I will never hesitate to recommend Great Basin. For every time I have been in there, they have fixed the issue while I wait, or the same day. I went to Sierra before since they were open later, but told me it would like a 10 day turnaround for re-taping my rear tubeless rim. Took to these guys the next day and got it done on my lunch break. Great work done fast, period.

The place is low key. Rich is awesome! Helped me out right away. I just moved here and he was able to get me what I was looking for super quick.

Rich is exceedingly knowledgeable cycling as a whole, and provides a service that every cyclist should utilize in his bike fit and efficiency training. One session gave me the understanding to increase from mid 50% efficiency to high 80%, and the knowledge of what to go further. This training was by far the best money one can spend on cycling.

Needed a saddle for my 30 plus year old GT mtb, they had what I needed and installed it immediately. Great service along with a great attitude from the staff.

Really nice mechanics, fair prices, wouldn’t bring a complicated issue here. They worked for about 30 min on a fork and all 3 couldn’t figure out the problem. Brought it to black rock and he laughed and fixed it in under a minute. Again really great customer service here though

Quick and efficient! I went in yesterday for a kickstand for my daughters bike, and they were out of stock. He got some ordered while I was there and told me to come back today with the bike to size and install. I did, and we were in and out in no time! Price was great, too!! Love these guys!!

After ordering a part on the phone, I got a call three hours later that my part was in. They even helped me with an unrelated repair when picking up my part at no extra cost. These guys are awesome and care about their customers. Long live bike shops!

Great shop! The owner is super friendly and fixed up all our bike tires. My husband and I recently started riding our beach cruisers since we’re stuck at home. I am thinking of buying a rode bike and if I do, this is where I will buy it from! Fast and friendly service and they had a lot of nice bikes in there. We recently had a bad experience at another shop in South Reno. The owner of the other shop was rude and pretentious. (I think because we weren’t “serious” cyclists) It was such a breath of fresh air to walk into Great Basin and to be treated with kindness! We will be back for sure!

Amazingly quick, efficient and affordable service. My needs were minimal, but everything was resolved in 5-10 minutes so my 28-year old mountain bike is now safe and functional.

Two other local bike shops wouldnt even look at my bike because their backlog (one week and three weeks) was too large. Richard looked at my bike, made the necessary repairs, and had me on my way in less than 30 minutes.

Very knowledgeable and in & out bike repair. I showed up with a rattle on my back wheel, they fixed that (a loose cassette) and several other things I didnt even know where wrong. Bike feels like new, all in 10 minutes!

This is a super store... Its the people!After struggling with an odd sized set of rims and mismatched tires from Amazon, I went in to see them. They found me a better set of tires and worked their magic to install them properly.Good prices, good products and good service. What more could one ask?

Great place for repairs! Fixed my wifes mtb, new front derailleur shifter, bleed one brake, sanded brake pads to clear build up, machined brake mount on frame to set caliper correct, replaced bottom bracket. All in about an hour! Under a bill for parts and labor! Wish they worked on cars......

The Most knowledgeable shop in town, also the friendliest & fastest shop. They get your bicycle fixed, they offer great insight on cycling and area trails & routes to challenge you. I love this shop, do yourself a huge favor and shop here...

I have been faithfully commuting to work during Bike to Work Week. The other day I had two flats. The next morning looking at my tires under close examination I found multiple cracks and one flap of rubber in both my tires.I called them from work. They told me to bring the bike in right away. When they found out it was a commuter bike, they stopped everything when I showed up to the store and quickly replaced both the tires.I was out of there within 5 to 10 minutes. They were extremely friendly and efficient. I even got a discount for being part of ride your bike to work week. I highly recommend them to all my friends.

Recommended by a coworker, this place was amazing. The service was friendly, fast and reasonably priced. My bike hasnt been serviced in 10 years so there were a lot of problems and these guys brought it back to life in a few hours!I will return in the future!

I was treated with respect and courtesy, not a common thing in bike shops these days if you are female and not a club rider.I had had my thorns removed at Reno Cycling and Fitness - who let me leave with tire wall bulges that ruined my ride ( discovered on the ride). They were most unhelpful when I returned asking why this had happened and blamed the tire not explaining why they had let me leave if they thought the tire was bad...Great Basin helped me out where Reno Cycling and Fitness did not, got my bike road worthy and helped me out a great deal in a pinch. They now have my business!

Took my bike in for a tune up......The fellow there was the best....Got the bike working better than when it was new....Will take it thereevery year now for a tune up....Fast and good....Great place.

The brakes were seized while on vacation. Took the bike in and within an hour had the brakes fixed and re-sealed the tubeless tires as well. Quick service and courteous.

OMG! I Got a bike in Vegas for Burning Man, I called to ask if I need to have anything done to it, they asked questions on the bike and then told me it was perfect for being out there. The guy was knowledgeable, friendly, and put up with a lot of silly questions. AWESOME!!!!!

For my friend Tim, this was the most unprofessional, irresponsible, complete lack of any professionalism service appointment joke that either of us has ever experienced. I wouldnt recommend this shop to pump up a tire. Enough said, interact with at your own risk.

A wonderful experience at Great Basin Bikes; I had a brake problem on my race bike and Great Basin fixed the problem right away and gave me quite a bit of peace of mind.

The owner talks to you like youre an idiot and never does something so basic as asking you to leave your bike so they can have a look at your problem and call you back once theyve investigated it and learned something. No, hell just make offhand remarks about what he thinks the problem is or isnt without ever really investigating it, and hell make suggestions like just ride it until it fails completely or tell you that problem shouldnt happen when its of course happening. I live close to these guys, so Ive tended to take my bike there when theres an issue. But theyve failed to address two problems now, after having me spend money on parts or just dismissing the issue out of hand, that were solved in one shot by High Sierra Bicycles a few miles south. Unfortunately, I think a lot of other people around here already know this and so the queue at High Sierra to have your bike looked at is long.

I wouldnt take my bike anywhere else for repair. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Took a dive on my bike and had a bent rim and broken post and saddle. Brought the bike in just before closing time and they received it after rushing me out the door. That was fine, glad to at least get it in there for service. Was told that the rim replacement would be about $60. Sounded fine to me.I called them up the next business day that they are open to see if they had taken a look at it yet. They had not, but told me they would give me a call back. I missed their call which was about an hour later and called them back an hour after that.I talked to the owner Steve on the phone. He said, The bike is ready and it will be $133. I was quite surprised. I said The last time I talked to someone they said they would call me back with a quote. AND HERE IS WHERE I WAS FLOORED. THE OWNER, STEVE, SAID WELL, IF YOU DONT LIKE IT WE CAN TAKE ALL THE NEW PARTS OFF FOR YOU, AND PUT YOUR OLD BROKEN PARTS BACK ON, NO PROBLEM.WTF? Who says something like that to a customer?You know, I was happy that they had gotten the work done. But I wanted to know what my options were for the rim and saddle since there is a lot of different ways to go with rims and saddles. But the decisions were made for me and at no point was I ever consulted about the replacements.When I went in to pick up the bike I decided to tell them I was not happy with what was said. Their answer Well, I dont think there is anything we can say now to make it better. Really? They had a chance to make it right. I NEVER EVER RECEIVED AN APOLOGY. Actually, thats all I really wanted. I would have liked to hear Sorry, we were far too proactive in fixing your bike and did not consult with you at all. What can we do to make this right for you? BUT THAT WAS NEVER SAID. ALL I GOT WAS A COCKY ARROGANT ATTITUDE.I am quite shocked too. I read all the reviews and never has anyone left a bad one. I just calls them as I sees them. I wont be back. Lots of choices for bike shops in Reno.
