Finding a great stylist/colorist is like finding a great therapist. You go through so many and then like magic Melinda appears! She is OUTSTANDING. Professional, considerate, kind, and a total blast to hang around..plus her color skills are otherworldly. I found Mel and Origin a few years back for a color correction. And a blow out styling. They were the easiest place to book online. Since then I have been rose gold, purple, hot pink, and a mixture of all. She always delivers and guides me to make bold choices that feel like the most awesome version of me. Honestly we have fun together. This past blonde hair color adventure she totally outdid herself. Love this place! Clean, trendy, and they dont try to upsell which is so refreshing. This isnt your neighborhood supercuts so make sure youre ready to make an investment in your hair before booking. Itll be worth it!

I called origin salon to book root touch up service and they forced me to provide the credit card information. One asking how they will protect my information, owner denied me service . I have always been giving credit card and expiration date but have never been pushed to give CVV details .

Best salon on the east side. The stylists demonstrate superior expertise and professionalism. The staff overall are sweet, friendly and attentive. Im particularly impressed with their attention to safety amid the pandemic: Ive never been to a business that takes customer and employee safety more seriously than this place. They adhere to up to date state mandates, require preventive measures, and maintain strict safety protocols throughout the entire visit. I felt very safe and comfortable! Selwa can do it all, and is honest about how long the appointment will be, can explain the scientific reasons for her methods, and is warm, thoughtful and keeps your preferences at the forefront. Id never go elsewhere.

I went in for a haircut and scalp/hair treatment, and it was a really great experience. Ana and Hailey were both wonderful - friendly, professional and gave great advice on how to take better care of my hair. I felt like they really cared how my hair turned out and took good care of me during the time I was at the salon. With everything carefully scheduled and space out, temperature taken at the door and the place kept very clean, I felt safe and comfortable. Also, the Aveda products smell AMAZING. Definitely recommend this place!

UPDATE: Two months after my initial service, Yasmeen contacted me to let me know shed seen my review, ask about the situation and try to rectify it. She refunded me the overcharge for my add-on treatment and let me know that the member of their staff who responded to my initial email has been out of the salon due to a medical procedure. Im not sure whether or not any other team members saw the follow up emails I sent, but I know that this is an especially difficult time for businesses and I think everyone deserves a little grace. I appreciate their teams efforts to correct a mistake (even an old one) and have subsequently updated my review to four stars rather than three.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I chose this salon based on the reviews that I read, so I wanted to provide one of my own.The good:My original appointment was scheduled with another stylist, but because of issues with extreme weather and childcare it was rescheduled with David. This was totally understandable and I appreciate that they let me know about the need to reschedule as soon as possible, and even fit me in the same day. I thought it showed professionalism on their part.David did a great job on my hair! I went in for a cut and an add-on scalp treatment. He was very knowledgeable and thorough, and while he cut he provided me with a lot of education about the best ways to take care of my hair. His work was very well done, and the scalp treatment removed all of the product and oil buildup I was trying to get rid of. The three stars are for David, because he did a fantastic job.Bonus: I now use Davids tips for haircare and specifically washing my hair, and I feel like that combined with some products he recommended actually have made a difference. Just over the last two weeks, my hair feels cleaner and the ends definitely feel healthier (Im sure part of that is the recent cut, but I do believe his advice has made a difference).The things I didnt love:My appointment started late and went on so long that someone else had to finish part of it (I think it was about three hours for a scalp treatment, cut, and blow-dry, which I did not expect). It was a little stressful when I had a baby at home waiting for me (so if you have other commitments, plan carefully). However, I think they did the best they could and I didnt take any stars off for that.The reason I deducted two stars from my review is because of the salons response (or lack thereof) to a problem that I had. When you book an appointment online, they give you a quote for the cost of the service. As it turned out, David charges more for a haircut than the original stylist I chose, but that was fine with me because he did a great job. However, in addition to the $20 more for having my cut done with David, I was charged $75 for an add-on scalp treatment that I was told would cost $30. That isnt the end of the world, but I would have thought twice about getting it done if Id known it would be $45 more expensive than I was told. In fact, when I went to pay at the end of my service, I was told a lower total (and given a receipt with that lower total) than what my credit card was charged.The final straw for me was that I emailed them to inquire about the difference and see if there was some reason for it (one of the receptionists told me that their system had been having problems that day so I thought maybe it was an error), and I got an email back a few days later letting me know they would look into it, and then no additional response for two weeks. I have since followed up twice, still with no response.All in all, Id say that David did a great job and Im very happy with my hair. However, it was a very long appointment that ended in my being charged significantly more than I was told and not a very helpful response when I asked for help/clarification. It wasnt exactly the experience I was hoping for the first time Id left the house to do something for myself through a pandemic and having a baby. Unfortunately, I dont think Ill be back (which is sad because David is really great).

I got my hair cut with Ana last weekend and it was a WONDERFUL experience. The staff has taken great measures to keep themselves and clients safe during the pandemic and I felt very comfortable. This was my first time getting my hair cut with Ana and she did an incredible job. I think it’s my favorite hair cut ever. I wasn’t totally sure what I wanted done, and she took the time to talk through options and recommendations with me. I will definitely be returning.

Ana fixed my quarantine hair! She seamlessly blended my roots into my hair, and gave me a fabulous haircut. The salon is taking precautions, masks and temp checks required... which made me feel safe in these uncertain times. I Highly recommend This Salon!

Place was fantastic. The building itself was really nice, and felt both relaxed and professional. Staff immediately welcomed me and offered refreshments while I waited (I arrived like 10 minutes early).Yasmeen was my stylist, and she was fantastic. I did a complete side-shave of my head, something I had never gotten done before, and she was fantastic in helping me decide what would look best. Im very happy in my service and the results.

For Men: I am a former Army Ranger and have always had my hair done by a barber. That is no longer the case. Yasmeen does a great job at making my hair fit my head. I know it sounds weird, but she is an absolute expert at adapting your hair for you. I rarely post reviews but I had such a great experience, I want to! The staff are fantastic. I had an uneven haircut and came to get it fixed; they did a wonderful job. They work together really well - 2 other stylists gave opinions and helped with my hair when it was being fixed.The stylist I had was Alysha and she was so sweet! Easy to talk to and really listened to what I wanted - also didn’t rush the haircut and made sure everything was fixed and that it looked good. The other stylists were really nice too, and they have great customer service.Also, the prices vary depending on stylist but overall are very reasonable.Highly recommend!

I went into the salon and paid $77 for a dry cut that wasnt even in the style Id asked for. (I didnt realize how off my cut was until I got home, cleaned & styled it.)As my hair cut appointment was finishing up, I inquired about balayge because I had a little grey I wanted covered. I dont like a lot of product in my hair and the process sounded gentler. Due to scheduling conflicts on both sides, I did feel a bit rushed into an appointment the next day to get my hair colored.As I did my research that night, I realized I didnt want my hair colored in the balayge style as it doesnt cover the roots - the area I was trying to cover up in the first place.I called the salon when they first opened and told them I didnt want the full color, all I wanted to do was cover up my grey. In return, absolutely no other coloring options were offered as an alternative to the balayge, instead I was charged a cancellation fee.As the day went on after my haircut, there were also some things that made me start to feel nervous about going back to the same stylist the next day.Regarding the cut, I repeatedly asked for more bangs and when the stylist didnt listen, I finally gave up. I figured it wasnt a big deal, as I thought the rest of the cut was okay.When I got home in the evening, washed and styled my hair, I really noticed it wasnt the cut Id asked for. I wanted a bit of shape at the back, my hair shaped in the front and my bangs back. What I got was a huge scoop at the back, to a straight abrupt edge in the front, it doesnt blend and no bangs.The stylist also turned away from me while she was cutting my hair and sneezed. She partially sneezed into the air and a little over her arm. After the sneeze she continued to cut my hair with out washing or sanitizing her hands. I was a tiny bit nervous about it, but it really started to bother me as the day went on.So my experience at Origin was a haircut that isnt in the style I wanted - a color appointment that didnt align with what I actually needed - with a stylist I really wasnt feeling comfortable with. I wasnt able to get my hair colored because no other options were even offered as an alternative to the balayge, just a cancellation fee.(I was trying to wait until Selwa was back because she is absolutely amazing (do see Selwa, if youre going to go here), but I really needed a cut.)Unfortunately I will not be going back to the salon after this experience. Its a lot of money spent on a haircut that isnt what I asked for and a coloring I didnt even get.Really be cautious before you book here, take the time you need to do your research and ask a lot of questions.

I went there for a hair cut . I had a picture of me with the style i wanted. Once she had finished her initial cut i told her that it was hardly cut and not like the style. She cut a little more but with no improvement. I would be ok if it was cut well even though it did not match the style, but it just looked horrible. I cannot wait to grow it out again. I do not recommend this place.

I visited the salon for the first time for a cut today as my hair was a total mess! (Literally) I decided to go to Origin hairdressers after reading some of the reviews. Ive never felt compelled to leave a review on anything before (ever!) but have been so pleased with the outcome I couldnt leave it. I now have an equally fantastic cut by Yasmeen. I was so impressed with the all round professionalism, The beautiful salon and the beautiful inside and outside Yasmeen. I couldnt have hoped for a better outcome. . Will definitely be coming back. This salon is amazing! My beautiful stylist, Selwa, does her work with precision and joy. She is the first stylist that has been able to cut my hair in the way that I want it. She truly understands my desires as a client and she goes above and beyond to meet them. Im so thankful for the time and undivided attention that she gives me while shes working with me, and I will be going back to her for until the end of time!The salon itself is great. Had a phenomenal experience yesterday at Origin Salon, with Yasmeen. First and foremost, my scalp massage, shampoo, cut and blow-dry was everything Id wanted and more. I told her it was the best my hair has ever looked and felt, and I meant it. Every single staff member I interacted with was super professional, polite and knowledgable. She also gave me really great advice on how to improve my hair health, as did Mellinda. This is definitely my new go-to place in Redmond for all things hair related. Even though I dont live in the area, will make the trip. Thank you!!

My first experience was a color correction. My hair was damaged from the years of harsh chemicals on my hair. I sat with the color specialist, Yasmeen, and we came up with a plan on how to bring my hair back to life. She was very honest about what I should expect and how long it would take to get my damaged hair where it needed to be. Ive been there a few times now, nursing my hair back to health. My hair feels and looks amazing. I have never received so many compliments on my hair. I have also had the pleasure of having my hair cut by Selwa. She does an amazing job cutting my curly hair. I love the fact that I can literally wash my hair, let it dry with a little bit of product, and my hair looks gorgeous! Literally that easy! My hair team is AWESOME!

Selwa gives the best blowout in town! This salon is a hidden gem in Redmond. It looks interesting from the outside, but as soon as you step in it is beautiful and inviting. The Aveda tea is a must try, as well as the fabulous scalp massages. Everyone is very friendly and attentive.

I had the best massage of my life here with Yasmine.I felt unbelievable afterwards.The forms were all on an iPad so it was a quick and easy check in.The massage was wonderful.My neck was in bad shape when I went in. Which was actually good timing for a massage lolShe is so calming and a really skilled therapist. She has a very good touch. It was the massage I had been longing for for a long time. Usually I can find fault in massages but this one was perfect! The only issue I had was that it had to end! I would have stayed there all day if I could!I was given a bed warmer, a choice of Aveda essential oils and an aroma therapy diffuser, and the room was lit by candlelight. So you can imagine how relaxing and serene it was.She checked in with me throughout the massage to make sure I was enjoying it and comfortable and Im pretty sure I fell asleep at some point and started snoring a little lolI would def recommend this salon and therapist!There was another woman in the spa and she seemed very friendly too. I think they offer other spa services because they have other rooms. Cant wait to come back!

Im a regular customer at Origin (Ra) Salon Spa, the staff is warm and welcoming. They are very accommodating. Also they have wifi which lets me work while I get my hair colored.

I like my hair to look natural Not beige or yellow and I hate big stripes of highlights Selwa corrected my hair which after trying to get it right from another salon would not be easy. Met her for the first time and badda bing, my highlights came out beautiful . Also have grey which is not easy to color. She went through every step with me and told me why she was doing what she was doing. She could tell I was nervous and made me feel very comfortable and calm.Thank you!

I don’t write reviews for many reasons. One being I could find a million more ways to spend my time, and I never read reviews because I don’t really trust the word of people I don’t know and people who could be completely different than me, and have different likes and dislikes. But here I am writing a review for a group of women that I adore so much! I come to this spa for my facials and this salon for my hair. I believe in women uplifting women and that is what I am here to do. All the women I have met here be it staff or other customers have been so lovely. The space is welcoming and the atmosphere is safe and fun. I met one of my dearest friends just sitting next to her at the salon and now we go together for our monthly maintenance and have a blast. ( they have yummy wine!)The women that work here are fantastic too. They know what they’re doing and I trust them to tell me the truth about how I look... and what works on me and what doesn’t.Currently I have super blonde hair. Like the kind of blonde that should make my hair fallout lol but because of the knowledgeable stylists at Origin I did everything they told me to do and I still have all my hair!Wether you take my word for it or not I’m sure if you’re reading this you’ll enjoy this salon! #womeninbusiness

Wow! I can not recommend this salon enough. Having lost faith in hairdressers on the Eastside from some pretty awful experiences, I had left my hair in a sorry state. After some researching I found Origin Salon Spa. This is not your average hairdressers, from the moment you step in the door to the moment you leave, your hair and experience is their priority. I had my first appointment with Selwafor full head foils and I’m so, so happy with the result. Selwa has given me sun kissed multi tonal highlights and more importantly confidence with my hair again!
