While they were not able to work on my amp did to Black star being a highly proprietary manufacturer, I was given several options and after my call I was texted with information for a certified Black star dealer here in town. This shop is full of honest amp mechanics and I appreciate that they would rather send me to the right shop than take my money to do a diagnostic.
I’ve had many items serviced here by Tim and Bryan. Tim is the go-to person in the Portland area for repairing studio equipment, synths, pedals, and keyboards. Tim has services my many Juno 106s, Wurlitzer, DX7, mic pre’s, and is currently working on my Rhodes. Bryan has worked on two Fender tube amps. I am a full time music maker and I depend on this shop. Great work and people, look no further!
Tim does great work and is very thorough, my preferred shop to take my guitar pedals
Took my bass distortion pedal in recently. Tim got it back me in less a week and it sounds like its brand new.
Tim is AWESOME and so helpful and genuine. Excellent pricing and great customer service. I had my amp fixed and then a year later my synth.. which he fixed so incredibly fast due to me having to play it that weekend. Thank you so much tim! Highly recommend!!
One of the few places I trust to take my amps. Brian is reliable, knowledgeable and honest. Key boards and guitars are always treated right. Just a great shop with alot of knowledge.
Fix my pedals quickly and for a reasonable price. Does not charge a bench fee!
I had a distortion issue with my peavey amp. I was at a complete loss. So I called up and I didnt even ask for suggestions, but Brian gave me some suggestions of what to do before I brought it in! And it fixed the amp! He was super nice and extremely helpful. I will keep this place in mind the next time any gear is giving me issues!
As long as these guys stay in business, Ill never go anywhere else with my gear. Ive probably used Tims expertise a dozen times now, and whether its biasing my DIY builds, repairing my outboard gear, or designing a custom transformer box, its always done ASAP, and the price is always fair. Brian is a wizard too when it comes to tube amps.
Tim has modified and fixed many pieces of gear from me...from a LinnDrum to a custom rebuild of my Emulator II to rare outboard effects units. He knows what hes doing and he does a great job and charges fair prices.
Tim worked practical magic in bringing my Yamaha P80 keyboard back to life. Clear and honest and man it feels good to support indie businesses that support musicians.
Bryan Sours is the best tube amp tech./builder in PDX. I have been taking my 52 y.o. Silvertone 1483 to him for over 10 years for maintenance. Every time I have taken it in, he not only diagnoses and fixes the problem, if there is one, but also gives it his personal touch, fine tuning and extra attention. My amp has always sounded better than it did before I took it in, even if there wasnt a problem. Also charges a very reasonable price for the amount of time and TLC he puts into your amp.A few words regarding Tim. One of the most honest people I have ever met. He has worked on a couple of my pedals and modded one of my Vox amps. Refused to cash a check for payment that I mailed him for almost a year until he talked to me and made sure I was satisfied with his work. Any kinds of problems involving charged electron particles he will most likely have a solution for it.
Do you they do repair keyboard speakers
I have had gear repaired at other places around PDX, but Custom Custom Shop has become the only place Ive gone the last 4 years. Other than a long drive/wait at Eurotubes in Oregon City this is thee place to get a tube heads repaired. Brian and Tim dont just fix my gear when it breaks but make it sound better. If you need fast turn around, let them know. Ive had Tim fix something and give me a call back a few hours later. Recently I had a Traynor head that wanted to get overhauled and an old analog delay rack that was pretty lo-fi, wasnt really in a rush and it was worth it. The head sounds amazing and the old Ibanez delay is now in my regular setup because it sounds UNREAL. I have a pile of delays and it went from the bottom to the top of my list after Tim did his magic.
Great service from Tim
