The best bike shop in Richmond! Any time I have had a question the staff Sers down what they are doing and takes time to answer all questions, provide advice, and don’t pressure yo into bu ya bugging. Also, their food and drink selection is awesome. I will be back many times!

If I could give 10 stars I would! I drove from DC to buy a bike that I knew was in stock at Outpost. Everyone I interacted with was so kind and shared my enthusiasm for getting a new bike! I worked with Charlotte who didnt hesitate to make all the adjustments I needed to test ride my bike. They gave me great tips for local riding and had a huge selection of beers in store. Also, as a bike riding lady Ive had countless experiences in bike shops where male employees talk at me/down to me about my bike/bike maintenance. It was so refreshing to walk in to a bike shop with a mostly female presenting staff and feel like I was actually working *with* the person who was selling me the bike.

I love this place. Had some wheels and frame work done here. Have purchased parts and beer...and bread flour? :) Braden actually answers emails and is very helpful when consulting on builds (huzzah youd think most of the other bike shops in the city were tech illiterate) and actually acts like he wants my business unlike some of my experiences with CBC and Coqui. Seriously why do so many bike shops treat you like youre just a pleeb? Between Outpost and Agees theres almost no reason for me to order anything bike related online unless its a specialty item. Im moving to Southside and will be even closer to Outpost very soon. I promise I wont creep on yall. I love the mission here...bikes for the people. No dentist bikes :)

This place is SERIOUSLY cool! Half bike shop, half market?! And just a few blocks from the Nickel Bridge, perfect place to take a break after a good few miles in the saddle, grab a beer, a spare inner tube, or even buy one of the many cool bikes they have for sale! We love coming here part way through long rides through town, check them out!

Great bike shop and market. The team here is cool as a fan. They’ve done a number of repairs and significant upgrades to my mountain bike. And we purchased a great bike for my wife here recently. All world-class experiences.Specific shout out to Simon for his recent help in upgrading my fork and front wheel. It’s like I’ve got a brand new bike. He spent a lot of time walking me through my options. He didn’t pressure me at all, he took his time with me, and seemed to genuinely want to help. And they carry Isastegi cider, which is a huge bonus.

So many locally made products here (Nightingale ice cream sandwiches! Don Sebastian jalapeño dip!) including food and gift items. It’s a convenient one stop shop for so many things you wouldn’t otherwise find in the Southside. They also are a go-to for specialty coffee gear and filters.Stop in and you shouldn’t leave empty handed!

Outpost for wine and snax. they told me to park my MONSTER WOBBITY XTRA WIDE bike in a nice convenient spot so that i could shop safely. I had them do upgrades to my bike. Included with that was a seat dropper very hard to do since each bike is different. There were some glitches and they worked with me to get it working right. I know of no one with a post production seat dropper that doesn’t have some issues. These guys were able to work with me make sure it worked right. Also really cool store.

I was able to get a new bike for the kid effortlessly. Despite the shortage of bikes, they had both colors, the bike was put together for me within a half day, and the transaction took minutes. I appreciate everything and highly recommend their shop. Very cool store, market in front, bikes in back!

Ive used the bike shop a couple of times but mostly use the grocery side. They have most of what you need last minute: milk, butter, eggs, some produce. But they also have what you didnt know you needed: local cheese, local hummus, local bread, and a fantastic beer selection. Add King of Pops popsicles and it is pretty much the perfect quick top shop.

Let me start with this: Outpost carries some high-quality goods and they definitely have a desire to carry local brands which is awesome. The only issue I have with them is the constant lectures I get that stem from the simplest of questions. Three times now Ive had to listen to the performance at any cost Outpost 101 lecture where the employee makes zero effort to understand my question and instead insists on letting me know that they know better than me.Outpost is not a welcoming environment. If you ask if they carry a brand that offers rim braking (my question), they will quickly pull out the chair to have you sit down and watch the presentation on how disc brakes are infinitely better than rim brakes (rather than ask why you dont want disc brakes because the cost of upgrading your current wheelset may be prohibitive on top of a new frame). Another time I went in to buy water bottles and the employee told me I couldnt touch the bottles (this review is during COVID phase two reopening) which I totally understood. I asked if she could pull some from the back for me to look at closer up (I wasnt wearing my glasses since my mask fogs em up) and she told me I could settle for looking at them from where they were. There was one other customer in the store and she couldnt even be bothered to grab the bottles for me to see.Outpost: youve lost a bit of yourself in how cool you think you are. Try and understand your customers needs (just a little bit perhaps). At the end of the day, we all know you know more and you dont have to lecture me every time I come in (literally almost every single time). Its just bikes, guys and gals.

I don’t usually review establishments unless they are above and beyond (one way or the other) and outpost Richmond fits that bill. This establishment is by far the best and most helpful bike shop in Richmond for their customer service, expertise, and friendly group mountain bike rides. We were helped by Simone (apologies if I am misspelling) but all of the staff were very friendly. When shopping for a new mountain bike, he outlined all of the features, pros, cons, and even took us on an amazing ride which helped identify our specific needs as mountain bikers. This will be my one and only bike shop here in Richmond from this point forward. If you seek competent, detailed (cannot stress this enough when it comes to bike servicing!!) and reliable bike expertise, shop here!Cheers

This place is TERRIBLE. Poor, absolutely poor customer service. I don’t know any of their names but I would not recommend going there. Absolutely disgusting the way they treat customers coming in, especially considering it was my first time. The lady at the cashier had a negative and poor attitude, not warm, friendly or welcoming at all. Left a bad taste in my mouth and definitely will NOT be returning. I’ll be sure to inform people not to return either.

Braden, Curt and staff are awesome and really helpful. If you want a place that knows their stuff, is committed and cares about the customer just as much as their business, and believes in this city... then go here! Their ideas and values for Cycling and The Richmond Community are what makes this shop feel more of like a gathering place and less of just a store. I have yet to try the grocery store part, but I’m sure I’ll be trying it out soon. However, the bike shop will make you keep coming back for more.

Outpost does a fantastic job of just about everything! The staff, both up front and in the bike shop, are amazing, knowledgeable, humble, and friendly. My experience has been nothing but great. As a guy who considers himself to be pretty handy, I do the majority of my own bike work, normally ordering the parts I need from a local shop and then doing the installation/repair myself. This doesnt always make me the most appealing customer from a business standpoint, but the folks at Outpost always deliver stellar service whether they are performing the labor or not, they legitimately want to help and make sure that you have a good experience. I cannot recommend these guys enough, whether its your kids bike that needs a tune up or your 6k full-suspension enduro bike they can get it done!

PREDATORY BUSINESS, DO NOT GO HERE. THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOU.Terrible customer service first of all. They acted like they were mad I was a customer, and had better things to do than help me spend my money in their store.Second, I took my bike in to get new brake pads and have the rear wire harnessing reconnected, and I was told they wouldnt even work on my bike for less than $125. After asking what that included, they wanted to replace every single moving part on the bike which it did not need.Bought an allen wrench at the dollar store, fixed the bike myself, it took me 15 minutes. 10/10 Would never return to this business, and do not suggest it to others.

This shop is nice. I understand this is a small and local shop and I would love to support a shop like this over any big corporate operation. However, an example, I cant buy a set of pedals for 100 bucks when I can get the exact pair (not on sale) online with free shipping for 30. Thats a huge difference.Just visited this place again after a while. The pedals mentioned above are now 40 bucks. Hahaha... I should point out some other things, including their grocery stuff, that are way over priced so they may think pricing again.
