The restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Right by the water perfect for a nice brunch date or going to dinner during water fire. The food was quite tasty as well. I had the chicken and waffles, it was more a sandwich but the bacon and cheese went really well with the sweet waffle. Aside from all these great things the downfall was the service. For being with a party of five, the food came out staggered which after waiting 40 minutes for the food was very annoying. One of our items was not even made and we had to wait additional time for our forgotten item. Waiting so long for beverages and food spoiled the potentially wonderful experience we could of had.

The good: food was amazing!The bad: staff was kind of rude, but honestly they were probably short staffed…I also didn’t get what I ordered, lots of miscommunication happening.. hostess also wasn’t pleasant.

In town for a wedding and really wanted a tasty brunch with great ambiance. I got the latterbut definitely not the former. Great location along the river with gorgeous views but the positives stop there. The food and service left much to be desired. The food was ho-hum. Not great but by no means bad. The service was incredibly slow, barely checked in on us, and frankly was bad. After placing our orders, our server disappeared for half an hour. Eventually we asked some one for refills. And then we asked again. And again. And again. Would not recommended.

The place is small, quaint and has a great location. The fault is that the food and drinks are terrible. We ordered the crab cakes and it tasted more like a chick pea fritter. They mixed the crab with ground chickpea and it was more chick pea than crab. If I didn’t know what I ordered, I would have thought I was eating some type of falafel.The water fire menu is limited and average, it needs to be improved.

Lack luster food and okay drinks. I ordered the meat lovers Shakshuka and wonder wheres the meat? I found a few pieces of chopped Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage but no pork belly, ham, bacon or anything else that resembled meat. The bloody mary was status quo, the atmosphere was bland.

The service received from Jenna at the River Social brunch was simply magnificent. Me and my friends got there at 2 not realizing service ended at 2:30 however Jenna made sure we could still order and offered her wealth of knowledge of the menu to help expedite our choices. Every single one of us was thoroughly pleased with the recommendation of food choices that we are excited to explore the other dishes our waitresses Jenna recommended. Her attentiveness to our table, knowledge of the food and drink menu, and joyful smile as she waited tables well pass closing makes the River social and there staff a bright spot in Rhode Island food scene!! Highly recommended

Great device great food great drinks

Food was amazing!My only issue is the host. We stated we would like a seat in the shade since it was about 80 degrees outside. There werent any available outside so we went in instead. Not only did she seat us right next to the bathroom, but it was the only seat where the sun was beaming right on us.The food is what saved this review.

My family and I decided to go out for a birthday brunch (it was a total of 5 people). The service was alright, the waitress was amazing. Although we were a little disappointed the food was brought out separately/Staggered. The food was brought out 5-10 minutes apart for each person. A plate was also forgotten. We also noticed several people came after us and got their food before us. We waited a total of 50 minutes for everyone’s food to arrive and another 15 minutes for the plate that was forgotten. The food was also cold. We were highly disappointed since we heard several good things about this place. Never coming again!!! :(

Very cute, its a little small if youre worried about 6ft distance. Each table has hand sanitizer. We came here for brunch and got chicken and waffles and some eggs & potatoes. All of it was very good - especially the potatoes. Good cocktails as well.

If youre looking for an intimate and beautiful location with absolutely delicious food for an event, this is the place! My husband and I just had our wedding reception at The River Social, and we cannot recommend it enough. From the beginning, Alessia was responsive and helpful in determining our plans during this pandemic. Our guests loved the drinks, food, and service. They could not stop talking about the impeccable service! We cant wait to come back for brunch and dinner. Thank you all again for a wonderful day.

Friendly, cozy place with a great view of the river. We went for Saturday brunch and the fare was standard (shakshukas, bennys, waffles) but really very well made!

Service was good, eggs poached to perfection. Crab cake Benedict not worth the money however doesn’t come with an English muffin. Strange advertisement on the table for real estate agent. Someone behind us on staff dropped a glass that shattered behind our table and shards of glass went into our shoes. That was unacceptable and being in food and beverage myself we would have normally comped for an accident like that. Overall feels like someone who doesn’t understand F&B decided to open a resturant therefore would not recommend

Following a confirmation email and text the day prior and phone call confirmation about 2.5 hours before our 6:30p outdoor reservation that was made two months earlier, the owner canceled the reservation unless we would pay $499 to dine on the patio. There was no mention of this ridiculous, astronomical fee throughout any part of making the reservation or confirmations. The owner is tactless.

Ordered the Egg Benedict with tater tots & Shakshuka Mediterranean. Both were very well prepared and tasted delicious

Service was slow, parking was expensive and I found the food to be tasteless. The eggs denedict sat a soggy English muffin. Would not recommend.

Great location for waterfire. Didnt dine tho, just had drinks and they were fab!

Appetizers took 30 minutes, although they did taste quite good. I mentioned the wait to one of the servers, who then stared at me for like 2 minutes silent. Ordered the paella, unfortunately the rice was not cooked all the way through, but considering I waited an hour for it, I ate all of it.

Mezze plate and cocktails were great. Food, service, and atmosphere was underwhelming to me, given the price point and location.

I went there Friday night with my daughter, my son, and my son’s girlfriend. The food was amazing and the service was great. We had the mini naans as an appetizer. Choosing a cocktail was difficult because there were so many that sounded amazing. I had the Berries and Bubbles and it was great! My son and his girlfriend each had the lamb. My daughter had the caprese chicken and I had the smoked steak. Every one of our meals was perfectly cooked and delicious. I will definitely be coming back.

Place has a nice view but thats just about it Food is mediocre nothing special you pay for the view and have to pay $200 in order to get the view And have to pay for food that doesnt even taste that good Pretty disappointed that you can only select from a few items on the menu when youre outside

I give the service a solid 1 star but the food was 3 stars. Meals came out at different times very unattentive service. My meal was good but my wifes chicken caprese was definitely overcooked. We had outdoor seating reserved but was seated inside as well. Much better places to eat at locally. Cool location which helps bump to 2 stars.

Absolutely beautiful location inside and out! We loved the food too! Great service with an awesome view and amazing food. Theres valet parking at the restaurant upstairs and theres also parking nearby in lots and on the street. Go down the stairs from the valet circle to the left of the upstairs restaurant, Jackys, and turn right on the river walk. You cant miss it!

We had a reservation for 4 people and ended up having one more person with us. When we showed up they refused to accommodate us and were very rude telling us we couldn’t stay because we had one extra person. I’ve never experienced such a lack of hospitality and kindness. They were incredibly rude and petty to not accommodate one single other person. We were trying to support a small business but apparently they’re making too much money for their overcharged brunch. Glad we ended up at Barnaby’s instead who were amazing and accommodating.

Beautiful place to sit and enjoy the view of the river, especially on a nice day. We ordered a couple of drinks. The service was quick and the one cocktail was served beautifully. Had we been able to, the menu offered a great selection; however, we didnt have time to taste test. The area was quiet which allowed for a moment of relaxation.

Not very welcoming. We walked through the entrance and the women behind the bar just stared at us until we had to introduce ourselves. The waitress seemed annoyed that we were there. We were seated at the table after an awkward silence with a half-attempted point in the general direction of the table. It was very apparent that we were not welcome even though the restaurant was dead. The food was alright, but not worth the price. Never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Hopefully they can work on training their staff better.

This is not a review on their food, unfortunately I did not eat there. We were looking forward to a nice Brunch outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. The website says open till 10pm and serving Brunch until 3pm. We arrived at 1:54pm on Saturday and we were told the kitchen was closed but we were welcomed to sit outside and drink for 2 hours until the kitchen opens again.. Good luck to them in this uncertain times. Updating the website is a must, don’t waste peoples time.

What a wonderful surprise! I wasnt feeling confident when I looked at the menu but I was so wrong! From start to finish our mouths were watering. The food was savory and prepared perfectly. The location is beautiful too because its right beside the Exchange St Siene River. Service was excellent too. I highly recommend this eatery.

Very rude and unaccommodating, showed up with one extra person in our party and had to verbally ask the host what the issue was. I was informed a chair could not be added to our party due to fire hazard and they made absolutely no effort to explain this to my party... we had to awkwardly wait on the bartender to explain the arbitrary “fire hazard”. Most restaurants will let you know that they can accommodate your party once a table opens, or will even offer suggestions as to how they can take your business. Obviously there is a severe lack of customer service, management, and overall lack of respect for clientele... If you’d like to be valued and appreciated, kindly take your business elsewhere because its clearly not appreciated. Hopefully this restaurant will stop hiding behind excuses and listen to the numerous reviews of negative experiences that have been reciprocated by numerous other guests.P.S. please take the time to edit your grammar when responding to reviews, it comes across as un-professional...Again, they obviously couldn’t care less about communication and hospitality.

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dinner ( especially Saj ), beautiful presentation, wide wine list and wonderful dessert.I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

Had a great experience here, Martinis were on point, food was exotic and delicious and the service was pleasant. Not a full restaurant, more of a nice bar but it wasnt too busy and we had a great time. Highly recommended.

River Social has wonderful lunch and dinner. But today we were here for brunch and it wasnt on par with their dinner offering. So definitely go, enjoy the outdoor seating, the friendly staff and creative drinks. Their pork belly mini naan and their falafel are to die for! So certainly try all their menus. It could have just been an off day for brunch.

Fantastic food. It really is great food, the chef knows what shes doing. The hummus is the best I have ever had and the lamb is to die for. However, the front of the house is a train wreck. Some of the worst service Ive seen in Providence. They seriously need to invest in training their staff. Also, they need better drink recipes, so stick to neat drinks or wine.

2/12/2021 visit: Food was great, but the host (brown haired male) and hostess (blonde female) may have been stressed and having a bad night, but after reading these other reviews, it seems this is just a common occurrence with staff. They were very unwelcoming. It’s unfortunate because the man from the kitchen brining out the food was so nice. I will not be coming back and I would not recommend this place to friends simply due to the two staff members in the front.

Food was incredible in flavor. We got the garlic wings, chicken entree and steak entree, as well as the cheesecake dessert. It has been a long time since Ive had such a high quality meal.

I thoroughly enjoyed one of their salad dishes add chicken, and the falafel. Ive had a lot of falafel, and even more chicken. Only complaint, add more fresh garlic, but thats my personal taste.

Good and drink were very good

We are glad to have tried this place. The food was absolutely delicious and everything we ordered tasted nice and fresh. My personal favorite was the Salmon and their Mediterranean trio dip. I also highly recommend the Octopus, it was tender and I was pleasantly surprised by its taste and by how fresh it was. It is a beautiful place with wonderful service and welcoming atmosphere.

My wife and I adored this place when it first opened. Since then, every time we go the experience gets a little bit worse.Today will be our last time here. The barmaid sucked the atmosphere out of the room. She almost seemed annoyed that we were there. Never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Couple that with our food being dropped off at the wrong table (there were 3 tables with people on, not even busy) and very substandard food, it made for a very depressing experience.

Amazing date night for our Anniversary. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was totally delicious, the service was better than great. More than worth the drive from Massachusetts.

Went there during a Waterfire lighting. Menu and food are great, and location was wonderful. Price is surprisingly reasonable for a nice restaurant in a great location in Providence. Front of the House staff was very friendly, notwithstanding that the restaurant is hopelessly understaffed. We waited almost an hour for a table, and there were empty tables that just needed to be turned over.. for a while. The food took a very long time. We took an Uber, so we would have been fine waiting and enjoying couple of cocktails, but the second round we ordered never arrived.

This restaurants atmosphere and food was amazing! I ordered the faroe island salmon, it was very tender and soo delicious. The portion was great. The taste of the traditional Atlantic salmon was much better than i have tried before.My wife ordered the Lamb chops, they were very tender and local baby lamb is much better than any new Zealand or Australian. I was surprised there was no fat on the meet.The service was fast and very friendly.I will defiantly come back again, next time to try Brunch!

I highly recommend the forbidden rice arancini.

My wife and I attended the soft opening and as expected there were some hits and misses. The mushroom ragout with polenta entree was outstanding and is enough for two to share and worth a visit in itself. The mezzes need some work. The lamb with labneh was a clear winner with tender, succulent mini-lamb chops on the bone; but the green tahini sauce was more like paste and needs to go, the eggplant needs to be perked up with some tangy red sauce, and the taramasalata was runny, not creamy, and lacked any semblance of fish roe. The knead doughnut is in knead of minor adjustment with a smaller, tastier doughnut and a much larger scoop of the wonderful black raspberry sorbet with a bit more chocolate and coconut to be a dessert winner. And finally, the sangria was the best weve ever had. We definitely plan to return.
