozy atmosphere. I am happy that Larrys is still doing well and look forward to my next visit!

Delicious food and no wait! Most of our visits have been for breakfast or lunch and our servers have been great for the most part. My husband LOVES their country fried steak and eggs and their cream of chicken soup is delicious. I always either get eggs, bacon and pancakes or their hot Turkey sandwich. Definitely a must to go here!
Home town diner feel, great portion sizes and friendly staff. Many options for food choices. Ambience could be updated a bit, but may be some of the draw while escaping chain restaurants. We left full, and happy.
Actually the food was good and the waitress that greeted me was great. It was the check out that was nasty. The gentleman that checked me out. I got the feeling that he didnt like POC. I ordered a carry out because basically I just wanted a good cup of coffee. The waitress happily took my order and their brought me out a hot fresh cup of coffee. She was really a sweet older lady and I was impressed with her service and kindness. Upon checking out the older man took credit card ran it through and he never said how much. He then threw my card on the counter. He did the same thing with the receipt. After I signed it he took it out my hand and walked off. He didnt say one word to me. So I give two stars. If not for the waitress, I wouldnt give any. I have stop back in and tip the waitress as the guy just walked off before I could say anything. I believe he may have been the owner and that makes it much worst.

I stopped here today for a quick breakfast. They use fresh spinach and fresh mushrooms in their omelettes and skillets, which was delicious (and hardly any breakfast place does that!) And I got to choose French toast or pancakes as my toast option! French toast was great. Definitely recommend.

Talk about a quaint little place just like what my grandparents used to take me to for some good food. The cream of chicken and rice soup is so good. The burger and gyros are great. Had a little pie and ice cream to top it all off! Nice quiet evening! Staff was great, friendly and funny. Definitely want to come here more and try more on the menu!
