Cashiers need a bit of Customer service training, didnt smile, say hi, have a nice day, or anything, just what I owed.. THATS ALL that what said to me period. Used to love rural king. Now I just like it because of the things that are sold and popcorn lol. I prefer Ace hardware down the road just for WAY better customer service & depending on what I am shopping for. Yes, I will continue to shop here due to convenience and the items they sell.

Went to get archery deer permits. The man working the gun counter new what he was doing and was very friendly. My baby spit up on the counter top and he was completely understand and made me feel less embarrassed about the situation.

Always enjoy going here! They almost always have what im looking for and always staff around to ask for help if you need it! And of coarse its worth the trip just to pay a visit to the baby chickens and baby ducks! Their adorable and i always wamna leave with all of them 😝

5 employees near the entrance talking. No one, i mean no one on the floor assisting customers. I pulled a heavy metal shelf off the racks by myself. The display said 39.99. The shelf said 54.99. It rang at the register for 66.99. The young man i pulled from the front to help me said he didnt know the price. The display tag was from last year AND he said they dont know when prices are changed. Really!!! To me, this response means he didnt want to be bothered. So i wont go back. I will drive to champaign and go to menards, lowes or homepot.

My husband and I come into this location at LEAST once a week for over 2 years. The cashiers and floor employees have been wonderful until recently (probably because they are miserable with the new store manager). The new store Manager Art has NO business being a leader. Im not sure if he is overwhelmed or what his issue is. He has been nothing but rude to employees when we have been in the store. Called my husband on an issue today that we were told a DISTRICT MANAGER would be dealing with and was rude AGAIN and led my husband to hang up on him. Both of us being in customer service ourselves we never get to this point. We are completely unhappy and the only two genuine employees there this week that care jave been Sam (the front end supervisor) and Ken.

Service at the register is usually pretty good. We love the vast selection of hardware and pet supplies. Parking is good, prices are good and we appreciate the employees cleaning carts continuously and implementing the cart requirement during the pandemic (for social distancing). It shows the company cares about customers. One area this store needs to greatly improve on (although I have seen it at the Champaign location as well) is the grocery section. It is not very well organized, and many many times there are plenty of expired items on the shelf (very often in the chips/crackers/cookies section), and this is pretty gross. Management needs to make sure floor staff are checking consumable items for expiration dates. There is no excuse for this, it needs to be done periodically as other competitors do.

Way better than most farm stores in the area, and they support the 2nd amendment.

Picked up chicken feed here. The store is packed with all kinds of farm and home stuff. And the staff were very helpful in answering questions. Im going back in another week to get a couple of chestnut trees. I dont know any other place around that carries them. And they have free coffee and free popcorn (in a popcorn maker) right by the door. Who does that? Love.

Rural King is definitely for the farmer and outdoorsman. It is not fancy and its got tall ceilings and it echoes. The selection of items though is awesome from clothing to gardening to animal care,food, guns and electric. I am sure I am missing something. My husband seems to find things here we cant find anywhere else. Employees are helpful and appear knowledgeable about their inventory.

I ordered a trampoline for my kids for Easter and received a call saying my order was ready for pick up so because rantoul was the only rural king with this item my husband who works in CHAMPAIGN drove all the way there out of his way to get our order. When he arrived they informed him that they miscounted they don’t have the trampoline! So today I called to talk about what they would do to compensate us for the incident! I spoke with Matt who is the manager and he was so rude! He told me in fact they did have the trampoline I wanted and they would hold it for me but we would have to make the trip yet again with no discount or anything for the drive and money we spent on gas! When I said I thought that they would want to make the customer happy he proceeded to rudely giggle and say well I thought that just getting the trampoline would make you happy but I guess not! Coming from a family who owns a business this would never be okay for anyone to treat a customer! Rural king needs to do something about how a manager treats their customers it was a bad look on them!

When in the area, we always stop by this Rural King. It is rather large inside. They carry work boots, clothing, tools, kids items, food, pet items, etc. They usually have a great selection of toys for Christmas as well. Plenty of big truck parking. Just be careful pulling in!

Purchased a new item and had it shipped. It was damaged upon arrival. They only offered to give me a credit off my next purchase. The credit is about half what the damage will cost to repair.UPDATEI had posted a one star review. Someone reached out to me today with a reasonable solution. If it all works out, Ill keep adding stars.
