Charles has a great working knowledge and a deep passion about the vintage mandolins and guitars that he deals in. Give him a call or visit their website and pick your own dream instrument... no matter the fine instruments available from modern builders, nothing has the power, tone, balance and mature personality like vintage and vintage is what Charles knows best!

Terrible dealer. Wrongfully accessed and overpriced a guitar I bought from him. This guy has mostly mediocre instruments with a few decent ones overpriced in the mix. Uses sleazy salesman tactics to upsell and is very controlling. Best avoid and find a more reputable dealer.

I had a very bad experience Mandolin world headquarters, I dealt with the owner Charles Johnson. I traded for a Gibson F5L Mandolin that was described As “excellent condition”. To me excellent condition means that the Mandolin is in excellent condition in looks and playability. This is an outstanding looking Mandolin but it needs frets, which is clearly a misrepresentation. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover this inconsistency until after the 48 hour approval period had passed. Now I am a firm believer in the 48 approval period except in the case of misrepresentation of material fact. My buying decision was based solely on the advertisement. I had no opportunity to play or examine prior to purchase. I firmly believe the approval period should be reserved for misunderstandings or cases where the buyer doesn’t “like” the instrument. But misrepresentation and then getting by with it because of a technicality is simply wrong. I confronted mr. Johnson he begrudgingly sent me a check for just over 1/2 my estimated costs for repairs, shipping, and insurance. There’s no repair service in my location, so I am having to ship and insure, this time pay both ways. I requested to be paid in full, he declined giving no reason. We were less than $300 apart on a $5700 instrument. In fairness I would like to say that this Mandolin could very well be the finest Mandolin I have ever had my hands on. It’s going to be a joy to own and play for many years to come. However, someone had filed frets 2 through 7 almost flat with the fretboard. It was not immediately obvious to me there was a problem, took me several days to figure it out. That’s why I believe misrepresentations should not be covered by the 48 hour approval period. This is a protection for buyers who live in distant locations without available repair services who can be protected as those who have the ability to inspect prior to purchase.
