The worst experience buying a book in my whole life. I lost US$40 buying a book from them at Amazon.com, they refuse refund me after selling the same book twice. If you value your money, don´t buy from this company.

These guys are a rip off. Ordered a book, received no communication or tracking on it. Then when I want a refund, they conveniently add a tracking number that has nothing to do with where I live. Lastly, their review on Abebooks is somehow a 5 star rating? But everywhere else it’s a bit more accurate closer to 1 star. Save your money and time, shop elsewhere.

Bought a new copy of a textbook that I needed by the start of the term. It was late AND it was the wrong edition. When I looked at the packing slip, it was sent from another seller in a different state. Ergodebooks paid $5.99 for an old edition of the book, and had it shipped to me from another seller. But I paid them over $170 for the current edition.When I tried to return it, they insisted that I pay return shipping. I finally had to contact Amazon to get my refund. And I still dont have the book.And they are still offering the book for sale...now at $180.

This companys prices are much more expensive than Amazon and eBay. They purposely set their prices high because they actually dropship their inventory from Amazon. So when they sell a $140 book on their website, they are not actually sending you the book they own. Instead they are purchasing a cheaper book from Amazon and putting your address down for shipping. You are NOT receiving the book from them.

Do not order from this place, ripoff artists at work. You probably wont get what you ordered and will only refund a small amount of your money. They seem only partially legitimate. After looking at the comments in the reviews it looks like these guys will sell you whatever you want. If they have a copy they send it or something close to it. If they dont have it in stock it gets lost. They only give token refunds and often misrepresent the item. ie. You might get a paperback when you ordered a hard cover. Or the condition is not as advertised..I had ordered a signed copy of a book through Amazon/Ergodebooks. I received the book with no signature. I contacted them and they responded with an email stating that they no longer had the signed copy and offered a 10% refund. I was not happy with 10% and they responded with a 15% refund and a Poor us email about how much they had to pay Amazon. I am now going to see how Amazon handles my complaint.

I purchased a used book from Ergodebooks in July 2021 as a gift. I paid $81.98. The recipient opened the book and found an invoice for $18. I contacted Ergodebooks and provided them with a copy of the $18 invoice. They basically said too bad you agreed to pay $81.98. My order took over six weeks from the US to Australia., so be warned the shipping is snail mail.I honestly thought my book would never arrive, because I had already ordered, then I read the reviews... I thought I had lost my money for sure. The tracking number I was originally given, didn’t provide any tracking information at all. After five weeks of nothing, I contacted them again. This time they gave me another tracking number that actually worked. Much to my relief, the book finally arrived. I was expecting a second hand book and it arrived as described. Happy to have my book, but the negative reviews didn’t give me any confidence in the transaction.

I ordered a not-rare, not-in demand, and mass published boom from Ergodebooks via Biblio, which they showed in pretty good shape complete with dust jacket and the condition listed as good and priced accordingly. While it arrived in a decent interval, the book I received was not as pictured, the dust jacket was gone entirely, the cover had 2 big chunks missing which had bizarrely had blank mailing labels slapped on them (Ive worked with used books, this is damaging to an already damaged book and a reputable bookseller would never do it), and the spine and pages were greatly marked and stained. They had pulled a bait and switch on the copy I bought, and purposely misrepresented the condition in their description. Spend your money elsewhere and stay far away from this dishonest seller.

The wrong book was delivered. I had to pay an expensive customs duty on that. The amount was not replaced. The book was sold out, they said - at the same time it is offered more expensive. The customer service did not respond to the facts. Several times I was forced to call an expensive international line. NOT SERIOUS! NOT HELPFUL! NOT RECOMMENDED! VORSICHT VOR DIESEM ANBIETER! SO, I should have taken a minute to read the bad reviews. They tried to pull a fast one. I ordered a hardcover book which was $23 more expensive. They shipped a paperback version and their response has been horrible. I sent photos and offered to keep the book if they adjusted the price to paperback, also offered to send it back for the proper book. Finally they sent me a shipping code to send the book back. They never had the hardcover version, they were deceitful in their sale. Now, Ill have to follow up for god knows how long to get my refund. Then I have to buy it somewhere else. and wait another week. AVOID THEM

I never got the book I ordered. When I tracked the order it said they delivered it in the mailbox in a town I dont live in. Theres no phone number to call and I havent gotten a reply back for why I havent received the book. If I could get the teachers edition drivers ed book I would be satisfied. Mines falling apart after many years.

I should have known the price for the textbook was too good to be true. Ergode Books was selling a textbook I wanted for 1/3rd of the price all other sites were selling it at. I received an order confirmation but never a tracking number for my order. 6 days after my purchase, I received an email from them saying a full refund had been credited my to me. I contacted their customer support to determine why I they were refunding my order. I received a very poorly written, and unprofessional email explaining that the shipping label was damaged, and so was the book and that now they are out of stock and cannot send another. I have yet to receive my refund.Also, 3 days after using my credit card on their site my credit card number was stolen and someone attempted to buy $2,000+ of airline tickets. This has never happened to my credit cards before. Coincidence? Perhaps. Highly probable? Yes.Please, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

Horrible company. I purchased a Dr. seuss book from them that was in stock. Then a few days later they said its not in stock and refunded my money. I ordered a rarer Stephen King book and paid $22 for it. I received a random paperback book by a completely different author that retails for $6.95. I sent two emails to customer service and tried calling several times. After the first email, in which the customer service rep apparently misunderstood my initial message and told me my package should be arriving soon (???), I havent been able to get in touch with anyone else to rectify this. This place is a complete waste of time and money. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. STAY AWAY!

When my credit card company reached out to them, I got an email from Ergodebooks asking me to withdraw the dispute because they were unable to issue the refund due to the chargeback. Once I did this they would refund me immediately. I did withdraw the dispute and was never refunded. I called my credit card company again and they said if this happens in the future not to withdraw a dispute, companies can do refunds even with a chargeback in place. Please learn from my mistake and save yourself this headache by avoiding this company!

Ordered one book, shortly after I received an email that there was an error with my address and would have to provide an alternative. I have only one address, told them either send it or refund me. Never received a reply from this. I had to contact them separately for any info. Apparently the address error was a mistake, and my order had shipped and was on the way. The support person had a bit of an attitude about it, so I told them it was all news to me. Item arrived as expected, but absolutely terrible communication. Would not recommend this company.

I ordered a book from Ergodebooks through Abe on February 15th and I was told that I’d receive it on or before March 7th. When I didn’t get my book by the deadline, I emailed them and I was offered a refund since they said it was lost in the mail. I said I wanted one and I still haven’t received it. Since then, I emailed and called them several times without any response. By now I have given up expecting to be refunded, and I wasted $20 in making a purchase from this company.

This is an incredibly shady business which is harming actual brick and mortar book stores.I am originally from a few streets away from their “location” but am now working in a bookstore in Canada. We sell on Abe books and they ordered a couple of times from us. They pestered us to get the books shipped, we shipped them expedited (expensive from Canada) and then they said the books they received were wrong or not delivered and received a refund from Abe books (which was taken out of our account).Their tactic is to list books they don’t have for cheaper than the ones listed on sites like Abe books. Once an order is placed, they order the book from legitimate sellers and then weasel out of paying for it. This is why customers report receiving books which don’t match the description or books which take ages to arrive.My suggestion, check the seller to see if they are a legitimate business and support those small business owners (especially in this rough time).

Long story short I purchased a book 9/1/2020 volume 1, well I received volume 2(9/4/2020) and I contacted them about it and I get a reply the very next day 9/5/2020 saying theyre sorry and plus some other lies, well they ask me for pictures of the book to confirm it was the incorrect item, I sent them right away. Then I heard nothing back from them I reached out to them again on 9/13/2020 just asking for an exchange as I just needed volume 1. I did get a reply the very next day (9/14/2020) just with a label return and was told to return the book nothing was mentioned about an exchange which is what I wanted, but whatever so I returned the book. Then I get an email 9/20/2020 and another one on 9/24/2020 asking for a positive review (are you kidding me) I did email them 9/24/2020 saying I had returned the book already and I was just waiting on my refund what did I get a reply form them telling me to return the book and that they had kindly attached a UPS return label first of all it wasnt UPS it was a USPS label and second they did not read the email(s) horrible customer service. Plus they do not answer the phone, I tried contacting them and it just rings but nobody answers. The post office took over a week to deliver it back so I waited, they received the book on 9/25/2020 (a Friday) so I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to wait the usual 3-5 business days to get the refund posted on my account well it is now 10/3/2020 and I am still waiting for my refund, I dont have the book so I hope I did not just loose +$55 to this horrible company. Do not make the same mistake I did and order from them, do yourself a favor and go to a different company DO NOT get anything from them you might get scammed.

I ordered a book through biblio.com from ergodebooks, chibi vampire volume 10. I paid $12 and did not get any tracking info even though they said it shipped. A month later after I get contacted by biblio asking me how my book is I said well I wouldnt know I never received it. They were nice enough to tell me they were processing a refund and that the book was damaged or lost in shipping. I relook at the website and ergodebooks had the AUDACITY TO RELIST THE BOOK I PURCHASED. They now have it listed at $48 which is insane! I hope they go out of business because that is just sketchy and so unprofessional. Will be telling everyone to never purchase a book from them.

I just want to let it be known that I tried for weeks to work something out with this company. Called multiple times and left one voicemail. No answers to those calls. I know it took a bit to get things going with the state of the world. Nearly a full three weeks later I havent received any refund, exchange, or an idea of what is to come next. I live with in 3 days mail tops during this mail delay of the world. literally in the same state. I understand you guys are a smaller book shop, but that does excuse any of this. The textbook I ordered arrived fast and as a used textbook goes, this is probably the nicest one that I have seen with that many names just inside the cover, so it was a public textbook but it was very well taken care of. I say this because I have ordered textbooks in the past that had pages blacked out from markers from other sellers, that didnt affect it too much as that specific information wasnt vital to the lesson, but I will probably order from ergodebooks.com again if I can. The price was good, it shipped fast, and the actual book is in pretty good quality even being a used one.

I ordered a book on August 7th with which on August 20th I received two incorrect books. I called this establishment more than once and emailed them just about daily for the past week. It seems they do not answer their phone or email back in a timely fashion. I am still in the process of getting the correct book. If I cannot get the correct book I will be requesting a full refund. If I do not receive the book I ordered or get a full refund, I will not be shopping here again. This experience was a huge hassle full of back and forth and uncertainty.

I purchased a book that has become increasingly difficult to track down, through Booksrun. Ergodebooks sent a tracking number, and the order was delivered way outside of my zip code area. I contacted Booksrun, and there records indicated that the book had never shipped. They probably didn’t even have a copy to begin with...After a week of back and forth with USPS, and Booksrun, I was able to get my order refunded and had these scammers removed from the Booksrun network. As the seller never responded to any of my communications.STAY AWAY.

I was excited to receive a book only to realize they sent it to a completely incorrect zip code? Next thing I see is a refund? Not sure how they messed up so terribly when I double checked and everything was entered correctly but I wasn’t able to re purchase the book from them and now I have to find a new seller. Warning to everyone you may never receive what you order because they don’t know how to ship an item.

The book was shipped quickly by the vendor. The Post Office delayed receipt of the book by a over a week and a half however when it arrived at the Philadelphia terminal. Fortunately, Ergodebooks supplied a tracking number and I was able to jar the shipment loose by requesting tracking updates from the Post Office. After my request, the book arrived in about 2 days. Good service from the vendor, not such good service by the Post Office.

A week after ordering a book I received notice that my order had been cancelled. According to Google customer service Ergodebooks was out of stock and I would receive a refund in about a week. Great. No book for me, a free loan for the company. Will never order from them, or through Google, again.

I ordered the complete set of harry potter books. Unfortunately, the first book in the series was not included in the shipment. They were unable to obtain the book to send me, but they did refund me 15% of my purchase which actually equates to more than the price per book would be. So I am grateful to them and I think they handled the issue very professionally. Only took off one star because I never got my book.

They say they provide the best customer service, but in actual fact they ignored many emails relating to a damaged item which is eligible under law for a full refund. It is only by virtue of purchasing via Paypal that they were forced to address the issue & even then they do not want to take responsibility for providing damaged items & not processing refunds in a timely manner. Never order ANYTHING from these people.I ordered a limited edition LP on Amazon from Ergodebooks. When they said they shipped, I asked for a tracking number. They send a scripted email WITHOUT the information I sought. Called their number, NO one picks up!Then they pester me to remove the one-star that I assigned on Amazon. EVERY time I ask for my order, they said once they ship they bear no responsibility - BUT they DO NOT provide a tracking number. HOW do I know that they indeed shipped it???After several emails, Amazon issued a refund but I lost the window to buy the LP for a reasonable price. That price has now gone up significantly!!

Im getting weight loss surgery soon and my Dr recommended a book. When I looked the book up on Amazon, Ebay, and other selling sites, the book was nearly $60-$70 !!! Luckily I found ERGODEBOOKS and bought a used version for ONLY $11 !!! When I recieved the book I couldnt even tell it had been used, as it looked practically brand new! I definitely recommend ERGODEBOOKS!!!

They had a hard-to-find book; came fairly quickly; although looking for/adding expedited shipping did show up as an option to select. Customer service was responsive but expedited shipping didnt come up as an option at checkout, or it wasnt clearly apparent. I would recommend them because the books came in good shape and still was timely despite the miscommunication on shipping speed.

I asked for a tracking # and they ignored my question and said they will give me a refund. They said they processed it and it would take a few days. A week went by and still no refund. I emailed and called and no one answered. I had to open up a case with PayPal and that’s when they finally gave me a refund.

I emailed the company to ask what happened and they told me they could replace or refund the item. When I asked for a replacement they told me they don’t have one. My experience with this vendor was more like dealing with a scam artist than a bookstore. Through Amazon, I placed an order for an academic text (Technoromanticism: Digital Narrative, Holism, and the Romance of the Real) valued at about $32, including shipping and handling. I did so because I have been using Amazon to cut down on person-to-person contact related to my research during the Covid pandemic.Instead, they sent me a worthless junk bin book (Decathlon Challenge: Bruce Jenner’s Story) that has nothing to do with my order. Their version of correcting the problem was to offer me a 20% refund (complete with crocodile tears regarding how the refund would cut directly into their profits), to let me know that they would try and find me the book that I ordered and would possibly (read: possibly not) send it to me within 3-5 weeks, if they could find it, or to ask me to go through the effort returning the product they sent to me in error (shunting both the time and cost required to correct the issue into my lap, despite the fact that the problem was entirely caused by failures on their end), after which they would then provide me with a refund (supposedly).Do yourself a favour, if you see these guys selling something via Amazon or the like, avoid this seller like the Black Plague. You will just end up having to contact Amazon to deal with this seller’s shoddy business practices.

This company is either mismanaged or just a fraudulent scam.I made an order on Oct 21st, they said that the order was shipped the next day(Oct 22) but did not update the shipping information.When asked they said they would update it and never did.After I requested a cancellation over a week later due to no updates, they updated the shipping info(Stated shipped Nov 3rd) and charged me immediately.They still did not update the tracking information so I still have no idea whether the package was shipped or not.Avoid buying from here, its a bigger hassle than needed.

Through the Alibris website I ordered a book through Ergodebooks for $15. The book never came. A few week later the same book was on their website for $77. It turns out this was a rare book. They must have realized this and jacked up the price. Well see if this gets rectified, but Im suspecting bad business practices. I will update this if they correct this problem.

At first I was very skeptical of this business seeing all the negative reviews. I tried calling several times and never got an answer. They did respond to emails. I purchased a used copy of Gone With the Wind. It arrived in a timely manor, was well packaged, and in better condition than I expected. I would buy from them again.

This place has some of the worst customer service you can find. Contacted them on the last day of their shipping estimate which was roughly two weeks, and they were very prompt at first. Letting me know that it shipped out the very next day I ordered it, that they were a small family business, this was a huge loss, and what I would like them to do. Returned email stating I wanted to cancel my order and a refund. Again, emailed me back somewhat promptly stating they were a small family business and this was huge loss. Emailed them again, and again, and again. No refund. Called them numerous times and left messages never speaking to anyone. Still havent gotten my refund, but Ill continue to call and email them because they are just about the worst business Ive had to deal with. Avoid these people at all cost, and give them none of your business

I ordered a celestial navigation book through Ergode Books. I was notified by Ergode that it was delivered (after a couple of months waiting). I went to my Post Office who informed me that the book was NOT delivered. The Post Office did a search and found that, on the same date that Ergode said the delivery took place, the book was delivered to another Post Office in an entirely different State (New South Wales). I was told and given paperwork that showed that the address used by Ergode Books was NOT my Post Office address.So, I gather the information and wrote an email to Ergode Books disclosing the details of the missed delivery including Australia Post Tracking numbers. Its now three times that Ive emailed Erode Books and I keep receiving the exact same generated email telling me to gather the information. Ive done it, three times. They have failed to live up to their promise.I WILL NOT BE USING ERGODE BOOKS AGAIN

Dont buy from these people! They also have a store on Amazon.ca My book never arrived after waiting over a month for it, and there was no tracking number provided. They offered me a refund but I never got that either.I highly doubt the book was even shipped . Fortunately with Amazons A-Z guarantee I was able to get my money back.

I still have not received a book I ordered on June 16, 2020. It is now July 19, 2020. The tracking information I was provided still shows pre-shipping. These people are con-artists.

We ordered a book, it wasn’t the right one that they sent and the book was returned never received and we never received a refund or a replacement. Never received an email never even received a response or acknowledgment.. A terrible experience especially these days when money is tight and they take it vantage of people

What experience? I found a book I wanted. I sent them the money. Thats the end of the story. Just TRY to get in touch with these people. No reply and no response. Reflects VERY POORLY on AbeBooks that theyve included (or created?) this non-operation under their banner. Still waiting.

Excellent customer service, super fast shipping, perfectly packaged product. The book itself is beautiful with no flaws and the price was more than fair. Will be buying from Ergode Books again very soon!

Got scammed by this company -- avoid at all costs! Ordered a book which did not arrive; they failed to provide tracking info or proof they sent it and refused refund. Wish Id read the warnings about them beforehand. Do not let them rip you off too -- avoid ordering from them!

My order came quickly, it was packaged well. It had one small tear in the cover I wasnt expecting, but it was a 30 year old book thats out of print, so I was very happy to even find a copy. All in all, I am very satisfied with my experience 👍.- Alan

Received my book faster than anticipated!!! I was super excited to give it to my teenage daughter who enjoys reading it and carrying it to church. Ill definitely be ordering more items from here.

I was shipped a book in unreadable condition–warped and stained, with torn pages, cracked spine, and covered in stickers. Ergodebooks were delayed in response and unhelpful in offering a refund. Will not purchase from them again.

The book arrived relatively quickly even during the pandemic. It is in excellent condition and, of course, the drawings are exquisite. The price was very reasonable, too.
