Great service. First visit the tech spent at least 30 min with me trying to get my “old” Mac up to speed. It helped there’s only so much you can do. No charge of course. When I went back for a new machine I was directed to a refurbished Mac and saved a bundle. I’m a very happy guy. Got everything I need thanks to all of you at CityMac.

I’ve been going to City Mac for almost 10 years for my Mac help. It’s easy to get in and people are always pleasant & accessible. Will has been helping me the last few years & he is Always patient, and doesn’t make me feel totally techno-computer ignorant. This is the second time we have used City Mac and both experiences have been great. Honest about repairs and quick turnaround time. This most recent issue with our laptop was a quick fix and was resolved At no charge. We will use again although we always hope we dont have to!
Came in with a computer with questionable application problems. They did a thorough check on it. And even ordered a part that maybe would probably fix it. Unfortunately that part wasn’t the only problem that I had. But they were generous enough to give me a free check up. That’s right I didn’t pay one penny! Great staff
I am not a frequent customer, have been to your business at the location on Whitaker and also twice to your new location on 122nd. Every time I have been to CityMac I have always left feeling like I have be treated with honesty and respect towards my limited computer knowledge. I have been offered upgrades and explained how they would benefit my system, but never have been pressured to do so. Due to the attitude of CityMac when I step up to a newer laptop I will purchase it from CityMac. Also any eternal devices will also be purchased from CityMac.

Fast efficient service, helpful staff. My MacBook Pro butterfly keyboard died on me a month after my extended warranty ended. CityMac replaced it as part of the recall program, free of charge. Dropped off on Monday, had it done Thursday. Im back in business!

I’ll start off by saying, AWESOME service from CityMac. These guys are funny and professional.I dropped my phone down a flight of stairs onto concrete, saying my screen was broken is an understatement.I came in to CityMac early in the morning and had to work late so I was gonna pick it up the next day.I surprisingly got time off work early instead and came by right before closing time to see if there was any chance my phone would be done that day.Turns out, it wasn’t but they knocked it out so quick and did such a fantastic job. Major kudos to the guy in the back who finished my phone with such late notice. Absolute lifesaver.I have apple care and I only paid $30.00 out of pocket since it was my first repair.Highly recommend this location, thanks CityMac!!

I had a bizarre (at least to me) OS issue after merging two different machines together.I called and asked when I could leave the combined unit for City Macs tech wizards to sort out the anomalies.So I brought it out the day we agreed upon.They called me shortly after with the real problem. They couldn’t decipher my crummy handwriting to read my password. Oops.After that they texted me in a few hours to say “come on in and get it”! So I did the very next morning and now it works flawlessly.Great guys. Great service techs too.

Expertise, value, honesty, and thoughtfulness are the specialties of this shop. My partner’s MacBook Air started struggling after I exposed it carelessly to a misty Portland spring morning. They diagnosed what was going on, tried some new parts, and when those parts didn’t help, they offered to ship it to Apple headquarters for more intensive surgery. Although they thoroughly ran several rounds of tests and tried new parts (a logic board, in particular), they charged me nothing. I am so grateful for their inclusive and direct approach!
They have so much experience with all my trouble. I feel the positive energy from the store. I get safe for my Apple device right here.
Somehow I downloaded some virus protection software like McAffee and it just went from a slow browser to not being able to get on line. Took my Mac in this morning, no success on a quick fix, couple of days.. ouch! Couple of hours later Dave calls, my computer is ready. On the way to pick it up I am thinking, one maybe two hundred, ouch, but no, not even close, great people, great job, they turned a bad day into a great one! Thanks.
It took a few days and some technical collaboration, but they found a tricky little problem another repair shop missed. My 2012 PowerBook runs much better now. Very satisfied!

I’ve been to this east side Mac store several times over the years and it has always been a pleasant, friendly place to visit. The service department is great and though I haven’t had a lot of maintenance issues, they’ve always been able to fix me up in a timely manner!
I came in to hopefully get a phone fixed after spending hours online with Apple and learning that they wouldn’t allow me to ship it in. It’s a 60 mile drive for me but I’m glad I went because they found 3rd party issues that were expensive to fix and I ended up buying a refurbished iPhone from them. I’ve been going here for years to get my Macs wiped clean. They also have a great selection of mac products for sale, headphones, and accessories. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are also fair.
Warranty covered repair of my Mac book - they did the work quickly and returned it to me earlier then estimated.
I have done business in the past but, the last time failed. I brought my computer for repair at it had more to do with Apple upgrades then anything else. Then when I return home I fine that I can’t get into my computer so I called and nobody answer. I had to then drive back to get what should have been taken care of the first time around. I all I traveled nearly 200 mile round trip to get a problem repaired due to the lousy Apple upgrades. This will be my last Apple product.

Worked with Brian to order a new iPhone. There was a delay in the expected delivery date of the phone, yet Brian kept me informed of the status, he called me, I didnt have to call and check on the status. Once the phone arrived, he set up my new phone and prepared the old phone for my husband. Brian was easy to deal with - didnt make either of us feel like we were asking too many questions. We received great customer service from Brian! We will be repeat customers.

This is a cautionary review of the business as a provider of computer repair. My impression, based on my experience (which was limited to a one drop off and one pick up) is that it is more expensive than the Apple store and that it MAY BE a place to get scammy or incompetent service. My experience was as follows. I took my wifes laptop in, around mid day on a weekday. I was the only customer in the shop, which was not an encouraging sign (as shops that provide great and trustworthy service at a competitive price tend to be busy). They accepted the computer and said they would try to diagnose the problem, which was that the display was not working. The next day I got a call saying that the logic board needed to be replaced, with the result that the data would be lost and I would need to pay a little under $1000, with the precise sum to depend on whether they did the work themselves or instead shipped the computer to Apple. I replied that I would have to ask my wife and would let them know once we had decided how to proceed. The next day (a Saturday) I returned to the shop, which this time had one other patron present--only one, on a Saturday in the Portland Metro area! I asked to have a look at the computer, placed it in its case, verified that there were no charges as yet, and walked out the door, hopeful that they had not purposefully sabotaged it. (Am I paranoid? It is really creepy for a business to have no customers to speak of.) I took it to the Apple store a few days later, from which it got shipped off to the repair center for a replacement not of the logic board (which would have been a little costlier, and replacement of which would have destroyed the data held on the computer) but of the display. The bill was still substantial, but almost $200 less than what the City Mac people wanted for a highly destructive replacement of the logic board. Incidentally, I did not ask who was who there, but the shop, despite being a ghost town, seems regularly to be populated by one or more employees. If the owner would let them go, get his tail in there, and do the work, he might have a successful business. My impression is that it is a failing business, which might offer honest and reliable service but that I will no longer dream of trusting not to (1) innocently mess up my computer, (2) charge me quite a bit more than the Apple store, (3) outright scam me, in a desperate attempt to stay open despite delivering poor or overpriced service to its dwindling customer base, or (4) do all of the above.
It’s nice to do business with a small retailer than a big box or big electronics store. From the moment I walked in to look at computers till the final purchase, I felt comfortable with the atmosphere and with Casey,, the sales manager. He was very patient and knowledgeable, asked clarifying questions to make sure I was getting what I needed not what needed to be sold to meet a quota. This is the 4th computer I have bought from CityMac. Ill buy my 5th computer here, too.Thank you CityMac for being such a stellar place to buy from.

I took in an iphone to be repaired. All they cleaned out the port and it was fine. There was no charge since they do diagnostics for free. This is the second time I went to them and both times they were friendly and fast.
Casey did a great job restoring our iPad. We had an issue with it locking up during the iOS update leaving it unusable. Casey unlocked it, completed the update and didnt even charge us. We are grateful, and would definitely recommend this store.
I work for the IT Operations team in a mid-sized not-for-profit company in Portland. In my job I manage about 200 Apple devices. Apple, in my opinion, does a very poor job of supporting business clients in their Apple Stores so I’m dependent on responsive, trustworthy vendors for support. CityMac is the company I trust. When I bring a device in, I already know what the problem is. I need to get in and out quickly, I need repairs done quickly, and I need to trust that they are doing quality work as economically as possible. CityMac hits the mark every time. The best example I can give of their commitment to customer service actually involves a repair that didn’t go well. I brought in a three-year-old MacBook Pro that had a bad connection in the display. That machine was scheduled to be replaced in the next fiscal year so I wanted an estimate and to check our book value before I committed to the repair. It ended up being a close call but I opted to replace the display. When I picked up the device the tech told me that he noticed that the battery was swollen. Replacing the battery/top-case pushed that repair WAY into the red on our books. When I questioned the judgement of replacing the display on a machine with other problems, the tech offered to escalate to a manager. Two days later, I got a call saying that the MacBook Pro was ready to pick up—with a new top-case—no charge. It’s kind of ironic that they have done dozens of repairs for me without any problems, and this repair ended up being the one that locked me and my company in as loyal customers. Not only do the have me for life, they got an evangelist to sing their praises. Great service, guys!

City Mac did very well in restoring my old system with no loss of apps which I’ve used so far and the return of usage for apps that Apple seemed to eliminate with the new Catalina system. I don’t know why Apple does that kind of thing when they create a new “improved” system. It’s very irritating, almost making me think I need to change to a Window’s computer when I get my next computer. I also didn’t see a whole lot of improvements with Catalina over Mojave. At any rate, I am very happy with City Mac for restoring the Mojave system and a low cost, and making my needed apps work again. Thank you, City Mac. (Boo, Apple).Fred Riedel

I was planning to spare CityMac’s reputation and not publish this experience, but I was solicited via sms and the podium link they sent me did not allow me to review using Safari on an iPad, so here goes... I brought my MacBook in for assessment and they responded quickly repair would be upwards of $800, so I brought it home to wipe the SSD. I could not remove the bottom cover because one of the screws was obviously cross threaded and the head was partially stripped while the screw apparently was torqued in. After destroying two AP5 star bits while trying to extract the screw, my only option was to force the cover off and mangle the frame. I successfully extracted the SSD, but now the MacBook is truly toast and I need to replace my tools.
Brian went beyond, way beyond, in helping me to understand how to use the Apple I Pad. I am a beginner, a real beginner, and he was so good to me, considering I didn’t even understand any of the basic answers he needed. I am greatful for all the time Brian spent with me....was considerable .
I had issues opening my new iPad mini 5, the staff was more than willing to help resolve my issue by updating the firmware, resetting a new password and making sure everything is running properly before I left the store. Brought in computer with problems. Will found 9 malicious files. He found and corrected a setting that was causing my internet to drop out. He removed settings that caused my safari to load many unwanted sites In the background. Now the internet stays connected and runs 4 times as fast as its best moments before. He did all this while I watched. He charged zero — absolutely free! Will is generous, pleasant to be with, and incredibly quick and competent!!

We had a disaster with our IT guy upgrading the ram and hard drive in our 27” iMac... after months of back and forth we finally took it to CityMac and they were able to whip it into shape in ONE day... ONE!!!! Their expertise in Apple products is beyond compare. I have learned my lesson and will now bring all my Apple equipment to CityMac first.. and save a ton of time and $$$$.
