First off, I want to say that this hardware store doesnt always have what I need, but when they dont, my heart drops, because it means I will have to go to somewhere else.I go out of my way to come to this particular Ace hardware if I can because of exactly one reason: The manager is the best Ive ever seen in any retail store. Ive seen him be reassuring to concerned employees, incredibly calm and helpful to difficult customers, and just insanely knowledgeable about everything they do and do not have.One time we made the mistake of letting our 5yr old carry a freshly mixed gallon of dark teal paint out, but it did not make it past the inside rugs. She stumbled, and the top popped off sending a dark teal pool filling the entryway. The manager was there in moments, directing employees, cleaning the mess, and most surprisingly, though we admitted it was our fault for overestimating our 5yr olds carrying capacity, he offered without asking to get us a new gallon for free.Im writing this review today because I overheard him reassuring the girl at checkout about the way she had just handled a difficult situation in the store. She is lucky to have such an emotionally intelligent and genuinely caring manager. And WE are lucky to have a store in our neighborhood run by a staff that doesnt make you feel like you are wasting their time.I always feel welcome here. There is no substitute for a well-run hardware store and this is it.

Went in to get a set of hex wrenches. Employees hovering within 10 feet of me the entire time. Staring down the back of my neck. Im a paying customer youve made feel extremely uncomfortable. Bought my tools, used em, returned em. Dont support these rude people. Go to OReillys.

My first visit to this store. Greeted as I walked in and asked if I need help.I was shown a selection of the product I needed and the purpose of each different make depended on the work load. Very reasonable prices.Very helpful and I got what I needed fast. Check out was a breeze too.Highly recommend this place especially if you need help to decide what suits best for your requirement.I didnt get the staffs name but a not too tall guy wearing eye glasses - knowlegable and knew exactly what to recommend. I appreciated it very much.

Great local hardware store that still believes in the simple things like saying Hello. The customer service is top-notch, and always knowledgeable despite the covert project you may be trying to satisfy hardware for. If its a garden nose or a snow shovel and everything in between Westmoreland Ace hardware is the place to be.

I was quickly greeted upon entering and a staff member helped me to find the oddball little 25W light bulb that I needed for my microwave. The checkout clerk was very friendly as well. Its service like this that will bring me back in.

Every time you walk into Westmoreland Ace someone looks up and ask if you need assistance. If you say yes they always provide knowledgeable assistance and if you say no they are happy for you wander and find what you need. When asking for assistance they never make you feel like you don’t belong in a hardware store because you aren’t a construction or lawn care expert.

Friendly, helpful folks and a store full of everything you could need. SO much better than going to Home Depot, which makes me cranky. Support Local!

I tried to purchase a bbq which online said it was in stock. I drove across town so I could support a local business, took 30 min. When i got there I was told they don’t have any bbqs in stock that I wanted and the online stock numbers aren’t accurate. I would have made a big purchase here but now I’m just frustrated so I’ll go to a big box store where I can get it now. Disappointed to say the least.

This store always has the best selection on pipe fittings and the staff have repeatedly helped me solve piping puzzles I bring them.

Hardware store with snooty attitude workers. You work at Ace hardware, youre not better than anyone. Will take my business to Home Depot or elsewhere in the future.

Its been my go-to for all of Covid. Home Depot and its ilk are the last places that I would want to go right now, but this Ace has really good protocols. Theyre helpful and friendly and I just genuinely appreciate them.

What an amazing experience in the time of COVID19. I had gone to another ACE store to get a replacement lamp switch. I received NO help at that store....then I went to the Westmoreland ACE. I went into the store and when I told the employee what I needed, I was ushered to the exact spot and given advise as to exactly what I needed. I came in looking for plumbing and other misc projects and Chad and the owner were so very helpful in getting me the supplies I needed. They were both upbeat and happy to help me. I would highly reccomend this store for the cleanliness, organization and the amazing helpful employees.I would reccomend buying any of your hardware needs, bbqs, or summer air conditioning from the helpful friendly staff at Westmoreland Ace Hardware.

In an age of big box stores this neighborhood store has an incredible selection to choose from. And the staff are extremely knowledgable, friendly, and available. I stopped in just to check it out and and left with an item I never expected to find.

They have what you want but they treat you like a thief . They are constantly following you around and asking what you want or other annoying, invasive questions. They have something there that most places dont have so I have to put up with it but it never ceases to unnerve me.

Westmoreland Ace Hardware is an amazing resource for folks who have old houses in Sellwood, and as a neighborhood hardware store in general.

I always try to do my shopping at this local hardware store. They ALWAYS have someone at the front ready to assist you. You can tell they value their employees and customers based on how they are operating during COVID.

Prices can vary, some items are decently cheap, while others tend to be slightly expensive. Not terribly overpriced though overall.

This is a great little place! Its amazing how much they pack into a small space. I am usually able to find what Im looking for here and its so much better than driving across town to a big box store and wandering around forever looking for stuff. The folks who work at this store almost always greet their customers as they walk in the door, and then help them find things. They are knowledgeable and competent, which is a big time saver and again, a refreshing change from the typical big box store experience, where you have to search for someone if you have a question.

This place has only NOT had what I needed like twice In 10 years, and I knew going in it would be a stretch. They stock a lot, reasonable prices, and there’s always someone ready to help you get in and get on your way fast. Awesome neighborhood resource!

This is the one neighborhood hardware store if you live in SE Portland. And even if you dont, make the effort to frequent this ACE hardware. Their service out shines most high dollar restaurants, inaddition to being knowledgeable, patient and that good old fashion, neighborhood friendly.

Best hardware store in Portland. Ive given up on the big box hardware stores. I always find what I need along with a healthy dose of good advice whenever I go in. I think that Westmoreland Ace Hardware captures the essence of the ideal neighborhood hardware store.

I bought 2 electric heaters there last September and used them seldomly. Last month I began using them and one is defective. It makes a screeching noise and the fan turns very slowly. When I asked for an exchange, I was informed of your 30 day return policy. Cut and dry. No further discussion.I would expect that a $50 heater would last at least a year with continuous use. I’ve had them last several years. You’re a 30 day return policy on an item like this is very poor judgment. One of her customers to buy an item in the beginning of December and given as a gift on Christmas. And what if that item didn’t get used for a few weeks? The warranty is expired before you even get to use it. I would think that you would choose the items to sell in your store that are quality and will last, making it a good value. I would also hope that you would make an effort to retain your customers. I may not be a major customer but I do spend over $1000 a year in your store but that will come to an end unless you decide to do the right thing. The ball is in your court.

This is exactly the model of a neighborhood store. The staff stays pretty constant, so they get to know you if youre a regular, and since I have a fixer-upper I am pretty regular! They are always willing to help with anything you need, or are willing to let you just browse when youre not quite sure exactly what you need and just need to figure it out for yourself. I love this place. Whenever possible, I go here instead of even thinking of going to a big box place, although you cant get everything here.

An old- fashioned hardware store with anything you need, modern or just an odd washer or to get a key made. VERY knowledgeable, friendly staff will greet you and help you find stuff. Also larger stuff, like grills and lawnmowers. Save the trip to Freddies and support this long-time neighborhood business.
