Love going here for my climbing & bouldering gear. Good quality stuff for solid prices.
Not bad. Lots of people around to ask if you need help no matter where in the store you are. Thats really nice that we dont dont have to chase people down for questions. The guy in the shoe department was clearly not listening to our desires. That was pretty annoying.
The staff is awesome! I bought trekking poles and couldnt figure out how to connect them due to the hidden design feature. She showed me how to use them and even assured me that there is a year to use them and return them if i dont like them. Love the people and the stores co-op minded policy.
There are two reasons I pick REI as my outdoors outfitter. Reason 1: They have the best staff. They are always there to help answer any question. They love for the outdoors, and will spend a ton of time with you to make sure you get the right fit for you. Reason 2: Their 100% satisfaction guarantee means you can bring whatever you bought, that maybe isnt fitting exactly right, back. You can trade it in to find what does work, or if theres not something they carry, theyll accept the return and point you in the right direction.Ok another reason: its a co-op. Profits make their way back to the members.
Customer service is great, as always. Its a very friendly, helpful environment. However, as of this review (middle of August 2020) they are suffering from the same resupply issues that are affecting a lot of retailers right now.Id check online for the availability of in-store pickup before making a trip.
Went to their shoe dept and was ready to buy 6 pairs of shoes for various purposes. Total would have been around $1000. Probably not a big deal to a big store like that but a decent purchase for a customer. The lady that helped me acted like we were in a air locked biohazard lab even though we were both wearing masks and I’m vaccinated. After entering her enclosed shoe bio chamber I advised her what I was looking for and she begrudgingly brought back 3 pairs to try. Meanwhile, two other sets of customers came in and selected shoes to try. No big deal. The bio chamber still had space and they politely distanced themselves.I told her what I liked and didn’t like about the shoes and she looked completely annoyed. Finally said she would be back and continued to help the 3rd person who had arrived. Skipping me and the second customer. After repeated passes of going in the back and returning to help the person that arrived third, I was ready to leave. But then she did something truly amazing, She just walked out and left. Without a word. A new employee came out and decided to pick up where she left off but I guess I’d have to start at square one. Well, that’s if the new employee even addressed me. Nope, went to the third customer again and completely avoided me and the second customer.I decided to leave with the horrible customer service and as I opened the bio chamber door/rope enclosure, she snottily remarked, “I guess you’re done then?!” I said of course and to have a nice day. I was never rude and never condescending. The second couple followed behind me because they were just as annoyed I imagine.I’ll be ordering elsewhere.
Nice location, shoe department (selection) seemed smaller than others which is what I went here for, but was still able to find what I wanted.
Went to this store today to purchase a couple of pairs of hiking boots only to be greeted with a barrier between me and the boots... the entire section is blocked off and you are given a stupid pager, even to just look at them!REI - you wonder why people go to online stores such as Amazon - this is one reason why!
It was great. Went to buy some shoes for the hubby. Theyre still limiting customers in the shoe area. If there are a lot of people waiting, they hand out pagers, so you can shop while you wait. Just wish they had more sizes in stock.
Very laid-back and wonderful staff in the good sense. But very polite when asking any questions. They make every possible attempt to meet your needs. The store motivates me to go out on a run.
Always a laid back and premium experience there. Bought my new Altra paradigms (running shoes) and then found a bonus pair of Altra torins in the garage sale. Win win!
Love rei. returned a pair of sandels and replaced them with new hiking shoes cost to me 5 cents. best guarantee
Their tent selection is awful, you can order different ones online to ship to store,, but it will take over 2 weeks to arrive and you definitely wont get any kind of tracking. They barely have camping chairs, no camp stoves. For a camping store they have a shockingly small amount of camping supplies. This place is basically a clothing store. Pretty sad compared to what it was like years ago.
Its REI. Not a whole lot else to say. People are nice. Its not a flagship location so its small but its still great.
Cant even look around without being followed around the store. I dont even have a bag on me. I will not be back.
Customer service is great! Patient, helpful, and knowledgeable people. Thanks!
Went there looking for shoes. I bought two pairs of Hokas. Heres hoping they work, feel good & have the right support.
Bought some sporting goods, friendly environment and excellent service.
ELITIST BIKE SNOBBERY - I have an older mountain bike that sat through the winter and needed some attention. I took it in, dropped it off, and got a call the next day telling me that there was too much to fix, and the bike wasnt worth it. I went in to pick it up, and asked some questions. Well, we have pretty high standards..., I was told. Basically, my bike isnt nice enough for them to fix? I took it to a place here in town, all suspension is fine, some cleaning up and lube and new brakes; I have my bike back no thanks to REI sprocket snobs.
Just got back from Dave and Busters at Clackamas Town Center with my Son, his Wife and my Grandson!!I enjoyed the ambiance, the friendly staff, and the delicious food!My Grandson had the Buffalo Chicken Tenders, his Mom had the Philly Cheese steak, my Son had the Voodoo Pasta and I had the Chicken Wings w/Honey Bourbon Bbq Sauce!Laura and Michael, Thank you for your customer service, your friendly greeting and smile and seeing that our needs were take care of.Mahalo,K
Only place we could find womens Keen sandals in my wifes size, color, style she wanted, and thier selection was limited.
Owen is the nicest and most patient person. Thanks to their help I found the gear I was looking for and didn’t feel pressured. The backpack and backpacking gear selection could be better but the service was great.
I cant stand the people this hire at this location. Most stores in Portland tend to have lower intelligent employees compared to other areas. Shop at a different rei and you will be much happier unless you are here for pickup only.
They have excellent service and usually employ people who are actually passionate about the outdoors and have first game experience with what theyre selling. The bike service department is truly beyond expectations. They provide great service and do it at an excellent price. They also are always happy to answer questions and provide advice. There are bike shops closer to me than REI but Im happy to make the drive to have them work on my bike and know that the work is done right.
It was crazy how cheap the kids section can get! (For myself) (a 39 yr old)
REI is legit. Love this company. Great company to shop at if youre into going outside
Just bought a brand new pair of snowshoes here. I actually upgraded from my beginner pair and thanks to Andrew giving me his infinite knowledge I was able to purchase a higher end pair with confidence knowing I was getting exactly what I needed for my intended purpose. I also needed to swap out a pair of boots that just didn’t fit right and I love that REI allows me to do so hassle free. I own many boots, all of which I’ve purchased through this location. I just can’t shop anywhere else and get the customer satisfaction that this place constantly has to offer!! Thanks REI!!
I came in to get some new shoes and the staff was super helpful in making recommendations to help me find a shoe that fits my needs.
The return policies are where they should be! One year. I have not tried to take anything back yet but hopefully they do what they say. Products are great, expensive but you get what you pay for!
Its an rei. High prices, tailored towards the buy a 500 dollar coat to walk the dog crowd, but Ive been a member forever, so I just pine for the days when they were quasi-affordable. Still good gear.
Garmin 1030 Plus, in stock, $100.00 off, thanks for the new bike computer, I wanted something to track a 200 mile ride on July 10th, because my old computer only lasted 150 miles.
Could buy this whole store and be livin my best life. Its comparable to being a kid in a candy store...
Great store with very helpful staff.
Always great customer service! Never disappointed being a long time member.
Anna at REI Clackamas Town Center was very good at customer service, and we would love to say thank you!
Fan-freakin-tastic service. Great physical distancing policy and gentle enforcement. Great REI.
Being a member of REI Co-op since 1974 it was a pleasure to shop in person while in Portland years ago. A fine outfitter of outdoorsy folk, great selections from clothing to footwear to bikes to camping & backpacking gear to freeze-dried foods and much more. Clean-as-a-whistle stores, the several Ive shopped in person in Oregon and Washington. This particular REI is my favorite. There are now over 5.5 million people belonging to the Co-op these days and the dividends that members receive at the end of the year based on purchases is always a nice perk. Recommended.
Its REI, really expensive iquipment. In all honesty I like them. I have shopped there for years. I get 10% back at the end of the year, also they have decent buyers, so they carry pretty good gear.
Love this place! Sofia was very friendly and helpful.
I like the garage sales! They always seem to have at least 1 good thing .
Wow, do they do social distancing well. Very good experience. Bought some Keen sandels and another pair of shoes. Great return policy. Highly recommended.
Safety protocols followed, helpful staff, and great deals on clearance this weekend
I would give five stars but I just keep being dismissed as a clueless female and having to feel like I need to prove myself and experience to not be directed towards lesser quality / beginner products.
Even with everything going on, theyre dealing with the situation very well and still have helpful and knowledgeable employees available. I came in 30 minutes before closing and it was very busy, but I found some great shoes and was out of there within 20 minutes. Yes, they are more expensive than other options, but with how much they give back to outdoor-related programs, I dont mind spending more here and there. Also, great job with sanitizing and keeping the health of their customers in mind!
Easy pick up and always have what we need
Got there as they opened. They are organized and COVID responsible. Stock on items limited. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
They had the fastest drive up/pickup service then any other place I have been during the pandemic. Took 2 mins from clicking the “I’m here” button on their website for them to have the order at my car window! Great/fast working staff!
We were looking for a camping lightweight mug and they had several choices.
The best place to go for quality camping and hiking gear, but the staffs knowledge of the activities you are planning for the optimal outdoor experience is what makes REI so good.
Jeff helped me select and fit a pair of boots like a pro! Grateful for the help.
Went in to get a good sleeping bag after purchasing my first hiking pack, and Monica helped me out both times and is super helpful!!
Employees are excellent as usual but particulary considering virus protocol.Flow and aisle designations are a little confusing to a recent visitor but I got the drift after a while. Cashier was great and helped me navigate email update.
Great experience from start to finish! I loved the customer service here since this is not my usual REI, and everyone was so NICE. We were greeted right when we walked into the store and were offered help to look for an item. Checkout was very fast & easy. The friendliest REI team I’ve met!
Rei is just awesome. Customer service. Guarantee satisfaction. Nothing else needed to be said.
Came in to do a return when the store was almost empty (no line). The woman, Aynur, working the cash register sneered at me, rolled her eyes and let out a scoffing laugh, screwing up her face and saying “Uhhhhhm.... Okay....” in a very annoyed tone after she asked me when I purchased the item and I told her it was sometime this summer. My partner and I were shocked. It was such an uncalled for, out of the blue response. Even though she had my member ID # and was looking at a list of my purchases, I guess it was a major inconvenience for her to find it. I’ve probably purchased 7 things from REI this year, it’s not like I was asking her to dig through a pile of receipts. This chick is wack, and left us feeling totally uncomfortable.
Always the very best and with an amazing return policy, now with great social distancing
Ive been in this store multiple times in the past. Had some great experiences. However today my wife called to get some info and was hung up on 4 times and when she finally got someone on the phone he was rude and disrespectful. Will not be shopping this location anymore.
Excellent service!!! This store did not have what I was looking for but made me feel wanted and appreciated. I ended up buying something more expensive and love it. Thank you for providing an amazing shopping experience.
The social distancing practices are better than other stores which made me feel safe while shopping.
I ordered a Snow Peak Bipod stove for pickup at this location. Arrived weeks before expected, which was a nice surprise. When I got to the store I parked in a Pick-Up spot, clicked a button in my email and quite quickly a gal came out and placed the stove in my trunk. Now, I had been calling this store and about 4 other stores for a week looking for either MSR or JetBoil fuel canisters for this stove, to no avail. Apparently there was a nationwide shortage. But since I had driven 30 minutes out to this REI, I thought Id call them one more time to check if they had gotten any fuel. Surprise, they had gotten a shipment that morning! I told the gal, Cris, that I had my dog in the car and it was hot, but Id like to buy a fuel canister. My dog isnt a service animal, so I was nervous about leaving her in the car. She said shed grab a canister for me and meet me at the register. I ran in, saw the line and got a little worried, but Cris! She came to the rescue! She beckoned me to follow her to the register at the back, where she checked me out ASAP. I was in and out in 3 minutes, back to my doggie with the car still cool, with a new stove and fuel to boot. Will definitely be giving my business to this store in the future. Thanks Cris!
Ben holding on to shoes to return for 2 months. Sat in the rain for 15 minutes just to get in. Got in,line is around the store! I’m at high risk! I can’t be an hour or more to do a return. REI has been doing curbside pickup for a month. Why can’t you do curbside returns !
Found a really cute hat at a fair price. The are practicing Covid safety.
Love rei !!!
Wonderful assistance and knowledge!
Great service. With covid not enough product in stock.
I got fitted for some ski boots recently. Andrew was the guy helping me and he was spectacular at his job. Super helpful, informative, knowledgeable and all around a great guy. Every REI needs an Andrew!!!!
I went to REI Clackamas store yesterday evening around 8:00 pm. In the store it was pretty quiet, not a whole lot of people shopping this late I suppose. I came in knowing exactly what I was looking for, a new pair of hiking shoes. I made my way upstairs and to the shoe section and that is where I met Ian, the sales associate in this area. I told Ian what I was looking for and he told me he could point me in a few different directions as far as shoes goes. Needless to say, he was amazing, he was very knowledgeable about the different shoes. He ended up pulling out 4 different pairs, all of a different brand, to give me a better idea of how they fit to my foot, he never seemed rushed or in a hurry to get me on my way. I ended up choosing the Keen Targahee II, it just felt the most comfortable to me. I had originally only came there to buy the shoes, but I ended up purchasing a pair of socks and some pants and also signed up for the REI Membership! It goes to show that employees of Ians caliber make a huge difference. I have done customer service work for 8+ years and there is nothing he could have done better! I would definitely shop at this REI again and hopefully if I need assistance again I will run into Ian! Thanks for the awesome experience!
It is clean, well stocked, and has knowledgeable staff which are all part of a great store. My issue is I can get everything they sell cheaper else wear, I think their customer base is willing to pay more just to say they shop there.
Ian was extremely helpful in finding me the right shoe for my upcoming adventures! All staff members were informative and friendly throughout the entire store. Im glad to be a new REI member :)
I bought some trail shoes here with wider toe box/area, I love my shoes, I’ve had them for several months now. They really help me when I run with my dogs on the trails.
Looking for a Garmin watch. Couldnt get any help. 2nd time.
Great prices and they do good work on bicycles
Everything in this store is super slow and inefficient. And I dont think the employees here really care that much about customer service.
(Knowing!?) Sells $400 obviously broken defective equipment at “Garage Sale” event without disclaimer “as is”, only found out after I got home and tried to “use” it. Shame on me for not trusting REI and thoroughly testing on-site, shame on REI for not disclosing and processing “unsatisfied customer” return as warranty service.
STOP. Consider all the life choices you’ve made and reflect upon if they have included purchasing an REI membership. The dividend, the garage sales, the sensational return policy and the brilliant staff make dumping your hard earned cash at REI one of the best life decisions you could make
Safe as they can make shopping and service is great.
Since REI has chosen to close their retail doors to the public, I recently placed an order on the REI website. I usually like to shop the retail store but understand the fear and panic pandemic that has struck our country. After ordering a Garmin GPS unit online, I thought the process was over. Then I received an e-mail and phone message from REI. I called the number left for me and waited on hold. After talking to a REI representative (I can only assume) they confirmed my information was correct then informed me I would be placed on hold again while they contact REI bankcard services. After sitting on hold again, I was told the individual handling this at REI bankcard services was at lunch and could I call back again in a little while. So much for REI service, Cabelas retail stores are open for business and have the Garmin Overland GPS in stock! REI was my go-to, but like I said, they chose to close and stop living life.
Great place for outdoor gear whether you just need something for the weather around town, or youre looking to outfit for an expedition. This location has it all with friendly, knowledgeable staff that not only know the technical specs, but can offer their own experience to help you find what you need for your adventure.
Always a pleasure.
During a trip to the Clackamas REI, two different employees gave me/my family sass when asking on separate occasions to look for an item. One of them told me to stop looking through a stack of clothing because I had already made enough of a mess. As someone who has worked in retail maintaining a floor, this is NOT the way to address a customer. I will probably not be returning to this REI in the future.
I had to exchange a self inflating sleeping pad due to a defective valve that has taken four outings to pinpoint. The cashier was grilling me about not having my receipt ( I couldnt find it and figured REI takes care of customers...), not being a member ( their store are inconvenient for Vancouver anymore) and having had it for a year. She finally found my proof of purchase with my debit card but still offered me less credit than I paid and I had to talk her into giving me in-store credit so I could replace the sleeping pad that was now discontinued. The bright side is that I was able to find a Thermorest brand pad that met my needs. Its not as thick or long as my old one but it was on clearance, so I was able to get it for the amount of credit I was given. Not the same quality of service I have come to expect from REI. I happened to be returning from a scout outing and both my son and I were in uniform but apparently I still could not be trusted by a company that is known for taking care of customers.
I just got home from the Clackamas REI and was so impressed with the staff! Even though it was the used gear sale and the place was crazy, everyone was attentive and helpful. Dan helped us outside to figure out how to install a Thule rack system on my car while another man (I wish I knew his name!) helped my boyfriend find the perfect fit in ski boots and looked up all the right sizes of cargo boxes for my Mazda. I cannot say enough good things about this REI- they never disappoint!
This place is great, been there for a bit going through bags.. when Mike showed up. He gave me great insight and advice(novice globetrotter) helped me find a great globe travel backpack, had a lot of information, pointed out the hidden pockets I over looked, the benefits of the brand Osprey.. Matt helped me checkout and again was fantastic. I can confidently say I am now an REI member as well as have a pack thats going to last me many years and memories.Thank you REI! And thank you to both Mike and Matt, hugs and smiles!!
Called to get details on some shoes they had on their website. Girl answered said she was with another customer and that she would be with me in just a moment or two. Got left on hold for over 5mins before I finally hung up. The store had literally only been open 30min. I have never shopped here before and not sure I will go in now after I cant even make one phone call to get information.
Wouldnt go back, expensive, lines are long, kids are running around the store the whole time we were in here (20 minutes) and staff sees this and does NOTHING? They do have a good return policy though!
Great service. Knowledgeable staff. Found a great pair of all season hiking boots!
I had to return a pair of unused boots I purchased in another state. They were amazing. Friendly and easy to work with.
My boss recommend going to REI to get outfitted for field work in the mountains. Coming from the Midwest and not being outdoorsy, I was super intimidated walking in the door. But I told the staff what I was doing, and was met with nothing but friendliness. They walked me through the items I needed and took time to educate me on why I needed them and how important it is to layer. I was super intimidated and scared walking in, but walked out feeling much better. There was no judgement or talking down to me. Everyone was happy to help, knowledgeable, and friendly. I paid $20 to become a member and Im looking forward to attending some of the educational classes and outings that they host.
You couldnt find more knowledgeable and helpful people anywhere. Quality merchandise, with a 100percent guarantee. Their website is excellent. You can order online and pick up at the store.
I was picking up my bike after a tuneup. But the bike mechanic gave me helpful advice about a tail light that tends to fall off the rack on my bike.
I went in looking for waterproof shoes for my hard-to-fit feet. Gina in the footwear department really went out of her way to find a shoe that fit well and was comfortable. She showed me different lacing techniques to shop my heels from slipping in everything. I was also looking to buy some insoles and she made sure I bought the right ones for my arch. Unfortunately I needed to go up a half a size or so in the shoes I decided on and they didnt have them in store, but Ill order them online. She was very personable and even showed me pictures of her adorable new puppy. It was a great experience and if you want to find the right shoes fast, Gina is the person to go to!
Staff are always helpful and knowledgable and speak to my level of understanding for an activity. I never feel uncomfortable asking questions and usually can leave with the best answers and gear I need to continue my outdoor activities! This is my GO-TO REI in the area.
Great experience, overall. Went to purchase an all weather coat/system. Got an awesome North Face system. However, 5 months into owning this system, the zipper pulls on the pockets of the fleece liner, zipped right off! I work outdoors, so staying dry is a must. In the end, it was not waterproof. It said that it was, but it wasnt. Im returning the coat, & hope to at least, get it exchanged. 300.00 is more money than I can afford to throw away!
Has great selection and quality gear with affordable prices. Amazing membership benefits makes it a top store for most camping or hiking enthusiasts!
My second trip that I was ignored by staff. Once you get their attention they do a good job. I should not have to work hard to spend money there. Considering finding another place to purchase the rest of my backpacking gear.
Always amazing service! Staff have always give me great ideas for places to explore, as well as money saving tips. They actually care about the customer and not trying to sell the most expensive thing in the store.
