Ive ordered from them just short of a dozen times, and they do not disappoint! Always consistently great pizza. The dough is thin and crispy yet satisfies that breadiness you want. The pizza size is perfect. You think you need more if youre gluttonous like me...but its actually very filling. Ive tried all the flavors, including seasonal ones and all are great. Nothing beats the super fungi in flavor (its my favorite :))I had ordered 15 pies for my quarantine birthday lol and had them partly cooked so that we could finish them off in our oven at home. The ranch is unbeatable in flavor; perfect amount of dill.Waaaay better than follow your heart brand or trying to make your own. Its kinda spendy but worth it.
My first time trying vegan pizza and it was nice. I got a forager pizza (features mushrooms, Italian sausage and cashew mozzarella), which tastes great and very quickly piece after piece I ate it all. Its a little bit dry and greasy though, to be honest. Also got a side quinoa salad, refreshing and delicious. No dining in at the moment but the restaurant shares some bench tables in a patio area with a couple of other places, so depending on the time of the day you may be able to sit down and enjoy the pizza fresh off the oven.
My partner is vegan and I am not. I don’t mind eating it most of the time. This time I was over joyed to do so. The pizza was incredible. Everything about it was perfectly balanced and the flavor was incredible. He had the Fungi pizza and I had the Stranger things (Buffalo cauliflower). I could not have been more impressed. Who knew vegan blue cheese could taste like this!! And the cannoli was everything I love about treats! You’d be doing yourself a disservice if you are in this area and you don’t eat here.
We had the sausage and pepper pizza it was delicious if a little greasy. The mac and cheese was to die for! The takeout service was quick and friendly. The garlic knots were almost amazing but a little doughy in the middle...maybe undercooked? I wish they had some outdoor seating to eat there. Or even limited indoor seating would be nice. The house made mozzarella was on point. I would recommend and try again some day.
My girlfriend and I were craving some pizza and ice cream to celebrate being fully vaccinated and we stumbled on this amazing gem of a place. The ice cream was INSANE. Every bite was so amazing and felt so fresh, and the pizza was to die for. The Ingredients were also so fresh and the dough was PERFECT. We cannot wait to be back so we can try everything else on the menu. As someone new to being vegan, this was the best pizza place hands down. Thank you for all you do and shout out to the amazing girl who took our order! Your customer service was amazing!
Had heard great things about this place and am looking forward to going back. We only stopped by for ice cream and homemade waffle cones this go round, but will definitely be back to try pizza, mac n cheese and other delicious goodies. We were kindly greeted upon walking in! We gave the Marionberry and Stawberry & Cream a shot. They were good flavors. Felt a bit overpriced for ice cream but it was still worth it.Looking forward to checking out additional menu items upon our return!
We are constantly exploring VG food wherever we go.We ordered a pizza here and garlic knots.Pizza was not so great and felt less flavored. The garlic knots are the best.
Boy do I love this place! What a great lunch or dinner spot with super fast service and delicious food!Staff were friendly and attentive, plus super helpful in recommendations for my mother who was visiting for the first time. We appreciated the free sparkling water too!The mac n cheese and street corn pizzas were fresh and (importantly) yummy!Highly recommend this place!!!
After many recommendations from my coworkers, I stopped by Virtuous Pie to pick up my online order; the Pesto CBR was delicious!Ill be going back to try another pie soon, and now that I know they have dessert Ill plan better and grab some ice cream and a Cannoli too!
Always a treat to go here. You need to take a friend so you can share the kale Caeser salad and garlic knots with your pizza. Top off this epic meal with cannoli. Do it. Never disappointed. Gourmet vegan gluttony!!
Absolutely phenomenal pizza. Plant based or not, the flavors, textures and selection will blow you away. The garlic knots are to die for, we tried the margherita pizza and loved it and ended our trip with the ice cream flight. Oh my word, those ice cream flavors were UNREAL. I asked my husband if we can come back every day.. sorry not sorry. New favorite restaurant.
Mediterranean pizza was good. Garlic knots are a must try. Ketchup would have been nice.
Greatest experience Ive ever had in terms of vegan pizza, sides, ice cream, and more. Honestly the pizza could give any regular pizza a run for its money! The service was pretty quick and everyone was very courteous. Would visit a million times over if I wasnt here on vacation.
Virtuous Pie is my absolute favorite place to eat in Portland!!! From the pizza, to the Mac, to the garlic knots - they have so many amazing vegan choices. If you really want to treat yourself to some comfort food, head down to this place immediately!
Vegan pizza!!! Loved it had it delivered through grubhub. Cant wait till I can try it again. The pepperoni pizza was to die for
Very good. Service sometimes friendlier than others but for great vegan pizza, cant go wrong.
Super tasty vegan pizza, and garlic knots in downtown Portland. There was ice cream too but we were too full for that.
Wow! Im usually a traditionalist when it comes to pizza toppings and worried that the offerings here would be too fancy or artisan for my pedestrian palate. I neednt have been hesitant. We came for Saturday brunch and tried the Eat Your Taters and the Meatball and Chevre pizzas. So good! Fresh ingredients, delicious, toothsome crust, and generous 10 portions. Sat at the counter upstairs for great people watching in this clean, modern space. Mostly communal, family style seating, which is never my preference, but they make it comfortable. Nice staff, too! Next time: homemade ice cream!
Absolutely love this place! Pizza was beyond amazing. Their vegan pies were on point! They also had gluten free crust and could accommodate cross contamination. The ingredients they use is very good and high quality. I have my diet restrictions and rarely a resturant can accommodate them all but virtuous pie did the trick! My only complaint was the use of soy oil in their pans to cook the pizza. If they were to replace this it would be a beyond clean choice for me personally. Amazing workers too. They were willing to read out all the ingredients for me to check on my limitations. Delicious food!
I am in food love...I dont want to leave this place. 100% Vegan. Great fast service. Quality ingredients. Tasty flavors. The best garlic knots, Mac and cheese, and pizza I have had...period!!! Love that they have Happy hour and so many homemade ice cream choices. The ambiance is simple and lovely. A great sanctuary on a rainy day. Mads, our server was personable, helpful, and truly kind.
We were so impressed with our dinner at Virtuous Pie! It was so so good. I hate the street corn pizza which was flavorful and tasty. My dad had the Stranger Wings pizza, which was delicious. We had ice cream flights for dessert and let me tell you, some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! Just amazing.
The pizza may be a bit costly but they are well worth it! My pizza was delectable and I literally went all Cookie Monster on it. Gobble, Gobble, Gone! The crust had the perfect crisp-to-chew texture and was very flavorful. The toppings, oh Gawd, the toppings were fantastic and paired together for robust, but not overwhelming, tastiness. This place is awesome! They also deliver through a few third-party companies. Vegan pizza to your door! #pinchme #Imdreaming
Food was fantastic this was our second time coming here. 1st was in 2018 and second in 2021 food is amazing staff was very friendly!
Virtuous Pie was everything that I hoped it would be. I’m vegan and always looking for places where I don’t have to worry about what’s actually in the food because it was all vegan. My favorite is the ultraviolet pizza which was so so good. The ice cream is also to die for. The food is delicious and doesn’t leave you feeling bloated and too full. I would recommend for any plant lover.
Tired of substitutions and modifications to make a vegan pizza? Well, look no further!Virtuous Pie has amazing vegan options to suit any palette. The crust is thin and crispy, the cheese is stretchy and melted and the toppings are cooked to perfection. At reasonable prices, these pizzas will fill you up.If youre going with a group, make sure to to try as many different pizzas as you can. You will not regret it!If thats not enough, you can also try their ice cream (and yes, their waffle cones are vegan!). It is somewhat on the higher end for a cone, but its perfect as a cold dessert on a hot day.
Great place if your a vegan as all of their menu is vegan friendly and the prices are reasonable.
Better than most non-vegan pizza places. A little pricey but absolutely worth it!
If people ate vegan food like this, they would NEVER miss animals products. I have been here several times and am always amazed at how yummy everything is. One of my favorite things is the mac and cheese that has vegan bacon on it. I dont know what their bacon is made from (and I dont even know what bacon tastes like), but it is soooooo good. If you go during their happy hour, it feels like a steal to get food this good at such a low pice. Highly recommend.
I’m quite surprised how highly this place is reviewed. It wasn’t badddd but the $5 kale Caesar side salad wasn’t more than a literal handful and the $15 pizza was lukewarm. it had decent flavor, nothing mind blowing, but for the price I can’t rationalize going back
My gosh! The pizza was delicious, the kombucha refreshing, and the ice cream was satisfying. The perfect cherry on top!As an appetizer, we got the Mac and Cheese Skillet (Creamy Cashew Cheese Sauce, Macaroni Pasta, Bacon Bits, Parmesan, Parsley) you will not go wrong with this one! It was so rich and delicious. The flavors popped and the pasta melted in your mouth. Anything with cashew cheese is pretty darn delicious.I had the Ultraviolet Pizza which consisted of Walnuts, Arugula Pesto, Cashew Mozzarella, Oven-Dried Tomatoes, Kale, Caramelized Onion, and Pine Nuts. The boyfriend got the Sweet Pepper and Sausage which contained San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Cashew Mozzarella, House-made Italian Sausage, Red Peppers + Onions, and Hot Honey!I had the kombucha on tap and I believe it was seasonal so I think I had a rosé inspired Kombucha. It was not too sugary and not too strong which is how I like my kombucha. To add, the Bourbon Vanilla ice cream scoop with their homemade scone was to die for!! Normally with vegan ice cream, to compensate for the dairy, they add too much sugar and extra non-daily creamers and thus it makes the ice cream high in sugar and almost sorbet-like but this one was soft, did not taste too much like sorbet, and was not too sugary. But the cone....it literally broke if you were not careful and that is what makes it so special. You can taste that they had made it probably that morning. I, unfortunately, did not take a picture of it.Whatever you might be craving, they have it here. Pizzas, kombucha, desserts, coffee, tea, alcohol, happy hour, you name it!TIP: The restroom is not inside the facility but right outside, pass the hallway. Long lines...And yes, this place is all vegan. :)
I love the pizza, it’s always great! However, the tiny entree salad I received this week was ridiculous. It was barely a side salad for one person, filling only 1/4 of the container. Disappointing
I couldnt believe it was vegan. Even the ice cream was soooooo good.
As a gf vegan it’s my favorite pizza spot in Portland!
I had the Ultraviolet pizza with arugula (& a side of the vegan ranch) & the Kale Ceasar. One of the absolute best vegan pizzas I’ve ever had 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾. This is something special here, and I’ve been all over looking for good vegan pizza. Nailed it :)
Always delicious, always lovely interactions with the staff. And that vegan earl grey cannoli!!!!!! 10/10
Great pizza!! I also love their kale and squash salad. Im not vegan and was on the fence about vegan cheese at first, but they do a really nice job with it. Definitely want to work my way through the menu.
I REALLY wanted to love this place. Im sure their regular crust is delicious, but the gluten free crust is really not worthy, and far from being virtuous. The first time I ordered a GF pizza from here I thought it was just cooked wrong. The crust was soggy and couldnt support itself. The pizza was cold and had to be reheated.I ordered the same thing the second time and the crust was soggy and flavorless, and the whole pizza was cold and I had to reheat it again.Edit:Im very curious to know where they get their gluten free dough and whats in it because I had a reaction to it. Its now 3:25 pm the next day and Im still sick from having eaten it.
We bought a pizza each as well as garlic knots, mac&cheese, Ice Cream, and a cannoli. The food was nothing special (pizza was bland, the garlic knots were over spiced, and the desserts were sickeningly sweet, as well as not being able to taste the earl grey in the cannoli) and definitely not worth the price. It also had the unfortunate side effect of making me incredibly sick. We are just passing through and tried another vegan place yesterday without issue. All in all I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Pizza was amazing!!! Cool atmosphere and super friendly and helpful staff. I am not vegan but that did not stop me from enjoying some of the best pizza Portland has to offer!!! I would definitely recommend the sweet pepper and sausage pizza. If you like savory and spicy with a hint of sweet this pizza is your ticket! Also, would highly recommend finishing with a scoop of their delicious icecream🤤
It was out first time in Portland and we were so excited to try this place out. They did not disappoint! The location is beautiful. Great atmosphere and very spacious. The staff was lovely. And considering they make the pizzas to order, it was fast. The drinks are strong and the food is so flavourful! Can’t wait for them to come to Toronto. You can chose from a variety of sauces and ice creams to take home as well!
The food was all right but the prices were insane, dudes really made me pay $7 for four garlic knots and they burnt them, I still ate said burnt garlic knots because I was hungry. The portioning all-around was terrible for the price, I feel I was overcharged for the miniscule amount of food I received
Excellent! After ordering some vegan donuts at Voodoo, our cashier recommended Virtuous. We ended up going the next night and it was the correct choice! We got 2 pizzas that were both excellent - especially the Stranger Wings. We also got the Mac & Cheese and an ice cream flight and everything was wonderful!
This place is vegan good. Most of the time when food is trying to be something it is not it does not go well. Started with a kayle salad that was really good and a cauliflower buffalo wing appetizer. We tried three different pizzas, Ultraviolet, Margarita, and sausage with sweet pepper. The best was the sausage pizza. The beer was wonderful! The ice cream sounded better than it was. We had two flights of three scoops each. We enjoyed the chocolate the best. Eating outside at the beginning of September was delightful!
Cant get over this place we ordered it at the birth center after a long birth and it was a hit with the non vegans too. They could not get over how good it was (told them it would be) but so happy I got to turn others on to this fantastic place. The garlic knots are the best so good you will want to add them to your order for sure!
Lovely vegan pizza spot, nice staff, good house made drinks
First time visiting and definitely not the last. We got the Ultraviolet pizza with garlic ranch dipping sauce which was amazing! The pizza is made right in front of you with. The side of Caesar salad we got was incredible and included pieces of flavorful shiitake. The house made almond parmesan in the shaker is a must try! Unfortunately didnt have room for ice cream but well be back.
I once ate meat. Now, I am vegan! Life of Pie WAS my spot. NOW, VIRTUOUS PIE has my taste buds, money, and life. 😆
They have vegan gluten free and soy free pizzas. You have to pay extra for toppings. My favorite is stranger wings. It is spicy; very spicy. They have good customer service. Ice cream is delicious gluten-free cones! Pizzas are between 14$ to 20$ they are 12.Update!!Last time I came here was great until they change the crust it is still vegan gluten-free, but it contains soy. I have a sensitivity to soy, but my partner is severely allergic to soy. We went to Portland last week, and so we ordered a pizza to go and asked if it was still soy free they assured us that it was. Five minutes after eating, my partner started vomiting, and I started having a stomachache, so we called the restaurant, and they told me that pizzas have soy. I told the person that a guy told us there was no soy in their pizzas. My partner was severely ill, and they apologized, but it did not fix the fact that no all the employees know the ingredients. If you go, make sure to ask many times as possible if you are getting the right order. If you are allergic to soy. Customer service is friendly, but not enough when it comes to allergies. We wont go back to this place.
We were there on 6/18 after not being there for a long time. Pizzas seemed smaller than before and the main ingredients on them was a very small amount. Also the mac and cheese portion was half of what it used to be. The ginger lemonade I ordered, I asked for it with light ice and the cup was only 3/4’s full. Very expensive for what you get. That was our last time there.
After I completed my first marathon there was only one place I wanted to go: Virtuous Pie! This picture is of a delusional me laying in the back of our minivan while my wife drove the family to Virtuous Pie so I could start to replenish the 3,000 calories I burned running 26.2 miles. I have eaten at VP several times before and after this race, so it wasn’t just the extreme hunger drawing me there. We have taken non-vegan friends to VP and they can’t believe something so good could be plant based! Ha! Silly carnivores, plants are delicious!
AMAZING highly recommend. Best vegan pizza I have ever tried & staff is very friendly
We got the ultraviolet and while it tasted great, it was by far the most oily pizza Ive ever had. There was a thick layer of oil underneath the pizza and a thick layer on top. I put several napkins on my slices to soak up loads of oil. Im not a health conscious eater at ALL so Ive had plenty of pizza, but the level of oil on this thing was gross. It was my first time there and Ive heard good things from others, so Im giving Virtuous Pie the benefit of the doubt. Maybe its just the ultraviolet thats really oily. Or maybe the chef had an off day. Ill go back to try a different pizza sometime and see how it is.We also got an ice cream flight with coffee & donuts, pastry party, and mint chocolate. They were all tasty but a bit grainy. Not my first (or second) choice for vegan ice cream, especially at this price point.
Since there is only take out, got the Ultraviolet pizza and had to eat in the car. The pizza was tasting really good and the pine nuts were the best part. Will visit again.
Went for happy hour and tried the ultraviolet & calabrese for $10 a piece. Really light, crisp, but chewy crusts. The garlic knots are great & you need to try their house made ranch. Amazing and unique flavours all around. Had the ice cream flight afterwards. My Gawd! The ice cream is so good. Coffee+donuts & turmeric+black pepper are a must-try!
Vegan pizza is life! The BLT pie tasted like eating the best BLT of your life. Perfectly crispy and chewy crust, delicious sauce, and somehow they made bacon come back from the grave for me! I love you Virtuous Pie! Ill be dreaming of you.P.s., try a scoop of ice cream in a waffle cone, you wont be sorry.
Everything here is vegan! And absolutely delicious. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and I really enjoyed the vegan feta mixed in. It was so good I picked up a second pizza for dinner later.Honestly I preferred the margherita pizza to the street corn pizza, but thats just personal preference, the street corn pizza was still good. I guess Im just a little more basic in my preferences when it comes to pizza flavors.
