This is one of my favorite stores to buy gifts for my friends and treats for myself. The artistry is unique and beautiful with a wide variety of pieces to pick from. The jewelry is amazing as well. If you are looking for a special one of a kind gift and you are in Portland, Boothbay Harbor or Kennebunkport make sure you stop by. It will definitely be worth every minute.

I am born and raised in Portland and no matter where I live, I always come back to Abacus. One of a kind jewelry hand crafted by American artisans, beautifully displayed in an eye appealing way. Abacus truly is a gem in the Old Port. My latest purchase was earrings - bracelet - necklace all with pearls hand crafted by various American jewelers. I am an ocean girl at heart and Abacus always has the jewelry that catches my beyond picky - eye! The staff are always friendly and leave me be to do my shopping but are right there for any questions I may have.As a jeweler myself I appreciate the hand crafted one of a kind items Abacus offers. I know I won’t see my jewelry on another - ever. Stop by and browse their selection - I dare you to leave without at least one piece - I never can! A million stars!

The store is fine, but policies they advocate are bad for Portland. They strongly advocated against making Exchange Street a pedestrian street. They wanted to retain parallel parking when there is parking garages right around the corner. I will not shop here anymore and I let people know that Abacus prefers parking to streets full of people, food, and fun.

We visited Abacus for the first time recently, even though wed been to Portland many times. Never knew what we were missing. Such a fun and eclectic gallery. The staff were great letting us wander, but very willing to answer our questions. We will surely be back soon - I guess we have to since we ordered a few framed prints and will be back to pick them up😀

Love this place. A bit of everything. Not full of tourist trinkets. Instead, a couple of floors full of unique items you will want to take home and display. From paintings, to sculpture, unique clocks and glassware, jewelry - really a great collection.
