Small business, anything you could ever need from bait to handbags. you pay for the small business in items that are more expensive than big box stores. Just like a big box: helpful people, carries things out to my truck. HIgh end or low end choice. Kortendick also has the same service except everything is higher in price. I can get what I need and feel good about buying from a small business.
My dad and I have always gone to this store, its nice to have it so close when we need something asap! Like when our coffee maker died!!! I bought paint there last year for my sons bedroom. They have a large variety of items!!
Used to go here until I just got fed up with the cold shoulder they give their customers. 3 days ago one of their employees almost caused me to have an accident then mysteriously no one knew who was driving the truck. Hardware Hank has a new reward member now. Douglas Hardware has a much more pleasant team working there and now has a new customer too!
Great place to shop for so many things. They have a great selection of Christmas items. Staff is friendly.
Mediocre selection of plumbing and electrical parts and the lumber yard is sad. They do have a full selection of self-serve fasteners which is awesome. The boutique section of the store has grown over the last ten years to almost half the store(Artsy housewares and gift ideas) I wish it were just a hardware store.
Good hardware store. Has most anything youll need. Happy 70th birthday
Great service here. The employees are friendly and they have a great selection. Good prices.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Kortendicks Ace Hardware has been around in Racine at the same spot since I can remember....and Im 36. They have a goos selection for the size of the store. Of course Home Depot and Menards have far more in the way of selection and inventory, but Ace has them beat on employee knowledge and customer service. Its always nice to spend locally as well in lieu of feeding the corporate monster.
The ladies on the registers, esp Emma, were outstanding. However, the guy who kept following me in case I was shoplifting was rather annoying. I get it, we are camping nearby and I look scruffy. However, pretending to be facing stock asking is there something I can help you find being told I was fine, then watching me for several isles worth of shopping is just pee poor loss prevention and customer service. Try asking me about the obvious. You camping up at Cliffside? and see how I respond? Or, for other situations, ask a question about what the stuff they are picking up at the store tells ya. Thats a lot of copper fittings, are remodeling or dealing with a burst pipe? How can I help? etc etc. You will look like a caring customer service person, and if I was a thief, I probably would not be comfortable stealing after because: 1. We spent time chatting and you got a good look at me 2. Most shoplifters dont think of backstory, so your helpful and friendly inquiries will make me uncomfortable.
They always have what I need. They sell honey made from hives on roof, that means local honey!
All employees are very nice and very helpful. I asked where something was and they instantly knew where it was and showed me where it was. Lots of nice tools, lawn care, house care, car care and part. The one thing that isnt my favorite is that something are overpriced. I bought a handheld vacuum for 70 and it was 50 on Amazon and other stores.
Havent steered me wrong yet! Good selection and service!
Found everything I was looking for. That was good.
Small to begin with for a hardware store. Theres a whole large part of the store filled with nick nacks and stuff. Limits greatly the ability to come to a hardware store for hardware. There is a much better store a few miles south.
Better selection than most Ace Hardware Stores, and really good prices too.
Kortendick/Ace Hardware is one of those great, older hardware stores (along with Lees True Value) that employs knowledgeable staff that can assist you with most any project youre working on. Beats those Big box stores by leaps and bounds!
So about a month ago I had brought a grill from here and the second day we had used it. It wouldnt ever light. We called and they sent out Doug who fixed it and left however it has now been weeks since then and we went to use it last night and it wouldnt light. I tried to light it today with a candle lighter and still nothing. When we called and ask about it this is what Doug had told us.That he refuses to come back out and look at it since he was out here once before and that since we dont have a way to bring it them it was not his problem. This is an absolutely rude response from a person whose job is to provide good customer service to some one and rude of the store itself to not even back the products they sell at all,I wasted $800 on a grill.I hope Webber pulls their contract.
Love my store! All the people that work here are great
I love to hate this store. It is convenient, fairly well stocked, but way over priced. Still Im glad its there.
Absolutely the best hardware store around. Maybe a few nickels more but its all about service. From the owners to the paint department, these guys are great..
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Store was clean and organized and stocked.
I dont know how long they have been utilizing their curb side service but i find this addition to be very helpful and convenient to the point of looking here first before looking at the big box retail stores. I have always valued this store especially for its personal service and I will continue to do so. Great store and business.
I dont come here to often, it has everything I need for what Im working on.
Kortendick is my go to hardware store and I live on the north side of town. The staff is always helpful and the prices are reasonable.
Friendly help and the people designated to work in each section actually know where the things are and can give you advice for your project . A+
I relocated to Caledonia in 2017 and really didnt stop here often since I lived in a apartment until March of 2020 when I bought a home near 3 Mile Road. Now, this truly is my go-to place for various household items. They have not let me down for the various projects I have tackled over the months. The other real bonus is the knowledgeable staff for your task.
This is my go to place to buy pretty much anything other than groceries or gas. They have everything and the staff is super friendly. You can walk in with any weird thing and a quizzical look on your face and they will make it work.
Associates are always very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a great Racine family, owned business.
The people there are always happy to help. Their prices seem reasonable and have a good assortment of hardware and garden supplies.
Awesome place.... Check out their beautifully priced flowers
Classic Ace hardware. Helpful, close to home, and ok prices.
Great local hardware store. You can pretty much find everything you need here...even a great fishing selection whether for inland or Lake Michigan
I love Kortendick Ace Hardware The staff is so friendly and helpful with any question you have. They always seem to have just what you need or tell you where you might find it. Many times I stop just to wander through the aisles.
Theyre not as cheap as the big box stores. But I know I can always find what I need, and more importantly, talk to people to get guidance when I need it. I can buy a screw from anywhere, but at least at Ace, I can ask to make sure Im doing things right. I hope to God this store is always there for me.
I went to look at there milwaukee tools and found quite a few options, I bought a couple at a reasonable price, floor person was very helpful
As always very well greeted, helpful and pleasant.
Always able to find what you need plus support local.
Kornedick Ace saves me a lot of time. When Im doing a project and I need to run out for something. Its close and fast in and out. I dont think Ive ever not found what I need for basic home repair stuff.
I like Kortendicks hardware on the North side and Lees True Value on the South side of town. Yes somethings are more expensive then the Big Chain stores. But to get the professional service you need. When you have a problem. you go in explain. Either what your trying to do or what your doing and they know what your talking about. and can help you. I s always worth the little bit extra that it might cost you.
Very knowledgeable and very helpful. Not to mention friendly
Very friendly staff that are willing to go the extra mile to find the items you are looking for.
Great neighborhood hardware store!
Local friendly hardware store. Prices are a bit higher then big box stores but the convenience of the short trip sometimes outweighs the cost.
So convenient and great service!
Very polite and fast customer service
This place is great!
Shelly in paints was a big help. In all it was a good visit
Always easy to find what I want and great prices.
Rather be served at the douglas hardware store down the road. Poor service and one of the employees wasnt practicing covid protocols
The best place to go if you need help to do projects around the house
Had what I needed and the employees seemed knowledgeable.
Love shopping with local people. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable.
Just about everything you need.
Great service. Daniel went above and beyond to help me with my license plate and rusty screws!
The perfect neighborhood hardware store that has every oddity. It sriously will have it if u need it. So close to my house.
Knowledgeable helpful staff goid sekrtion
Pretty good hardware store, the service staff arent seeking customers to help or potentially a sale. (Ive only shopped there at night.)Retraining and a fire, probably would help.
Aces staff are knowledgeable and personable. We like to buy personally, even find adorable toys and other things among our hardware and lawn/garden needs.
Love the quality of items and how helpful staff is
Always like to shop here friendly staff very helpful
Fast and good service
Awesome store. Great section for women!
I’ve spent thousands of dollars in this store as I like to support local businesses. I have a medical condition that prevents me from wearing a mask & they refused to let me shop when I was the only one in the store at 8 AM without buying a mask from them. I explained I had a medical condition & they said I needed a note from my Dr., apparently they do not understand HIPA laws!I will never set foot in this store again!I suggest shopping at Douglas Hardware a much friendlier and more knowledgeable staff.
Love going to an actual hardware store with knowledgeable and helpful staff!
I usually go inside of dollar general or family dollar but came into here after every store I visited had NO TACKS staff was very friendly and helped out right away! I’ll definitely visit more also looked around and was surprised didn’t know they carried so much stuff I love to refurbish and their prices are really reasonable! I also dropped my work badge inside and they called my job to locate me and return it which was very awesome considering a replacement is 100$ their whole customer service is great!
Never lets me down.
Great hardware store and very helpful people in the store.
Very disappointed. I went to the store today, very happy because they sent me a happy birthday card of $10.00 off. That make me feel special and after all is happening I was very happy to get out. At checkout I give my gift card and you guys rejected. My birth day was on May 15 and the card expired on May 31 and you did not accepted. What a shamed, I was not able to get out of my house with everything that is going on and you guys did not bend your rules for loyal customers. Very disappointed.
Not very friendly checkout lady but outside of that everything was good I found what I needed and thats all I got to say
I can almost always get the hardware or whatever it is that I need there. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Beats the big box stores.
I found alot more than I expected and the service was good!
Great neighborhood place, great customer service always helpful and friendly. Prices are a little higher which is the only reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars
This use to be a great store, now it is staffed with employees that are not directionally aligned. I waited at the hardware desk for a repair tech to help with a chain request, after about 20 min I was told by another employee that the repair tech wouldn’t be able to help. This was a total waste of time, and frustrating. Customer service brings customers back, I can buy stuff at other retailers.
Stuff is a little more pricey, but this is a clean cut store they have lots of stuff nuts bolts washer that other hardware stores dont have and everything is stocked up always
They have everything! Prices very compatible.
Such a pleasure to go to and everybody is so nice and willing to help when needed!
Nice people.
I am so so pleased with their flowering baskets. I was there on a fluke and could not believe how gorgeous their hanging baskets were. The staff was very helpful and I actually had to have someone help me with my two baskets as they were so heavy with flowers. You are an hour away but worth the trip. If I had not needed to go to an appountment I would have hung out there to see what else this store had.
They have what I need 90% of the time... If your looking for bulk or a variety of building supplies this wouldnt be my 1st stop. But if you need a couple sheets of plywood or need some hardware, paint, cleaning supplies, stil products this is the place to go. And its way closer then any other big box stores for me. Its the convenience store for your home so expect prices to be a little higher but youll make it up in gas savings.. lol😁
Everything you need under one roof
Frank is awesome in helping out with anything in yard tools and equipment always will keep my business here because of the excellent service
I purchased a Toro lawnmower and a Weber gas grill earlier this month. I did the entire transaction online. I paid extra to have each item assembled. I paid a little for my items, but I wanted to support local business.I picked the items up and took them home. The next day after I unloaded my truck, I realize there is no owners manual for my $379.00 grill. I emailed Kortendicks twice, requesting the owners manual. I have yet to receive a reply. I am truly disappointed in their lack of customer service. Ill continue to support local business but Kortendicks never again.
More problems here. A little high priced but dont have to deal with walking 10 miles through a parking lot and to the back of the store for one item. In....out....done.
Well run store, friendly knowledgeable employees. I wish they were a little bigger so they could carry more items but if they dont have it they always tell me the closest place to get it.
We have been shopping at this store for 20 years. It is always staffed with knowledgeable people who are more than willing to help. I have never had to seek out an employee to answer questions as they come up and offer help. Plus, it is convenient, if I am mid project and I discover I forgot something I dont have a long, traffic ridden drive.
Had a key made and works great
Wonderful inventory that is top quality. did you know that brian k. is a bee keeper? buy his fresh honey here. then head south to the park in. my choice for best cheeseburger in town.
I called the store to inquire about an odd size metric (14mm extra fine thread) fastener and was told by someone in the hardware department they do carry this size. So, I rode my bike all the way from the south side to get what I needed. When I couldnt find anything in this size I asked an associate for help; he, in turn, said no but wanted to ask the store manager to confirm. The store managers response: Just look at the front of the containers. Thanks for wasting my time and for such a big chain level of customer service, Kortendicks!
Love this store, the small town feel is what we like in a hardware store, we always go here first!
My cousins went in there today looking for paint remover. The associate told them that she wouldnt use any of the products and they should try peanut butter. So here they come back with 2 big jars of peanut butter. Ha! What a joke. Next 3 hours wasted watching these young men slathering peanut butter all over the floor and wiping. Didnt work. That trick is for adhesives! Next time just do your job!!
One of the worst customer service experiences of my life. The old stocky man with white hair and glasses is probably the rudest associate Ive ever dealt with. Obviously doesnt want to work or had to go back to work and it shows. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.
Not very helpful but I managed to find what I needed. Some of them didnt know where to find what I needed.
Was just looking for some fishing gear
Always great when we go there. Helpful and lots of options for stuff.
Disappointed with the customer service I received today. One of the cashiers blatantly ignored me after I politely asked for assistance a few times. She continued conversing with another employee as though I was not even there! And to make matters worse (when she finally decided to acknowledge me) she rudely proceeded to ask me to stand in line and wait for my turn.....EXCEPT THERE WERE NO OTHER CUSTOMERS WAITING BESIDES MYSELF. As a business owner myself I deem this kind of behavior completely unacceptable and should not, under any circumstances, be tolerated.
They have anything you need
I was able to find the bolts I needed easily. Everything was identified clearly. Nice, helpful clerk when I had to make a return
Good morning. Earlier this week I received a sales paper advertising a 4 pack of tomato plants for a dollar so I decided I would devote my time and money here for Memorial day weekend. Glad I got there early because the advertising said the store opened at 8 unfortunately it didnt open until 9. Anyways I patiently waited in line because I am a veteran so Im used to waiting in lines. Anyways when they opened the door we were the first ones in but they actually opened up the back gate also so whoever wasnt waiting in line had a straight shot into the flowers and plants area. And of course the inconsiderate people took advantage of this. You would think whoever was in charge would notice that this problem was brewing and would have stepped up and took charge but nope. So when I ask one of the employees where the tomatoe plants were she said that they didnt get the shipment but I can get flowers instead. Sorry but I wanted tomatoe plants. Anyways I ended up buying 2 tomatoe plants that werent part of the sale. Luckily they had the Memorial day red white and blue hanging plants tucked away in the back because the l2 ladies who I saw with 6 hanging plants in their basket said if there were any more that they were going to buy them all. Way to go inconsiderate people. So I proceeded to the checkout to pay for what items I was able to find and I wasnt greeted and it the bad attitude was evident. Now this isnt the first time Ive encountered rude employees at the checkout. Now I go out of my way to be very courteous and MINDFUL of my attitude especially when there are crowds and people acting like idiots so that makes me very aware of when I dont receive courteous back. So I paid for my items and thought I was going to receive the free flags that they were handing out to the first 240 customers. Since I was fourth in line and a Veteran Iand wearing my Veterans hat I thought for sure I was going to receive one just like the people who checked out in front of me. I didnt receive it nor did I get a Thank you for shopping with us or a Sorry for the inconvenience. What a slap in the face. So being the person that I am and not wanting to cause a ruckus tand mindful of the fact that there was a long line behind me I decided to wait until I got home to call a manager. I called and spoke with a manager and to make a long story short after practically having to coerce an apology out of him he said he would mail me a flag. I would hope that this experience would maybe invoke some type of training for the employees that work here because the ones I encountered today definitely need some on how to treat customers. Mindfulness people. Treat others how you expect to be treated. Have a good day. Peace
Nice service very helpful
Very helpful. Like the hometown feeling and great local honey!
