Fair prices, no haggle purchase, excellent attitude. I am very happy with the deal I got and the experience. I had my loan pre approved by my own bank, thus the process was very simple. The car was in excellent condition. My bank representative even said that CarMax is very reliable. I did my research, found the car I wanted online, agreed with the listed price, reserved a test drive and bought it.
CarMax really made selling a used car easy. I came in after doing the online stuff, with no appointment. I sat for about 45 minutes on a very busy day in their air conditioned room with free wifi, then got confirmation of the offer I got online. Then about half an hour later we were finalizing forms, and 10 minutes after that I had a check in hand for the exact amount I expected based on the online forms.Next time Ill make an appointment to make the process even faster.
Simple and smooth selling experience. They offered price on internet questionnaire which asked for VIN number and some details about the car. Since the offer price was good I decided to visit the place. After physical inspection of the vehicle they upheld the price and finished the remaining process in lesser than an hour.In total I spent lesser than two hours on their premises and left with the check. My experience was not easy at all. My car was totaled so I needed a car ASAP and was recommended Carmax. I had spent time at other car lots before I finally went to this location. Before I went in person, I printed the cars I was interested in online. I couldnβt drive any of them because I needed insurance, my insurance would not be active again because they needed information of a car so I was only able to look at them. I went home and called customer service for better clarity of paperwork I needed to go back as UBER is not cheap. The guy on the phone was extremely helpful and I got approved for one of the cars I chose. He told me the information I needed to bring to the Pleasanton location so that I can take that car home. When I got there, they said the information I brought would not qualify for what they needed. I spent two hours there and left without the car. I went two days later with the documents, they then said I needed to be able to access my billing statements from their computer in that building. The statements my banker sent me (with their business cards) was not good enough. I called everyday and submitted forms online from both my banks (one of them is my job of employment) and spoke with one of the managers. She stated the bank statements didnβt look real and that I needed to be able to access my online banking in person even if I came with the printed version. When my statement finally generated online, I logged in at the computer next to the manager desk and printed my forms proving my statements were real. I spent a lot of money on the rides to go there to leave with no car for a week, only because the manager felt my statement didnβt look real which is ironic considering one of the banks is my job of employment. They approved everything and had me wait 3 hours stating βmy car was getting maintenance and cleaningβ, two days later I get a notice in my car stating β oil & maintenance neededβ and βlow tire pressure.β This experience has been exhausting and I still have to go back.
Well, as a buyer, it all started by having the vehicle that I was looking for. Not just the make, model and year but basic elements and extras that were important to me. Mostly this was a matter of having a larger inventory than most car lots.The rest of the transaction was helped by CarMax having a well organized system to conclude the sale. I had an old trade whereby CarMax offer didnβt match what I wanted and so I took the truck home.

First of all I am a huge fan of Carmax and I have purchased three vehicles earlier in the state of NC,MD and PA since 2017. I recently moved to CA for work and itβs been just three days. I want to first buy a car to facilitate my commute. My first option as always was to get a car from Carmax. I am not sure if the rules have changed, but I was asked to have insurance to test drive the vehicle. This is something new and I have never been asked insurance from Carmax since 2017 to test drive. The lady at the Pleasanton store was completely rude and did not even care to explain so to why I needed an insurance to test drive. She asked me to purchase insurance for a car that I donβt have and even if I could I am still finding apartments in the area. How am I supposed to get an insurance with a hotel address.Finally, even if the rules and terms of test drive has changed within a year itβs the duty of the car max representative to explain the customer in a calm and professional way. The actions of the sales representative at Carmax highly reflect the companyβs image to future and existing customers.π
Working with Trent was one of the most enjoyable and effortless car buying experiences we have had. Although we cant offer five stars for the entire CarMax experience, we can whole-heartedly state that Trent made up for any negatives with his easy-going and friendly demeanor. I brought my elderly mothers car for an estimate because she is no longer able to drive. Its always a bit of a touchy subject, but CarMax made the process and procedure painless, at least. It took a bit of time - but nothing too horrific or unreasonable - my mother also reads every line of anything that she signs and the business center people were very kind and didnt rush her, at all. Itβs interesting how once you tell them you want to see other cars other than the one you had selected to test drive first, they change their attitude and act like youβre wasting their time. I want to make sure that I make the right choice and purchase a car that I love and will want to keep for many years. Also false advertising. I found a car on their website. Look really nice online but was horribly old and had a nasty smell inside in person. I left very disappointed.

I received a cordial greeting and asked my purpose of coming in today was, and was directed to the business office for my appraisal appt. they told me it will take approx 90mins, it actually took 2 hours when I finally walked out of there. Only critic is that carmax should let buyers know exactly what they need to bring and or have available when coming to buy a car. There should be a check list sent to potential buyers. The prices are a bit high, and I HATED that they put a carmax sticker on the back, it was hard to clean off, and may still leave a stain.... the people were VERY nice, but it did take a long time to get everything finished, I had already had the loan approved but that didnt help... And I think the way they ran the credit report made it cost more in the end... love the car though.
Compared to Vroom these guys get 100 stars. Process was lightening fast on the front end to get my offer to sell my car. When I arrived, had to wait a while, but was out of there in about 1.5 hours with check in hand.

They did what needed to be done ! It took longer than I expected and they had to end up keeping my car to fix it but they checked in with my needs and provided me a loaner vehicle for the meantime. Jenifer is service/maintenance department is wonderful - sheβs really dedicated to providing top quality customer service and it showed through each step of the interaction with her. I brought in my car for a couple of things and after I left she noticed something else and added it to the list of repairs. Wow. Things are crazy right now in the used car world, so the CarMax location I visited was extremely busy. Even with everything going on though, I was politely greeted the moment I walked in, and helped with my quote process right away. There were a few times that I needed to hang out and be patient, but again, it was clear there was a lot going on. The quote I received was reasonable, and of course, selling to CarMax means I dont have to deal with private parties and DMV - big pluses in my book. Worth $1500 to sell it right away and not deal with the headaches. Thank you CarMax!
I went there for first time and asked some questions, my husband wanted to talk to someone in spanish, we spoke to a young lady her name was Maria, she told me : dont you speak English and I say yes but my husband would feel more comfortable talking in his language, can you help us? And she said we closed in 30 minutes, and asked her can you give us 30 minutes? And she told us: No, I can give you 5 minutes, she told us they closed at 7pm which was a lie, they closed at 9pm. She wasnt even putting any attention to us because ahe was looking at her cellphone saying that she needed to leave because her manager was calling her. I saw her minutes later sitting in her chair chatting with some coworkers laughing.

I was called a dozen times by other dealerships after doing another car value estimate service, and the places where I brought my car in consistently tried to lowball me. No games here. Had my car shipped and when it arrived 15 days later than promised, it was damaged and they still tried to sell it to me without telling me. I think it was damaged in transit and they were doing body work on it and that is why it was so late.

Our overall shopping and buying experience was fantastic and easy! Being allowed to shop and test drive on our own took a lot of the stress off, and everyone we dealt with was very personable. The βno hagglingβ and application process was a breeze. The only thing that was less than ideal was the salesperson we originally saw did not properly place our hold. We ended up with a better car, but if that was THE car, we would have been very upset and disappointed. I loved the added touch of taking by a photo with a big bow on our new car. This was my first time ever visiting and doing business with CarMax. I came to sell my car based on an online offer that I received from CarMax for my car. Their online offer was higher than what another auto dealer offered for my car so I decided to make an appointment to see if their offer was legit or not.I went to their Pleasanton location and was impressed with what I saw. The facility was spacious, clean, bright, all covid protocols were followed, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I was impressed.The process of checking my car was simple and quick and after confirming the condition of my car they quickly issued me a check for the exact offer that they made online. Since this was my first time ever dealing with CarMax, I was prepared to see if they would try to come up with excuses to lower their offer price or nickel and dime me. In fairness, they had made an offer sight unseen, so I was not sure what they would do. But I did fill out their online form as accurately as I could. So to my pleasant surprise, they didnt try to deduct even a penny off their online offer price.I was very impressed with the entire experience of selling my car to CarMax. I used CarMax to sell my car. I checked the value of my car on KBB and CarMax, and checked the trade-in value with my new vehicle. CarMax rates were equal, if not better, than the rates provided by the others. The car selling process was very simple as well! It took CarMax about 20 minutes to inspect my vehicle and determine whether the online offer would hold up, and it did! They also completed the Release of Liability form for me. Overall great experience, would definitely work with them again in the future.

Again approved instantly at a great rate. Set up delivery and they were there on time. I test drove the car. Did the paperwork in a RV office they brought. Everyone I dealt with was excellent! Outstanding experience, best ever for buying a car, at 79 I have bought many, no hassle, no haggling, no let me talk to my manage. Great price on my trade in, even had a car brought to the location with lower mileage at no cost. After you buy the car take it home and dont like it, you can bring it back. The car is great that we purchased, but its quite a hassle to aquire. I made lots of phone calls to them, they kept saying that the car would be available one day and then it was not. Getting a call back was next to impossible. I thought it would be delivered by a truck but a employee with no car knowledge drove it to us. I would recommend the cars, only if you have a lot of free time on your hands to deal with the purchasing. I also called recently about the gas cap having a lock and not receiving a key. They said theyd get back to me but have not. Luckily I got the cap off but they had no sense of urgency to get back to me.

Had a very rough experience!! It took days to get the paperwork done properly. Every time we thought it was correct, they found they forgot something and had to redo the paperwork. They promised home delivery... I ended up having to go pick it up. Not sure if do this again!!! Even the detail on the car wasnβt very good. I do love the car

We browsed around the lot while my trade-in was being processed and at the end Gabriel assisted me with the final documents.Overall a very positive experience.

My experience was very satisfying. The sale person was very kind and respectful, givin us suggenstion and advices but keeping our personal space to make a desition. She managed the financial issue very well. Other than that, we purchased a good vehicle with the sense of getting a product that was verified and controled before being for sale.I would substract half of a star as I had to ask for items that would be attached to the car such as the complete spare wheel kit, and the owner manual. I also was given just one remote key fob. Overall, I score my experience as satisfying, and I would recomend this dealer.

I was happy to get my Dodge Challenger from them especially knowing I was βcoveredβ by their max care warranty if any problems were to happen... But then every problem I had from coolant issues to suspension and alignment their service department never had openings closer than 2 months for my car to be serviced and when I took it to other shops nothing would be under warranty. I was scammed for the max care warranty and highly suggest never getting it or expecting carmax to help you once theyβve overly priced your used car and sold it to you. I am never going to Carmax ever again.
My first experience with Carmax on Capitol Exp was great However, my most recent visit was and still is a disaster, I sold my car and got another, payments way higher, on my way home the Ford Escape I just purchased stalled on me and my daughter at night ti.e, my transmission went out, only had it hours, been in there shop over 2.5 weeks...DISAPPOINTED!!

I actually checked with 3 banks that I have had loans with in the past and was surprised to find out that the interest rate at CarMax is lower than the banks rates.
