TO OWNER, YOU JUST LIED TO PUBLIC, YOUR PRICES ARE NOT THE SAME AS ALL LIQUOR STORES! I KNOW BECAUSE IVE SHOPPED AT ALL, PLUS IVE BEEN OVERCHARGED AND CAN PROOVE IT. On MY CREDIT CARD!
They have a sign up that says “minors allowed inside when accompanied by spouses, parent, or guardian yet denied me service when I went in with my 20 year old wife. And the guy behind the counter was real smug about it. However they were fine with me going to get cigars with her a day earlier.
First time vising this store. I asked where to find Jagermeister. The clerk pulled up a 750ml bottle from under the counter. I asked if that was the smallest bottle they had. She said it was, but rang it up before I could tell her never mind. I paid anyway, even though I didnt need that much. I guess I could understand them not wanting to peddle smaller units to possible derelicts, but I was a clean, well-groomed, middle-aged male, wearing a nice shirt. I thought the two staff people, especially the clerk who rang me up, were rather rude. I wont be coming back to this store.
In truth I pass by this place all the time to work but whenever Im having a house party this is the location I go to get my spirits they always have a large selection the staff is always knowledgeable and friendly.
Wrt scotch, which is all I was interested in, I would say the selection was pretty sparse and the pricing could not match the big not-to-be-mentioned competitor. that being said, I was able to purchase a Port Charlotte 10yr which can be hard to find.
Really good selection of liquors and mixers. Very nice, helpful staff. This is our go-to neighborhood liquor store!
Excellent liquor store with great collection Very clean and organized atmosphere knowledgeable staff with reasonable pricing
I liquor store is a liquor store as far as Im concerned. I frequent this establishment strictly for the wonderful people that work there and top notch customer service!
Favorite liquor store in Portland. Staff aways helpful
Pretty good prices. Although it felt like I was annoying the worker for even being there.
One of the few places to get spirits, wine, and beer...as well as cigars.
I love this store. Easy to find everything in there. If they dont have what you want they are very accommodating. Great prices, especially for the area, as well.
Great feel when I walk in. Prices are fair and the knowledge of the employees is great. There stock is very cool and very selective so theres lots of options to choose from so that helps a lot depending on the mood. Definitely my place to go to to get my spirits.
Super helpful staff, great selection of whiskeys and interesting beers
Good selection, great staff, convenient location
I went here and bought a bottle of single malt glenlivet and was over charged. Paid 200 when the bottle is only worth 100. Its also 40% and not 43%. I do admit I didnt do my research on the place first but they are still ripping people off and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Now the owner is going To sit there and tell me they charge the same prices everywhere else in Oregon… this is false because 10th Avenue liquor has the same exact bottle for 130. The rich get richer off of those who dont have a lot. May talk to a lawyer now.
The liquor selection is one of the best in the city, hands down. The store is easy to navigate, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. What else can one ask for in a liquor store?
Definitely one of my go-to liquor stores in Portland. Always have a decent selection of all the various types of alcohol on hand (more tucked away since space is a little limited) and an amazing selection of beer and wine as well. I think their selection of scotch and bourbon are the best of the bunch and they tend to have some higher end gems tucked away that arent in other stores in the area. Ive ended up here more often than not when I decide to get ingredients for some high-end drink as they usually have what Im looking for! The staff is also very helpful and friendly, which is a huge bonus in my book!
Great selection and great staff.
The clerk wasnt very courteous, but he wasnt rude either. Just something about him seemed off. But store was clean and the selection was nice.
Helpful employees. Very clean store. They dont have hard kombucha. They have plenty of sour ales.
They are open untill 9 pm
Best liquor store in da pearl. Dont steal that cause its gonna be a thing
Great selection!! My go to place
Its only less than a block away. People are very friendly and they knowing me, not by name, by face and always greeting me as I come in.
Great little store, friendly staff. Excellent location on the streetcar line.
I went in hoping to buy a nice bottle of wine but realized my license was expired as I walked in. I quickly walked back out and started searching through my bag to see if I could find my passport. As I was putting my stuff back into my bag, the security guard came outside and said Can you not do that right here? I was a bit taken aback but I assumed maybe he just didnt want me in the doorway so I moved over and finished putting my stuff in. I couldnt find my passport so I tried to contact some friends to see if they could bring it and started looking online to see if I could renew my ID online and get a paper print out (Im from a state that offers this). While standing there, I received a lot of stares from the staff inside, and it was obvious they were talking about me. The security guard came out to smoke and stared at me very intimidatingly the entire time. I kept moving around so that I wasnt in front of the store, and every time, the security guard would hurry over to the window to see where I was. Eventually, a staff member came outside and walked to his car, I was standing by the parking meter so I moved to the street car stop so I wasnt in the way. The security guard came outside as well and stared directly at me the entire time, as if I was about to attack this guy in full view of everyone around?! There were plenty of other people walking by (and definitely ones who would be a far greater threat than a small, short, 25 year old lady), there was NO reason to single me out.I was waiting for people to call me back, so I went inside just to check if they would by chance accept a digital ID, and they said no (worth a shot), but nobody said anything to me about me being a problem. I hoped that that conversation made it obvious I was just looking for my ID and not doing anything weird. I went back outside to wait and the entire time the staff/security guard continued watching me and moving around the store to see where I was going. An outside security guard even showed up and started walking by. I have no idea what the issue was with someone simply standing outside of a building.I wasnt doing anything strange or harassing anyone. I wasnt dressed inappropriately or dirty or anything. Im just a very average girl who was standing outside a store. Someone finally grabbed my passport to bring it to me, but I was so put off by the judgment and attitudes that I had them meet me at a different store. I was honestly shocked at how I was being treated. Being half Mexican, I am no stranger to being profiled, but this was a whole other level. I felt unsafe and judged the entire time, like I was doing something wrong or was beneath everyone in the store. Im sorry if I appeared dangerous or something in any way but this is just absolutely no way to treat people.I saw another review that said this place is the worst of the downtown Portland stereotype, and another that talks about how Hipster Portland love to act woke, but someone who isnt dressed to the nines comes in and they get intimidated and spoken down to like theyre a piece of trash off the street. I was wearing nice athletic wear and had a backpack with my computer and some personal belongings in it. And even if I was wearing really low end clothes and wasnt clean-cut, I would still deserve the respect than every human being should get. I dont understand this attitude people seem to have in this city and at a lot of these establishments, and it is the exact reason Im leaving. I cannot believe the employees are allowed to treat people like this.
A delight for everything that you need and you’ll probably add something to your cart that you didn’t know you needed.
Great selection and price
Excellent selection and courteous staff.
They didnt have what I was looking for, and staff were more engaged with each other than clients
Great store, but can’t help commenting on the review from the “local guide” complaining that they are overpriced. Perhaps things have changed but as I understood it, Oregon has State regulated liquor pricing?Either way, their service and selection are well worth the expense! Best liquor store in PDX,
This place has a decent selection but some of the pompous employees act almost in inconvenienced when you ask for help or spend a moment discussing nuances of one type of bourbon over another. You people do realize you’re in customer service, right? Instead of making people feel belittled or like you’re genuinely uninterested; how about educate and be more enthusiastic - make me want to come in and spend money!Just another Portland establishment with poor service. So frustrating!
They have a few different types of non-alcoholic beer
Rude and stuffy atmosphere
Good range of wine, beer and spirits. A star dropped because twice Ive had a difference between the price at the register and the price on the shelf. Higher at the register! So just check.
The front windows are boarded up. But always great service and friendly customer service. Come on Portland, were better than this.
Really friendly and helpful and nicely condensed
My favorite place
Nice clean store was in and out quickly
First time here. So nice. Had what I needed at expected price.
When comparing liquor stores in the city this one is definitely one of the better ones in terms of finding speciality items. They also have one of the best bitters selection out there (other than The Meadows).
The selection of alcohol and wine is extremely impressive, and the staff has always been polite, helpful, and cheerful. A little more expensive but only place around. And there is a peaceful park a few blocks away with a unique water feature... Just bring a flask. 😉
Great selection and open an hour later than every other store in town. Top notch service and cigar room. Favorite in town
Big selection! No public bathrooms.Pee before you go..
We were the only customers with at least 3 employees and we felt like we were putting them out to purchase a case of aquavit. No greetings, no interaction, no smiles, no thank yous. Take your business elsewhere.
Awesome selection of spirits near the Pearl District. Worth a stop if youre from out of town like me and want to stock up on your favorite tipples without exorbitant WA state liquor taxes. Lots of local, Portland- and Oregon-based distilleries represented. Nice people and dog-friendly to boot!
Really cool booze.
Clean. Well stocked. Great staff. Convenient hours.
The staff are the reason to go here, for sure! I started going here out of convenience but quickly learned that the staff are meticulous in their caring for their customers and for the art of a good drink. Even if I move further away, and closer to other stores, I know I will keep my allegiance here. They have won my business!
Clean store with a wide selection of alcohol and bitters.
Helpful and knowledgeable as well as well-stocked. They meet our needs every time.
I love the variety of high quality spirits here. The staff are also very outgoing and helpful, always taking time to go the extra mile and really show off both their knowledge and selection. I go here for all my esoteric alcohol and shrub needs. Their beer selection is pretty great, too. I always leave with more than I planned to!
Great customer service
They definitely have great customer service. They will walk around and tell you about everything in the store to help you decide. Dont come here if you are looking for bulk amounts of beer or spirits. The checkout process was quick and easy and very polite.
Picked up some Malibu rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice and some ice. Nombre what can go wrong.
Friendly staff and great selection. I would highly recommend buying your alcohol of choice here.
Best selection of spirits in Portland and open late
Ive visited here many times. The selection and location are REALLY great, but the hipster attitude just keeps getting worse. There is no hospitality; no attempt to make the customer feel welcome. Like, maybe, smile when someone smiles at you for example? They might be great guys, but they make me feel like a dick for interrupting their cool party, which isnt the way I like my retail experiences. Thus I dont like spending money here.Anyhoo, Ive taken to driving up Lovejoy to the store on NW Cornell across from Safeway. Very good selection, and the staff are genuinely welcoming.I dont really get off on posting negative reviews; I guess Im secretly hoping someone will read this and do something about it, because it could be such a great shopping experience. Will check back with Pearl Specialty after a while for signs of improvement.
Super groovy and super stocked! Great staff
My go to for all liquor. Best customer service. And I live in NE Portland so I dont mind going to the Pearl for my liquor.
Awesome liquor store. It has a great selection of brands for everything. They also have hard to find beers. Theres a decent size cigar room. This place is one of my favorites.
Good prices decent selection and very good customer service one of the best parts about this store is definitely the location. That is not to take away from the the clean and simple display and the selection of spirits and cigars
Great selection and I love how helpful the staff is there everytime I come through.
While I don’t know of another spot in the Pearl, I wouldn’t go to it anyways since this crew is so knowledgeable and helpful. If you want to know about what you are buying and looking for a new flavor, be sure to go here first!
If you want to make a new drink and need the right ingredients, this is the perfect place. They now their stuff and they do not just try to sell you the most expensive stuff. All their recommendation were spot on.
Great selection. Well thought out choices on Oregon wines carried. Lots of local beers. I picked up some syrups to mix for cocktails. They had at least 60 different syrups to choose from, so I was very happy. Perhaps pricier than other options, but nothing has this kind of selection in one place.
I quit drinking but its a liqour store.
Helpful staff and Im always able to find something Im looking for.
Great variety reasonably priced great service
Love, love, love this place. Need top grab some rum there this weekend. The staff is beyond amazing and always helpful.
No complaints with the alcohol selection as they have a diverse collection of spirits here. However the customer service is horrible. This was the last place we stopped at before our 5 hour journey home to Vancouver. Upon arriving neither of the two people working acknowledged us. We made our way over to the expensive bottles of rum to add to our collection. It took someone over 15 minutes to help us and we had to track them down. Seeing as there was only one other person in the store who was paying for their bottle of vodka when we came in the wait time is a bit absurd. We had actually thought this was the liquor store we stopped off at the last time we were in Portland where staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, but it was not (that one is called 11th avenue liquor and highly recommend)
Incredible selection of top shelf liquors. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The selection of liquors is extensive, and the knowledge of the staff is deep. This is a good place to come for a high-quality selection of international as well as local/regional distilled spirits. They also have a wine area, and a cigar room.
The selection here is amazing. So many different things to try. I really recommend this store. If only, prices were lower in Oregon
These guys have an amazing selection of gins (my favorite) and everything else. Its rare that I find everything I want in one place. These guys have almost everything! Everyone is very friendly and helpful and love talking about spirits and mixing drinks.
Pricing: FairService: PoorOverall Selection: Average
A great variety of liquors, wines, and beers both local and imported.
Amazing selection. Huge local store, primarily geared towards selling to bars. Thousands of bottles with all sorts of liquor, wine, mixers, beer. Also cigars! Very helpful staff.
Convenient, well lit, well stocked liquor store. They carry the big names as well as local spirits like Crater Lake Vodka and Burnside Bourbon. Theyve also got a decent selection of OR, WA, and CA wines and beers. Yes, their prices are more expensive than liquor stores on the east side, but presumably so is their lease.
Make sure you dress up for this place. Open late, which is awesome. But 3 friends and I were on our way back from a pumpkin patch (and dressed appropriately for that) and got nothing but snide remarks and glares. Great availability, just remember youre in the Pearl.
The go to liqour store, my area.
Yes theres a security guard that checks your i.d. when you walk in the door and yes they seem to have only the mid to high end liquors but this is one of my favorite liquor stores and Ill tell you why.1. Its open until 10pm everyday except Sunday!2. They do have well liquor if you ask them and they keep the cheap stuff behind the counter.3. Having a security guard check your i.d. upon entering makes it so you dont have to show your i.d. when you pay.Hooray!
Visiting Portland and staying in the Pearl district. Looked for a place that had a good bourbon/rye selection. Great selection of local whiskies in addition to wide inventory of bitters. If one like to make whisky cocktails this market will not dissapoint. I had brought my own cigars so did not go into their cigar section. This is not the biggest spirit retailer i have been to but sure found everything to make my favorite whisky cocktail. The manhattan.
The Best Quality for the Price in the Pearl District Downtown.
A very good selection of liquor and beer. Their walk-in humidor is pretty great as well, and the selection in there has only improved since Ive been going. My number one stop for cigars anywhere in the city.
Guy at checkout wasnt friendly and was actually very rude. There was something that was one per customer, he refused to sell one to my wife because she was with me despite her wanting to purchase her own. The guy at the register then told me if I came in with a couple friends he would have only sold our group one. So I guess just make sure you go here alone....
Very cool place
Beautiful displays and top shelf pints. The staff were courteous and beautiful, as well as knowledgeable and funny. Hands down the most attractive looking liquor store, inside and out, I have ever been to.
They have a great selection of the local distilled spirits on the shelf along with wines from the region. This is a good place to grab a bottle. They dont try to stock the full range of every liquor out there, but they do hit the important stock, especially with the locals.
They used to be rude stuck up. Now its way better the person was super nice! Good job manager!
Good selectionFriendly/helpful staff
As a visitor from Washington, I would have been happy with Oregon prices, but the insights provided by the staff were excellent. It’s well worth a special trip, especially if you enjoy whiskey!!
Nice atmosphere and usually well stocked. Customer service is iffy. Most of the time staff is pleasant, but on occasion they seem unhappy that there are customers. Not often, but occasionally. If you dont want staff breathing on the back of your neck while youre making your selection then this is the place to shop.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Im from up North, love Portland, hate driving in it, so anytime Im in the Pearl district, I stop in here. I always find either something Im looking for or something interesting. Never left disappointed.
Really excellent selection of amaro, rum, vermouth, mezcal and some other uncommon spirits. Staff is helpful and quick with suggestions to navigate through their formidable number of choices.
Classy feel, except for the fact that youre carded by a security guard at the entry. Is this a club, or a liquor store? OK selection. Sometimes the staff is helpful, and sometimes they arent. It gets 4 stars because its open late.
Good Place To Shop For Your Beer&Liquor.Good Prices Too.
