As a female who doesn’t know a ton about cars, it’s very hard to find a honest mechanic (I have family that DOES know about cars, so I tend to quickly find out when I’ve been lied to… which has happened multiple times). That’s not the case here. Jeff is the RARE honest mechanic who truly tries to help his customers, and not con them out of their money like some other places. Jeff has been working on my cars for about 5 years now - including everything from simple oil changes to resolving more complex issues. I’ve referred multiple friends / family to him because of it. In addition, the quality of his work is great, his experience is evident, he is good at explaining issues in easy to understand ways, pricing is fair, and everyone else who works there is friendly / helpful. If you’re in the market for a new mechanic, I highly recommend giving them a chance!

I had a wonderful experience at RPM Mobil 1 Car CareCenter.Reason for visit: To get a second opinion regarding the airbag warning light on my BMW Z4.Why: I previously took the vehicle to Bimmer Rescue as they had performed service on my airbag light just 9 months previous and I had a warranty for the work. Bimmer Rescue told me I needed a new sensor and the repair cost would be 2,100 approximately.Thomas,Owner at RPM and RPM Car Care: While getting some tint work done on another vehicle at the RPM performance store, I shared my experience with Thomas and he assured me their mechanic would give me a thorough airbag diagnostic to make sure that the problem as mentioned earlier in fact is the problem.My visit to RPM Care Center: I called the facility on a Saturday afternoon at approximately 2pm, and let them know the owner, Thomas recommend that I bring my car in to diagnose my problem. They made me aware that they were closing soon but if I could get there in the next 15 minutes they will be happy to take a look at my vehicle.Arrival: I was greeted by a nice customer service front counter person and let her know I am the guy that just called regarding the Z4. She called the mechanic to the front counter (I can’t remember his name) but let me emphasize he is very nice and he thank me for bringing the car in. I told him my problem and he took the keys and drove the car into the bay right away.20 minutes later: The mechanic came out to speak with me and to let me know my airbag light is off and everything is functioning properly.My response: You kidding, Get the F... outta here! His response- no sir it’s all good!The problem: a loose wire under the driver’s seat. The mechanic connected the wire and reset the warning light. This place is awesome. The manager, Jeff, is super friendly. They are busy there, but I can always make an appointment any time I want to with much flexibility, or just drop my car off and theyll take care of it. Jeff is very honest and will be a straight-shooter with you about how the major auto body chain stores will overcharge you. He also will do a fair discount for police/military personnel. I dont even live in Richmond full time and I wont take my car for services to anywhere but Jeff and the staff at RPM.

Richmond Performance Modifications (RPM), their other partner business, recommended me to go to this place. They performed alignment in my Z4 after RPM installed tires, pretty good job (one Star)! However, I took my truck here last week for alignment and balancing of wheels as I was experiencing vibration in steering wheel, and didn’t want to deal with dealer, feel better supporting small business. First they called me to tell me the shocks were bad (33,000 m), which I knew they weren’t. I’m a woman, but not stupid!...or they have a Tech with no knowledge!!! They balanced the wheels and more vibration than before was still there after I left. We called and they still said it was the shocks, and a bent rim that is in the back. Alignment and balance cost $200 thou. Out of my frustration, I decided to take the truck back to the dealer. Shocks are perfect and they found out the balancing was done incorrectly and Mobil 1 didn’t even remove the old balancing weights and stock some new ones in top of old ones. The bent rim in the back is not causing the issue. Vibration gone now!!! Definitely this is a place that I would never go back. And yes, if you’re a woman, be aware they may try to fool you with repairs that are not needed and won’t do the job correctly, cause they think a woman won’t notice. Well that time in history is gone, women are smarter than ever these days, and very knowledgeable! What a shame Mobil 1!

Not impressed guy told me one thing wrong with my car then said it was this and that!!!Could not make up his mind what was wrong with my car, then found out that its owned by same midget chinese guy the owner messed up my windows, tinting them last year!!RPM!!Had to get united solar tint redo them,service and quality suck...

#1 place to have automotive work done. Very Clean, fast and friendly. Talk to Jeff and he will take care of anything you need. I have a good level of mechanic skill and for jobs i cant or dont want to do i have RPM take care of. Recently i needed to have 2 tires mounted and balanced and also needed to be to work by 8am. The car was in the shop at 7 and i was on the road at 7:30. Excellent shop to do business with and very reasonable prices.

I live on the Outer Banks but travel to Richmond often. I picked this garage on a whim when I needed a new starter and was very happy with the service. Jeff is always very friendly, doesnt take advantage of the little knowledge I have of cars, and never tries to sell me things I dont need. Brought my car in for state inspection, and they accurately identified that I needed a tire changed. Seems like a legitimate and honest place. They wound up not charging me anything for the inspection.

I brought a car from a rental car place located beside rpm. Since the owner had the car servived there while in is care I continued services when i purchased my vehicle. Jeff is always there when I come, and he is very professional, kind, and a pretty cool guy. I can tell he takes his work seriously, and is dedicated. The prices are affordable, and the service is done in a timely manner. If you live in Richmond, Virginia and need any car maintence rpm is the place to go for quality work. I always feel welcomed in that shop because they are not #1, you are !!

Opens nice and early at 7 am. Polite staff. Offers 10% discount to VCU students with a student ID. Nice waiting room, super clean bathroom and plenty of parking. Aunt Sarahs Pancake House is a convenient place to eat across the street if you want to get started early in the morning. Also, hang a right and walk 0.9 to McLEANS for a great brunch.

Absolute WORST customer service! My truck which had just been purchased 3 days prior was taken to this shop to look at a sensor light which came on based on recommendation of the dealership. One of their drivers was test driving it after repair and hit another vehicle in my car. My truck was deemed a total loss. This company is the ABSOLUTE WORST to deal with. The negligence of this company and its insurance company has definitely left a very sour taste in my mouth. I would NOT recommend them AT ALL!!!!

RPM Mobil One are con artist!!! I took my mustang in for a state inspection. I was told that I needed a brake master cyclinder and they quoted me for $500 to get it fix in order for my car to pass inspection.I took it to Pepboys and they looked at my car and said I just need my brakes to be bled. Pepboys bled my brakes and fixed the soft brake pedal.This business should be sued! I understand people need to make a living, but dont lie to you customers.

They fit my car in for a state inspection on a Saturday afternoon at the last minute. Was in and out in 20 minutes!The mechanic was polite, friendly and helpful. They have a waiting area with a restroom.

This place will rip you off. Hahaha plus, I saw 19 reviews that were obviously from them. I wonder how many reviews werent obvious. Cheating on the review forum, cheating your customers, at least youre consistent. Its funny when you go after people that wrote bad reviews. Some are factual so shes CRAZY wont work.This is my first review Ive ever written but this shop tried to screw me over so bad, I had to warn people, especially women. I needed an inspection and they said I needed two tie rods( whatever those are) quoting me $584.00. Parts were $80, 66.67, and 17.79 (shop supplies). I looked on line and both tie rods were $16. The labor was $105, $147, and 79.94(Alienment). The paper receipt said $504.00 (the $16 Inspection fee turned out to be $80) but I knew that wasnt right so I just paid the $16. I went to another mechanic to get my tie rods replaced and they said I didnt need them. Also, the new mechanic passed my car for inspection, took off my rejection sticker, put a passed sticker on for only $16. If there is one woman out there that decides NOT to take her car there, I feel ok about writing this. these days I dont think anyone has an extra $584 lying around. So if these guys thinks its ok to take advantage of people that rely on their trade and trust them to be honorable, I hope they get it right back to them in the same way they give it out! DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS! Unless u have an extra $584.00 lying around to give away, but Id give it to the meals on wheels that the government just got rid of.

Updating to say they will be my go-to mechanics from now on. A month after i had a wheel bearing replaced (by another mechanic), i noticed a knocking noise when i applied my brakes.On my next oil change I asked Jeff about it, and within 30 minutes he figured out where the noise was coming from. First thing he said was, who replaced your wheel bearing last? They didnt use the right tools for it. The previous mechanic bent some brackets while removing the old bearing. These guys are the real deal!

They are not honest people!! They mark up the prices exponentially. I came in to replace my gearbox shifter in my mustang and they told thats a dealer item so they checked and told me it was $450 plus labor of $120. I called the same Ford dealership they called and Ford told me the part was $280!!! DONT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOURE A FIRST TIMER. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WHERE THEY GET THE PART AND CALL FIRST. I NEVER WILL GO BACK!!!

My engine was shaking and I wondered why, they told me I needed new spark wire plugs, so I gotga full tune up. A month or so later, my check engine light comes on and my engine is shaking again. Checked it out with another mechanic and he told me the wires werent connected right and it was burning...Went back to get it fixed and my check engine light is still on with the same engine shaking issue

Lies. They did not have the equipment to diagnose my problem and charged me hundreds over several visits for a recurring problem. It was a loose computer. They were tapping it to fix it, charged $85.00 each time, and not honor their warranty when it recurred. after my third visit, my vehicle died less than 100 feet after leaving their parking lot. They finally admitted their scam.
